With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

Kagamino City, 22Km east of Karakura Town. While most occurrences of Hollow Activity seemed to revolve around the city of gradually increasing spiritually aware, that did not stop stray Hollows from attacking neighboring towns and cities. The weather was fair, a casual summer day. The crimson haired Captain certainly enjoyed a nicely heated summer, which reflected her own Zanpakuto and its abilities. Appearing through the gates, she lead her squad over to a park area, with her Soul Phone in hand. While it was understandable that such a mission did not call for a Captain to lead, she was here on her own accord; to evaluate the mission first hand, and to see if the young unseated Shinigami was truly ready to take charge. Along with her was her Third Seat, Rin, who was originally the one to be sent on this mission. Kyra thought it would be wise to kill two birds with one stone and see how the two acted not only as respectable members of the Fifth Division, but together as well.
"Seated members should have no problem acting as a team," Kyra informed the pair when they finally arrived at the respective location. "I won't be helping you out; I'm just here to watch. It's your job to take care of the Hollows."
And as if on cue, the monstrous creatures shimmered into reality. There were three of them total, which meant that the two Shinigami would be out numbered. One stood larger than both, which respectively seemed to take charge. Ironically enough, it was strange to see Hollows at this level to be acting together, which was why her squad was sent to investigate. With a nod of her head, she signaled her squad to take the initiative.
[OOC Note: I'll leave the description of the Hollows as well as the general NPC for them up to you two. Leave the third out for now; he/she/it'll be controlled by myself in the following post.]
It wasn’t the greatest time to get mission, but seeing that her captain personally appointed it, she would just have to deal with it. She sighed, a little agitated from an afternoon nap. Her gaze met the other Shinigami which is someone she has never seen or met before. Being Third Seat would mean that she should be atop of things, but today seemed more like a day she should be relaxing on her own.
The solitude can wait for she now had a mission. Rin just nodded and added a yes sir at the end of her captain’s little talk. She was especially chosen to work with this other Shinigami. Rin wasn’t going to blow things for herself and make her seem weak.
She stood straight and firm ready for action. Hand ready to grab her zanpakuto, Rin looked forward to the three hollows. One was as tall as the tallest hollow’s shoulders. Its eye glow in a bright red as it caused its havoc. The mask was a spectacle itself holding the shape of a Parana. To think, out of all animals out there, that hollow looked more like the real deal of the ferocious fish than the fish itself. Its teeth looked razor sharp, with a few molars in the back that you could see when it roared out. The others roared out just the same with their own hollow-like features.
“Well then,” she started off and looked towards the other Shinigami, “let’s get going.”
Noboru had eagerly waited for this mission. A chance to prove himself. Yet when the details were given Noboru almost seemed slightly disappointed. Still he pulled himself up to his full height as he looked over the three hollows. The one that caught his attention was the shortest, though still larger than himself. It was hunched over much like any monkey or guerrilla would be. A small bulk compared to it's two companions. It's mask was a bit out of place, the mouth was slightly elongated like that of a canine but just short of what it should be and the eyes stuck out on solid white stalks like that of a hammerhead shark.
"Alright...," Noboru paused as he looked over all the hollows. This could be bad, if that battle-lust reared it's head then likely this 'review' of his abilities would not be in his favor. He looked to Rin and nodded. His long strides easily brought him alongside her. His sword was drawn not in any flourish but in a slow and smooth manner as he focused on their opponents. "You have any plan?", Noboru figured it would be best to follow the higher ranking shinigami than to simply rush in like some amateur.
"Well of coarse I have a plan," she told him, but in her head she was actually ending it with a 'Not really...'. Rin pointed to the hollows, "since there's three of them, and we're not getting any help from the captain, we're obviously outnumbered" she stated the obvious. "So, we either work together and take one at a time, or we could always not" she said shrugging trying to see what was in the guy's head.
She sighed a little disappointed since she couldn't use her mask here. No one knew about her vizard abilities just yet, so keeping things a secret got hard when it came to fighting. 'Oh well, guess I'll have to do the same old same old routine without the mask'
Her right hand reached for her zanpakuto on her left hip. It slid out with ease as she heard its spirit get pumped up for a bloodlust kill. "Finally, I've been aching for a battle. You should be ashamed Rin, you've kept me cooped up for far too long" her spirit said mocking her. Rin just sighed pretty loudly and ignored his comment.
She looked at the hollows that were moving about. "Ok. So I think that the best thing to do would be to seperate them one at a time, then we can go on and slash them up as we please. That shouldn't be too hard right?" she asked him hoping that he would go along with her brilliant plan. But in her mind she was just thinking the opposite of her plan. 'What I would really do is the normal and obvious thing, which obviously is...' she thought and then a drum roll, 'rush in and do the whole slash and kill routine', but Rin let that thought go since it wasn't the right time and place to do so.
Noboru frowned at this plan that Rin was telling him about. It hardly seemed formulated at all, as if she was just saying the first thing that came to mind. 'Out numbered, your only real hope is to both attack one at the same time and see about trying to overwhelm it.' Amanjaku whispered in Noboru's head. Noboru nodded then looked to Rin.
