The hollow wouldn't have its chance to finish off the young Irishwoman however. Licking its lips, the beast prepared to descend upon the soul of Mizuki. It took its time creeping closer, however, which would be its undoing. As it reached out its monstrous hand to grasp the soul, a sudden figure appeared to stop this descent. A slender figure shaped like a giant cat stood feet away from Mizuki, staring at the monster.
Almost in a bi-polar fashion, the creature slashed at the outstretched hand of the hollow which would cost the beast a finger. This figure, underneath it all, was Neko. He didn't retain consciousness, but he did know that he wanted to kill this creature. However, his fighting method was that of a mad man. As the hollow recoiled in pain, Neko didn't pursue his prey for the kill. He simply stood there, with his tail comically swaying back and forth.
The hollow attacked Neko once more, only this time with more force. He swung at him from Neko's left side with a great ferocity. The smaller combatant couldn't stop the overwhelming force behind this blow (he didn't try either) and was sent flying a few meters away. As he smacked into a tree, part of Neko's second skin broke away on his left arm. It was just a small amount on his bicep, but that area was vulnerable now.
------------------------
Toshioni had searched for a little bit to try to find Mizuki; he couldn't. Instead, he decided that he probably needed to do something about that hollow. Using Hirenkyaku, he was far enough away from the hollow that he couldn't get hurt by it now. However, he was within firing range. He could just barely see the hollow but he knew he could hit it. Toshioni was a pretty good shot.
Unfortunately, if he had been closer, the young Quincy would've seen that what was left of Mizuki was there. But, Mizuki was occupying too much of his mind to think about things like that. His only thoughts were that she must've retreated home after the incident at the mall. As such, he stayed his good distance away on a completely unsuspicious rooftop and fired two shots at the beast. He then waited to see how the creature would react.
The creature was about to go after Neko when it felt the rip of Toshioni's arrows hit it in the back. They caused deep punctures in the hollow's skin and dealt much pain. The creature let out a howl before turning around to try to find the source of this pain. It didn't see anything except the spirit form of Mizuki. The creature wasn't smart enough to ponder this, it just went after the soul again.
--------------------
Staggering up, Neko shook himself off and then ran right back to face this creature. In terms of reasoning, Neko was little better than the hollow he was currently fighting. No human thoughts went through his mind as he jumped onto the hollow's back and began to slash away at the beast. Blood spattered on his second skin from the hollow and he felt a twinge of pain in his left arm. Adapting (primitively), he began to only make swings with his right arm at the creature who was currently thrashing about trying to throw off this source of pain. Eventually, the hollow jumped and that sudden change caused Neko to lose his footing and fall to the ground where he promptly landed on his feet...he did that often.
The creature took another swing at Neko's left which the smaller figure couldn't block. This swing didn't send him flying however, it just dealt a massive amount of pain. There was no doubt about it by this point, that arm was broken. However, this wasn't something that registered to this beast form of Neko. All he knew was that he felt pain and he felt anger. Letting out a sharp scream of his own, Neko jumped at the hollow's neck and prepared to dive his claws into it.
---------------------
Toshioni's arrows hurt the creature enough to get his attention. But, on the beast's path to come find the source of this pain, he got distracted by something and currently looked to be fighting something smaller. Being too far out to see, Toshioni figured it was a Shinigami doing his actual job. Unfortunately, he didn't much care what happened to Shinigami. Letting out three more arrows in the hollow's direction, Toshioni decided his job was done. He'd go home like Mizuki had done and think about the best way to approach her again. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't aimed a little off course of the hollow on that last shot. He wanted to hit the figure he assumed was a Shinigami.
-----------------------
As Neko dove in the beast recoiled out of his line of pounce. Something had hit the hollow in the side of the head...twice. Neko was about to try to change his course in the air when something hit him in the midsection and clipped him out of the sky. It broke through his second skin and shattered most of what was left of it around his torso. Whatever that attack was, it was damn effective. However, this wasn't a thought that went through the mind of the beast-like creature that was currently Neko. Something had hurt him; he blamed the beast.
Slowly getting up and walking towards the downed beast, bits and pieces of his second skin began to chip away. Mainly around his legs they just feel off and deteriorated into reishi. However, his right arm still had the claws he needed. His tail began to dissolve and so did his ears, but he only needed a few more seconds to do this. As he stepped onto the beast's chest. He plunged his right hand into its throat. Watching with odd satisfaction, Neko felt all of his second skin lessen in integrity as the hollow beneath him died. As the last of his second skin faded away, Neko fell to the ground where he stood.
"Shit."
He then lost consciousness.
