--------------------
General Information
--------------------
Name: Izaya Kogi
Actual Age: 183
Appearing Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance
Izaya's hair has grown out to reach a length that is about shoulder length. It is still charcoal black but has appears to curl out now that it has more in terms of length. These curls aren't very pronounced and really just look like small portions of his hair jut out of the basic shape of his head. He has dark brown eyes to couple this dark hair. His face is rather thin (as is the rest of him) and it comes down to his chin and jawline. Both of which are thin (his chin being a point) and his jawline is not pronounced or muscular. This chin leads to a small neck which will, in turn, lead to a small frame.
Izaya is a little less short than he once was, now standing at 5'5" (he grew an inch, hells yeah!), and has also gained some muscle mass (now weighing in at 145lbs.) His torso, reflects this new muscle mass with a bit of tone. His chest and abdomen have small lines of definition and his newly developed muscles are apparent. His abdomen also has a scar running from the top of his abdomen to a little above his naval from where he was stabbed by Alexei. His arms haven't gotten much larger than they were, due to his missing one of them for quite sometime. They now simply appear to be on tone with the rest of his body and are not seemingly out of place. There is an addition to his arms though. On his right shoulder, due to him losing his right arm in a fight with Celia, there is a pale grey scar that circles it where his new arm has grown.
His legs follow suit with the rest of his body by gaining muscle mass as well. They are just a little under-developed compared to the rest of his body because while injured, he didn't like moving. After his ribs were fixed, he didn't focus on improving his lower body strength compared to his upper body and core to fight effectively. They seem more than sturdy enough to keep him up now, and he has practiced adding a variety of kicks into his arsenal. These legs to small feet (he wears a size nine). On said feet, he prefers to wear shoes instead of sandals. He has generally worn out the treads on the bottom of his shoes by using parkour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour).
Having lost his shihakusho, Izaya had to go without any under-shirt for a while. After getting injured, his jacket was pretty torn up (a whole arm was missing). After getting "fixed" he invested in a new jacket. Actually, he invested in an arsenal of new jackets that fill up his wardrobe. An edition he has made is a black undershirt. This shirt is very western (he obtained it where he got his suit) and is called a "T-shirt" or a "V-Neck". It goes to about half-way down his bicep and has a "V" stylized cut on the torso which give his neck room to move around.
Personality
Izaya has a superiority complex, a rather large one. He considers himself more intelligent than almost anyone around him. As such, he looks down on most people. While this sense of superiority seems to be an impenetrable wall, he can be very insecure when it comes to his weak points. He often deflects topics away from these weak points and tries to ignore them. This superiority isn't exclusive to any sort of ranking system, and such, if he finds himself smarter than someone else, he makes a point to tell them.
He is also very observant and analytical. He watches events unfold and monitors people's reactions to occurences. Izaya considers himself an outsider in these situations, even if he caused the events in place. He watches these situations without expression or emotion, not even his general narcissism reveals itself while he watches. This is because he considers his time spent watching as time spent "learning", and no matter what happens he won't involve himself in the observation. Izaya feels no remorse for whatever situation another person may find himself in, even if he caused it. Izaya has become a lot more active in his observations though. He has gotten involved in meeting people and even organized a party (albeit by order). This has resulted in him having to think on his feet more with his observations and witty remarks. Also, it has made him more aware of social protocol (if only a miniscule amount). By dealing with people more often, he has gotten much better at understanding what is acceptable in most social setting.
His social skills have actually improved. He actually sees some utility in making "friends" and allies. This may be in part to his injury and the fact that allies could've prevented him getting so thrashed up. He still claims that he doesn't need anybody else in most cases, however. His injuries were not humbling to the extent that he is willing to admit interdependence. Also, he still views most people in a very 2-D manner. He only wants them around to serve a purpose and doesn't really care about their ambitions and ideas.
Izaya is always cold, and this fact annoys him greatly. He often bundles up in his jacket and sticks his hands in his pockets. He often recites this as being one of the reasons for his bitterness and being distant, saying "I'm always cold on the inside, might as well portray it". Despite the fact that he is always cold, he doesn't flock to a warm place. It is an idea of learned helplessness that he attributes to this. As he was cold everywhere he's ever been, he assumes he will always be cold. This is based on some fact, however, as he once forgot his coat and was shivering, despite it being summer time.
He is extremely lazy. He spends most of his time laying around observing, or, if that becomes too strenuous, he may just take a nap. He avoids any kind of work set out for him, and refuses to do menial tasks. If he deems a chore or request beneath him he will generally ignore that duty and do something else. He often describes certain actions as "ones for those beneath my intelligence" and for that reason wants no part in them. This lazyness carries over to fighting, which he calls a "hassle". If he ever fights, he generally toys with an enemy by not taking them seriously in the slightest. He has been known to use low-level kido and not even draw his sword. He also procrastinates frequently, generally lating until the latest to preform a task, if he performs it at all. When asked to hurry up, he generally responds that he'll get to it when he's "damn well ready".
