Shinigami Application
[/b][/center]In Character
--------------------
General Information
--------------------
Name: Hisashi Hashimoto
Actual Age: 267
Appearing Age: 26(Actual age divided by 10)
Gender: Male
Appearance
Hisashi is a taller man, standing at about six feet, two inches tall, and weighs about two hundred pounds. He has an impressive and muscled physique, sculpted from years of building himself up to endure the harshness of the outer regions of Rukongai. His skin is a darker tan in complexion and has seen its share of scars. His eyes are dark brown, as is his hair color, and his facial hair is kept in a well groomed goatee. His hair is also a well groomed style, the front is shorter with a few bangs that come across his forehead, and the back is about shoulder length, kept in a pony tail tied with a black cord.
He appears to be left-handed, preferring to use it far more then his right. On his right hand is a large ornate gold and ruby ring, which he claims is a mark of deposed lesser noble family in the soul society. He wears a tank-top like tight black undershirt that covers a claw scar across his chest and upper abs. There's another scar on his upper left arm, and yet another small thin one along his right cheek under his eye. The first from a hollow attack and the latter two from fighting in the Rukongai.
His other garments are mostly traditional, the black kosode and hakama, white tabi and obi, and waraji. His sleeves, instead of being left to hang loose are closed on both arms with a dark red, banded wristband that covers from his wrist to about mid-forearm.
Personality
Hisashi has a suave personality, raised among nobility, but hardened by life in the outer regions of rukongai. Its certainly given him some different perspectives on life. He is quite charismatic and manipulating, gifted with a silver tongue but forced to use it to bend others to his wishes when they don't see things his way. Intelligent and calculating, but also willful and proud, he believes that one day he will rise to power among the noble families like his fathers before him and take back his birthright.
Life in the outer districts of the Rukongai has left him hardened. He hides emotions well behind a mask of smug or stern demeanor. Most sentimental emotions were beaten out of him during his time living there. Though he may have grown up without feeling need, stealing and hurting others for the sake of survival became a part of him. He's used to getting his way, one way or another. Friends are nice but are little more then pawns, whereas squad mates are just that. He won't hesitate to use them to achieve his goals. He strives for power, and authority, believing that he is owed respect.
He likes intellectual games such as chess and go, believing that such strategy is necessary in all things, even life. He's also fond of reading in his free time, philosophy and arts. Things he didn't have the luxury of in the outer districts. He enjoys praise, and is egotistical, having a great opinion of himself and his abilities. In battle, he relies on his strength and endurance over speed. He sometimes boasts of the things he's endured, and the life he will one day have.
History
Hisashi grew up a son of one of the lesser noble families of Soul Society. He was destined to be a leader one day, but not all things turn out as they should. The head of the Hashimoto family, and Hisashi's father, was a man named Masashi. He was a good, but strict leader, and not all agreed with his policies. Some vassals became greedy, and in exchange for land and title, they conspired with another noble house to overthrow and assassinate Masashi and his family. In the blaze that followed, Masashi gave his nine year old son his ring, the seal of his house, and bid him flee. Hisashi and his tutor escaped the manor and fled, far away where they hoped no assassin or investigator would follow.
The noble families tend to operate beneath notice of the Gotei 13 laws. Without evidence of treason, the fall of the house of Hashimoto was written off as an accident. No one knew that a descendant yet survived, and anyone who looked too closely was bribed or dealt with. Meanwhile Hisashi and his tutor fled to the furthest districts of West Rukongai, where few dared to go. Life suddenly changed dramatically for the young lord. The things that he had never needed for were suddenly things he, or rather his tutor, had to fight or steal for. Food was scarce, and shelter became a rickety lean to with a straw mat instead of a warm bed.
During this time he wore the ring on a string under his shirt. He wouldn't dare sell it for money, it was the symbol of his family, and the only thing he had left to remember them. He spent years living day to day with his teacher, the only one that cared for him. The man was growing old though, and his abilities weren't what they used to be. He would tell Hisashi about the kind of man his father and grandfather were. While his father was more politically minded and handled the affairs of the house of Hashimoto, his grandfather had joined the Gotei 13 and became a Shinigami. How prestigious it was to join their ranks. Sadly Hisashi's grandfather had died years ago, but Hisashi could take up that grand role.
