With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
In his flash, Izaya saw that Seiji had deflected his Kido blast with some sort of lighting bolt from his Shikai. So that's what it did, it was an electric type eh? Well that wasn't too troublesome he figured, but he'd have to be a bit careful. Lightning could do a lot of damage if it hit him full on. Then this fight wouldn't end the way he had hoped that it would. Either way, he needed to be careful because he'd have to ration his reiatsu now that he'd used that Kido. He wouldn't have to worry too much...but he'd have to worry a little.
"Not bad Seiji-kun."
After his hit landed, Izaya saw that Seiji was deciding to charge at him. That wouldn't work on Izaya who fought with a style of flanking. Seiji obviously knew that a frontal assault wouldn't work on him...he was going to use Shunpo to flank. As soon as Seiji disappeared from his field of vision, Izaya jumped forward. It was good timing because he felt the wind off an upwards attack behind him. He however, didn't dodge the kick that ensued.
It sent a small pain into his midsection and shot him forward a little bit. He jumped back to turn around to face Seiji as Seiji brought his sword down with a lot of power. Izaya was lucky that he was back far enough to be out of this attack's range. It seemed to have a lot of force behind it which could've done some damage. With one foot Izaya jumped before stepping on the blade to aim a side kick right at Seiji's face. However, that would be all as he jumped off the blade and spread his body before aiming a strong left straight to the top of Seiji's head. As he landed on the ground, he made it his priority to stay inside the range of Seiji's sword. Thus, he remained inches from Seiji as he aimed a knee at his opponent's side. Izaya was used to scrapping like this against people who were bigger than him.
Seiji felt a weight on his blade, like someone was stepping on it. Kido would be perfect for this, but then a foot came into the picture. Seiji could just move away without his zanpaktou, but if he did that it would probably end badly. Unless Seiji used his shunpo to get around. Decisions...
As the kick came in, Seiji put up his free hand, taking the full force of the kick into his hand. Yeah, that hurt, but it was necessary. Then Izaya jumped into the air, bringing a left straight down. Seiji seemingly let himself begin to fall back, and with this, he brought his sword up in front of him, allowing for his blade to block it. After this, Izaya landed near Seiji, staying in his range. Seiji was still mid fall as a knee was aimed at his midsection. At this point, Seiji used his hand that was free to flip himself back up onto his feet. In the middle of this flip, Seiji felt a sharp pain in his side. Izaya's knee had connected, causing Seiji to stumble a bit as he landed on his feet. He felt his side a moment before continuing.
This was it. Seiji had been able to block and avoid Izaya's onslaught, for the most part. He was prepared to use his sword to his advantage. Izaya probably knew this, and that's why he stayed close to Seiji, heh, bad idea. Seiji brought his blade around, spinning with a horizontal slash in there, followed by him squatting mid-slash and putting his leg out, a sweeping motion, there after Seiji cartwheeled to the left to get a little distance.
With this, Seiji would go for another slash or two. Sure his blade seemed bulky, but it was Seiji's and he had trained with it for years. Seiji slowly stepped towards Izaya as he mentally prepared his little scenario. He could use the other ability, but that wasn't really going to help right now, it was best to conserve his reiatsu for fighting against Izaya's kido. He seemed to know a lot more than he would really let on. Seiji would have to fight smart, not strong. Maybe he could outlast Izaya, yes, that seemed possible.
Seiji was just about in range. A frontal assault? Damn right, randomizing his tactics would throw Izaya off, or he thought it would. Seiji made a thrust motion with his blade pushing it forward, aimed at Izaya's midsection. Right after this, Seiji used the force forward along with a tug at his blade, to slide past Izaya. He planted his leg, to get back up, bringing his blade back around, for a diagonal slash.
Seiji had blocked his kick with his hand. That had to have shattered something at the very least. Izaya's kicks were strong and they were fierce. However, Seiji's next block would hurt Izaya more than it would the blocker. As Seiji blocked Izaya punch with the broad of his sword, Izaya felt his knuckles protest to this fiercely. He'd tend to them later...he just needed not to break anything in this fight. As he landed, he knee connected but Seiji was doing some sort of flip to try to dodge. Izaya pointed his right hand at him with devilish intentions.
"Hado Number 4: Byakurai!"
