General Information
--------------------
Name: Takei Rei
Actual Age: 190
Appearing Age: 13
Gender: Male
Appearance
Rei appears like a very anger preteen of thirteen. Standing at five three, Rei stands tall and straight to impose his self authority. Lean physique and light skin tone, Rei tries to keep in peak form while being on the run. This allows him to maintain his ninety pounds of fury.
His hair, brown with sharp features reach passed his waist, and bangs that part in front of his face, that reach to his pecs. An imposing face that always in a scowl makes him look like a thug as the bangs hug his face. His face is sharp around the chin and cheeks. Rei's nose is closely pressed to his face with a sharp point to it. It would not be described as flat, but said to be more of a thin small nose. His eyes are deep purple, almost black in the right light, but shine purple when he moves. They are obtuse, triangle in a constant glare like state, even when he's not angry.
He wears gages in both ears. Black like onyx, they leave an air way large enough for a number two pencil to fly freely through.
He wears an off white poncho that covers all of his upper body and reaches his knees. He wears nothing beneath said poncho, shirt wise that is. The collar covers a good portion of his lower face, mainly up to his nose if he pulled it up. In most cases, it loosely rest below his chin. Wearing a pair of black biker gloves, each without fingers and four small protrusions where the knuckles are located. A pair of black baggy pants are seen underneath the poncho that have two sections each with a set of three straps on each leg. He wears a pair of geta where the ha is a single centered 'tooth', much like those tengu are depicted in wearing.
He has several scars over most of his upper body and arms, the most noticeable is a large deep scar across his chest. It starts at his right shoulder and ends at his left hip. All his scars can be seen when his poncho is off or is blown upward by wind. He tries not to hide them.
Personality
As a resident of one of the furthest districts of south Rukongai, Rei has seen his share of horrors. Seeing everything as a grim and dark place, Rei learned that it was a dog eat dog world from the moment he could comprehend thought. He has a personal vendetta against almost anyone whom he sees as a criminal, including humans.
Suffering from a traumatizing event where he witnessed his mother's death by the hands of a bandit, Rei swore revenge on all injustices in the world. Paranoid and obsessive, this has made it very difficult for him to trust other people.
Despite this obsessive crusade against evil, Rei has a great love for humanity that was instilled by his mother. Her acts of kindness and working as a nurse in a rough district is the main reason of his crusade to stop all injustice.
Rei's oath to vengeance is tempered with a greater ideal of justice. He refrains from killing, if it can be helped, as he feels this would not make him any better that the criminals he fights. Other than hollows, he can't see any other reason to kill anyone.
A believer and lover nature, he does enjoy his time among the high mountains or walks in the forest. Because of this love of nature, Rei has difficulty understanding why humans are destroying the Earth. Though he sees that some are trying, seeing news about dead zones in the oceans or another species gone sets him off. He will yell at some random person as if accusing them of the problems others have caused. These outbursts usually result in him walking off before anyone can do anything about it or if it were a woman, an apology.
Women usually tend to make him uncomfortable. As he has issues due to his mothers death, he tries not to upset them. He does, on occasion, see his mother in another woman that results in tears and an unexpected hug. These incidents result in a flush of embarrassment and a denial of the event in question.
Nothing really scares him, except for failing. Failure is not an option for him, for if he fails justice fails. So to avoid this, he tries to think of a plan for all possible scenarios.
As he has Mother issues, so those of the female persuasion make him rather nervous to be around. This results in outburst of embarrassment, easily flushed by smiles, and not being able to speak around them.
History
[/i]
Among the ruins of the eightieth district south Rukongai, a young child was found among the ruins of deserted village. Mai, a young woman who was traveling through the districts to help the unfortunate came to hear the cries of a baby. She followed the cries to a shamble of a home where she stepped from her carriage to enter. Cautious to where she stepped, the cries grew softer as the child coughed and wheezed. Searching the ruins, she found a beam of broken wood over a dead body, where decay made it hard to tell who it was. She observed how it was reaching for something, hands outstretched toward where the cries came from.