"You could be a greater man then both of them, earn respect as a shinigami, and reestablish the house of Hashimoto."
Hisashi grew, and became a kinda callous young man. When he was fifteen, they were attacked one night. The old man fought well, knocking out two of the thieves with a staff, but the third wounded Hisashi's teacher with one of their blades. The ruffian closed in for the kill, but the young Hisashi quickly grabbed one of the downed men's swords and attacked. While they were down, he helped his old friend to his feet and the two escaped. Hisashi had no medicine and conditions were detrimental, there was little hope for his teacher. On his deathbed, the old man begged the gods to help Hisashi be the man he dreamt he could be, soon Hisashi was alone.
Times were even harder after his tutor died, Hisashi had to fight more, and soon had scars to show for his survival. For two years he wandered alone until he met a young man like himself named Masanori. Masanori was only slightly younger than him, and wasn't like many others of the region. He had a kind heart, not yet scarred by a life of hardship. Masanori willingly shared some food with Hisashi, but like him, Masanori seemed alone. Hisashi knew that feeling and didn't want to be alone anymore.
Months passed, and Masanori kinda became like Hisashi's conscience. In time, each learned the other's story but Hisashi swore Masanori to secrecy until he was strong enough to reclaim his title. Even all this time later there could be those who would come after him. To gain the strength to do so, they would have to become something more, and make a better life for themselves. Together, they decided to join the shinigami academy, to grow and become strong as comrades.
Neither were the best of students, but they shared a playful rivalry. In hand to hand, or swordsmanship classes, Hisashi excelled. In tests of speed skill with kido, Masanori was better. They were out after class one day and happened upon a young woman singing. Her name was Kimiko Kaneko, and both she and her voice were beautiful. The two men glanced at each other and another small rivalry began. They flirted and jostled each other for her attention, but in the end they both ended up helping her with some chores. The two guys visited Kimiko a few times, and after a time convinced her to join the academy as well.
In their third year, Hisashi and Masanori were in a training exercise that involved hunting and slaying a few weak hollows as a team exercise. With three other academy students, they went into the forest and hunted the hollows. Hisashi sent Masanori and another out into the open while the other three hid and prepared to strike. The term 'bait' is such a strong word, and when Masanori was beset upon by two, Hisashi waited for their strike before leaping out to dispatch them. The attack left Masanori with an injury and he fell unconscious.
The teacher of the class rushed Masanori to the infirmary, and took Hisashi aside to scold him on his response time.
"Hisashi, you should have struck when you first noticed the hollows. If I didn't know better I would say you used Masanori to gain an advantage."
"What if I did?" Hisashi answered coldly.
"Why would you do that? You and Masanori are friends." The teacher asked with a hint of worry.
"We succeeded, didn't we?" Hisashi looked down at the ground and quickly said, "Please excuse me." Trust be told, Hisashi was a little shocked by his own actions, and what he didn't tell the teacher was that a voice had told him to wait.
He visited Masanori in the infirmary and apologized, but Masanori didn't blame him at all. He blamed his own weakness at not being able to deal with the hollows. Hisashi couldn't understand Masanori's naivety, but wouldn't admit his fault. Hisashi left Masanori and in a fit of confusion went looking for trouble. He eventually found a larger hollow to confront and fight, perhaps out of some attempt to redeem what he had done. Hisashi fought like a man possessed and during the battle, the hollow's claws slashed him across his chest. Hisashi fell to his knees and in that haze of near unconsciousness he heard the voice again.
"Why do you seek redemption for victory? You defeated the hollows, your friend still lives, what more do you want?"
"I want to deserve my victory, how can I enjoy it when my friend is injured, and my loyalty is doubted? I want the power to defeat my foes without risking the well-being of my allies."
