Post by Lilly on Jun 10, 2012 22:44:14 GMT -5
Name: Izumi Ikashimi
Actual Age: 170
Appearing Age: 17
Izumi is a rather beautiful woman. She stands at exactly 5 feet, and weighs a mere one hundred and five pounds. Her most noticeable and, in her opinion, her most beautiful attribute is her hair. It trails down to her waist, and is a wondrous blonde. It isn’t too bright, as in bleached, however it isn’t dirty blonde either. Her hair is a sweet in-between that is highlighted in the moonlight, and shines luminously. It is straight, and her bangs are rather long in the right side of her face.
Her eyes are a dark blue that almost match her accessories. She wears the standard shinigami shihakusho, with a white undershirt. She also wears dark blue, almost aqua, tape around both of her hands from her wrist to knuckles. Around her neck is a matching choker, and around her left sleeve and waist are two matching ribbons. The ribbon on her sleeve is thinner, while the one around her waist is longer and thicker, also used as an obi. She keeps her zanpakuto on her left hip.
She has a creamy complexion, not too pale yet not quite tan. She has muscle however they do not show at all. When she is in her gigai, she takes on a more youthful appearance. She has a school girl uniform on consisting of a white collared shirt, with a plaid tie. Her skirt is plaid, like the tie, and is knee-length. Along with those, she has simple black shoes on with white socks.
Izumi is not that very complex. In fact, she’s basically an open book and is easy to figure out. She thinks quickly on her feet, which allows her to come up with very well thought out plans. Although not every mission can be a complete success, Izumi always seems to think of a way to get her team to safety. In the back of her mind there is always another plan brewing up.
She tries to treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Now, it does not mean she treats everyone with this respect, though. Instead she recognizes those Shinigami that have proven them to be worthy. Worthy doesn’t mean in battle, or just a captain, or vice-captain, but anyone who can prove to her that they deserve to be respected.
She has strong convictions toward saving those in need. From her experience as a Rukongai soul, Izumi has grown to be very protective of the people living outside the Gotei 13. She would never be able to sacrifice those helpless beings, because she knows first-hand how hard their lives are. Izumi is not afraid of taking the role of leader, and is someone everybody learns to rely on, like her group of souls that she lived with. Her comrades are always of the highest priority to her, no matter what. Even if her life were to be at stake, she would do everything in her power to save them.
Izumi has a strong passion for water, it is her greatest love. She especially loves swimming in water, and feels that it is the very essence of life. It calms her, soothes her, and clears her mind of all doubt and frustration. No matter what the problem is, she feels that water can solve it. If you’re thirsty, drink water; if you’re dirty, take a shower; if you’re stressed, go for a swim.
Izumi Ikashimi was born on the island of Honshu, in what would be today Japan’s Kansai Region, in the small province of Iga, a small mountain ringed basin. The small village that she was raised in was actually a village of Iga Ninja. Izumi was one day carried as an infant into the village having been discovered nearby. Her appearance caused a large commotion since the Iga province, at that time one of the fifteen ancient provinces that made up the Tokaido region, was very remote and inaccessible due to the extremely poor road conditions, and the bands of bandits and ronin left over from defeated battles. The villagers searched carefully but could not find anyone in the entire province that the child could have belonged to, and there were no real signs that a traveling group were ambushed or suffered a rock slide or anything similar, other than observing some strange markings.
Once it was determined that they could not find the original family of the child the villager’s decided to take her in. Naming her Izumi Ikashimi a place was found for her, as she was given to two of the villagers, who were unable to have a child. They took the few things that she had been found with and stored them away to show her when she was older and raised her as their own child. And so Izumi grew up in the village, playing games with the other children which turned out to be very early stage training that all the children underwent to master the arts of ninjutsu. As she grew up his training became stricter as she underwent rigorous body and emotional training. By the age of nine years old she was already beginning the unarmed and body control training, by the age of ten she started training in the sword and starting at thirteen she started training in specialized weapon, like the kusari-gama and hidden weapons.
She also learned the skills of ninjutsu, the art of blending in with her surroundings, both by hiding in shadows, and by disguising herself, having been trained to act so that she could disguise herself in multiple roles, how to use herbs and medicines to pretend to be a traveling healer, and how to play different musical instruments to pretend to be a traveling minstrel and entertainer, all to help in the gathering of information and espionage training. This was when she first began to fall in love with water. She was trained to walk on water, and use water as her benefactor. This was the reason she had always had a long existing, even in death, love and natural magnetism for water. She learned other things as well, such as strategy, and meteorology, how to help run the villages farms. Throughout the entire training courses that she underwent, they covered Tairen, body training, and chiren, knowledge training, she also underwent increasing levels of Shinren, heart training. At first the Shinren training started off as simple games that children played, that increased the hand-eye coordination, basically to raise her reflexes and awareness around her. As the training progressed she was placed under severe psychological stress and other conditions to see if she could remain calm under pressure and determine her willingness to kill.