Mei got up from her crouching position to investigate further, entering the dark room, only a single beam of light hit a make shift crib, and that's when she saw a baby crying with a dry mouth. As she stepped in to look closer, she hit another body where she can clearly see bits missing, Mei was sadden to realize what had gone on in this house. Possibly a bandit attack, forcing this couple to protect their young child. The father died from the impact of the wooden beam and the mother was forced to protect her child in this small room. By the look of it, the mother knew the child had to eat and not having anything to feed him, she gave him the only thing she could, herself.
Mei was shocked over what she discovered and was about to leave when the child once more cried out with a wheezing scream. Despite what had happened, she could not allow herself to leave such a young child behind and with a loving embrace, gently lifted the child from the crib and into her arms. She soothed the child with a humming song and as she left that abandoned village, smoke rising to the sky from the fire, back to a lesser of two evils in this forgotten part of the Rukongai with something unexpected.
Over the next five decades, Mei raised her new child, whom she named Rei for his parents. They tired to strive in a world that forgot them and that determination made them sacrifice everything for their child. Rei was a curious boy, always getting into a bit of trouble whenever he was on his own. He always ran back to his mother and held her dress as someone complained at his little adventure. She would never get mad or yell, but explained about the differences between right and wrong.
On other occasions he would go with Mei to a house where someone needed some medical attention. He had watched, wide eyed as she preformed miracles in his eyes. She never asked for anything in returned and it inspired Rei to be just like her. He was her little assistant, sharing many moments as mother and child. They loved each other in their one room home and Rei tried his best to make Mei proud of him. One day, something happened that would disrupt Rei and Mei's simple life.
It was around Rei's sixtieth birthday or in his case, the day he was found, that he had ran into a strange man. Knocked on his ass, Rei looked up at the black clothed man with scars all over his body. He looked like an oni with that angry look in his eyes and a certain air about him. Rei was scared for the first time in his life as he tried to move. The Shinigami looked down at the cowering boy before him, then reached for him.
Rei saw this large hand coming for him and snapped up from instinct. He started to run, radiating with a certain feel that left the Shinigami man confused for a second. Rei ran home, home to his mother who was surprised at his sudden entrance. She consoled the poor boy whom with teary eyes explained what had happened. She was aware of Rei's rising reiastu, due to his increasing appetite, but when the Shinigami appeared in their doorway, she was still surprised.
Rei sat in the house as Mei talked to the man alone outside. He overheard things about a school and what Rei can become with enough training. Mei did not sound happy about what was being said, something he had never thought he'd see in her. So when she came back in, Rei was there at her waist telling her he would never leave her and how much he loved her. She teared up a bit as she knew that one day that Rei would have to leave, but she would not tell him that now, it was his birthday after all.
Sadly, it would seem that the day Mei knew was coming came a few years after their encounter with the nameless Shinigami. Rei and Mei were traveling to another village when bandits came in. They came riding on some horses and surrounded the carriage quickly. Mei held Rei back as the leader came in demanding everything in the carriage. Mei tried to explain that everything she had was just herbs and medical supplies, but the man did not care, he wanted it. He grabbed for her, but Rei came in to defend his mother. He was back handed off the carriage where Mei jumped off to check on her son. Unfortunately, she was grabbed by the wrist of the leader, who seemed to take a liking to her. He held her close, smelling her hair, and making vulgar commits about what she could do to keep the supplies. Rei was getting angry and tried to charge to man again, only to be held back by a member of his gang. The men kept teasing him and egging him on as the leader continued to hold Mei hostage.
He flared with reiastu as he witnessed the vulgar man touch his mother's chest and tears traveled down her cheeks. The gang did not quite understand what was going on but Mei saw something extraordinary. A withered tree nearby seemed to return to life just by being in Rei's presence. Rei once again charged the man, taken aback by the flare of energy, and he felt a hard hit to his gut from Rei's tackle. It sent him back as he released Mei, who ran toward her now exhausted son from his sudden use of his true power. That is when a shot was heard that would change Rei for the rest of his life.
