Shinigami Application
In Character
--------------------
General Information
--------------------
Name:
Rayleigh Gwilnenhin
Actual Age:
256
Appearing Age: 25
Gender:
Male
Appearance
Rayleigh is a tall, average built man with strong facial features and confident eyes. His hair is a deep auburn in color, and though he keeps good care of it, his hair is full and unruly which is why he gives it a light feathering. His strong facial features helps to give the impression of confidence with fiery hazel eyes and a strong jaw that has a well shaved goatee with a slightly redder hue then the hair on his head. Rayleigh has a pale complexion though ever so slightly tone so he isnt a pasty white. Beneath his left eye is a skin indentation that runs just under the pupil to an inch from the ear which is no more then a millimeter at its widest, it looks like a scar but is much less visible.
Standing at 6'5" Rayleigh's frame is an average athletic build more focused on tone then bulk. His arms are a bit wiry with wide knuckles and long fingers while his legs are more average for his size. Rayleigh has a very dominant body posture keeping his head held high and his shoulders square. As he walks he moves deliberately but at a relaxed pace, when he engages any individual whether in combat or in a social setting he makes direct eye contact and a dominant stance.
Rayleigh is not a fan of formal clothing of any kind and feel uncomfortable in anything with more then one layer. His shinigami kosode has the right sleeve removed to enable movement and freedom while his left sleeve remains intact though it's more in case he needs a emergency bandage than a preference. Besides the typical shinigami attire, Rayleigh prefers to wear a t-shirt and shorts, preferably ones of popular games from the human world though he rarely gets the chance. Of his mundane attire he tends to rotate towards earthy tones like browns and greens.
Rayleigh prefers to smile more than not and has a easy going feeling when he talks, though there is a subtle deliberateness. His eyes have a fiery yellow to them, but there are times or certain lights where its more of a grassy green. When Rayleigh gets serious or pissed off his entire presence becomes tense causing his hair to stand on end and his eyes to shine even more brightly. His body language becomes very aggressive when in combat, and his stony face makes him appear even more intense.
Personality
Rayleigh if anything is honest, he speaks his mind and values everything he is told sometimes bridging into gullible as he values the spoken word as an expression of a person's intent. Often easy going he is easy to be around and is hard to gain the ire of, he believe that everyone has a reason to do what they do and understanding that is more important then judging. Prone to taking a hold of the situation, Rayleigh is somewhat eager to lead or in the very least speaks his mind on the situation.
Potential is important to Rayleigh and he hates to see it wasted, if he comes across a situation where any person is being oppressed he tends to lose his cool. Rayleigh is not opposed to beating the sense into someone, but even more foolishly he will take a beating himself if it gets the point across. He has a strong sense of pride and conviction on his outlook and would rather die than give up on his ideals.
Inclined as a natural born leader and aware of his own nature Rayleigh tends to step on the toes of authority figures who haven't gained his respect. Easy to like and a rather trustful guy, Rayleigh's respect is surprisingly hard to gain, valuing guts over ideals and willpower over brute force, this can make him sound condescending when giving praise to those who haven't gained his respect. Even though he believes himself to be talented in the art of leadership he never gets angry at those who refuse to follow him, he hopes that their strong convictions will make them stronger allies when he finally converts them.
In a fight Rayleigh's presence becomes intense directing all his focus on his opponent, it can make him oblivious to everything else around him. Anger is not something Rayleigh believes should be on the battle field, so he tends to try to keep his emotions in check during a fight though since he holds to his ideals so passionately anything that betrays those can spark his fury. No matter who his opponent is he values their existence to the point where he refuses to go easy one them, he wouldn't want to give them anything less then the whole of his self and he expects them to do the same. Those who refuse or neglect to use their full potential should be weary because Rayleigh will stop at nothing until they give him 100% even if he has to bring it out little by little.
Rayleigh is a big fan of hearty meals full of lots of meat and carbs, he finds vegetables to lack punch and tends to only eat spicy herbs or peppers since they are the only foods "that fight back" in his own words. He hates tea with a fiery passion or anything with an overly bitter and earthy taste which also means that he detests certain medicines as well. Rayleigh subscribes to the fight side of the fight or flight response so there aren't many things that scare him personally, what he fears more than anything is losing those close to him which has lead to nightmares and sleepless nights. Rayleigh tends to enjoy the company of animals though he tends to get a bit rough with those who don't respect his alpha mentality so he never tends to get along with overly intelligent ones.