She had to prove her willingness to kill multiple times starting when bandits foolishly decided to attack the village one winter. The villagers welcomed the bandits into the village, pretending innocence and once they got drunk enough, they simply slit their throats in the night. As she grew older she was assigned to join missions with the other Iga ninja who were hired to spy or assassinate targets leaving the iga prefecture at times spending varying times away from the village, but completing her missions with greater and greater success.
However, the time came when an invasion was becoming planned. The name of the ruler of the territory was Kitabatake Nobukatsu, born the second son of Oda Nobunaga who was adopted by the Kitabatake and inherited the reins. Luckily this information was obtained in advance of the attack and the Iga ninja clan as a whole retaliated, taking the castle by force from Nobukatsu’s forces and forcing them into a retreat within a year. A year later, Nobukatsu regrouped his forces and once again attacked Iga and for a second time his forces were defeated. During this entire time Izumi fought, sometimes on the front lines, but more often than not fighting in the shadows, having been grouped by the elders, into a team of fellow spiritually aware individuals who were tasked with assassinating generals and commanders, as well as sneaking in to poison food supplies or anything else possible to weaken the enemy forces. They were also tasked with taking care of any spiritual based attacks, be the evil spirits, spells, or fellow spiritually aware humans.
For a year after the second invasion attempt, it was quiet; quiet enough that there was talk of returning to the villages and declaring a victory. During that time Izumi continued training, mastering the greater ninjutsu mysteries and growing in spiritual might while taking care of some of the nasty creatures that had been sent after them. Before the Iga forces separated and returned to their normal lives, eventually Oda Nobunaga, extremely angry with the province that refused to bow beneath his might, decided to step in personally. With a force up to sixty thousand men strong, he surrounded the entire province and started to slaughter everyone that they came across, Men, women and even children alike. In the battles before women and children, with very few like Izumi being exceptions, were left out of the battles, because both sides needed the peasants to handle the fields and farm. Izumi and the team of spiritually powered ninja she was a part of fought hard, as did the rest of Iga, but to no avail, they could only slow the tide of battle a few months. Eventually they only were holding two castles by the end of the year and were in a pretty bad position. Luckily for them events outside of Iga prompted Oda Nobunaga to declare a cease fire and allow those who survived to retreat in exchange for the castles to be surrendered intact. Izumi was gracious, her comrades had saved her. From this point on, she decided that she would put her allies abover herself, no matter the cost.
It was during the retreat that Izumi’s luck and skill finally failed her, as they made their way through a twisting ravine in the early morning with the rest of the wounded left over from the battle, she and the other spiritualists among the Iga sensed a monstrous presence far beyond anything that they had faced before heading towards them. It was decided then that they could not allow a creature of such power to wreak havoc among the injured, and so the team split up into two groups, one that would try to delay the creature while the other team quickly got the injured out of the ravine and then set off explosives behind them to block off access. Izumi was part of the second team, helping set up explosives, when partway through they could feel each of the members of the distraction team wink out, without even a trace of their souls left and the presence once again moving towards them. Leaving enough of the second team to finish setting up the explosives and detonate them, Izumi and the rest decided that it was their turn to play tag with the demon. For the next hour they fought in the shadows, as the creature played with them, but then was distracted. When it got bored, it would strike down someone and laugh as their efforts redoubled.
Finally it came down to the last members, Izumi Ikashimi and an ally, whose name she didn't remember, faced off against the beast. He attempted to stab both of them, but they were swifter. He decided to focus his attention the comrade. She couldn't let it happen, she wouldn't! She leapt off the ground and jumped in front of the outstretched claw with the shriek of a banshee. Irritated, he grabbed her and began to stab her many more times before he threw her. She dropped to the ground as the sound of explosives, and a man's screaming, went off in the background.
Life as a soul was quite possibly the quickest it could’ve been. She had only roamed around for about a month, before a Shinigami had went and performed Konso on her. Her time was generally not that bad. She hadn't seen a monster since the night she died, but only saw many of her allies. She roamed through their village. She was even at the Iga Ninja memorial, in the very place where they had died. She wandered, feeling attached to the place, as if she belonged there. The shinigami was kind and gentle. He promised that he would free her from her shackles. He promised that he would take her to a place, that was way better than the life she had. He promised her friends, and family, and protection for all of them. He promised her a better life in general, but he lied.
