With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
"That's good Mizu-chan. I feel like prior experience would just make things worse for this. We'd have expectations for each other. This way, we can just be who we are. And that's great Mizuki, because you're an amazing person."
Mizuki smiled at this. It made her happy to hear this sort of thing from Toshioni. He was a downer sometimes, especially on himself. Mizuki noted this before, but it wasn't that big of a deal, to Mizuki anyway.
"Thank you... boyfriend." Mizuki giggled as she spoke to him. She was all giddy and feeling good.
Maybe it was time to change it up, maybe lay down a different way. Mizuki sat up and gave Toshioni a small kiss on the forehead then proceeded to lay down on her bed. She patted the bed next to her.
"Lay with me, for a few more minutes, before my dad gets back..." Mizuki offered a somewhat sleepy smile. Man, she was getting tired pretty quickly.
"Mizu-chan. I'm embarrassed of my house. It's not as pretty or well furnished as yours. I don't want you to think less of me when you see it. I guess I'm just paranoid. I'd rather us not go there...but if you want to, we can."
He seemed to be a bit disheartened. He didn't want Mizuki to think less of him, and yet, there she was, thinking more of him than she ever thought possible, how could she think of him lowly like this?
"Toshi-kun, it's not about how pretty it is, or how well furnished it is, it matters that you live there. I want to see how you live, how your life is when you don't see me. I want to know who you are, fully and completely. Please, I promise you won't regret it."
"Lay with me, for a few more minutes, before my dad gets back..."
Toshioni smiled at this as he laid back with her and snuggled up beside her. Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, he offered a very small grin to his girlfriend. He leaned in and gave her a small kiss on the cheek. He was pretty happy in this moment to lay next to her while she was still awake. She seemed pretty sleepy and it was a good possibility that she would need her rest soon. After all, she was pretty hurt and sleep was the best remedy for things like that.
"Once he gets back, I'll need to go won't I? After all, you need your sleep for recovery."
"Toshi-kun, it's not about how pretty it is, or how well furnished it is, it matters that you live there. I want to see how you live, how your life is when you don't see me. I want to know who you are, fully and completely. Please, I promise you won't regret it."
Toshioni averted his eyes from hers as he thought about what she had told him. He was a bit unconvinced by her assurances but he wasn't about to question her on it. Not wanting to upset her, he decided to just believe her. After all, this was his girlfriend he was talking to and she at the very least cared. She was probably telling the truth after all. Mizuki cared about him regardless of everything that happened.
"Okay, I'll show you my home whenever you want to see it. I...I suppose I'll have to trust you with it sooner or later. "
"Once he gets back, I'll need to go won't I? After all, you need your sleep for recovery."
Mizuki smiled sleepily. She was getting pretty tired, it had been one roller coaster of a day. Starting with her being left alone, then with the emotions flaring with Toshioni, then them almost getting caught by her father, then the make out session, then the pain, and now this. What a long day indeed.
"Depends if I fall asleep or not..." Mizuki giggled. "If I'm still awake when he gets back, I can go out there and get my medicine, then you can stay a bit longer... If you'd like of course." Mizuki's offer was kind, and not the most thought out, but she did know her father.
Toshioni looked away from Mizuki for a moment. "Okay, I'll show you my home whenever you want to see it. I...I suppose I'll have to trust you with it sooner or later. "
Mizuki looked at Toshioni with skepticism in her eyes. Why was he saying these kind of things right now? Did he really not trust her that he would say that? Mizuki sat up a little, putting her elbow down to keep her up.
"Trust me with it? You sound unsure of it Toshioni... Do... do you really not trust me...?"
This made Mizuki upset. She must of been reading to deep into his words, or something, but either way, she was upset. She wanted to know why, why was he saying things like that?! Why was he being... such a guy?!
".... Ne... Nevermind..." Mizuki rolled over to her other side. She wasn't feeling the best, and dammit, her back was starting to hurt again.
"If I'm still awake when he gets back, I can go out there and get my medicine, then you can stay a bit longer... If you'd like of course."
Toshioni looked over at her with a grin as she told him he could stay for a while. That's good, if he left her he'd most certainly miss her without any way of contacting her. Wait...he had a phone. She probably had a phone. They could text... they were teenagers after all...it was kind of what they did. After all, this was the twenty-first century...they could at least perpetuate some stereotypes. He could text her when he couldn't see her.
"You know Mizu-chan...I'd love to stay as long as I could. But even when I go, you probably have a phone. I have a phone. You could call me and stuff. I'd really like to talk to you even when I'm not around."