The leader had somehow pulled a crossbow pistol from his kimono, crude design probably handmade, and had fired it at Rei. However, Rei was not the recipient of the shot but he did see blood flow from his hands. Mei had been in front of that shot and blood had been shed from an evil man. The bolt had poison but Rei didn't know that. Rei went into shock at this display and did not notice when the man hopped in the carriage and rode off with all the medical supples that would have saved Mei's life. He tried all he could, pressing the wound and dressing it with his own shirt, but the blood would not stop flowing. His vision went blurry from the tears as he kept trying to do something, feeling useless with every passing second.
Mei reached up with a hand and pressed it gently on Rei's cheek. She was smiling up at her son who was trying to save her. "My love," She started as Rei looked down at his dying mother. He could not understand why she was smiling, but her voice beckoned him to stop and listen. "being your mother has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done."
Rei's tears did not stop and neither did Mei's blood. In these final moments that they shared together, Rei heard his mother's final four words to him. "I love you Rei."[/b] With that Mei passed on and he was alone. With his bare hands and a rock, Rei dug a grave right where a tree had started to grow. Bits of rock scrapped his arms and chest as he made sure the grave was deep enough. With hands with bloodied dirt placed his mother in her resting spot, Rei couldn't stop shedding tears.
Traveling six days in the heat to the nearest village, Rei stole supplies and continued to walk. He walked for weeks until he saw the white wall. The young man rested for a day until he took the entrance exam for the Shinōreijutsuin. He failed three times, each time waiting a year to retake it. Placed in the third class, Rei trained every day with only one purpose in mind, justice. He could never grasp the concept of Kido, to which he received low markings. Due to this, he focused more on Hohō and swordsmanship to better surprise and battle his foes.
During his days in the academy he made no friends, no bonds that could be severed or ruin his mission. As much as certain people may have tried, Rei kept his distance and worked hard to achieve high marks in his classes. He was in the top fifteen, as not to stand too much out. After graduation he was assigned to Second division but never really meeting the Captian personally. He had heard she was quite different and fun loving, but he was under direct control of the Patrol Crops, so must of the time he had to deal with the vice captain. He trained hard for the next few decades to achieve his shikai, which he thought was lovely.
During a Jinzen to speak with his spirit, Rei was overwhelmed by an endless forest where he traveled a single lit path. He couldn't believe the shear magnitude of the trees in his soul and as he walked underneath an uprooted root, brushing away a veil of moss, he saw her for the first, but not the last time. She sat in front of the largest tree he has ever seen and if it weren't for the golden accents she had, she would have blended in perfectly with the onyx bark that made up this god of trees. She welcomed him with a hug, to which Rei felt most uncomfortable about being between her bust. When she released him, she began to explain what was happening to him and how she was going to help him. All he had to do was say her name and her power would be his to use as he pleased.
He knew it, but he couldn't say it. It was on the edge of his tongue, but the words would not come. With sadness, she waved him away until the next time. He came back everyday, trying his hardest to say her name, but nothing came out of his mouth. It was only after nearly a year of trying did her name come out of his mouth. "Kuro megami no ki, that's your name." With that she gave him another unwelcome embrace, Rei got the ability to fight at a higher level. With this he was able to take on more missions where he received several of his scars.
It was during one of his assignments that he received the large scar across his chest and a new guest in his soul. A small rebel force was ironically being formed where he lost his mother. Rei recognized the irony of it all and was lucky that no one knew about it. The mission was simple, he was to investigate and kill the leader of the rebels. When he entered the village, he had to be undercover as to avoid suspicion. Donning his trademark off white poncho, Rei entered the village with two other members to search for the rebels. They made sure to enter at different times to take away anyone from noticing them.
They asked around, found some clues to where these people may be, and that night they surrounded the house. As they approached the building, the fight only latest a few seconds as they were just regular men. That is when the Hollow appeared that everything change. Stronger than they thought, Rei was shocked to see one of his comrades quickly taken out by this beast. It was him and one other against this creature, this tengu like hollow.