She had arrived in an unnamed section of West Rukon. It wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. For one, there were no more monsters going around. However, she and her group of friends were very poor. It was herself, two young boys, one blonde and one brunette. She took care of them as best as she could, with a job that sucked. However, she got rewarded with food, and that’s all that matter. As designated leader of their little troop, she had to provide for the boys. At times, she resorted to stuff she’d never do. She stole often, and fought just as often. Sometimes she simply fought in defense of the two boys, yet other times she simply fought on the offensive. Stealing food and then fighting off any foolish person that dared to try and take it back. "Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn," and this woman was poor, angry, defensive, and confused. Messing with her was definitely a bad idea, as many would soon learn. The boys eventually didn't want to venture out and help her work, because they were scare. Rather than get mad, she was actually incredibly relieved. Her work was close enough that she could protect them from the outside until she was able to go home and protect them from the inside. She was immensely worried about how she could possibly protect them if they were off some place, working. She'd rather remain playing mother, and working hard to support her family
One day, as she ran out of a shop with two stolen loaves of bread she was stopped by a Shinigami. Dirt streaked around her face, and with her ragged clothes, she growled. She had to get the bread to the kids, it was top priority. Rather than actually stop her, he had helped her deliver the food to the kids.It was a huge shock to Izumi. No one in Rukongai had ever helped her, except for the woman who gave her a job. But this, this was different. He wasn't asking for anything in exchange, he was just being genuinely nice. As she shut the door, she looked at him and let a single tear drop fall from her face. Afterward, he had walked with her as they talked of her life. He seemed compassionate, but still nervous at the same time.
”Well thank you so much for the help. One day, I’ll be strong…just like you! And one day I’ll find you in the Gotei 13, you can bet on it. she chimed, optimistically.
The man merely blushed and stuttered about. As he began to depart she asked for his name.
“Kazuki Kobayashi.” He said, and it was a name that she’d never forget.
A year later, the three “siblings” entered the Shinoreijutsu to become Shinigami. The academy was bitter sweet for her, as she was pretty good at everything, due to her ninja life, but she never realized it. However, all of the other work was rather tough. For her first couple of years, she could barely study and do any book work, because she was so worried about her "brothers." Would they be fine without her? Would they become shinigami as well? Would she even ever see them again? The thoughts plagued her mind at all times of the day, and night, even in her sleep. However, after the first two years that all changed. Her mindset was to do amazingly well in the Gotei, so that she could find all three of the men she desired to see. As a product, she excelled in almost every class except for her hand-to-hand combat skills. Spending a short five years in the academy was dull, but she knew it was important to do. After all, she had very important goals to accomplish.
One day, a few days before her graduation, she was swimming in a beautiful crystal lake. She heard a silent hissing sound, and she jumped out of the water. However, when she searched she could find neither a cat nor a snake. Hearing the sound again, she listened more closely. It was hissing, but there were words behind it. She wrapped her towel around her, and grabbed her ausachi.
"Who goes there?! I'll cut you down if you don't announce yourself!" she screamed, seriously attempting to scare the person...or thing.
”You know me! Why won’t you just lisssssten?!” a serpent’s voice rang inside of her head.
She shuddered, she didn't know what to do! ”I-I’m so confused!” she cried out, genuinely feeling that way.
I’ve been with you all along…in the water, you know my name! Call it out! Releassssse the ressssstraintsssss! Fear not what you can’t ssssssee, but embraccccce it!” he cried out to her, and his voice killed the indecision.
She knew who it was, she always did. He had been with her all along, and she just didn’t realize it until now. Now was her moment, now was the time that she would truly get accepted into the Gotei 13. She gripped the hilt of her ausachi with a newly found pride, and determination.
”Drown and recreate the world, Mizu no Hebi!” she cried out, and though it was the shikai release, her zanpakuto changed. She could feel it in her soul, as well as from the blade itself.
”It’sssss about time that you lissssstened to me!” he called out, now irritated with the girl.
She frowned, but hugged the scabbard and blade to herself. It was only the beginning, though. The few days till graduation rolled by slowly, and she had gotten accepted into the Gotei 13. She was exceedingly excited, however she never lost sight of her goals. She first had to find the two boys that she had mothered, and nurtured, which was priority number one. She had quickly found out that she was being placed in Squad 3. She had heard that a Vice-Captain with Bankai had transferred to be the Captain of the squad, quite a while ago. She was excited, but she never showed it. She wouldn't. Not until she found her "brothers", not until they could be united, and not until she found the man. The man who had sympathized with her, the man who had so kindly aided her when he could have punished her, or even made her return the stolen goods. The man that her soul so brightly demanded she found, as soon as she possibly could.