The lightning flew from his fingers and drew closer and closer to Seiji; however, Izaya didn't have time to see if the attack connected because of the attack that was coming. Seiji did a horizontal swing to which Izaya ducked, however, he went for a mid-low swing after that which Izaya had to throw himself in an awkward position to miss getting skewered. However, he took a nick on the shoulder for his efforts before a leg sweep made him fall to the ground.
He rolled away to avoid Seiji's other slashes aimed at him but he took a couple nicks again. He was a bit tired which slowed him down a little but he would okay as long as he could finish this quickly enough. He got to his feet as Seiji was charging his with his sword. Seiji opened with a lunge to which Izaya side-stepped and aimed a toe kick at Seiji's knee as he slid around him. He didn't know exactly what Seiji was playing at now. But he didn't exactly care.
Seiji then aimed a diagonal slash at Izaya, but Izaya darted within his range to get around it. He ducked in from the opposite side such that when Seiji completed the swing, Izaya was right underneath his arm. He aimed a strong punch at the arm he was underneath to throw off his grip a bit then he followed up with a shot from his left to Seiji's ribs. Izaya then hopped and turned, aiming his bent knee at Seiji's chest. That might discourage him if it connected. If.
Seiji felt a rip and piercing pain in his side. The kido Izaya had used as Seiji raised his sword skinned him. It wasn't to bad, a flesh wound, but it would slow him down, that's for sure.
Seiji saw some fatigue setting in on Izaya's expression, along with him taking a few nicks here and there. Seiji's endurance was paying off now as well. This made it a decent fight, but what if Izaya had his zanpaktou? Would this fight be different? More than likely.
As Seiji took his final step into a diagonal slash, Izaya was there. What he was about to do would probably take Seiji down, if he was on an off day that is. Seiji still had a free hand as he felt the almost crippling punch to his arm, causing his zanpaktou to fly out of his hand. It was almost as if it were in slow motion, as Seiji watched it fly out, but then, almost reflex, brought his free arm over, grabbing the hilt. About that time, Seiji felt his side flush with pain from another punch. Seiji could feel slight cracking, as if his ribs were cracking under Izaya's fist.
Izaya's final attack, a knee aimed at the chest. Seiji could just block it with his arm that had just been punched, but this would further damage his arm. So this was it... He was beaten? No. Seiji brought up his hand, knuckles facing the incoming knee. Only one thing could stop this.
"Bakudo Number 8: Seki!" Seiji's somewhat quick thinking allowed him to form a little shield-like ball a few inches away from his hand. Izaya's knee would surely strike it.
Izaya was feeling quite well as both his Kido and the majority of his Hakuda assault were paying off handsomely for him. However, that's when things began to take a wrong turn. As his knee was about to land Seiji pulled out a wildcard: a bakudo. It was Seki and as Izaya's knee made contact with it he was shot back several feet. Rolling on the ground a bit, he eventually skidded to a stop on the dirt. Getting up slowly, Izaya brushed himself off before taking some deep breaths.
"Clever Seiji-kun. But I wouldn't peg you for a Kido-user. How much did that take out of you?"
Izaya began slowly walking towards Seiji with a pretty nonchalant expression. He took some deep breaths before using a step of Shunpo to put him on Seiji's bad side. With a sharp exhale, he aimed a punch at the same spot he'd hit before then he rolled forward and to his right to put him in front of Seiji looking away. Bending down a bit, Izaya brought his knee to his chest before extending it quickly to aim a back to kick at Seiji's abdomen. With a pivot he aimed a spinning elbow at the man's chest. Hugging inside his range, Izaya stayed inches away from Seiji as he threw a barrage of uppercuts to his abdomen.
Izaya knew better than anyone how hard it was to function with broken ribs.
Left hand, right arm, a few ribs on the right side... Seiji was pretty hurt, not to mention the scrap from the kido on his left side. This could be bad if Izaya kept up like this, but there was no way he could endure much more, or could he? Either way, Seiji had a brief moment to think things through while Izaya walked calmly towards him.
Suddenly, Izaya was to the right of Seiji. Almost instinctive, Seiji brought his sword so that the broad side was blocking the upper half of his right side. Then, came a kick. This kick hit Seiji with extreme force and sent him backwards. Because of him going backwards, he could see Izaya's elbow coming in. Seiji used his right forearm to somewhat block this, of course doing further damage to his right arm. Right after this, Seiji used a short burst of shunpo to get a little distance.