Because of his time spent away from Kin as well as the trauma he received at the hands of Celia, Izaya's masochistic side now comes out when a different set of criteria is met. Whenever he really begins to explain his ideas on love or think deeply about Kin he goes into a state characterized by increased sadism and a crazed personality. The things he does in this state are often considered "psychotic" which aren't helped by his crazed eyes at that time. He has no recolleciton of what has happened in this state due to it being almost a split personality to him. He rebels against being told about this personality as well because it implies some imperfection on his end.
He is apathetic to the wishes of his superiors. If he deems the task worth his "special touch" then he will do it, with a little complaining first. However, he states that captains are just "children with armies to command". His view is that if they want something, they get it just because of their position. He dislikes the system as it is easy to abuse, and hates being caught up in it. He describes those chosen to lead as "ignorant kings who think they can use me as a pawn". And, as such, is hasty to dislike and disapprove of actions taken by a captian. He especially doesn't approve of anything his own captain does due to the fact that he considers him useless. Because Renji was unable to defeat Celia, Izaya offers him absolutely no respect.
Ever since his injury, Izaya has actually strives to improve himself. He has gotten to exercising and training at least daily to get stronger physically. This has resulted in his improved muscle mass and a better physique which increases his physical abilities. This idea of self-improvement is the closest thing that Izaya gets to admitting his own faults. The fact that he is working to make himself better is a type of admittance that he isn't perfect. His battle with Celia had taught him that.
On the topic of Celia, she was the one thing that has personally motivated him the most. He has become obsessed with obtaining revenge on her. That and protecting Kin are the sole reasons behind his regimen of self-improvement. The fact that he was bested by a mere hollow constantly taunts him and drives him crazy at times. While he tries to rationalize by the fact that she was an Arrancar elite, it is all in vain. Because of this, he is willing to put up with Haishutsu Megami in order to get stronger. Because of this, Izaya is willing to admit fault and train until he is strong enough to defeat her. The thought that he could never get strong enough has never entered his head. His efforts have been redoubled as he came to the "realization" that he was the only one who could defeat Celia after Renji's failure.
Kin
Okay, take everything above in his personality, and throw it out the window. When it comes to Kin, Izaya's almost a completely different person. While at first, he did his best not to let her change him. However, expecially after his injury at the hands of that Espada, his true feelings became more and more apparent to himself and Kin. He began to realize that, while he didn't like to admit it, he actually depended on her continued presence in his life and that her true feelings about him become apparent. This venture would prove difficult considering Kin's reluctance to admit any sort of emotional attachment to him.
Around Kin, Izaya is vulnerable. He is willing to admit imperfection and even fault. This sort of humility on him is shocking and almost off-putting (Kin certainly finds it so). He's open towards her about things he's thinking and what he feels. This is still a foreign practice to him, but he's getting better about it while around her. He's also more likely to do things that make him uncomfortable or even cause him physical pain. This kind of attachment is also foreign to him, but he doesn't question why he does the things he does. He just knows that it's what he's willing to do for Kin.
Towards Kin, Izaya also wants to play the role of the protector. It pained him greatly to see her just upset by the fact that he was so injured. He made a silent promise to himself that she would never be so hurt again. This is the reason why he doesn't want to force things concerning the silence between them. Not wanting to see her upset again, he's more than willing to suffer a little to keep his distance because it's what's best for her. This is another reason as to why he's improving his body. If the time ever came, he wants to be able to physically protect her as well.
History
"Distort," she whispered. Suddenly, something was wrong. There was a buzzing noise in his head, a high frequency. A pitch that was annoying yet soft, aggravating yet almost unnoticeable. He closed his eyes in an attempt to wash away this sensation. When he opened them again he wished he hadn't. Something was wrong. The woman, there was...two of them? Since when? No, not like her. They were different. One was wearing red, the other was wearing blue. He noticed that the hair and eyes followed suit with the dress. This was...excruciating. He felt insane and that was not a good feeling.
Part I-Rukongai
He was placed in a pretty safe district of the Rukongai. And, as such he was able to be lazy and build habits that he would continue. One of these habits was watching people and trying to notice every little aspect. This made people deem him a bit of a know-it-all and a creep. Claims also spread that he was a brat, as he was well taken care of, some would say spoiled. Despite these accusations that he was a brat (he was, but that's beside the point) he was also considered extremely intelligent. This didn't help his ego, not in the slightest, and it was the building block for his superiority complex.
Due to him being spoiled, he grew selfish. He developed several narcissistic tendencies and mannerisms. He also used his observation time to think a lot. He compared the people to ants, carrying about their busy days that are utterly insignificant. He hated the thought of it, they disgusted him. He swore that he was going to be more than that. That he would be better than just an ant. He told himself that day "I refuse to be an ant. If I am destined to be an ant, then I'm a self-aware ant. And that gives me the potential to become more than an ant." After that day, he worked on bettering his weaker qualities, such as his physical attributes.