History
From the moment Rayleigh awoke within the Rukongai he was determined, to do what, he didn't know but he never really dwelled on how he got there. Getting up and walking around, Rayleigh spent much of his first day just observing and exploring the place he now found himself in. He walked so confidently through the streets no one would have guessed that he had just arrived and had no clue where he was going. After walking for a full day he finally found a small udon shop and sat down.
"Oi old man, give me something to eat. I don't care what I have to do as long as I get some food in me"
"Huh?" Grunted the middle aged man behind the counter "We don't serve free loaders here, go eat out of a dumpster or something."
Disappointed, Rayleigh dropped his head onto the counter before slowly getting up onto his feet. "Alright, I get it," he said as he slowly walked out and around the little shop. A few moments later loud clangs and rustling came from the dumpster behind the shop. The shop keepers agitation increased exponentially before he finally had had enough and slammed open the back door of his shop holding a soup ladle to beat the vermin with.
"Why you!!!" Was all the shop keeper could say before he realized what he was looking at. There sat Rayleigh very happily eating soggy old udon noodles that have been there probably since that morning. What wasn't strange was the fact that Rayleigh was eating that filth, the shop keeper had to often kick the street rats out, no what was strange was the incredibly grateful smile Rayleigh had on his face.
"Oi old man you make some damn good noodles." He continued to talk while he stuffed his face. "I mean I wash hungry for a few hoursh but nothing quite *Gulps* caught my attention like your cooking did." Even talking with a mouth full of food, Rayleigh was smiling all the while which left the udon chef speechless. After a few moments the shop keeper grabbed Rayleigh and pulled him out of the dumpster wrenching him around, all the while Rayleigh kept kicking and complaining. Rayleigh thought he was being kicked out, but to his surprise the shop keeper threw him into a seat and told him to wait. After about 5 minutes the middle aged man set a fresh bowl of udon with an extra serving of pork in front of Rayleigh.
Rayleigh began to drool uncontrollably, it smelled so good and the pork was basically whispering to him, telling him to do dirty things to it. Rayleigh was all set to dig straight in before he composed himself and pushed the bowl away with an exaggeratedly stubborn look on his face.
"You ungrateful bastard!!" The shop keeper said with a deep scowl.
"You said yourself that you don't serve free loaders, I wont let you go back on your word old man.
"Well I changed my mind so just eat the damned noodles!"
"I refuse!!"
The two argued for quite a while before the old man stopped and gave Rayleigh a coy smile. "Fine," he said as he took the bowl away and gently set it in the dumpster in the back. It took Rayleigh a moment before he finally realized what the old man was doing. He quickly ran around and pounced upon the udon with a ferocity not unlike that of a wild animal.
The old man just laughed and said "you are a hard man to deal with aren't you?" Rayleigh just looked up at the shopkeeper with a mouth full of noodles.
It was from this point on that Rayleigh would truly learn about where he was and how things worked in the Rukongai. The shop keeper gave Rayleigh a place to stay and used him to expand his business by either forcing him to advertise on the streets or deliver take out. In return Rayleigh got a place to sleep and food every night, he was also paid a small amount for his work. Rayleigh didn't like the idea of getting paid after everything the old man was doing for him but the shop keeper insisted. Rayleigh spent most of his free cash feeding the homeless kids candy. It didn't really occur to the shop keeper at the time, but it was strange that someone arrived at his shop who was actually hungry, it never came up again but it was soon apparent that this strange man who was now working at his shop had a lot more in store for him then simply being a udon delivery man.
Since time flows differently in Soul Society, its hard to say how long Rayleigh lived like that, running around town with boxes full of udon cartons. During this time Rayleigh made his fair share of friends and enemies as many do in Rukongai the only difference was the number of people Rayleigh could pull to his side, small acts of kindness or has ability to forgive his enemies earned Rayleigh a lot of respect in his district. Even people who disagreed with him found it hard not to respect him. It wasn't until the nobility got involved that Rayleigh realized that Soul Society even had a hierarchy.
It started with a particularly rude kid, who happened to be the son of a noble house, came into the district to take advantage of its people for his amusement. "Kid" only represented how the young noble acted, for he was well off in his one hundreds if not in his early two hundreds. Tall and gaunt he wore a nobles garb while riding around on a carriage carried by several servants with a look of superiority on his face with his nose held up high. The young noble had no reason to be there other then the fact that he was bored. He often came to small districts like this to find new servants to entertain him, mostly young women.