"Trust me with it? You sound unsure of it Toshioni... Do... do you really not trust me...?"
Staring at her with eyes that widened from what he thought was terror. He had just made an whoops moment with his girlfriend and he needed to recover quickly and effectively. Knowing that, he gave a small smile to Mizuki as he quickly thought about what to say. He really did trust her...he was just embarrassed by his home. He had misspoken when he mentioned trust and he needed to express that to his girlfriend to prevent confusion and tension.
"It's not that I don't trust you Mizu-chan. I'm just really embarrassed. I trust you Mizuki...I really do."
"You know Mizu-chan...I'd love to stay as long as I could. But even when I go, you probably have a phone. I have a phone. You could call me and stuff. I'd really like to talk to you even when I'm not around."
"Mhmmm. Well... my number is..." Mizuki semi looked around as she was looking for a pen of some sort, so that she could give her number to her boyfriend.
Before Mizuki would roll over, Toshioni had a look of pure terror. It had seemed he made a slight mistake, with his words it would seem. Maybe he would learn from this to not misspeak again.
"It's not that I don't trust you Mizu-chan. I'm just really embarrassed. I trust you Mizuki...I really do."
He seemed sincere. Mizuki believed him, even if he did upset her. How could she continue to feel that way with him being all honest and shiz. He made her to happy for her to stay upset, and she understood, just look at her still trashed room!
"O...Ok Toshi-kun... I believe you."
Mizuki turned to face him and offered a smile. She still felt a little upset, and her back still hurt a small bit, but Toshioni was almost enough to sooth that pain. She would have to thank him, even if he didn't want to hear it mentioned multiple times.
"Thank you for being understanding Toshi-kun... And I don't think your home could be as bad as my room looks now..." Mizuki joked.
Toshioni waited patiently as she dug around for a pen and paper. He would add her number to his phone after he left her house. He smiled when he realized that he could punch her into his address book as "Girlfriend". That was a great feeling for him. He had come so far from the sniveling kid who had gotten beaten so easily by Xuan. He had grown up and adjusted a bit to his life; he had gotten stronger and gotten his shit together. Now it had paid off for him in a very positive way.
"I'll send you a text as soon as I get home, Mizu-chan."
Laying there, Toshioni smiled when she told him that she believed him. He made a mental note not to misspeak like that again because it would avoid things that caused tension between them. He didn't want to cause any form of tension between him and his new girlfriend. After all...that would ruin things between them and that wouldn't be good at all.
"I'm sorry I misspoke Mizuki. I'm glad you trust me."
"Thank you for being understanding Toshi-kun... And I don't think your home could be as bad as my room looks now..."
Toshioni looked around her room with a hearty laugh before looking back into her eyes and gently touching her cheek. He gave a small smile as he heard a car pull in. Then he looked at his girlfriend and made a decision. She needed sleep and rest and medication and he needed to give her that. That was part of protecting her which was what being a boyfriend was all about.
"Mizuki...you need your rest. I'm going to go now. I care about you Mizu-chan and want what's best for you." He gave her a small kiss before sliding off her bed and slipping on his shirt before walking across the room to her window. "Goodbye Mizu-chan. Sweet dreams." With a flash of Hirenkyaku he was gone.
"I'll send you a text as soon as I get home, Mizu-chan."
Mizuki smiled and nodded once again. She would have his number as he he would have hers. This would make communicating easy. This was something Mizuki looked forward to in this relationship, aside from being able to say that she had a boyfriend.
"I'm sorry I misspoke Mizuki. I'm glad you trust me."
Mizuki sleepily laid flat on her back. She was getting really sleepy from the long day. She would have to rest soon. Just as that thought crossed her mind, she heard a car pull into the driveway. Her father had returned, and Toshioni would have to leave. This kinda upset her, but she knew he would understand.
"Mizuki...you need your rest. I'm going to go now. I care about you Mizu-chan and want what's best for you. Goodbye Mizu-chan. Sweet dreams."
Mizuki frowned slightly. "To...shi-kun.... Please..." Before she could really continue, he had kissed her and left out the window. With that she heard the door open open.
She looked up and saw her father walk into the room. He sat on the edge of her bed with a bag. He set them on the night stand and brushed Mizuki's hair back. He gave her a kiss on the forehead. After this, he left the room, leaving Mizuki laying there, alone.
"Thank you..." That was the last thing she could say before drifting into her slumber.