"Sacrifices must be made, It is the way of all things. You want power, but nothing is free, you will shed your blood and share your strength, and I will give you the power you seek. Call my name and take what you desire..."
Hisashi heard the name, "Akuma,...gorotsuki..." He whispered and his wound burned, the pain bringing him out of his haze. His head snapped up and his vision focused on the beast before him.
"Lay claim, Akumagorotsuki!" As he spoke the release phrase, his left hand grasped the handle of his zanpakuto, and his right gripped his blade cutting into his palm. The blade in his palm transformed into a second handle, and a black fire spread across the length of the zanpakuto. The blade doubled and parted, transforming into twin sword breakers. The rage of Akumagorotsuki filled Hisashi and with a rising twist of his body, he severed the arms of the hollow then plunged both blades into the creatures mask.
In the aftermath of battle, Hisashi touched the burnt scars left by the hollow and heard Akumagorotsuki's voice again.
"Does it comfort you, to share the mark of battle that should have been yours, had you saved your friend. Remember Hisashi, you are mine now, as I grow stronger you will sacrifice."
Hisashi was suddenly afraid, he had gained the power he sought, but at what cost? What bargain had he struck? He stared at the weapons with part admiration and part fear. A cold wind blew, and Hisashi numbly got up and headed back to the barracks. Masanori got better, things went on as usual, but Hisashi couldn't tell his friend what happened. After six years the two graduated, Hisashi tried to forget about that night, but he's certain a time will come when he will need to call upon Akumagorotsuki again.

Zanpakutô

Name: Akumagorotsuki
Translation - Demon Rogue
Unreleased Appearance
Hisashi's Zanpakuto takes the form of a katana, with the blade being 78 centimeters long (30.708 inches). The katana has a wicked curve to its length, and a groove in the blade for collecting blood. The guard, or tsuba, is a hexagon, six sides representing the six arms of Akumagorotsuki, it is black with gold along the edges. With golden seppa to hold it in place. The hilt or Tsuka is wrapped in a fine red cloth with the bottom capped again with gold. The whole grip being about 38 centimeters long (14.960 inches).
--------------------
Zanpakutô Spirit
--------------------
Name: Akumagorotsuki
Gender: Demonrogue
Spirit Appearance
Akumagorotsuki is a hulking giant of a spirit standing about 8 ft tall, He has dark red skin and a hard, muscular physique. His eyes are completely coal black, and small 3 inch horns extend from a bony ridged forehead. His hair is a jet black tuft of hair done up in a topknot, and facial hair consists of a fu manchu mustache, and a crescent of hair that follows his jawline down into a curl of hair under his chin. He wears a black wrap around his waist that's embroidered in with gold trim, the garment falls to just above his knees. He wears a similar vest, black with gold trim but open in the front to show his chest.
Akumagorotsuki has six arms, the hands of which are rugged and clawed. The bottom two hands seem to be constantly grasping, speaking of the spirit's greedy nature. The middle two hands hold representations of the zanpakuto, twin sword breakers. The top two are unarmed and when the spirit speaks, these two normally make expressive gestures. All six arms have gold bracers with gems inlaid upon them as well as randomly placed rings on many fingers. He also wears a large gold hoop earring in his left ear.
Personality
Akumagorotsuki is a greedy, ambitious, manipulative spirit. Rarely satisfied it craves wealth, power, and obedience. He is strong-willed and is used to getting what he wants. He demands what he calls sacrifice from Hisashi, something he feels is necessary in all things. Akumagotosuki wonders how far Hisashi is willing to go to see his goals accomplished, and his family name restored. The journey should be exciting but for now he waits.
Akumagorotsuki likes his wealth, and the power he holds, but there could always be more. He sometimes wishes he had more followers, and through Hisashi he just might.