Rayleigh was on a delivery run when he noticed a young girl in her mid one hundreds being inquired upon by one of the young noble's servants. She looked hesitant and that's what gave Rayleigh the impression that she was in trouble. After some coaxing the young girl followed the servant out into the main street where the young noble was waiting. When Rayleigh saw how the noble looked at the girl he knew the young noble was up to no good. Just as the young girl was approaching the carriage, Rayleigh boldly walked up to the noble.
"I hope you aren't planning on using that young girl for anything unsavory," Rayleigh said as he walked up next to the girl with his arms crossed. He had left his delivery on the side of the street, hoping no one would take it.
"Do you know who you are talking to plebeian," the young noble said hold his nose up. "If a dog keeps barking it get taken to the pound."
"Woof," Rayleigh said defiantly as he held his ground and stared down the noble. Felling the pressure of Rayleigh's glare the young noble began berating him, threatening him with such things as imprisonment or death, but Rayleigh just grinned.
"Fine, torture me to death then." His grin was wicked and his eyes fiery, and this scared the young noble.
Calling his personal guard to his side, the young noble gave a final warning for Rayleigh to back off. Unsurprisingly Rayleigh held firm, this agitated the young noble who ordered his men to handle the situation. Pulling their weapons out the advanced upon Rayleigh who just raised his arms and looked the two men in the eye.
"Beat me cut me do what you like, I wont have your master using this poor girl against her will. If you are satisfied with serving someone like that then COME ON!!" His voice was full of passion and honesty. He was truly ready to be beaten to death for someone he probably didn't even know. This shook the two men who first looked at each other before looking back at their master.
The young noble, annoyed at being questioned, pointed and said "Well!" The two men turned and committed to perform their assigned duty. They swung their weapons and even as the blades cut into his skin Rayleigh's determination and lack of fear pierced the two men. If he hadn't have shaken the two men as much as he did Rayleigh would have died that day, the two men hacked and slashed at Rayleigh's body but neither were willing to strike a truly lethal blow. After several minutes Rayleigh finally collapsed, completely bloodied and leaking even more onto the ground.
The young man horrified and disgusted by Rayleigh's endurance, and the glare he held all the while, was so put off that he left without the young girl. As the carriage marched off the young girl dove to Rayleigh's side. The scene had gathered a crowd and it wasn't long before a doctor arrived, fortunately the people who were watching were so moved that they even pitched together to pay the doctor's fees. Rayleigh was out for a whole week before he finally woke up. In a immense amount of pain and discomfort all Rayleigh could do was laugh, he wasn't laughing because it was funny it was just his reaction to pain.
Rayleigh ended up staying in the clinic for a little over a month, when he was taken off his fluids he immediately began to complain about being hungry. At first the doctor didn't pay it any mind, but after a few days he realized that Rayleigh was legitimately suffering from undernourishment and this came as a great surprise to the doctor. It wasn't long before the doctor realized Rayleigh's potential, and the reason why he was even alive for no normal person would have been able to survive such an ordeal. The doctor immediately began to feed Rayleigh which had a boosted regenerative effect on the young man, for in a little under two months Rayleigh was back to full health.
The Doctor recommended that Rayleigh head towards the Seireitei and take the test to become a shingami. Rayleigh nodded but first there was something he had to go do and without wasting any time he left the clinic. After traveling for quite a ways he finally arrived at his destination, the estate of the young noble. Rayleigh walked up confidently to the front door, two guards quickly moved to intercept him before suddenly stopping in their tracks. Luckily it was the two guards from that day who slashed him up before. "Yo," Rayleigh said with a gesture as he walked by them and through the front door. They were so shocked to see him alive that all the could do was watch as he walked by.
Stepping in through the threshold of the house, several of the maids panicked and fled as Rayleigh marched through the halls. After a few attempts, Rayleigh finally found the room of the young noble who was in the middle of trying to seduce one of his maids. The half naked maid fled the room screaming as the young noble stared at Rayleigh with his mouth slightly agape.
"Wah, sorry I didn't mean to interrupt," Rayleigh said slightly embarrassed with a hand behind his head and a smile on his face. "I just came by to let you know that I survived, now you won't have my death to worry about," he said with a bit of an oafish grin.
The young noble was flabbergasted at first before he finally snapped back to reality. "Why the hell would I care about something like that!!"
Rayleigh blinked a few times and looked confused. "Well wouldn't killing someone cause you some grief?"
The two just stared at each other, neither of which capable of understanding the other. Just as the young noble was about to say something Rayleigh turned and waved over his shoulder. "Well anyway I am off to become a shinigami, try not to cause the people of Rukongai any more grief,"after that he left the estate with a smile on his face. He left to head towards Seireitei to become a shinigami for no greater reason than the fact that the doctor told him he should.