Rei was angry at this thing, too angry to realize what it was doing. Though the two Shinigami were strong, this thing was just toying with them as if testing their power. Rei was swatted away as his comrade jump in right after. Crashed into the building, Rei pushed away the rubble enough to see the Hollow kill the man he was sent with. Rei controlled himself enough to release his shikai and stab it in the ground.
The hollow approached him, sensing the sudden flare of reiastu, and tore open the roof like an orange. It looked down at Rei with yellow eyes, eyes that pierced Rei's very soul as he looked up at it. He looked on and in a strange way admired the creature, that it was able to take out two of the patrol corps so easily. It will not take me so easily, it won' take me. This single thought kept echoing in his head, chanting to him like a crowd, and then he smirked.
Erupting from the ground below the hollow, branches of black wood quickly crept around the beast. It struggled, breaking some of the limbs that grew around him. Rei thought he had him and pulled his sword from the ground to end the creature. If only it was that easy. As Rei jump in the air, blade high over head ready to slice the mask in two, but he received a slash of his own. He didn't expect it to be this strong, to break the thick branches that held him tight, and cut him across his chest. The Hollow grabbed Rei with his large red hand and brought the small Shinigami to his face. It was here that Rei thought that this was it, he was going to die by this creature's hand. The thought of making this vile thing stronger made him sick to his stomach, but as it brought Rei to his mouth, he stopped.
"You I won't eat, but your body is still needed." His voice bellowed loudly at Rei, making his point clear from the start. All Rei did was stare blankly at the thing, gradually losing vision from the blood falling to the ground. That was when the creature carried him off to a location far from where they were.
Rei barley understood what this thing wanted him for, all he gathered from what it said as he moved was that he himself was dying, and needed a new body to live on. Rei guess his intention was that Rei's was the most suitable. The thing dropped Rei down in a valley he did not know, making sure that he was on his knees as he landed in front of the boy. "We both know what will happen in the next few minutes, you die from your wound. What you don't know is I'm dying as well and whether you like it or not, you are going to save my life."[/i] Rei tried to protest, but nothing came his mouth. The second his mouth was opened, the hollow seemed to transform into a thin worm like creature. It leapt into Rei's mouth, bulging his throat to its limits as Rei gasped for air. He wanted to scream, but all that he could do was endure this thing entering him.
After the final inches of the creature entered him, his wound stopped bleeding as he passed out from the experience. He laid there for several hours, quivering from the pain, but the nightmares is what really got him. He stood between two giant figures, one he knew as Kurohime, but the other was new. Kurohime stood behind Rei, on guard from this intruder of Rei's soul. The thing looked around at his new home and starred down at Rei. A smile crept across its red face, exposed despite the mustache. "This is do-able, not my taste but meh." He sat down, causing the ground of the world to shake a bit.
Kurohime made the first move. "Your taste do not matter here sir as this is Rei's world and not your own."[/b] That is when the arguing began as the creature began to yell at Kurohime, but she kept a cool head making her points with precision. Each one had points that which Rei could relate to, but enough was enough
"STOP IT!" He yelled at the two giants as the arguing was giving him a headache. Both stopped and starred down at Rei, waiting to see what the boy had to say. Rei pointed at both of them and stopped at the Hollow. "If you think for one second that you have any say here, you are wrong. This is my body and you are an unwelcome guest." Rei was mad, Kurohime was calm but empathic, and the hollow just stood there. He stood there for almost an entire minute just staring at the angry boy that stood before him, no fear in his eyes. He stood until he planted himself back down and started to laugh.
He bellowed laughter throughout Rei's mind that echoed in the entire forest. Kurohime had a drip of sweat fall down the side of her face at this display of disrespect. Rei was losing his patience at this thing, now calling Rei's soul his home. "What's so funny?" Finally asking, irritation was evident in the forehead as the vain throbbed.