In order to test his physical abilites, he got into a lot of fights. He got his fair share of bruises, but he won most of the fights he was involved in. He wasn't even bigger than most of the people he fought, which was quite a boost to his ego. He was able to fight people stronger and faster than him, but beat them. Mainly because of his level-head, and eye for weak points. With this, Izaya earned a reputation as a problem child and a trouble-maker. But, how the ants viewed him really didn't matter.
One day, whilst walking through an alley for a shortcut, he was cornered by three people whom he had beaten in a fight before. One had sharpened a stick to resemble a sword and was attempting to pick a fight. Izaya tried to back out, as he knew fighting someone armed, even with only a stick, was foolhardy at best. But, the numbers advantage prevented an escape. He had a small understanding of parkour, but couldn't quite wall-run to escape. So, he backed into a corner and was delivered a quick blow to the head from the stick. He fell, on purpose, hoping the man would lose interest, he did not. Izaya's opponent simply stood over him, mocking him. Realizing he would have to fight, he looked around. There was something in this alley he could use. It was just another stick, albeit a bit too long, but he couldn't be picky here. He picked it up and began to fight back. The weapon was hard to control, but he had a reach advantage.
A shinigami was on a patrol of sorts and saw the fight occuring. He was about to break it up when Izaya went down, but saw him pick up a weapon to defend himself. To use something so wrong for his build was foolsih and insane. It would almost be more beneficial to fight without it and hope to disarm the opponent. But, the shinigami had to admit that it was just a kid. After deciding that enough was enough the shinigami stopped the fight. He told Izaya about the Academy and said that there he could learn to use a weapon like that. Izaya hastily accepted, as it was a way for him to become more than what he was.
Part II-Academy
At the Shinigami Academy, he was eager for more knowledge. By this time, he had fully accepted the notion of intelligence being power, and was like a sponge to most that was taught. He especially developed a liking for a sort of magic called "kido". He liked this kido as it didn't involve an awful lot of brute strength, just reiastu manipulation and memorization. Manipulation and memorization...he could do that. Despite his liking in kido, he also learned proper hand to hand techniques, rather than just the brawling he used to do on the streets on the Rukongai. These techniques made more sense to him, and he learned the basics in hand to hand combat and disarming opponents. He reflects back on that with a bitter tone saying "If they had taught me that earlier, I wouldn't have had to use a foolish weapon."
While at the Academy he also learned swordplay. It did fascinate him to a degree, as he admitted he had no clue about the techniques involved. However, after learning the basics he was able to fight, albeit in an unorthodox way. He would generally mix swordplay and hand to hand together, much to his teacher's dismay. When asked why he did this he would state "My left hand is on the sword, my right hand isn't. Why shouldn't I take advantage of the fact that my right hand can also be used for offense?" While he never got the chance to mix kido with his physical fighting (unfortunate rules and regulations) he often fantasized about it. He was skilled in hand to hand and kido, so he could most likely find a combination of the two. Maybe he could bind the opponent then get to fighting distance before they could break the spell. He never could try this, but because of this fantasy, he decided to study more on binding spells than destructive ones.
His real failing was in learning Hoho. He didn't quite understand the concept and was confused by it. After some time, he obtained a mediocre knowledge of it. However, due his initial hesitency to learn about it, he still doesn't like to use the technique. As he doesn't use it very often at all, his skills in it have grown even rustier than they already were. As a result, he can barely even use a flash step if he wanted to. If he were to practice this, he could reattain the skill. But, he feels it is beneath him as parkour lets him see more.
His work ethic wasn't his best quality. By this point, he was already very lazy and manipulative. He didn't graduate very high in his class as he didn't like putting in work he didn't like to do. He also procrastinated on assignments and just plain didn't do them. Some called him a waste of potential, but he viewed all others as insignificant, so that didn't bother him in the slightest.
Part III-Shinigami
Despite his low marks, he was able to graduate from the Academy and be accepted into the Gotei 13. When he obtained his zanpakto he discovered it was a nodachi, much to his dismay. He felt like he was back in the Rukongai, using an overly long stick to do battle. Because of this, he didn't use his zanpakto much, or even carry it around often. If he did anything at all in terms of practice, it was on his Kido or Hand to Hand abilities. He would often manipulate others to be sparring partners.
However lazy he was, he still liked control. And he knew that without an sort of rank, he could never have any sort of authority of those he manipulated. He didn't need the authority per se, but it was always nice to have a fail-safe. He had pressumed his abilities with Kido and Hand to Hand would suffice for at least a low seated position, but he was wrong. He learned that zanpaktos have names, and that they were considered almost essential to advancement within the Gotei 13.