That kick hurt, a lot. His abdomen was aching, but he would have to push through. Seiji's right arm almost seemed to dangle there with little feeling. He had been hit hard... He would have to improvise. He knew what he could use for the next time, an ace up his sleeve so to speak.
Seiji had to attack now, otherwise Izaya would, and Seiji didn't want to be at the end of that stick again. Seiji took a deep breath. With a sudden burst of shunpo, Seiji was to Izaya's left, swinging horizontally, as he passed by, as to not let his right side be exposed. This was followed by another shunpo, putting him to Izaya's right. Seiji made a diagonal downward cut, starting with his side exposed, of course, the slash cause Seiji to turn a bit, hiding it once again. This would bring Seiji to a third and final shunpo, above and behind Izaya. Leading with his left once again, Seiji brought his sword straight down, a forceful slash once again.
Izaya had been doing quite a bit of damage to Seiji as his attacks connected with him. He blocked the elbow but that seemed to do more harm for him than good. Now his right arm was practically useless to him and that meant that this battle was almost over. He knew that he could defeat Seiji if he worked a little harder for the remainder of this fight.
Seiji seemed to know that his time was almost up in this fight because he redoubled his efforts to attack Izaya. Izaya ducked to the side of the horizontal slash on his left but it still made a bit of a cut of his left arm that stung quite a bit. Not having much time to take a break, Izaya felt Seiji appear on his right and tried to move out of the way. This wouldn't work as a deep cut appeared on his right elbow. That would hurt to bend but he thought he could still do it. Seiji had still taken more damage than Izaya had so he was still ahead in that regard. Seiji appeared behind him so Izaya rolled forward to avoid getting demolished by a huge downward swing from Seiji.
Izaya decided it was this time to counter with a series of attacks of his own. He stepped on his blade again before turning to try to kick Seiji in the side of the head as he turned all the way through. He leaped off the blade and tried to catch Seiji in the face again with his other heel. As he landed on the ground, Izaya jumped towards Seiji and aimed a left straight at his chest. He hoped that would connect to deal a bit of damage. If it didn't, he would be done soon. Actually, he was done soon anyway.
As Izaya's next few attacks came in, Seiji knew it was about over, for one of them, probably him. Either way, Seiji had to go down fighting. The first kick Seiji used Izaya's weight on his blade as an anchor of sorts, leaning back as much as he could. As such, once Izaya jumped off to kick again, Seiji fell to the ground, and then, the straight to the chest. Seiji had no time to react when he realized that he had landed on the ground. The weight behind this punch was ferocious. Seiji felt almost like his chest had been stepped on by an elephant!
Izaya backed off for a moment, or well, Seiji didn't really know. He just kinda laid there for a moment. His whole body was in pain, and he couldn't help but want to give up. But he couldn't give Izaya that sort of satisfaction. Seiji used his sword to get himself up, using it as a sort of support for his weight.
That last punch almost ended Seiji. Maybe he should stop here... No, he couldn't. It would embarrass himself, and his blade for that matter. He heard Ikazuchi talk to him...
Seiji... Don't over do it here. He isn't even using a zanpaktou, so why would you need to be better, it was just a little spar. Let it go...
This rang in Seiji's head for a moment. He thought about his next move, what he could do, what he could defend with. His right arm was battered, a rib or two broken, maybe some metacarpals in his left hand. His jaw hurt even. What more could Seiji take? A lot more, but this was not the time to do it. He had to throw in the towel.
"Y'know... This was a good fight, but I think it's time we stop. Might actually hurt one another badly if we continue..." Seiji sat back down, laying his zanpaktou to the side.
Izaya's attacks seemed to connect and they seemed to deal damage to Seiji. He didn't know how much longer he would last in this fight. At this point, he did acknowledge that he was running on nothing more than fumes. His body wasn't meant to run this long in a fight against someone like Seiji. Seiji was pretty strong when Izaya was without his Shikai. This couldn't last much longer.
"Y'know... This was a good fight, but I think it's time we stop. Might actually hurt one another badly if we continue..."
"Well that's good, because I think we need to go to the infirmary." With that, Izaya fell forward and passed out onto the ground of the training grounds. He had just given out and that was that. However, he passed out with the assumption that Seiji would help him to the infirmary. After all, Seiji was one of those good guys who would do something like that.