The thing stopped for a second, wiping a tear from his yellow eye, and started to talk. "You boy. I was right in choosing you. I'll tell ya what, I'll pay rent as I live inside ya. Quid pro quo."[/i] Rei didn't like the fact that he was thought of as funny, but the fact that he was willing to pay to stay inside him was an interesting venture. So he agreed, knowing that if this was to happen he could not return to the Seireitei, let alone the Gotei. As far as anyone knew, he died with the other three.
After a few days of rest and hiding, Rei stood before his mother's grave. He offered a prayer for the last time, knowing he'll never be able to see her for a very long time. The tree had grown quite healthy in the past decades, representing Mei's virtue in Rei's mind. With his Zanpakuto over his shoulder, he walked into the sunset for his new life begins.
Rei lived in the back alleys of the human world for the passing century, training whenever he could to master his skills. Watching the human's social evolution grow right before him. Helping those that could not fight Hollows, stopping petty crimes that happen to cross his path, and he left an image of mystery where ever he went. Whenever a Shinigami got too noisy, he left without a trail or clue that he was ever there. His life as a nomadic hero was a simple one and no one seemed to bother him.
After a while, he was drawn to a town known as Karakura where he settled nicely. The air was ripe with reishi, so one more source wouldn't let him stand out.

Name: Kuro megami no ki (黒女神の木)
Translation - Black Goddess Tree
Unreleased Appearance
A daitō with a straight, twenty six inch highly polished blade with a dark pink hamon wave. The blade is dark purple in color and gleams with sinister intent when drawn. The tang of the blade reaches straight to the pommel of the weapon inside the hilt. The tip is sharply angled, and similar to a Katana's in geometry making it a potent stabbing weapon.
The grip is 12 inches long, easily long enough for two hands. The grip is covered with white rayskin leather and further covered in braided, black silk, and pegged with silver colored metal rods holding the weapon together.
The pommel is silver colored like many of the fittings with a smaller version of the guard's design, but merely inscribed into it. The hand guard has flower-like edges with a gold color.
The Scabbard is black and is resilient enough to be used as a bludgeon in a pinch. It has a dark gold sash tied to the weapon that travels over half the length of the sword. Said sash starts from two inches from the throat of the scabbard where the knob that holds the chord to the scabbard to two feet where it's tied off again. It's loose on the scabbard allowing for it to carry things.

Zanpakutō Spirit
--------------------
Name: Kuro megami no ki or Kurohime
Gender: Female
Spirit Appearance
She is tall, nearly eight feet in height, with knee length leaf gold hair. It's tied in a way that is decorative, with four pony tails that each have four large loops that rise above her head by two feet. These loops stay in place and defy gravity as Kurohime walks.
The majority of her face is covered by a short veil, gold in color and stops short of her golden lips. Right below her lips, right where her dimple would be, is a beauty mark. The veil doesn't appear to show any of Kurohime's face, so no eye color can be determined.
She wears gold arm gloves that reach up to her shoulder and past her hands. They feather out to hide her hands from view. Kurohime also wears thigh high gold leggings that feather past her feet, hiding them from view. The gloves and leggings have vine like etches in them.
The unique aspect about her is the fact her skin is onyx, flawless like a marble statue, and has branches growing out of her back. These branches reach out to cover selective parts of her body, such as her ample bosom and her 'flower'. The others branch out in the shape of a heart made of black wood. Some are shaped like arms, with fingers as they stretch out of her back.
Personality
Kurohime is what Rei describes as the embodiment of love and compassion. She maintains a carefree attitude about everything, even among her discussion with Rei or Yama. She believes that anyone able to form a bond cannot truly be evil and will often point this out during a debate. An optimist at best, she believes that everything will work out for the better good.
She cannot help but feel great sadness when seeing great strife in the world around her. Hopelessly wanting to embrace everyone in a hug, she has grown several branches of arms to do so. She strongly believes that acts of kindness can be the best justice. Rather than attack, a loving embrace can cure the hate of those who seek evil.
