With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

It was kinda late in the evening when a glowing doorway appeared by the rivers edge. The senkaimon slowly opened, and from the light within stepped an irritated looking man with chestnut brown hair, dressed in the garb of a shinigami. Hisashi's eyes watched the Jigokucho flutter away before he folded his arms across his chest and looked towards the water. Hisashi dwelled on his recent conversation with Seiji. That boy was a pretender, everything was an act to him, even his attitude. Kimiko's nature was too generous to see him for what he was, a charlatan! At least Hisashi was true to his nature and had his issues to work through.
Seiji only acted like a simpleton to appeal to her charity, playing the fool to get into her good graces. Tonight, he acted drunk to get close to her, what a sham to use that whole 'liquid courage' bit. Then, what a perfect time to demonstrate some hidden strength, suddenly he's so confident in front of her, and well spoken when threatened. Finally, Seiji behaved like he was superior and unmoved by the things Hisashi said, even though he knew Hisashi was right.
Sadly, even if Hisashi went to Kimiko about Seiji, she wouldn't believe him. He could use the whole 'told you so' cliche when the whole thing blew up in Seiji's face, but that was childish. Still, Hisashi might take some joy in it. Hisashi didn't think anything could sate the anger he felt right now, save for maybe destroying some hollows. He almost wished a garganta would rip open the sky and a menos would emerge to confront him just so he could demolish it and show Seiji up. Suddenly he had a thought, maybe somehow he would run into that human Seiji spoke of. That could be interesting, actually hearing the story from someone with half a brain.
Hisashi unfolded his arms and turned towards the more occupied areas of the city, bracing and vanishing in a flash of shunpo. His senses questing as he traveled, for traces of reiatsu, and the presence of hollows or souls.

A garganta tore a whole in the middle of the sky and a figure walked out. This figure was tall and muscular, but not particularly frightening. A small cracking sound came from the figure's face as his mask shattered and the garganta closed. This figure was no other than Hueco Mundo's resident Vizard. Alexei Romanov rolled back his shoulders and yawned a bit. Celia-sama didn't mind if he went about on his own. It was kind of liberating, but a little lonely.
Either way, Alexei began the slow descent to the ground from where his garganta had let out. As he around the town, he slid his hands into his pockets and let his zanpakuto clang against his left leg as he walked. He held a small little smile as his vest shined in the moonlight. This vest fit him well. He liked the color scheme as well as the way it suited his. The collar hid his slight frowns and smiles unless he unzipped it.
"Oh, what a beautiful day this is."
Alexei didn't know that he wasn't masking his reiatsu at all. Anyone feeling for strong reiatsu would most definitely detect him. They may even mistake him for an Arrancar.

Hisashi bounded across rooftops then up to land on top of a small water tower that stood on the roof of an office building. From here he could get a good view of the area. His dark eyes narrowed as he folded his arms and glanced around the city. It was moments after the garganta appeared that Hisashi felt the pulse of reiatsu. Whoever had arrived hadn't bothered hiding their presence, but it was hard to tell what it was. A powerful hollow or something else maybe? Hisashi's lips curled into a smirk, whatever it was it picked the wrong time to show up.
He vanished in a flash of shunpo to find a better vantage point to see the thing that had emerged. Hisashi appeared again, crouched on a glowing light post. His smile faded as he realized that his target was not a hollow at all, but some guy in a white vest. Wait a second, it looked like he had a zanpakuto as well! Was this an arrancar? Hisashi hadn't really seen one, this could be interesting.
The figure walked leisurely enough, not really seeming to be out to devour souls or wreck havok like all the stories of arrancar claimed. Why was he here?