Relationship to Master
Akumagorotsuki is content with Hisashi. That's not to say he likes Hisashi, just that he is a suitable subject. Akumagorotsuki would like to think that he is in charge of Hisashi's actions, and whispers ideas that might further both their goals. Like Hisashi he is pretty egotistical and enjoys praise. He feels Hisashi's greed empowers him, he wants Hisashi to become stronger. The stronger Hisashi becomes, the more he will have to sacrifice.
Despite the inevitable doom of their bond, Akumagorotsuki likes talking with Hisashi. They speak of the people in Hisashi's life, and his goals. His desire to see the house of Hashimoto reestablished. Hisashi also tells Akumagorotsuki about the world as he sees it, or would like to see it.
Inner World
Akumagorotsuki's inner world seems like a vast and ancient stone temple. Braziers burn with a dark flame throughout the temple. Carvings line the walls of Akumagorotsuki's existence through ages, depicted as a spirit of greed and sacrifice. The area Akumagorotsuki usually occupies is a lavishly comfortable room with treasures abound. More gold and gems then any man could dream of, but this is not the spirit's pride. There is a vault where Akumagorotsuki keeps what he has taken from his subjects, or at least, representations of the things he has taken. Hisashi has never seen this vault, and likely won't until it's too late.

Zanpakutô Shikai
--------------------
Call Out Phrase: Arasu hikitoru, Akumagorotsuki!
Translation - Lay Claim, Demonrogue
Shikai Appearance
Hisashi raises his sword across his body and grips the hilt with his left hand and the blade with his right. This usually cuts his right hand slightly as he says the call out phrase. A black fiery glow surrounds the blade and his hands, as where his right hand grips the blade it transforms into a second hilt, and the blade separates and changes.
Akumagorotsuki's shikai manifests as twin sword breakers wrapped in a flowing shadowy substance. These resemble long daggers or short blades about 36.5 centimeters long (14.370 inches), with with a thin divide down one side. The other side of the blade has six teeth on each, again representing the six arms of Akumagorotsuki. The purpose of the divide and teeth being to catch and hold the blades of other thin weapons, in order to break them.
**Let it be known however, that they will not actually be able to break another zanpakuto without the agreed upon consent of the defender. Even then, the rules governing zanpakuto in the world of bleach apply.
1. Zanpakuto are more easily broken when their wielder is weakened.
2. When broken, most Zanpakuto will revert to their original shape.
3. Because they are part of their owners soul, Zanpakuto cannot be replaced, however Zanpakuto will slowly regenerate if they are broken.**
Shikai Abilities
Shadow Substance
- Description of Attack - Less of an attack more of a preparation. Cuts and clashes made by the dual blades, leave a slight oily residue which is in itself harmless and will fade away within ten minutes. It is also able to be wiped, or better, washed away, if the person takes a full minute to clean themselves.
- Type - Melee
- Range - Close
- Limitation - Hisashi must strike a foe or their weapon to leave the substance on them. Its relatively weak, only requiring about five percent of Hisashi's maximum energy to active for the duration of combat, (ten minutes max) after which he would need to activate it again. The substance is also relatively easy to clean off by taking a full minute to wipe or even better wash away. For some reason the substance will not stick to those two tiers or higher then Hisashi. It has something to do with their strong spiritual pressure. OOC NOTE - *Hisashi cannot create and keep the substance. (Bottling or containing the substance will not work)
Shadow Spark
- Description of Attack - Hisashi holds one blade out and strikes it with the other sending a spray of sparks in a cone up to about fifteen feet away these ignite in a small arc of shadowy flame. The real danger is in any strikes Hisashi has made with the Shadow Substance before hand. Which acts like fuel for the flames causing targets to ignite.
- Type - Darkness, Fire
- Range - Fifteen feet
- Limitation - The attack, and the flames it causes, are only truly effective against those Hisashi's tier and below. They cause only minor irritation and are easily put out by those one tier higher, and are ineffective against those two tiers higher. It takes ten percent of his maximum power to use the spark.