With this information, he set out to learn more about his zanpakto, and started carrying it regularly. He also began practicing the techniques people used for a nodachi. They typically called for two hands, which he despised. So, he made slight modifications to one-handed katana techniques and used his nodachi that way. After a small bit of work on his composure, he was able to fight while keeping his right arm practically motionless. After excessive practicing and usage of his zanpakto against hollows, Izaya could feel his large blade makes motions, almost forming words. He didn't care about these words, as he thought that he could just drag the name out of his zanpakto himself. During this time period, Izaya would often walk around holding his zanpakto whilst shouting random nonsense, hoping to obtain a name. He was becoming irritated, as this wasn't like a game of Go or Chess, there was no strategy. He was about to give up on his zanpakto entirely, but one day he was watching people go about their daily lives and could feel his zanpakto stirring. He looked down to acknowledge it, but lost consciousness.
Part IV-Obtaining Shikai
When he regained consciousness, he was in a strange place. Maybe a temple? It was decorated in white, with marble pillars and marble floors. He looked around to take it all in, as it was beautiful. There were carvings depicting scenes of warriors battling demons, brilliant tapestries, small statuettes, and an altar at the far end of the room. He walked closer to the altar, he noticed things about it. It too, was white, and it seemed to be made of a substance other than the marble that followed the scheme of the rest of the temple. He couldn't quite name the material, but he wasn't an architect, and didn't have a wanting to learn about building materials. Actually, not knowing something bothered him, he made a mental note to do some research on the material and discover its name.
As he came closer to the altar, he noticed a woman standing there. She was taller than he was (by about three inches) and she looked thin. He assumed she was what many might call beautiful, but he didn't care for matters like that now. He had ambitions, and didn't want the time it would take for him to acknowledge foolish traits such as beauty.
She turned to look at him as he drew closer. He could see she had white hair that fell to her shoulders, curling ever so slightly. In fact, everything about her seemed to be white. Her dress, her shoes, her hair, the only thing that wasn't was her eyes. They were a shade of pale purple. It was, almost elegant in itself. Such a pale color, but still vibrant.
She smiled when she looked at him. He couldn't place the why, but that kind of pissed him off. Where did she get off smiling at him like that? He didn't know her, she didn't know him. She was probably responsible for him being in this strange place. He visably returned the smile with a scowl. He walked even closer to her, cautious of what she might do. This could be some kind of trap, but she seemed unarmed. He had his zanpakto, after all.
"Hello, Izaya," she whispered softly. Her voice was...soothing. This was strange, what the hell was going on here? Izaya visably showed no signs of panic, but he was racking his brains for a way that she could know his name.
"Alright, I'll bite. How do you know my name?"
"Oh dear. You still have no clue, do you? You know, in your quest for knowledge it surprises me that you can't come to a conclusion. Aren't you supposed to know everything? Isn't that where you get your power? You don't rely on anyone else, not even me."
What was this woman's deal? He didn't even know her, and here she was trying to sell it off like they've known each other for years. It was almost laughable. She was trying to trick him, that was it. She must have watched him, studied his habits and learned that information. She wasn't all powerful, just a stalker. Well, best he nip this in the bud now. "Listen, I don't know you. I won't pretend to know a damn thing you're talking about. But, just point me back to the rooftop I was sitting on, quit following me, and we'll be even."
Her face seemed to darken. Her smile turned into a slight frown. "I'm afraid I can't do either of those."
He could feel his scowl turn into a snarl. This was ridiculous. Didn't this woman realize who he was? How powerful he was? Well, he was just going to have to tell her how wrong she was. Not only would she do what he said, she'd wipe that damn frown off her face. "And why the hell not?"
He didn't know what was happening. Before he could tell his body "no" he had unsheathed his zanpakto and was charging at the woman. This wasn't like him, and he couldn't stop. This was bad, very bad. He hated getting his hands dirty. And, mindlessly killing wasn't his thing either. The strange thing was, she was just standing there. Her frown still remained, there was no look of fear in her, it was...odd. Why wasn't she avoiding? His mind raced for a logical explanation, but he was too busy trying to stop himself. Again, this was bad.
"Maybe I'll let you see." She kept standing there. And Izaya ran into her, blade first. He had a look of absolute horror as he saw that she didn't bleed. What the hell was she? His grip on the blade faltered, and he could feel himself letting go. What was this? He never dropped his sword, never. She just stood there, the long sword in her abdomen. She looked up at him, and the smile returned on her face. "Let me show you what I mean." She touched the blade, and it...dissolved? That couldn't be. It sort of, melded with her. What was this? He must be dreaming, that would explain it. Izaya could no longer keep the look of panic off his face. This had to be dreaming, this was just too messed up.
"What are you? How did you do that to my zanpakto?" She walked closer to him, with the smile widening. She leaned over to him and placed her left hand on his cheek. "Because, my dear Izaya, I am your zanpakto. You tried to leave me because of my shape and size. I couldn't help being a nodachi. You tried to use me, and that made me happy. But, you were never content with just me, you always had to use other methods too. You could never just love me. When I tried to call out to you, you ignored me. Why would you ignore me Izaya? I only want to help you, make you stronger. Why can't you just love me?"
