With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

Soifon's attention went to a rather stealthy, but overzealous member of her squad as she came up with another report in what may well have been thoroughly impressive if it weren't for the fact Sayuri ended up no her butt as she were surprised at Soifon being an obstacle. Still, her ability to come to a quick halt wasn't bad at all.
Soifon gazed at her as she composed herself, then held out the report.
It wasn't exactly late since she had spies, and agents everywhere at all times, but it was not the best time for it to arrive.
She cocked an eyebrow in mild annoyance as she looked down at the girl on the floor. She already had her hands full with other finished reports, but she said nothing at the density, and dare she think, insensitivity of her subordinate in simply offering to make the load heavier, and more awkward.
Instead she looked at her Vice Captain, "Our report delivery is postponed until I complete the new report," she said without care that the delivery might be late, or that it'd hold up any of her subordinates, or anything else for that matter.
Her gaze went to Sayuri, "You'll set the report on my desk," she said in her usual authoritative tone, "Come," she barked the addition as she turned on a heel, then walked right back into her office, set the stack of papers on one side of her floor level desk.
She sat on her legs then faced the pair of Squad 2 members with a serious look on her face as she waited for her Vice Captain to put the papers on the desk, and the subordinate to put report on her desk. Soifon wasn't much of a fan for chairs as she felt sitting on her legs was more of a test of endurance, but there were chairs for any guest that felt they needed them.
"You'll both stay until the report has been gone over, and then help carry the reports to their destination." The VC was here anyhow, and helping, and perhaps she wanted to have Sayuri punished, or just be hard on her which shouldn't have been much of a surprise. Either way it was apparent they were both going to stay, and help deliver the papers.
Yukino began on her reports, it was mostly Hollows, Menos, or disturbances in the rukongai. By the time she was on her 4tenth report she coud have quessed what it was without even looking at it. With a modern pen she wrote on the papers efortlessly. Her hand kept on moving eve when there wasnt anything to right, due to force of habbit. When she noticed what she was doing she quickly stoppped. Just as she finnished one paper, a collusion with her Taichou and a 2nd division shinigami took place.
Yukino stared at the shinigami. She had never seen her before but she was most likely the new 5th seater. She could feel her spiritual energy approching a long time ago but never assumed that she would actually have the nerve to bump into Soifon-Taichou. Yukino stared with a blank expression at her but then noticed she had work to do. Her head was once again facing the papers. Soifon could definatly handle the situation while she worked on the dreaded paperwork.
At last she was finneshed when of course more paperwork arrives. What a drag. Yukino glared at the 5th seater with a sign of frustration and thee looked away. "You'll both stay until the report has been gone over, and then help carry the reports to their destination." Soifon said with that same authortive tone. Carrying the paperwork wasn't a problem, however waiting in the room with another shinigami besides Soifon was. This could lead into a conversation or any social thing. Yukino nodded her head at Soifon when she told both of them to stay. She didnt want to, but orders were orders.
Sayuri's shoulders slumped a little as her brow furrowed in reaction to Soifon's orders -- paperwork... here she just finished hers and sought to turn in it immediately to be efficient, but in reality just created more. It truly was a punishment in Sayuri's mind. It is the very thing that caused Sayuri leave her 7th Seat position in the Kidou Corps, doing nothing but endless amounts of reading and studying countless tomes and scrolls repeatedly, and then writing reports on various findings; and this was on top of the studies one already did when studying to learn their Kidou spells and technique. It was mentally draining and tiresome work with no end to the amounts of tedium involved.
Though, she obeyed as she always has, her Captain - Soifon, and without a word or a complaint she complied, and moved over to help the Vice-Captain with the paperwork. Though she did not visibly show it, she was already growing restless. She felt the glare of her Vice-Captain... within a matter of a minute she managed to vex both her Captain and Vice-Captain. This was not the best position to be in at the moment, but at the very least she will do the duty that she has been ordered to accomplish.
As what is typical for her, she kept quiet as she worked keeping to herself. Out of her sense of diligence to make certain she did the job right the first time, so she would not find herself revisiting these papers again. Using a small calligraphy pen she worked as efficiently as possible. Though, as she held her head tilted downward looking at the papers before her, a couple times with only her eyes Sayuri briefly looked in Soifon's direction only to see sternly watching her two subordinates; which in turn caused Sayuri to immediately turn her gaze back to which ever paper she was working on at the time.