Alexei didn't notice that anyone was around of any similar reiatsu. At least, he didn't until he felt that someone was really close by. Being bad at things like detecting reiatsu, he couldn't really pinpoint if it was really in one direction. As such, he felt that it really wasn't his problem and he just needed to go about his normal business. Rolling back his shoulders, Alexei took a few deep breaths before crossing the street and going down some stairs onto what was a beach-like thing. Well, there was sand and it was on the banks of some kind of river.
Sitting down, he stared at the moon's reflection in the water. It was kind of beautiful how the moving water didn't miss with the image too much. The moon was round and perfect in the sky and its reflection was just as perfect. Alexei pulled his zanpakuto out of his little belt-loop thing and set it on the ground in front of him, sheathe and all. It was just a bit uncomfortable to sit with sometimes.
He gave his sword a small smile. Eekay Sobaka was happy to be back with him after their time apart while he was with Szayel. It was fun to talk to him sometimes. But, sometimes he just wanted to hang out around town and be alone. His zanpakuto respected that, or at least he pretended to.
Alexei really didn't know what anyone else thought.

Being curious, but cautious, Hisashi followed Alexei. A few minutes later found them near the river's edge where Alexei sat down, reflecting upon the reflections in the water. Hisashi found it hard to believe that this was an arrancar or hollow of any kind. There was no desire for destruction or hunger for souls and as far as he could tell Alexei just wanted to meditate. Hisashi was about to turn away in search of something that would sate the irritation he felt when Alexei pulled his zanpakuto out and set it on the ground before him. Hisashi reached up and stroked his goatee thoughtfully What was this man?.
Curiousity finally getting the better of him, he sighed softly and then walked over to Alexei's side. Hisashi pulled his own undrawn zanpakuto off his side but kept it held in his right hand as he knelt nearby. The tip of the sheath poked into the sand as he stared over at Alexei.
"Out for a stroll are we?" Hisashi glanced out to the water following Alexei's gaze then back. "What do you find so interesting?"

Another garganta, not too far away from the first, ripped open the sky as another figure stepped out. Veronica Dos-Santos stepped out slowly, with a tired yawn. There was only so much one could do in such a banal place such as Hueco Mundo. Only so many human screams could be heard, and only so many bodies to be tortured. And it wasn't that her cruel acts were getting less amusing, because they could never become that, but she just needed a day off.
She stretched her arms out behind her and leaned forward to crack her back. She then moved onto her neck, and then every bone she had that was able to be cracked. She looked up, and noticed that the sun was rather low. It was a nice color, with an almost melancholy tone. Without really"feeling" around, her attention was instantly diverted to the closest hollow reiatsu...except it was wrong. The pressure was tainted, like an Arrancar's, but different in the same regard.
She sighed, before noticing the presence of a shinigami. She innocently put her finger to her chin, as she considered her options. She made a pro and con list in her mind, before simply deciding to go to the prior spiritual pressure. She figured that if she had sensed it, then the shinigami would've felt it, too.
With a static boom she was gone, before appearing above the men. She hid her reiatsu, and crouched down to spy on them. She figured out that the man was most likely a Vizard, touching the water. Before long, the shinigami came over and made casual conversation with him.
She snorted, but not too loudly. She didn't want to reveal her presence at such an early juncture. Her grey eyes were piercing as she watched the men converse with one another.
"Out for a stroll are we? What do you find so interesting?"
Alexei turned his head to see a Shinigami kneeling beside him. This man looked different than most of the others he had seen in his days as a Shinigami. His sleeves didn't hang loosely, but were closed with red wristbands that went up pretty far on his forearm. Not only that, but he had a very tanned skin tone. He almost looked like Adela and Neva with his tan. This man had dark eyes and hair to match his dark skin. This man looked special; maybe he and Alexei could be friends.
"I was out for a little fresh air, Shinigami-san. It appears I wasn't the only one. And I think the moon looks really beautiful in the water. The reflection does it justice as it shines on."
With that, he returned his attention towards the water. A slight frown appeared on his face. He could see something else in the water's reflection. A kind of speck that just sort of existed there. He didn't know what it could be, but he saw it there. With a little more knowledge on how reflections worked, he would be able to trace the path to that object. However, Alexei didn't know much about things like that, so he was content to sit there with the Shinigami.
"So, Shinigami-san, what brings you out in the World of the Living so late?"