Her love comes as a great clash with Yama's rage, which results in debates on what actions to take. This usually results in a stand still between the two.
Relationship to Master
Rei and Kurohime share a very close relationship. She tends to support whatever his decisions may be with love. She is there to lend a shoulder to cry on if he needs it and an ear to tell of his day. In a way, Rei feels that Kurohime is his mother reincarnated to support him.
They share similar views about nature and killing, and will often discuss these while playing shogi.
The only conflict they have is when she embraces him between her bosom. It is a bit overwhelming for him and often tries to wriggle out of this embrace, without much luck.
Inner World
A dense forest with trees endlessly in sight. The trees are so high, the sky cannot be seen. The light that escapes from the high tops of the trees are the only thing that gives off the image of a sky and lights the waving path. Roots so thick that the very ground could not hold them and moss drapes over said roots like veils. The path leads to an open field where the largest, oldest tree resides. This tree is black and mother to all the trees in this ancient forest.
--------------------
Inner Hollow
--------------------
Name: Yama
Gender: Male
Appearance
Yama, an eight foot tall Dai Tengu like Hollow is what resides inside Rei. His proud nose protrudes nearly two feet in length and as thick as three inches. Below this powerful nose is a bushy white mustache that stands out past his cheeks. A beard of white long and thin from stroking it as he thinks. White hair hits his shoulders and dangles around his muscular neck. His eyes are deep yellow with no pupils and have a certain anger to them.
His black ascetic monk gi compliments his deep red skin as it loosely fits his chest. A red rope is tied around his waist like a belt. His thick muscled body radiates with a deep red aura and wears a pair of silver prayer beads around his neck. His outfit is torn and worn as if he has been through several battles.
Wearing a similar pair of geta as Rei, Yama only shows them off when he moves.
On his back, a pair of grey wings stretch out to finish his tengu theme. They are quite large, a wing span nearly twice his height when fully stretched. The tips are crimson red and they almost appear to be dripping liquid. Yama is always seen sitting.
Personality
While Kurohime is the voice of love and compassion in Rei's mind, Yama is the voice of rage and aggression. He hates nearly everything and always sees that violence is the best way to get your point across. He speaks with a booming voice at all times to assert himself.
His debates with Kurohime tend to get wild and loud, with him getting frustrated with her very easily. Of course he is always a hot head that wants action instead of waiting for nothing. In short he is the complete opposite of Kurohime.
Relationship to Master
He sees Rei as a child needing a firm hand to guide him on his path. He enjoys the fact the Rei seeks vengeance and calls it a "dark justice" when Rei has to kill someone. He tests Rei everyday, whether it is combat or tactic, and enjoys seeing him struggle.
He calls Rei the voice of reason in the world where he is rage and Kurohime is love. Rei is the decider for several of the arguments that he has with Kurohime, and often tries to sway Rei's vote with false promises. He hates to admit it, but he and Rei share some things in common. They both enjoy the mountains and using force when needed.

Hollow Abilities
--------------------
Mask Appearance and Summoning
A deep red mask that appears like Yama's face. The nose protrudes six inches and is inch thick. White, whipy mustache is nothing compared to Yama's own, but is still impressive in its own right. Rei's normal purple eyes turn yellow while donning his mask and makes him look like a lesser tengu. In order to summon the mask, Rei takes his hand, opened palm to cover his entire face. Then he begins to close his fingers until they reach his nose, where he will then pull forward to form the nose. Maximum time he can don his mask is a minute fifteen.
Hollow Abilities
Bala
- Description of Attack - While the technique is not nearly as powerful as a Cero, its speed is 20 times faster and allows for it to be fired in quick repetition. In addition, it possesses more concussive force than a Cero does.
- Limitation - Like all Bala's, its speed and power vary on how much power Rei has at his disposal. He is new to using these, so his aim and control over them also vary depending on his medical state.
*He receives all the basic enhancements when it comes to donning his mask.