This was too much. There was no way, this was too wierd. But, what she said made sense. It was...logical. As much as it didn't make sense to him, he was surprised by how easy he could wrap his head around it. It was almost wrong how right it was. But, then, he realized something else. His zanpakto had an obsession with him. An unhealthy one. It didn't want to just be his sword, it wanted to be his everything, and he couldn't have that. "So, you're my zanpakto? Why should I believe you? Maybe this is all some clever illusion. You don't know me. Anyone who had basic powers of observation and acting could say what you just said." He stepped back from her, a considerable distance.
"You're always cold. You're always cold and you hate it. But not here, here you can be warm. I know you Izaya, I have spent so much time with you. And the time spent away from you only made me think of you more. Izaya, you know this is true. It's logical, and you love logic." She took steps towards him, trying to bridge the gap. Her eyes showed a longing, almost a lust. This was, just too wierd. But, she was right. He wasn't cold, it was a nice feeling. He didn't feel angry or upset. He just felt...alive.
"If you're my zanpakto, then what's your name? What's your power? Why do I need you?" Izaya knew how to take advantage of a situation. She was desperately longing for him, wanting his approval. He could con that information out of her. Then, well, he could reach that point when he came to it.
"I can't tell you any of that, but I can show you." She extended both arms and snapped her fingers. Two nodachi formed. One in each hand. She threw one to Izaya. "You'll need this. Protect yourself, my love." She unsheathed the nodachi she had and pointed it at Izaya. He unsheathed his and held it loosely over his shoulder, the blade behind his back. He watched her intently, this was it.
"What the?" He started to say, but stumbled. He couldn't look through his eyes without becoming more confused. The nodachis in their hands were replaced by small knives. Maybe a switchblade? How did that happen? He placed his nodachi in a defensive stance, right in front of him. He couldn't play this nonchalant, he had no clue what was going on. Both the women engaged the mechanism on their knives, in perfect sync.
They walked forward, again, in perfect sync. This was freaky. They began to charge, and were both going to use vertical swings. He had the advantage of length. If he placed his block just right, he could catch both blades. He blocked horizantally and saw that he was right, both knives were caught by his nodachi. The women ducked under the nodachi and went to stab upward into his chest. He couldn't avoid them both, so he swung his nodachi at the one dressed in red. That didn't discourage her, as she dodged, but it was wrong. She dodged, almost into the blade, he physically saw it pass through her. What was worse is that the one clad in blue made the same motion. They were in sync to the detail. He saw both blades sink into him, but only felt one wound. He looked at his chest, and saw that the blood was in the middle of where the two knives were stabbing him.
He placed his right hand on one of the knives, and it went right through. There was nothing there, this was all some kind of trick. He realized he couldn't fight like this. He had no clue what sort of math was involved or what was causing this illusion. He dropped his nodachi and took three steps back. He could feel his back hit a marble pillar. He looked at the two women as they closed their blades and merged together. They formed the woman in white. She was carrying her own nodachi instead of the switchblades the two had. She squeezed hers and it merged with her, she pointed at the one he had used and it did the same.
She walked closer and closer towards him. She had her smile back, it was wrong. So wrong. But, it fit her better than the smile. He realized that the noise in his head was gone. And that was some small comfort. She got inches away from him, and looked down at him. She frowned at this, and decided it was wrong. She squated slightly so that she was about two inches shorter than him. She pressed herself up against Izaya, almost crushing him against the pillar. "Where you seeing double dear? You see, that's what I can do. I make them see two. It almost makes me envious, your enemies, the one you're trying to kill, get to see you twice. How lucky are they? But, as you noticed, neither of what the see is the real you. You're right in the middle, as I was. That's why I cut you where I did." She looked at the wound in his chest and layed her head near it, and looked up at him with a smile.
"What is, your name?" He looked up. He didn't care about her obsession with him, but her power...was useful. It had kicked his ass, even when he had the upper hand in terms of range and destructive force. That was nice, it was a game-changer.
"Haishutsu Megami."
"Emission Goddess...fitting."
When he woke up, he discovered himself on the rooftop. He didn't have the wound in his chest, but he was in a cold sweat. He looked around, the world looked the same, bleak and full of ants. But, for his future opponents, there would be twice as many ants. He shivered and scowled. He hated being cold. One of his squad-mates told him he could wear a coat over his uniform, and he knew just the one he wanted.
Part V-Finding Friends
One day, Izaya was just out taking a nap in the forest on the outskirts of the Rukongai. He was rudely awakened by the arrival of a much larger man than himself. This man was named Tels Nelvin and he began to talk to Izaya. After a while, the two Shinigami decided to have a meal together. They traveled back to the District where Izaya grew up to eat at the Crow's Lodge. There they stopped a disturbance and had a small little meal. Afterwards the two decided that they would spar.
They met at the Training Grounds and began with a little hand to hand combat. At this, Izaya highly excelled over Tels. His advantage ended when he went to block a punch from the larger man with a knee. This dislocated his leg and he had to have Tels pop it back into place. After this they decided to use actual real swords. During this time, Izaya got shot by a kido from Tels which bloodied him. This was bad. Going crazed, Izaya dealt damage to Tels while ignoring all the damage he himself sustained. He was about to go for a final move when he finally regained control and used Shunpo to go to the Infirmary. He never saw Tels again after that point.