Name: Mizu no Hebi
Translation - Water Snake
Mizu no Hebi has a deep aqua scabbard, matching most of Izumi. The hilt has dark black color, with aqua triangle going down. In total, there are about four and they all point toward the pommel. The guard is silver, and takes the form of an ornate snake circle. The blade itself is about twenty inches long. She keeps it on her left hip, in her obi.
Name: Mizu no Hebi
Izumi's zanpakuto spirit is a serpent made purely from water. A skull rests where the head should be, and the eye sockets are just black, because he has no pupils. Mizu No Hebi is known as a male and states his gender to be male, but it's only apparent through his voice, and more noticeable in his human form. His height in the serpent form is four feet long, but only if he rears his whole body up.
However, he has been known to switch to his human form. When he does this, it's usually when he's either exceptionally irritated with her or as upset as she is. When he does take on the human form, he kind of fluctuates because his body is still made of water. He takes the form of a small, young boy who stands at about four feet, again. He has blonde hair, like Izumi, and wears a white hat. His attire consists of a large green t-shirt, and long green pants. He rarely smiles in this form, but when he does Izumi cherishes it.
Much like Izumi, he is all about camaraderie. No matter what, he's always going to to be there to help her. He feels that people that abandon their friends are scum, and there are no people below them. Also, like Izumi, he has a strong love for water. He has a sarcastic way about him, and is very rarely serious. However, when he is then he undergoes a total one-eighty. He barely jokes, and he has a smile on her face that is really just to lighten the mood.
As a snake, he tends to be much more quiet. He wouldn't ever admit it on the inside, but he is deeply embarrassed by his intense emphasis on his "s". He is a very analytical person, as is Izumi, and always has a back up plan for his back up plan. And in battle, and training, he always talks to her every step of the way.
Relationship to Master
Unlike most Zanpakuto spirit and master relationships, Izumi and Mizu no Hebi get along great. Although, due to Mizu no Hebi's sarcastic remarks, and attitude, they usually end up bickering at some point. However, it's a love bicker. Neither of them will apologize out loud, they just continue, because they know that they are forgiven.
When it comes to battle, Izumi relies on Mizu no Hebi and he enjoys it greatly. He dishes out commands to her, one after another, and she carries them out gracefully and without another word. The mutual respect is apparent, and very noticeable about them.
However, even with that all, Mizu no Hebi does not want to ever teach her Bankai. When she questioned him as to why, at some point, he would never teach her, her Inner World turned ugly and his rage spilled out. They don't talk about it, and she seriously considers giving up most of the time. She hates upsetting him, and he hates upsetting her.
Her inner world takes the form of a beautiful coral reef, underwater. There are wondrous fish swimming about, and the coral shine luminously. Gravity has no effect, and air is not a problem. When she is happy, or just normal, her world is as stated. However, when she's sad the fish hide and the water turns a bit murky, with even the coral looking sad. And when she's angry, is when the world takes the most drastic turn. The coral all look like skulls, and predator animals come out and swim about. The water becomes turbulent and small, rapid moving whirlpools form.
Call Out Phrase: Obereru soshite umidasu sono sekai!
Translation - Drown and recreate the world!
As she calls out the name of her Zanpakuto, water rushes around it and makes it longer. As the water drops, a large trident appears. The whole trident, from tip to end, is about six feet long. At the end is just a simple metal cap. At the bladed end, there are three blades in total. The left and right one curve out to their respective sides, but upward. The metal thins out as it goes straight, and then a three inch wide ring, and then the metal continues up. The metal at the tip reaches up six inches until the tip, and near the bottom, the back, front, and both side blades jut out. Around the middle of the trident's staff portion, is a long, ornate, silver, foot long snake that hugs the staff tightly. At the snake's mouth, it is open with water flowing out whenever she brings the trident above her head and begins to swirl it rapidly.
Hikisaku - Rip
- Description of Attack - After creating an ample amount of water, she will charge reiatsu in the water and trident. The air will have a ripple effect, as water does, and after a six second delay, water will rush forward out of it. The goal of the technique is to surprise her opponent, temporarily impair their vision, and to get more water around them. If the person were to be impaired it would only be for a brief second, or two, as it is simply just water. The ripple itself is two feet long, and three inches wide. The water bursts out from those three inches in a concentrated stream for five seconds.