OOC NOTES - Other uses of this ability include distraction (An object struck and coated, lights on fire distracting an enemy temporarily). Escape (A wall or doorway could be struck and coated, then lit on fire to prevent enemies from following). A minor barrier (A section of ground could be coated and lit for a waist high, roughly three foot, wall of shadow flames). Let it be known that enemies, coated with the substance and passing through an area of shadowfire, will catch on fire as well.

Sample Post 1
Hisashi and Masanori were walking through the Rukongai on patrol, the day had been pretty quiet and Hisashi was undeniably bored.
"Come on Hisashi, you should enjoy your work more, its a pretty nice day. I mean its not raining or anything." He chuckled and rubbed his head.
When suddenly Hisashi felt a drop on his head he glared at Masanori. The two looked up and clouds had started to gather. "Seriously Masanori, sometimes I wonder if you have some kind of gift or curse. Why don't you ask for the captain's seat next?"
"Don't be silly Hisashi, I'm not that good. Besides, I like the captain." Masanori put his hand over his forehead like a visor as he looked around in the rain that began to fall.
"Are you saying that you wouldn't want that kind of power, Masanori? You would make a good leader." Hisashi watched his friend try to ward off the rain with little success.
"I'll leave that to you, besides, they say that good leaders don't ask for power, they have it thrust upon them... Something like that. Look, over there." Masanori pointed out an overhang, and the two of them went to stand under it to wait out the storm.
Hisashi ran his hands back through his hair, untying it to let it dry. He shook his head and ran his hands through it again. He looked at Masanori who was wringing the sleeves of his kosode.
"Do you think I will make a good leader someday Masanori?"
Masanori looked up at the seemingly serious question and smiled. "What's this all about? Since when have you doubted your place?"
Hisashi thought for a moment, "It's just, I want to restore my family, and become the leader I was meant to be. I'm sure I will have that power someday, I have no doubt,..." Masanori just kinda looked confused. What he was asking was if Masanori thought he would make a good leader, since he wanted the power instead of having it thrust upon him like Masanori said. Hisashi waved it off as a joke. "...nevermind. Come on."
The shower had started to let up and Hisashi didn't worry about the few remaining drops.
"You're right we should get back,..." Masanori began, "...not like anything is happening out here."
Suddenly there was a woman's scream from an alleyway and Hisashi raised an eyebrow. He turned to stare at Masanori again who just shrugged. Then the two ran off into the darkness.

Hisashi went to visit Kimiko alone. Normally he would have been tagging around with Masanori but as it happened Masanori was off on assignment. He made sure to look his best for the visit and when she answered the door to her quarters she was surprised to see him there. It was late and she had been resting.
"Hisashi," She answered sleepily, "what are you doing here? Its late, don't you know what time it is?"
Hisashi smirked. "Hello Kimiko, I was wondering if you would come out for a walk with me?"
"Can't it wait till tomorrow? I'm kind of tired, you wouldn't believe what I had to put up with today, this guy and his monkeying around..." Kimiko started to go on.
"What guy?" Hisashi asked with an annoyed expression.
Kimiko smirked raising an eyebrow. "Why Hisashi, you're not jealous are you?" She snickered and shook her head.
Hisashi scoffed "Hardly, I've known you for years now. I don't think there's any man that meets your expectations."
Kimiko's red gaze fixed on him. "What's that supposed to mean, Hisashi?"
"It means, whatever dream man you may have thought up, you may have to settle for reality."
Kimiko grumped, "Hmph, You don't know anything Hisashi! You need to go!" She tried to shut the door but Hisashi put his foot in the doorway.
"Just tell me I'm right, and that I'm one of the best guys you know." He smirked.
Kimiko's eyes were annoyed and glinted mischievously. "What makes you think I like guys?"
When Hisashi blinked and looked at her with confusion, she kicked him in the shin.
"OUCH!" He withdrew his foot and hopped around as she slammed the door. He grunted and raised a hand to beat on the door then just wagged his finger at it. "You did that on purpose, you'll come around eventually." He winced as he turned around to head back to his barracks.
OOC NOTE - Raven has given permission for me to work on Hisashi's counterpart Masanori at the same time.