--------------------
Zanpakutō Shikai
--------------------
Call Out Phrase: Te o hirogeru (手を広げる)
Translation - Branch Out
Shikai Appearance
Holding Kuro megami no ki in his right hand, like he were lifting it like a dumbbell with the blade facing away from, he utters the release phrase. Glowing with a purple aura, the entire blade begins to change. From the gurad up, the blade begin to transform from steel to black wood. Though made of wood, the edge is still sharp as any blade. His reiastu aura is dark green when he releases.
It retains all measurements it had in her sealed state.
Shikai Abilities
Mori no suimin (森の睡眠/sleeping forest)
- Description of Attack - A technique that allows Kuro megami no ki to grow black branches from her wooden surface. These branches grow rapidly toward the target, controlled by Rei's reishi flow, to fork into several smaller branches. These branches can capture an enemy by wrapping around the body and limbs to immobilize them. It is also possible to change the ends into sharp stakes or several sharp spear-like piercing weapons. They fork out like tiny branches from the main limb. If on the ground, he can pierce it to allow the branches to travel nearly undetected until they sprout out like trees. It is a natural insulator to electric based attacks.
- Type - wood based
- Range - close-mid/ max being 5 yards
- Limitation - They only grow as long as Rei continues to channel his reiastu into the blade. The limbs can be cut down by reiastu based weapons but can hold their own against none reaistu based ones. They move half as fast as Rei can at his current tier. He cannot move while growing branches. These branches will be removed the moment he swings his blade. When this occurs, the branches that have grown from his blade gradually become weaker and form into regular wood becoming easily broken. Anything that affects wood is a natural weakness. Fire and ice prove to be the most damaging. Electricity may be ineffective against wood, but it can still heat up to erupt in a blaze if exposed for too long. The branches grow as long as Rei as reiastu to use. While growing said branches, it gradually eats away at Rei's reserves at an even pace (about 2% a second).
Damage is defined as such: Tiers lower than Rei's by two receive moderate to heavy damage. Tiers lower by one or equal to Rei's own will receive moderate to low damage. Equal tiers receive low damage. Those of higher tiers will receive low to no damage done to them.

Rei sat on a bench in what the humans called a part. He never understood the task of ripping up earth and tearing down trees for something as simple as a sandbox and swings. Luckily no one here could see him as he watched. He might look suspicious just hanging around starring at kids playing. That is except for the fact he looked like a kid himself.
How nice it must be to play without a care in the world. The thought ran through his brown covered head as he watched some kids laughing. He used to laugh like that, but that was long ago.
Then to pull him away from his thought, a red ball came bouncing his way leading into a slow roll. Rei looked at the ball for a second, the sphere of red with the yellow logo of its maker. A simple thing a ball is to invoke such joy for the young.
A small girl came over to get it, as if she were elected to venture toward the woods. Rei looked at the girl, so small and shy with those round glasses. Was she starring at him or was it just the paranoia hitting him again? She answered his question for him. "H-have you seen our ball?" She pulled at her skirt and avoided eye contact with him. She was a shy little thing and Rei felt a bit bad for her.
He pointed at the ball a few feet to the left of where she was standing, to which she bowed politely in thanks, and trotted off with it back to her friends. "Cute kid, needs to work on her shyness though." He said aloud to no one as he watched her group play for a moment.
A moment that showed in slow motion for Rei as he imagined himself playing among other children. The children were wearing kimonos and looked as if they were a plain. He was laughing as they played with a crude version of the red rubber ball and he heard her voice. "Sweetheart, time to go." He looked to see Mei standing there meeting him in a kneeling position and arms opened for a hug. He started to run toward her but the scene turned dark as the image shattered him back to reality.
He was back on the bench, the girl in her mother's arms. He was reminded once again how alone he really is, but then he saw something that made him smile a bit. The girl waved at him as she walked by and he couldn't help waving back. Her mom looked his way but couldn't see him, so she just had a confused look as she walked her daughter home.
Rei picked up his zanpakuto, holding it across his shoulders as he walked into the woods.