The other "friend" he found would change his life, and get quite the story out of. This, of course, was Kin. He first met Kin when he was bored and on duty one day in the Seireitei. They had a small kido off which resulted in his defeat and him having to promise to obtain paper for her. When he did this, he ended up setting one of her squadmates on fire by trying to clean up a "mess" he had made with a little kido. Kin was not impressed by this. He ended up bringing food to her room (mainly to find her room in case he needed leverage in this relationship). She kicked him out of her room after she was finished eating. Oddly enough, that was the one relationship he ended up keeping.
Izaya would have another noteworthy encounter with Kin at a dinner party that his division threw. Being the highest seat who had "free time", Izaya had to plan out most of the party and represent his division at the event. As such, he needed a date for the occasion. Who else should he ask but Kin? No seriously, who else was there? Either way, at first Kin seemed reluctant to join in the festivities. Then Ukitake-taichou got a nosebleed and Yukishiro-taichou appeared. Apparently, something she said made it imply that Kin and Izaya were involved. Kin didn't like that either. She freaked out and screamed that she had no feelings for him then asked him to get her water.
Even Izaya couldn't deny that that didn't imply anything. He went to the bar and ordered her bowl of water. He also ordered some strong alcohol. Izaya wasn't a drinker but he needed something to get through this. He wasn't yet ready to face his own conflicted feelings for Kin and he needed to escape having to deal with them. This alcohol proved to be extremely strong and really kicked his ass. He spent the rest of the night in an incoherent slur before eventually asking Kin to dance and proclaiming his "love" for her. She refused to dance with him and even freaked out on the drunken Shinigami. Feeling very drunk and confused, Izaya proceeded to yell at Kin and tell her how all of what had happened was her fault and not his own. He then left and passed out in a drunken haze.
Part VI- A Falling Star Arc
He was awoken the next morning by a couple sharp knocks at the door. Stirring a bit, he slipped out of his suit and into his uniform. He had an assignment that he had to get to. Considering his hangover, that wasn't the best thing. However, the first thing he did after getting this assignment was going to find Kin. He couldn't remember exactly what happened but knew that she was involved with the night before. He found her and proceeded to explain that he didn't know what happened. She looked, fragile. Kin looked as if she hadn't slept the night before and that bothered Izaya. He didn't know why, but it bothered her that she wasn't okay. Promising her that he'd come back unharmed and they'd have dinner, Izaya left her to sleep and walked through the Senkaimon himself.
When he arrived in the world of the living, Izaya realized that he'd never been to this region before. The language on the street signs and that spoken of the natives sounded foreign to him. Maybe it was Spanish. Either way, there he met his first Arrancar. Actually, there was two of them. The were twins and he fought the more aggressive of the pair. He spent the whole time flirting with them while trying to find out why they had to stay so close together. He eventually separated the two of them and was able to completely overpower his combatant.
That was when things took a turn for the worse. Their "Espada", Celia, showed up and was not happy at the fact that Izaya was about to slit Adela's throat. She countered his attack and threw him off balance. Then, as he tried to escape, she shot some kind of blast at him that tore off his right arm and sent him flying. He fell to the ground quickly in a collision that shattered both his Shikai and his rib cage. He also dislocated his hips and left shoulder as he settled on the ground. Celia then stomped on his left leg, tearing muscles, and telling him that she would not give him the comfort of death. He passed out as an emergency team arrived to access the damage caused by his fight and bring him back to the Seireitei.
When he awoke, he was in the fourth division's infirmary. The first thing he noticed was his rib cage was in immense pain as he tried to sit up. He didn't have time to dwell on that or his missing arm for long as Kin burst into the room. She was so upset about his injury which was surprising. Izaya now knew about his feelings for her and it seemed that they were reciprocated. After all, why else would she be so pissed about something that didn't actually hurt her. However, Izaya's suspicion had to go unanswered as she tried to heal him (unsuccessfully) then left so he could get some rest. He would have a hard time getting to sleep after that encounter.
Part VII-Injury and Recovery
Izaya awoke when Kin came back to visit him again. This time she brought a treat called moshi (which was hard to get down because of his ribs). They talked for a short period of time and then Kin tried, in vain, to heal him again. She explained that it had gotten not even remotely better and every attempt to fix a knot was ensued by the forming of new knots. Then, in a moment of emotional betrayl, Izaya told Kin that she was on the very short list of things he didn't want to lose. That, apparently, was too much for the smaller Shinigami. She then darted out of the infirmary, leaving Izaya to recover alone.