"No," she said firmly, and suddenly, "You two will not help with the reports," with her tone they could very well be surprised she didn't slap their hands away from the papers.
Soifon was certain there was a report on Yoruichi in there somewhere, and she needed to slip it out of the deck before others could find it, so to speak.
"It is the Captain's duty to finalize them," she added flatly, and covered her ploy with a reasonable statement. She shuddered internally as Byakuya said something similar when he met with the Shinigami Women's association meetings when Rukia was on earth. ... scary.
"You two entertain yourselves as I finish off the report that just came in, and look over the finished ones one last time," whew.. saved, right?! Now she could, hopefully, find that report on Yoruichi she realized she misplaced just before Sayuri appeared.
She told them to entertain themselves as if she expected them to immediately know what to do.
Did Soifon know? Could she know? Could it be? Could it be that she knew that conversation was torture for the two members of Squad 2? Well, either way, that was one of the options left to them to occupy themselves. They could sit in silence, Soifon didn't seem to show any concern over it. They could talk though Soifon didn't seem hopeful over that. They couldn't exactly train in her office, and they were ordered to stick around.
Maybe this was a test, too? An unknown silent test to see what they would do?
They did need to socialize to become a stronger unit when she paired them up, right? Of course it was also dangerous work and some didn't want to risk loosing friends. Then again Soifon wasn't going to throw their lives away if she could do anything to prevent it. Even if she threw them onto death ground, she'd know that there was a shot in hell for her squad to make it out, and she'd certainly pave that way if she needed to. Making friends was always an option, and was a fairly safe one considering the line of work.
So could they make friends?
Did they catch on that she were testing them constantly? They sure didn't show it if they did. Soifon didn't seem concerned over that either!
Well, that's not true. She thought about a seminar on reading between the lines, and such as that was a crucial skill in her opinion.
Soifon simply looked over Sayuri's report in silence, with brush in hand.
In truth, she did keep aware of Yukino, and Sayuri, and what they did. Now it was just a matter of waiting while working.
Yukino's mid was dazing off, when sall of a sudden it came right back to attention when Soifon senied the request for help. Yukino didn't offer to help. so eiyther way she didnt care. The numerous distractions would keep Soifon in the office doing her paperwork for eternity and Yukino would be stuck with this girl. Seconds felt like hours in the Hell Hole, and Yukino had no intention of making anything better. She sat on a chair, gazing every now-and-then to see what was going on, not much.
She felt like a four year old. her mind kept on going"Are we done yet?" It was killing her. The silence was fine, the amount of shinigami, which was three, wasn't.
The moment Soifon let them be - her focus off of either of them, Sayuri found herself starting to be able to relax a little and gaining somewhat of her usual humorless, calm self. She sat there Japanese-style on her knees quietly. Though now able to relax a dash, her fatigue begun to visibly show a tiny bit as it did earlier when she was within her quarters before arriving here. Dark brown eyes growing heavier, catching herself before giving into it she forced her eyes back open gritting out her fatigue. Briefly she sneered at herself for even allowing herself to experience it for even that trice.
Both hands resting on her thighs as she stared straight ahead keeping herself focused, and resisting succumbing to her low energy from continuous patrols without rest. She did not mind the silence in the room however, in fact, she quite enjoyed it. Quiet is soothing, noise is distracting. Whether the Vice-Captain wanted to say anything to her or not, she had no qualms, but from the look of the Vice-Captain it did not appear as though she were going to be striking up conversation with her any time soon.
So, as she has long been accustomed to, Sayuri remained quiet and to herself while awaiting instructions to her next task.

Soifon worked in the silence generated mainly by the other two in the room, and didn't seem bothered. Her paintbrush went over the latest report here, and there.
She didn't do much to help with the silence, and offered no conversational starts. In fact she started to wonder if those two would ever speak at all, but it was their loss, and not hers if they didn't care to bond at all.
Maybe she needed to change her leadership style, seeing that her subordinate was less ... Omaeda-ey. Should she run exercises in his stead? Work on making her squad more cohesive?
There were always missions for teams.
She pondered these things while she purposely took her time while she made it look like she were more busy than she was. A vital skill all captains needed.
The silence grew stronger, as the hope for a harmless conversation grew weaker. Yukino refrained from any sort of conversation to anyone except for Hitsugaya for it lead to bonds. Bonds made shinigami weaker, and she didn't want that. This is why she kept a shell around everyone she knew. Yukino looked at soifon, she was perfecting her penmenship, or so it seemed, which a captain wouldn't usually do. It seemed that she was stalling, her efforts were useless though, because a conversation wouldn't ever take place in that room.
[sorry for the wait, internet died, then i gave it CPR and it came back to life.]
Quietly Sayuri remained where she was, sitting silently on her knees Japanese style. The Onmitsukido meetings of the Executive Militia was not all that different, remaining in your proper place according to your position and rank, and sitting on your knees Japanese style shoulder to shoulder with the others in a row while furthest down the line sitting at the head of the rows was the commander themselves. Knowing her place and being silent where she was, it was far from an alien concept to her, she knew it well.
Though, then like now, she could not help but every now and again stealing a brief glance at her Captain while sitting quietly trying to be as subtle about it as she possibly could. Sayuri remained as she was, perfectly still and her hands folded in her lap as she sat.

(no worries, we all have technical problems from time to time.)
Soifon got the point. Nothing was going to happen to help bind the group together. Not verbally, anyhow.
How bothersome, she thought to herself as she realized her plan was not going to work. Not easily, anyhow.
She went through the reports, then deftly hid the one that had pictures of Yoruichi on it, set aside calmly, closed as if it were some redundant piece of trash. It was info that the CC did not ask for, and thus did not need to see.
Soifon had one more trick up her sleeve, "The reports will be divided into three piles, and we shall each carry some as we deliver them, understood?" she said in a firm, unwavering tone. Soifon stood up slowly, and calmly before she took a third of the outgoing reports, then waited for the others to follow suit. She watched them with the icy, serious look in her eyes that put her words beyond question.
"Never ask your subordinates to do something you, yourself, would not," she thought calmly to herself, and made good on it.