Alexei turned his head to regard Hisashi, he seemed very at peace, a stark contrast to the quiet rage that had been building in Hisashi since his conversation with Seiji.
"I was out for a little fresh air, Shinigami-san. It appears I wasn't the only one. And I think the moon looks really beautiful in the water. The reflection does it justice as it shines on."
Hisashi stared, almost taken aback at the man's serenity. His words were like a calming, poetic balm that Hisashi was loathe to listen to. How could someone possibly be angry with this guy around. Alexei turned his focus back onto the waters, statuesque and content to stare across the reflective surface.
"Tsk,..." Hisashi grumbled as he glanced away for a moment, part of him wanting to hold on to that anger. The things Alexei said were kinda like what Masanori might tell him, ya know, if the simpleton were more articulate. Don't get him wrong he liked Masanori, it's just that Masanori continued to see the world through rose-colored glasses and still had some growing up to do.
A deep sigh left Hisashi as he turned himself to look out across the water as well. Hisashi laid his zanpakuto across his lap as he faced the waters, folding his arms he reluctantly admitted defeat to the wise serenity of Alexei. "You have a way with words, stranger."
"So Shinigami-san, what brings you out in the World of the Living so late?"
That was a good question. What did Hisashi storm out of Soul Society for? Oh that's right, he wanted to beat something senseless. Wanted to feel the power, the superiority that came from conquest, victory over fallen foes. He'd been wanting to find hollows, or arrancar, even a menos to vanquish, just so he could lord it over Seiji's head. Seiji thought he was so great after chasing one off with some human and managed to get promoted. Then he bragged all over Soul Society and Kimiko was just eating it up. When would she realize that Seiji was nothing more then a lucky braggart and that He, himself always had her best interests in mind.
Quite a lengthy pause from the shinigami as he considered his answer with all these things racing through his mind. She wouldn't of course, and no amount of hollow slaying would make her see otherwise.
"I don't know..." Hisashi found himself admitting after the silence. He hated feeling so powerless. "...I need a drink." Hisashi's half-hearted attempt at lightening his own mood didn't help much.

At this, Alexei looked over to the Shinigami to see that he had laid his sword on the sand as Alexei had done. He smiled a bit at this and continued to stare out over the horizon and the ocean. He thought for a moment about his new life with Celia-sama, Neva-sama, and Adela-sama. He had to say, he kind of preferred it to the life he had once had in the Seireitei. And both were better than the time he'd spent alone in the Forest of Menos. Time had given him time for thinking and little else.
"I've had a lot of time to get good at thinking before I say anything Shinigami-san."
"I don't know...I need a drink."
Alexei let out a small chuckle before turning to look at his new Shinigami companion. Having grown up in a Russian household, Alexei was no stranger to alcohol and its effects on people. He knew that some people legitimately needed alcohol to get through a hard day should it arise. Perhaps this man had been having a hard day and needed a little cheering up? Talking about it might help.
"What happened recently Shinigami-san? From what I've seen, one only really needs alcohol after a long day that was hard for them in some way or another."

Alexei's quiet ways had a very calming effect on Hisashi. The strange man continued to stare over the water and the horizon beyond.
"I've had a lot of time to get good at thinking before I say anything Shinigami-san."
Hisashi chuckled. "I wish I could say the same. I'm better then some, but I fear that is a quality I've yet to master."
After the comment about needing a drink the stranger chuckled looking at Hisashi understandingly.
"What happened recently Shinigami-san? From what I've seen, one only really needs alcohol after a long day that was hard for them in some way or another."
Hisashi looked at the serene Alexei and raised an eyebrow. How to explain his feelings? Anger, jealousy, all around feelings of betrayal and not being appreciated. "I don't think you would understand. If you'll pardon my saying so, you act as if you are above emotional plights. I would hate to ruin your peace."
Part of Hisashi wanted to talk about his problems, but he didn't trust anyone easily. Opening up to this strange man like some complaining child, wasn't high on his list of to do's.
"You have done me a service though. It's likely I would have rashly found some enemies to combat this night, had I not run into you. What should I call you?"
