Izaya thrashed about on the table as the cells in his new arm slowly began to build. It was like having one's shoulder being stretched out of socket to extend all the way down to where their hand should be. However, one did not even get the luxury of having the shoulder being completely ripped out because new cells always kept forming to occupy the space that was being pulled. It was utterly agonizing.
The worst part wasn't even the skin, it was the bone marrow. Having one's bones being extended was almost enough to make one pass out from pain. Izaya was getting there, just give it time. Every nano-meter that grew was a resonant pain through out his whole being. What was worse was that he couldn't turn it off or on, it would continue until the arm finished forming.
Finally, Izaya looked over at his arm to see that his forearm was beginning to materialize. However, the sight of it was sickening. Thinking he was going to be ill, Izaya fell over onto the floor and doubled over. He rolled his head on the ground for a second before rolling onto his back. It was just agonizing to experience this. But, knowing it was almost over was some relief, if only momentary.
After a few more seconds, he looked again and that his own skin was not the outermost layer. He couldn't tell what it was but it looked slick. Wait, not only did it look slick, it felt slimy. NO! He actually had feeling in his right arm. Not only was he experiencing pain from the newly reformed nervous system in his arm, he was getting actual sensory input from it. It was like having it back; it was like being whole again.
However, as his arm finished forming, the pain didn't stop. Blood vessels were still forming and working their creation to the arterioles and capillaries that would promote blood flow in his new limb. This wasn't as bad as the bone growth though. Anything was better than the regrowing of bones in a newly forming limb.
This wasn't the only inconsistency in his new arm, however. The slimy substance didn't just slide off of his newly formed limb. His hand didn't have fingers, it was just a blob. However, he could feel fingers underneath. Perhaps this slimy substance had to be removed. To test this out, he poked it quickly. He could feel the poke from underneath the substances, but the substance didn't appear to be apart of his new limb.
As such, he began to peel off this layer and saw what would be his new limb. It had some translucent colloid substance on his arm, like gelatin. He flicked off bits and pieces of this that clumped onto his skin. However, he peeled off the bits around his hand and then saw his new fingers. They were marvelous and without creases. He began to bend them in marvel. This was being whole again.
Then something else came. As he theorized, his konpaku was complete now. He could not control the bursts of reiastu that would ensue as his system worked itself back to normal. It was almost intoxicating to be back at one hundred percent. He leaned back onto the exam table's bottom and looked around the room with labored breaths.
And in that moment he was happy, so happy.
