General Information
--------------------
Name: Haruki Harada
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Appearance
Haruki Harada stands about 5'2" and weighs about 110 lbs. He's not especailly muscular or athletic but kinda average in build, almost lanky. His skin is fair to pale, and unused to lots of work or sun. His face is kinda angular in shape with short, straight, blue hair that falls to the middle of his neck. It kinda messily lays to the left, and almost covers his left eye as it falls from his brow. His deep gray eyes are an expressive and almond shaped.
He wears a gray, long-sleeved, turtle-neck shirt. There's a little silver star pin near his collar, one of the gifts his sister had given him when he graduated to high school. Worn blue jeans with the pant legs rolled up a little. A black leather belt, and black and dark blue sneakers with white laces. On a black leather strap around his neck rest strange, silver metal goggles with teal lenses. These were also a gift from his sister.
His chain of fate falls to just above his waist and doesn't appear to be encroaching rapidly but events could change that.
Personality
Haruki is still kinda childlike in attitude. His natural curiousity and a bit of a rebellious streak, made him sneak out at night to follow his sister, which led to his death. He's not overly athletic or smart, nor does he have any truely remarkable talents to his knowledge. While he lived he had a few good friends, he enjoyed hanging out with them and playing games, and his favorite growing up was hide and seek.
Haruki sees his family and wishes he could talk to them but that's no longer possible. Mostly he wishes he could tell his sister, Ayako, that what happened wasn't her fault. Her sadness makes him sad too, but Haruki was glad he saved his sister and would do it again if he could. No longer able to touch people or do the things he used to upsets him, and he hates the powerless feelings he has.
There's a sense of loss and a sense of freedom as well that Haruki hasn't quite grasped yet. Like it hasn't quite sunk in that he's dead. For the most part, Haruki is confused. He's not sure why his spirit lingers on, what to do, or where to go. There's a lot of new things he can see that scare him, but at least he's not tied to any particular place or person. Hopefully he'll find out what he's supposed to do before its too late.
History
Haruki was raised in a small loving family. There was his mother, his father, and his teasing but kind-hearted, three-year older sister, Ayako. She wasn't happy to not be the only child anymore but came to accept it. As they grew, she practically took care of him when his mom and dad were working or unavailable.
Haruki loved his big sister, they did all kinds of things together. No matter how much she messed with him, he knew she cared. If he got picked on at school, Ayako would defend him, and afterward they would go out for ice cream. That made everything better. They played games and watched movies together and were near inseperable.
One year she got him a really cool set of goggles for his birthday. They were silver with teal colored lenses and as silly as they might have looked, they were supposed to help him see in the dark. That night they played hide and seek with some other kids for hours, and Haruki was the best.
Nothing could shake the bond the siblings had, at least until she started going to High School. As Ayako started hanging out with new friends, she slowly had less and less time to spend with Haruki. It saddened him that suddenly she would send him away when hanging out with her friends. Ayako knew it was a little mean of her, and she always went back later to apologize, so he tried not to take it too hard. It wasn't until Ayako got a boyfriend as well that all of her time was taken up. It was hard for Haruki to understand, and after that he had to make new friends.
When he graduated to high school, Ayako got him another gift. One that she said was more mature but still cool. It was a silver pin shaped like a star with five points. Ayako of course, had no idea that it would be the last gift she would be able to give him.
He did alright in high school, not really standing out among the crowd, but it was nice to have a sister who knew the ropes to keep him in line. It was half way through that first year of high school that something terrible happened.
A serial killer had started killing people around Karakura town. It was all over the news, three people had already died in similar ways, and the next person the killer targetted was Ayako. It was a dark night and Haruki had already gone to bed, but as he laid awake, he saw his sister sneaking out for the evening. He dressed quickly slipping on his clothes as he tumbled out the window. His turtle-neck and jeans, he hopped through the grass slipping on his sneakers and followed her.
Haruki followed his sister for a few blocks, and then she stopped. It looked like she was waiting for someone. It was cold out, Haruki didn't think the person was gonna show up. He lifted and fitted his goggles over his eyes and watched and waited. After a time, he saw this guy in a coat and hood come up through the alleyway. As he got closer he reached down and took a knife from his belt.
Haruki was scared but he didn't think, he suddenly ran out from where he hid.
"Look out sis!" He yelled and rammed into the guy just before he got to his sister. They fell in a tangle, and the guy scrambled to his feet and took off cursing before his sister could get a good look at him.
Ayako was his mad that her little brother had followed her, and turned him over to scold him but her anger quickly faded as she saw the knife left in Haruki's chest.
"Haruki? No."
He smiled because he had saved her but It was suddenly really cold, and Haruki was pretty tired.
"You're okay? Did I get him?" Haruki asked before his eyes started to glaze over.
"Haruki! Wake up! HARUKI!"
As everything got dark he saw himself in his sister's arms. He ached all over, especially his chest hurt, and with a start he realized there was a chain there. It trailed down towards the ground and ended in a piece of broken link. Why was it there, and what did it mean? As he watched a few people started to get closer, and in moments he heard sirens and saw lights. He was very confused, now what would he do?

Just hours before the fateful event Haruki's parents had gone out for the evening and left Ayako in charge of her little brother. They had a good dinner and talked while they ate. Haruki asking Ayako about her day, but she was pretty quiet about it. Afterward, Ayako was washing up some dishes, and Haruki came out and grabbed a towel to help dry.
"Dinner was pretty good sis, maybe after we finish up we can make some popcorn and watch some movies like we used to?" He asked with a small hopeful smile.
"I don't know Haruki, I wanna get to bed early tonight, and so should you." Ayako didn't tell her brother that she had plans for tonight. She was supposed to meet her boyfriend later.
Immediately Haruki frowned, not only did she not wanna spend time with him but she wanted him to go to bed early.
"No way, if you're not gonna watch it with me then I'll watch it by myself." Haruki said defiantly.
"Whatever,...Just remember, mom and dad put me in charge. One movie and then you go to bed." Ayako replied.
"Fine." Haruki pouted.
Ayako was sure that if Haruki watched it in his room he would fall asleep. After he got ready for bed, she helped him set it up and then started the movie. She stood in the doorway and flipped his light off leaving him only with the light from the screen.
"Ayako,..." Haruki started. "...How come we don't hang out anymore?"
Ayako stopped and turned back to look at him, it made her feel bad to blow him off like she did sometimes but she really wanted to see her boyfriend, that was important.
"I,...I've just been busy that's all. I promise this weekend we'll do something, alright?"
"Alright,...Good night, Ayako." Haruki sighed, idly playing with the goggles that draped around his neck.
"Night Haruki." She closed the door, leaving it open just a crack. She leaned against the wall a moment conflicted over the decision, then went to her room to change...
