--------------------
General Information
--------------------
Name: Riko Tomoko
Actual Age: 168
Appearing Age: 16 (Actual age divided by 10)
Gender: Female
Appearance
Riko is a young beauty, standing at about 5 foot even. She is petite, and weighs around 100 pounds. Her hair is a light blue color, being different from most. Her hair is generally down, with slight waves, and extends down to about her shoulders. Her eyes are a light grey color, with a hint of blue. Because of her hair, and blue tint, her eyes may look blue at times.
She wears the basics of a shinigami student, a basic shihakusho with white on top and red on bottom. The only difference for Riko is around her neck she has an amulet that was given to her from her father. She wears this at all times and hasn't taken it off since she's gotten it.
While she is walking around in the Rukongai, she wears a kimono that is normally a light shade of blue with white flowers on it. She does not wear sandals when she wears this, no real point. She carries a knife in her left sleeve, just in case she gets attacked by someone.
Personality
Riko is a calm collected type of person, mainly keeping to herself most of the time. Timid, shy, quiet, all words described when talking about Riko. She can't help but be that way, it's just her way.
The times she becomes talkative are few. Usually when she is close to someone, or having a one on one conversation, these are some of the only times she is really talkative. It is almost the same thing when it comes to her opening up to someone. She has a hard time doing so, and has to be close to them.
Riko prefers not to be involved in fights. Fighting is disgraceful and barbaric, in her mind. The only time she would really fight is to protect herself. Even once in a fight, she still doesn't fight to her fullest, and tries to find any and every way out.
Riko enjoys the simpler things in life, like taking quiet strolls through the forest, or starring at the night sky, things that bring peace brings her peace. One thing Riko does not enjoy is confrontation. She doesn't like people fighting around her, or even yelling near her. It all just sends her brain into a panic state.
When Riko is in her panic state, she usually covers her ears, shakes her head, and tries to block it out. When this doesn't work, she runs from it. She runs as far as she can. Anything she can do to get away from it, she will try, including fighting.
History
Riko was born in a small cabin outside of the 80th district of the South Rukongai. That's right she was poor, her and all her family. Then again her mother had to support three kids and a sick father who could not work. This was just the cards she was dealt, so to speak.
While Riko was young, she was always left out of things, and left to take care of her father, seeing as how she was the middle child. She had an older brother and a younger sister. The brother was always off trying to make friends while the younger sister was fortunate enough to be able to go to school. This left her to stay with her father while her mother worked.
Riko hated this life, it meant she had to grow up fast, whether or not she wanted to was out of the question. Plain and simple, she had to take care of her father. A majority of her childhood was used to do this, a sacrifice that seemed in vein the day her father died. This was a dark day indeed. This was the day that she got her necklace that would always remind her of her father.
Once again, she had to step up, as her mother was sent into anger and began working all the time to avoid being home and her younger sister was sent into a depression. Her older brother had started working, so that if something like that were to happen again, he'd be able to help.
Years later, Riko was walking through the forest near her house, when she heard a scream. This screamed seemingly called to her, wanted her to come near, and this was a bad decision by all means. A little ways into the forest, she noticed a hand print on a tree. This hand print was blood!
She followed this path of bloody hand prints till she came upon a soul, a hollow, and a shinigami. The soul was on the gound, in a pool of blood. The hollow had the shinigami in it's mouth, with the shinigami's zanpaktou in it's head. There was blood everywhere, and none of the three were gonna survive.
Riko fell to her knees and began to vomit. The intense smell of the blood, along with this tragic scene, caused her to snap in a way. She began to cry as she stopped vomiting. She didn't know what to do, and as she looked up, with tears in her eyes, she watched the hollow slowly approach her. It hadn't quite died yet, as it went for another kill before it would be gone. It crept closer and closer, until it was hovering above her. Before she could yell, or even take a breath for it, there was a cut from the back of the hollow. This caused blood to be spattered all over her face.
The hollow faded away, and the shinigami behind it had turned around already and began walking away. He must not of realized that she was there, but after he was gone, she began to cry once again. Blood everywhere, and there wasn't much she could do about it. She could barely even move!
Once she was able to move again, maybe a half an hour later, she walked home. On her way home, she blacked out, forgetting about the whole ordeal. When she finally woke up, it was already the next day, and her mother sat at her bed side. Her mother seemed to already know what had happened, and decided against telling her.
Years later, her brother had moved away, to bigger and better things, little did she know he would eventually join the academy and become a shinigami. Her mother actually had the shinigami stop by and have Riko take the exam. She passed the exam with flying colors, the first try no less. This would but her in the mid class level though, due to her lack of kido knowledge. She would attempt to excel in everything she would due.
Riko went through the first year, seemingly with ease, and with little to no notable events. Which brings us to the current time, her second year at the Shinōreijutsuin.

Finally it was here! The last day of the first year! Riko was so very happy to finish one year, even if it was only a sixth of the way complete. It didn't matter though, Riko was gonna go visit her home, her mother and sister, and maybe her brother if he was there. It would be a good time for sure!
But first, she had to deal with her fellow classmates. This would, hopefully, be painless. Then again, she was around two other students right now, a guy and a girl. Their names were lost to Riko, as she had already checked out.
"Tomoko-san! What are you going to do with your short time off?" The male asked first.
Riko sighed. She really didn't want to talk to them, but guess it was inevitable. "I'm gonna see my family. I miss them dearly..."
"Oh! That sounds nice!" The girl chimed in.
"Yeah, I wish I could, but I didn't really have a family.."
After that sentence, Riko toned them out. She didn't really want to be there, nor did she really want to talk, at all. She had turned her back and walked away for the time being. It would be a long walk all the way out to her house in the foresty area way to the south.
Hours go by, and Riko finally arrived home! She knocked on the door and walked in. Something foul was in this room, something out of the norm. She looked around, and saw a shinigami man sitting at the table. Did they think she was going to try and get out? Why would they even come all the way out here? She had a lot of questions, and few answers.
"Oi, shinigami-sama! Why are you here right now?"
Her calm demeanor was showing once again. She asked a simple question, even with added respect. She hoped that it would be all good and well, and it would be.
The shinigami turned around and happened to be her brother! It was the first time she had seen him in a long time. She really didn't even know he joined the shinigami, and yet, here he was all dressed up.
They talked for hours on end, talking about being a shinigami and what it meant to each of them. She wanted to be one to save people, for some reason this sounded good. His reason for joining was the money that he made could go towards the family here. They both had noble reasons for joining, and both would do well, or the best they could at the very least. They chatted all night, about hopes and aspirations. This was her last heart to heart with her brother before they both went back, him to his squad, and her to the academy.