As soon as he was released from the infirmary, Izaya went after Kin to talk to her. He grovelled outside her door for a bit professing how he felt about her and how he hated feeling that way. Finally, she opened the door and they talked outside for a while. She was making him jump through hoops because she had the power in the relationsip now. But he didn't mind all that much. Then he came inside and they ate the same meal that he had gotten for her before. This time, however, there was tension. Not only that, behind this conversation there was emotion (or at least from Izaya). Finally, in a random act of endearment, Kin hugged him. It felt magical. He didn't feel cold in this hug which was amazing. When he asked if this could be the norm, she rejected this and told him to leave. He readily complied.
After that incident, he made it his goal to go to get his arm fixed. With that, if nothing else, his life would return to normal. He had been disowned from his clan, couldn't use Shikai, and had probably lost Kin as well. As such, he went to see Yukishiro-taichou, head of Squad 4. He asked her if she could reattach his arm if he could get a new one made. She informed him that he should just go to see Kurotsuchi-taichou, head of the Department of Research and Development. Supposedly, growing back a limb would be child's play for this mad genius. The captain also promised him that no experiments would be performed upon him while he was in Kurotsuchi-taichou's care.
Between these two visits however, Izaya met someone else he would consider a "friend." While trying to use his Shikai, Izaya met Yumiko who was almost obnoxious in her outgoing humor. They talked about his obvious injuries while they sat in the training grounds. He opened up to her about how he had become attached to someone and how she had failed to return his feelings. Despite her smartass remarks, Yumiko seemed more than willing to listen and could empathize on how he was currently feeling. They talked a bit more before deciding to go get something to eat. They went to a dingy stand that sold soup and had some more meaningful after-diner conversation. It felt nice to have actual conversation with someone but it wasn't the same as Kin.
When the day came, Izaya willingly (and naively) walked to the Department of Research and Development to meet Kurotsuchi-taichou. Before he met with the captain he had to deal with some member of the 12th Division who gave him the basic overview of how everything would be. Then he was left waiting for a half hour until the rather creepy captain came in and talked for a bit. Then things spiraled out of control quickly. Mayuri inject him with the thing required to regrow his arm while warning him of slight discomfort. What would ensue was extensively more unpleasant than slight discomfort. It was the epitome of pain. It was pure, undadulterated pain in degrees that Izaya could hardly fathom. He thrashed about for a bit before the arm was completely restored. His reiatsu flared up, now being whole once more. After he peeled off the excess, he was free to leave.
With his arm fixed, he went to see Yukishiro-taichou once more. His ribs could fix themselves now, but he wasn't exactly keen on waiting for that to occurr naturally. With his arm back, he had more confidence concerning his approach. He went to her house and asked her to heal him. She oblidged, although perhaps a bit reluctantly. After that, she went further to give him solid food which he hadn't had in two months. It tasted delicious and he appreciated her genorosity as well as the fact that now he could handle anything. She then went on to give him a kimino so that he could walk back to his quarters without being half exposed. After this meeting, Izaya was once again at 100%. He could take on anything.
Part IIX-Further Development
One day Izaya was sent on an assignment to the World of the Living where he came across an Arrancar that was a little different than the ones he'd met before. This Arrancar didn't want to fight but Izaya was still upset from Celia. They had a fight during which Izaya broke his own Zanpakuto to force the effects of his Shikai onto the stronger combatant. He was able to wound him before he passed out from over exertion. Izaya woke up in a cave where he talked to the Arrancar who had decided to save him. They talked for a while about getting stronger and Espadas as well as Captains. Izaya eventually left despite his ribs being in poor shape and hobbled along until he opened a Senkaimon and left.
Somewhere around this time, Izaya tried to train when he happened along Kin. She watched him as he practiced his Hakuda before he confronted her on her presence. They had a small discussion concerning his expulsion from his clan and his growing strength before things escalated. Izaya dared her to either admit to her feelings or stab him through the heart but that seemed to be the wrong thing to do. She headbutted him and gave him a lecture concerning what had happened when he was intoxicated. Facing this, he embraced her (awkwardly) and proclaimed his feelings for her. She was hesitant to accept this but he tried to show her his sincerity by giving her his jacket and his Zanpakuto.
During this time, Izaya took to sleeping on the roofs of the building in the fourth division barracks to wait for Kin to give him back his things and admit her feelings for him. However, he had to attend a party for someone getting promoted to the fifth seat of his company. He saw that it was Yumiko and that complicated things due to her attitude concerning him. She proceeded to flirt with him which he reciprocated to try to break her persona. He didn't believe her flirtation was really how she acted and he wanted to prove it. He decided to tell her about himself and Kin when it seemed that she developed actual feelings for him. They got into a conversation concerning his "love" for her and he slipped into his crazed form. When he came to, he was kissing her and she was covered in blood from her neck. Dropping her, he went to his room and tried to get the taste of blood out of his mouth.
