It was a quiet day in Tsubakaidai Park. Lush and beautiful, as all the plants thrived in the mid spring, just on the outskirts of the forest where Mikihail had first met and trained with his Sensei and new friend, Samyeru and Lilith. Part of the reason he chose this place was because of its closeness to there, it held significance now, that and it was quieter then say the Children's Park or Karakura Community Park.
After his third weekend training session with Samyeru and Lilith, did something actually happen where it seemed his powers were awakening. He and Lilith were sparring and things had gotten pretty intense, since for this match she was actually using her Zanpakuto, and Mikhail with nothing to do but dodge. There was no blocking the bladed weapon, and even still Mikhail came away with a few scratches. As the fight went on he had prepared for her next charge, and instead, she Sonidoed away to appear behind him and throw her weapon. Buzz sawing through the air at him, he spun and extended his arms as if that would help buy him a second or two, as he dove to the side.
In that moment there was a small spike in spiritual energy around him. He felt the wind as it passed around him, and blew through his hair as he dove to safety. Something happened that bought him those precious few seconds. There was a grinding sound as Lilith's Zanpakuto hit something and tore through before missing Mikhail by inches. It was a disk shaped plate of ice, now sawed in two pieces, that dropped to the ground and left him feeling drained. But that wasn't all, Mikhail found that he had a hard time 'switching off' his power and couldn't even get a drink of water. Samyeru suggested he relax and they sat down to kinda meditate where upon moments into the meditation, Mikhail found himself within his dreams.
Mikhail has had dreams before of being in a huge frozen castle where a mysterious being called his name. Leading him down cold corridors to a dark hall where at last he would catch a glimpse of something, or someone, bound in this place. In his dreams the figure would rush to the edge of his restraints and glare at Mikhail, staring out from under frosty white hair with glowing icy blue eyes. This time was different. This time the figure didn't even bother coming forth but Mikhail could hear what sounded like the snapping of a chain from brute force alone, and a chilling voice that only said "Soon"
Mikhail had woken to Lilith's slap panting and exhausted. He didn't know what the being within wanted but from its words he only knew it would happen soon. Samyeru had suggested that he confront whatever it was inside him. That if he couldn't handle that, how could he deal with real fights against real enemies. He was right of course, which was what brought him here today. A quiet place like the park to meditate and try to discover what the being inside wanted of him. He walked the path until he found a nice area to relax away from others. There was a picnic table but even that he wandered just away from to a shady tree to sit beneath.
Mikhail was wearing a dark blue t-shirt, black pants, and sneakers. He wore his ankle weights beneath the pant legs. They were becoming easy to wear now after a few weeks. Finally he had on those new fighting gloves that Samyeru had made him wear to do some punching exercises. They were metallic blue with a black outline and a picture of a wolf on the back, and he thought they were just the coolest thing, favorite colors and all. He walked over beneath the shady tree, and sat down, breaking out a small container of water to take a drink from. Mikhail set that aside and crossed his legs under himself to put his hands on knees.
He closed his eyes and started taking deep breaths. There was a nice breeze and the sounds of nature around him. He was kinda scared about facing the being inside his mind again but it was something he had to do. The sounds of nature faded, and the cool breeze was a brisk chill when Mikhail opened his eyes again staring at the frozen castle's icy floor. He had to concentrate to force himself to move in this state, rising to his feet he looked around once again. Anything too far off was dark and frosty white pillars lined the hall. His mind knew the path by now, further down there was a turn, and down that hall was where it was.
Mikhail started moving reaching out to brush one of the pillars as he went, it was coated with a glistening sheen of ice. Beautiful if not for the darkness that seemed to encroach on the borders of the room. In fact he couldn't see any light source it was like he WAS the light. A deep breath escaped and it went out as a wisp up into the shadows above. Instinctively starting to turn down the right hall he noticed this time that the main hall went on and there were other openings but now wasn't the time for exploration. He steeled himself and proceeded down the hallway.
By now the being would have called in his dream, it was quiet again, maybe it slept after the rigorous training. Another turn and he saw the steps that led down. This was as far as his mind knew really and he had to push to descend those steps. As soon as his foot hit the step he heard the rustle of chains across the ice. He went down the steps slowly, it was darker here, and Mikhail reached up to rub his chest because it almost felt constricting. His foot touched the landing and something moved in the shadows. If Mikhail's dreams were any indication he was already well within the range of its grasp if it wanted him.
"Hello..." Mikhail asked into the darkness. "...are you there? Come out where I can see you."
There were more sounds of chains dragging along the floor as a figure stood outside of where Mikhail could see. Within the shadows the twin pinpoints of icy blue opened to stare out at him. It moved slowly stretching a bit then pacing the shadows just beyond what Mikhail could see. It was quiet as it observed Mikhail, a step in the right direction that he was even able to come here on his own. Mikhail's strength was growing but the truth was, he wasn't ready.
"Who are you?" Mikhail asked, "What do you want?"
Still no answer instead the figure seemed to lift its head and look around, now was not the time to answer questions. From what Mikhail could barely make out the being kept here was strong, muscles of its chest, abs, and arms clearly defined Its skin tinged a deep blue. After It had looked around a bit It turned to regard Mikhail again. It was time to wake up. The being's eyes glowed brightly and it extended its hand towards Mikhail. A strong icy wind blasting forth pushed him back towards the stairs and then suddenly into wakefulness.
Mikhail took a deep breath and opened his eyes to the park once again. It wasn't so bad waking up this time, he didn't feel drained but he did need to take a drink of the water bottle beside him. He could only assume the thing didn't feel like talking but at least it wasn't near as intimidating this time around. His head fell back against the bark of the tree as he thought about his meeting and quietly asked himself..."What now?"