"If you could use kido to mask our aproach...like striking the ground to throw up dust.. we could both concentrate on a single target at that moment to even the odds before they can recover from the surprise.", Noboru had obviously completely disregarded her plan now. Though it looked like Noboru was already concentrating on something and as he eyed the enemies he unconsciously licked his lips in anticipation. "Ready when you are." The second statement seemed to mean that he assumed Rin was going to go along with it.
Rin sighed getting a little agitated, ‘Well gee… isn’t that somewhat similar to what I said? Oh well, guess I should’ve put more detail on things…’ she thought to herself. She sighed again and brought her zanpakuto up, she didn’t say anything to him about his plan, it wasn’t bad, it was actually smart thinking. But Rin was better off when it came to fighting on her own. Oh how she wished to release her mask and just get things over with. She sighed again, "Fine, lets go" she said.
Her zanpakuto shined as she leaped forward and started heading towards the hollows with Noboru. His explanation of using kido would probably work, but Rin was sarcastically talking to herself in her head. ‘Who? Me? Use kido? Nah I suck at that’ she thought but really knew she was exceptionally good at kido.
Rin let Noboru go first to see what he would do while she planned out which kido she would start things off with. An attack was already on mind, she readied her zanpakuto as she studied his moves before hers.

The Captain remained behind, forcing her reiatsu to a low dimmer as to not draw too much attention to herself. She watched as the two conversed a well thought plan, despite the hastily brought situation, and act upon it. It was a fairly basic plan; catch the enemy by surprise, team up on one, separation and so forth. Nevertheless, it was always a good strategy to go with. With her arms crossed, the crimson haired woman continued to watch, her eyes every present upon her Squad members. Teamwork would be the first thing Kyra would be watching from the two. If Noboru wanted to become a seated member, then he would not only have to know how to lead a Squad, but also to respect and follow the commands of those above himself; to be able to work with his fellow squad members, whether they be of the same rank, higher or lower. That was Kyra's first observation. The next, of course, would be his battle tactic and strategic planning. While Rin may have been the one to call the shots due to her rank, being able to understand and follow those orders would certainly be her next observation; someone who simply does what they want with little to no concern for others wouldn't remain long in her Squad.
As her eyes watched and her mind began to judge, she couldn't help a small nagging in the back of her head... like a stiff shoulder or something. Ironically enough, she began to roll her shoulder as though it were an annoyance, and moved a hand to rub it. Like a sixth sense, Kyra turned her head, as though she felt herself being watched. Those thin red brows lowered, ever alert, though her senses picked up nothing. A quick look to her Soul-Phone revealed the same information. With that, she returned her vision to the heat of the battle.
Noboru had already brought himself to a state of concentration. Preparing to hold back the battle-lust during this, what he hoped would be, quick exchange with the enemy. He focused on the second tallest as he lunged in. The two smaller hollows rounded on him as they moved to meet.
He was getting close and was hoping for that kido any moment now. He brought his sword out to the left, pointing at the smallest hollow in hopes that his intention to divert his attack on that one would be understood. He knew the one he was working with had likely seen far more battles than he had so far and would hopefully be wary enough to get the subtle sign of his intent. He brought his blade back to his left side as he prepared for a wide sweep with the sword as the distance between him and his two targets closed down to less than thirty feet. Showing no signs of hesitation. He had decided to trust this person's timing although he had never met them before. And although Noboru thought this was slightly idiotic of himself for once he didn't hear his zanpakuto making complaints about the plan.
Blade ready to cut down the opponent infront of her, Rin shunpoed closer. She closed her eyes as she got closer to the enemy, and then she started to speak, hand ready for kido. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!" she stopped at directed her move. "Hado 31, Shakkaho!" she yelled out as a powerfull ball of red energy was aimed at the ground causing the first attack to kick up debris for cover.
"Alright, let's go!" she said leading away to the smallest hollow. Not seeing a point to use her shikai on the smaller one Rin shunpoed closer with her blade ready to cut through. "Take this!" she yelled out as she attempted her strike.
Noboru grinned at the distraction. He was beginning to worry that perhaps his trust had been misplaced. The plan worked perfectly on the smaller one. As the dust and debris provided the cover Noboru planted his right foot forward to brace as he turned all of his momentum to launch himself towards the smaller one. He stalled only long enough for Rin's blade to bite into the smaller creature's shoulder as it had turned towards the explosion from the kido. As it reeled back from the strike Noboru followed through with his lunge and planted the blade into it's stomach and wrenched his blade through to the right to bring himself to face the second hollow. Hoping Rin would take the opportunity to finish off the smaller one as he squared off against the second.
The hollow roared out as the hits were felt slashing through his body. The other attacked aswell when his movements suddenly turned for the next one. 'What is he doing? Already attacking? By himself?' Rin thought to herself on the split second that he was facing the other. She sighed with part annoyence and reswung her zanpakuto at the hollow's head. "Take this you piece of crap!" she growled out as she easily took its life away.