While he was waiting for Kin to respond to him he ended up having to spar with Seiji. Izaya really didn't want to fight Seiji but it seemed kind of pushed upon him unnecessarily; it would be a sign of weakness to refuse. Without his Zanpakuto, Izaya matched up with Seiji's power level perfectly and they were pretty even. They damaged each other quite a bit before Seiji fell because of his injuries and Izaya did so because of his exhaustion. When he woke up he was in the infirmary as Seiji had brought him there. Izaya mindlessly assured Seiji that trying to get stronger was well worth the effort and that he shouldn't give up. Then the two parted ways as Izaya needed to sleep.
Later Izaya found Kin as she was leaving her room. As he had been
Shortly after he was walking and found Yumiko in his company's barracks. He didn't want to cause a scene but apparently she felt the need to impose herself upon him with conversation. She tried to convince him that he had played some kind of part in kissing her and even inferred that he had even initiated it. He refused to hear any of this but accepted her as a friend and she accepted that he was to be with Kin and she must not ruin that. She ended this with the sudden realization that she had to work that day; Izaya was just a bit disappointed in her punctuality.
Finally, on an assignment to the World of the Living Izaya realized what exactly it meant to be in an extremely awkward situation. He was deployed with Yumiko, Kin, and his Captain. His opponent was initially Celia until Renji robbed him of his chance to get even with the Espada. Forced to turn his attention to Adela and Neva Izaya faced them in their conjoined Resurrecion. It looked very obscure and he had a hard time dealing with it until Yumiko got cut down and Kin yelled at him to get serious. Izaya did as he was told until he noticed that a Vizard was trying to stab Kin. Telling his opponents goodbye, he disappeared to take the blade through his midsection before stabbing the Vizard in the collar. He passed out from blood loss after he told Kin that he loved her. That was enough.

Zanpakuto
--------------------
Name: Haishutsu Megami
Translation - Emission Goddess
Unreleased Appearance
When sealed, Izaya's zanpakto is in the form of a nodachi. It's hilt is slightly shorter than most hilts (only being nine inches long). The blade is average length for most nodachi (forty-eight inches (or four feet)). As it would imply, this makes it very difficult to wield (especially with one hand). Due to its length it is very heavy and requires training and basic upper body strength to use even semi-effectively.
The hilt of the sword is decorated with a pale purple. If one were to look close it would see that there is a design resembling waves (such as light waves or sound waves) on the material. The hand guard is in the shape of an eye (that kind of oval shape). The guard is relatively small though, only being two inches across and an inch wide (across is from point to point).

Zanpakuto Spirit
--------------------
Name: Haishutsu Megami
Gender: Female
Spirit Appearance
Haishutsu Megami stands 5'7" and weighs 130 lbs. She has shoulder length white hair that curls towards the bottom. Her frame is a thin one, almost fragile. She had a thin face that leads to a thin body. She is very pale, and her white hair does nothing to offset the appearance that she looks almost ghostly. Her only aspect with color is her pale purple eyes, which almost look white themselves. They are noted to be vibrant though, seeming full of color despite being pale.
She wears a white dress. It flows down past her knees (about to the middle of her shins). The dress isn't very intricate, but it too holds the pattern of the waves (as with the hilt of Izaya's zanpakto). The waves are made in lace and flow horizontally in rows from her waist down. She wears white sandals that resemble what a shingami might traditionally wear.
Personality
She is soft spoken and compassionate. Her views are often the opposite of Izaya's. She cares about people deeply, especially Izaya. She is very protective of him, to the point of obsession. She claims to love him, as well as to be in love with him. Because of this, she is often willing to side with him against him enemies, growing angrier at the chance he may get hurt.
She detests killing, to the point of working against Izaya if he were to attempt to kill someone. This detest can even lead to the slaying of hollows, much to Izaya's dismay. She has once sealed herself to keep him from using the power of his shikai against a hollow he could have easily beaten without.
She attempts to quiet Izaya when he goes berserk after being bloodied. Haishutsu tries to help him regain his sanity, often to no avail. However, when Izaya feels he is close to death, he generally calms down and fights more strategically, while she just becomes enraged. This is why Izaya often says they have an eternal conflict in interests.
Relationship to Master
Haishutsu is obsessed with Izaya. She often proclaims her love for him whenever he goes into her inner world. Because of this obsession she is very protective, almost possessive. That is the reason why she goes out of her way to ensure he isn't cold while with her, as she feels he might be less bitter that way. She claims to want what's best for him, despite their conflict of interests.
Since Izaya's injury, Haishutsu Megami has become adament in her attempts to help him get stronger and become safe. While she does not agree with his obsession with revenge, she does understand the need for him to get stronger. This caused for a conflict of interests within her as she worries that him getting stronger will put him in harm's way again. However, if she doesn't assist in his quest to get stronger, he might get seriously injured again.
Inner World
As she is a goddess, her inner world resembles a temple to her. It has marble floors and columns within it. It is shown to have intricate carvings of heros slaying monsters and small statuettes of herself and other supposed "gods". There are white tapestries and silks. At the far end of the temple, there is a small altar which she is often seen around. She generally sits on the altar nonchalantly but sometimes sits behind it or is seen kneeling in front of it.