- Type - Diversion
- Range - Four feet in front of the ripple
- Limitation - There is a six second delay between when she creates the ripple and when it actually bursts with water. In that time the ripple can become evaporated, cut in half, or just overall evaded. Also, the water can easily just be avoided as it doesn't move at super speeds. It moves as if a faucet was slowly being turned on. and only really gets fast at four seconds.
Kenketsusen Eikyou - Geyser Impact
- Description - She will slash a circle into the ground, with a big "G" in the middle. When someone steps into the circle, it will glow and water will immediately burst up with extreme pressure. It pushes against them with force, until the column just disappears and the person affected will simply be dropped. She can only create three at a time, and each must be inscribed into the ground.
- Type - Offensive
- Range - The circle is a foot wide, and two feet tall.
- Limitation - The circles are not exclusively reserved for her enemies. If she is not careful, she can also step on it and be hurt from it. Once one is in effect, and the water stops, the circle disappears. She can create three at a time, and if she uses all three then she must wait a full five minutes before reusing it. Each circle uses about 5% of her total reserves.
Mizu Kiken - Water Hazard
- Description of Attack - Again, she will draw a circle into the ground with an "H" in the middle. Once someone steps into it, the circle glows and water snakes erupt and wrap around them, and effectively trap them. The snakes can be destroyed by use of fire (evaporation), ice (freezing), or lightning (nullification).
- Type - Trap
- Range - Circle is a foot by two feet.
- Limitation - Like the last ability, Izumi is able to get caught up in the snakes, though she'll have an easier time to get out. The snakes aren't too strong, and won't be able to hold on for long periods of time. Fire instantly evaporates them, ice freezes, and electricity nullifies them. Once they retract, the circle disappears. She can create three at a time, and if she uses all three she must wait five minutes to begin a new set. While they are trapped, she is unable to draw a Kenketsusen Eikyou within a yard of the Mizu Kiken. Like the prior attack, the circles each take 5% of her total reserves.

Her blonde locks floated on the surface of the lake, glowing as if they were made of gold. The moonlight shone brightly as it reflected off of the water, appearing almost completely back. The reflection of the moon was interrupted, every so often, by the ripples her body created.
She expertly moved in and out of the water, as if they were one. She jumped out of the water for a breath, and then back under. Her arms and legs moving in sync, as she cut thought the water like a hot knife through butter. As she emerged, she glanced up at the moon. It was a beautiful thing, most of the time.
She grabbed her uniform, and put it on. It was time for her to begin her search, again. She checked in with her post, and, thankfully, found that she didn't have any duties for the night. She would go searching through the Rukon again, she had to find them.
She smiled as she greeted the young, and old people. Every time she asked if they had seen them, she had gotten a "no." Even descriptions of Kazuki and her two "brothers" didn't seem to help. She sighed, in frustration and stepped into a tavern. She ordered a drink and sat down. She looked around, as she drank, but to no avail. No one that she recognized was there.
She walked further and further, until she realized where she had gone. The area where she had grown up, so many years ago. She opened the door to her old work place and inhaled the scent of bread.
"Nana! You in here?" she called, and soon enough an old woman walked out.
"Izumi?!" she called out in disbelief. She hugged her, and began to start crying.
She wasn't an emotional herself, but sure enough she began crying too. They sat and reminisced of her old life, how she worked, and when Nana mentioned how protective she was of the boys a light bulb went off.
"Nana, have you seen them? Have they been here lately?" she asked, as if it was the most important thing in the world.
She shook her head no, as if she pitied Izumi. "However, a couple of days ago I heard the door open and close. Maybe someone left something for you..." she trailed off, unsure if she should give the young Shinigami false hope.
She swiftly got up, and left the petite bread shop. She ripped open the door to her house, and her eyes widen as she saw that a new family had taken over. She felt so angry, so betrayed, that she was about to scream at them when she noticed something. It was a big girl, and two younger boys cowering in the corner.
Her eyes brought her back to ages ago, when she was that very same little girl. So ready to protect them with her life, not caring if anything would happen to her so long as they'd be okay. She grinned at them, and reached into her robe.
"Here, take this," she said, throwing a long piece of bread, "and if anyone ever tries to start trouble with you, tell them to take it up with Izumi Ikashimi, shinigami of the 3rd squad!" she said, with a big grin at the kids.
She exited the house, and began her trek back to the Sereitei. She used her shunpo, as she ran faster and faster. The tear drops landing on the ground behind her. She'd find her brothers, as well as him...Kazuki. She'd find them all, and then she'd finally get to have the life she'd always wanted.