She shunpoed to the other hollow quickly to see what the new guy was trying to do. 'What are you planning?' she thought to herself as her brows pulled together getting fairly serious. "Damn it" she mumbled to herself hoping that he wouldn't make some stupid move. "Hey! Watch what you're doing!" she yelled out as she watched him fight with the other. "Damn it!" she cursed to herself again, "don't get in these fights on your own!" she said as she got her zanpakuto ready to strike at the hollow.
His eye brow raised at her reaction. "Eh...of course..", the pause gave the second hollow the time it needed to find him and launch it's own attack. His zanpakuto moved to parry the claws and he gave a small amount of ground while doing so. Sweat was beading on his head, trying to listen to Rin, trying to focus on the fight, and forcing his control to stay in place was a bit testing.
At first glance it might seem like he was struggling to keep from being hit, a person with a keen eye would see that his body was not tense and he was easily parrying the attacks so it obviously wasn't a physical problem. Still as another strike came in Noboru rolled to the side and brought his blade in an upward stroke. His blade bit into the hollow's arm and caused it to recoil in pain. It's attention was still fully on Noboru. He chanced a glance at Rin to see what she was doing but also to let her know he was now listening, perhaps even waiting for her next command.
"Ugh, let's just finish this thing off" Rin said as she sliced at the attacking enemy. She took a jab at its neck, then started slicing up towards its mask. It was finished, over.
The wind blew her hair around and she sighed. "Not bad with defending yourself. Quite a multitasker" is all that Rin said to him instead of cursing again or lecturing on how he should've waited for orders or something like that. Her eyes were on the large prize, but her senses were on her captain which wasn't too far away. "Now... what to do with that thing.." she said just looking at the larger hollow. Was her captain going to do anything today except watch? Rin just sighed again and took position. "Get ready" she told Noboru.
Noboru did not look towards Rin as she spoke. His attention was on the largest of the three hollows the second the second one was dispatched. He didn't like how it had just sat there and let the other two be destroyed. He knew hollows didn't have loyalties to one another but he was certain that it would have taken the advantage of his momentary distraction. Perhaps they had acted to quickly.
Noboru smiled a small bit at the compliment. Then drew his sword back as he prepared to launch himself at this last hollow. "Ready when you are.", Noboru stated calmly as he flexed his grip on his zanpakuto.
Kyra Edit: Adjusted some color-font. Black didn't show up on my screen, and I believe Rin's speech is red.

Kyra's eyes had also been locked upon the rather peculiar third and largest Hollow of the group. While true that Hollows of this level had a tendency to act rather irate and without order, this one barely moved from its original position. Her brows pinched in bewilderment as the masked beast remained as still as stone, even when it was presented with an opportunity to attack, a moment, and only moment thus far, where Kyra had reached for the hilt of her blade, just in case. It didn't even seem to flinch a single bit when her fellow Shinigami cut down the second Hollow and turned to face the last. The Hollow simply stood there, quietly, as though waiting.
A rather plain, humanoid appearing Hollow; were it not for it's spiritual pressure, Kyra could have easily guessed it to be an Adjuchas-level Hollow. Nevertheless, with the broad stature and towering, muscular appearance, it was still intimidating nonetheless. There were no real definitive features that seemed to make him stand out, aside from the abnormally large fists and feet. The holes in his mask made it hard to determine if he was staring off into space, or actually paying attention during the fight.
The Fifth Division Captain wasn't certain about this creature. While a woman's intuition was one thing, Kyra was never very insightful when it came to things like premonitions or getting a bad vibe; quite frankly, she ran into trouble quite a bit. Having the ability to see the future or anything like that would certainly be welcome. Nevertheless, as a shiver ran up her spine and the grip on her hilt tightened while she gently inched the sword from its sheath, she couldn't help her heart from racing or the sweat that burrowed on her forehead.
"What... is this feeling?" Kyra whispered to herself. Her entire body felt as though it would tremble... was it fear? No... something else. This creature... it wasn't all that strong. Sure, it was stronger than the other two, but she was confident in her subordinates to handle the beast on their own. Hell, she could do so without even revealing her Shikai, if it came down to it... but, if that were the case, then why was her body so tense? Why did she feel as though she were shaking to her very core?
"Something... something's not right..." she muttered as her brows lowered. Then, her soul-phone went off. With a quick reach and flip, her eyes widened in shock. "Im...Impossible!"
Red dots began to swarm their position, and as Kyra raised her head, she could see the images beginning to appear one after another. Ten... twenty... thirty! They seemed to appear out of nowhere, all holding an identical appearance to the last Hollow. How was it possible? How could they all just show up like that? A group had struck her all at once, each attempting to grab onto anything they could. Her arms and legs were locked in an instant while her sheath and blade were knocked aside. These Hollows, or rather, this one Hollow that now seemed to be controlling the rest could not be underestimated.
Several more appeared around her two subordinates, all attempting to subdue the Shinigami rather than kill them. Some even tried to simply knock their weapons away in order to make it a hand-to-hand fight.