It wasn't hard for Rayleigh to be accepted into the academy, his body was particularly sturdy and he had a decent amount of reiatsu for someone who didn't even know what it was. Rayleigh's biggest problem was his bad habit of insubordination when it came to taking orders. Rayleigh respected his teachers and was eager to learn, but when a superior ordered him to do a certain task or a teacher criticized Rayleigh work, he would stubbornly refuse despite the beating he would get.
Rayleigh did truly like to learn it was just that he preferred to learn in his own way making his own mistakes and taking things at his own pace. If anyone disrupted his pattern he would instantly shut down and ignore any further advice or commands. This mindset lead to many hours of punishment whether it was through exhausting amounts of physical exercise or punitive beatings, though Rayleigh never complained and never argued against his punishments.
Many years went by and Rayleigh was not making much progress through the academy, one thing or another kept him held back from advancing which meant that many of his peers progressed without him. The idea of being left so far behind was frustrating for Rayleigh which only hindered his progress further. It wasn't until one of his Kidou practices that Rayleigh would get a hint on how to progress further. It was a day like any other, though one of the newer students was having some difficulty and the teachers were to busy aiding one of the more well off students. Rayleigh was really not good at Kidou but he felt he had to do something for the kid.
"Yo."Rayleigh said with a chill attitude as he approached the student. "You looked like you were struggling so I came to help you out." He stopped and got into the appropriate stance next to the student. "Don't expect much because I am not good at this kind of stuff either." He grinned foolishly as he began showing the student some of the basics.
Probably unsurprisingly to Rayleigh the student picked things up quickly and before long he was able to produce a Sho technique with little effort. It was at this point that it dawned on Rayleigh, he got along much better with the students rather then the teachers, maybe this could be used to his advantage. He quickly turned toward the student and nearly shouted in his face.
"I demand you show me everything you know about Kidou!"
At first the student was shocked and didn't know how to react as he was being man handled by his senior, but after seeing the honest interest in Rayleigh's eyes he bashfully opened up and began teaching the man who was just teaching him how to use Kidou. It did not make much sense to the student since most of what he had to say was either general information they learned in class or the same information Rayleigh had just told him not too long ago. What made even less sense to the student was the fact that Rayleigh was actually improving because of all this.
It made perfect sense to Rayleigh, before as he was just about to get the hang of something one of the teachers would correct him or say something that would cause him to shut down, but if he demanded the information from someone who wasn't an authority figure Rayleigh could make his breakthroughs with no stress. It was from this point that Rayleigh began snatching his peers up either before or between classes and forced them to teach him the basics.
Rayleigh's course of action did not go without negative effects though, many of the more promising students began to see Rayleigh as more of an idiot rather then a delinquent which was the common consensus before and the newer students saw him as more of a bully who forced them to do his homework. Only the students who actually worked with Rayleigh saw how honest he was and how much work and effort he put into learning. Rayleigh didn't care how others thought of him and this new method was working out great as he spent less time in punishment and more time studying, but something started to nag at him in the back of his mind.
Time passed and Rayleigh was finally advancing at a more normal rate, well a slightly higher then normal rate but that was only due to the fact that he was held back so much before. That same nagging feeling bothered him continuously though, like there was something important that he was forgetting. The stress caused him to lash out a bit when someone rubbed him the wrong way which hurt is public image even more so. It wasn't Until he finally had a dream that things began to come to light.
He sat up in a cold sweat and held his head, a blinding light was striking him in the face. "Did I sleep in?!?" He thought as he begun to panic. The light hitting him in the face felt like it was about mid day which only made him feel more stressed. He attempted to get out of bed before he noticed the ground had a strange texture, it was some and almost rubbery like cellophane plastic but much sturdier and exceedingly warm. A temperature that was almost uncomfortable he quickly stood up, squinting his eyes so he could see through the blinding light.
After several painful minutes minutes his eyes began to adjust but what he saw before him only furthered his panic and confusion. There before him, filling up the entire sky was a massive sun that bared heat down upon him and made him shrink back in confusion.
"Why are you afraid? The voice filled the area with its ominous and otherworldly tone.Rayleigh, whom was already panicked about possibly being late for class and waking up in such a otherworldly place, began to look around for the origins of the voice.
"Who are you?!" Rayleigh's mind was racing as he looked around wildly. Was it an enemy? How did I get here? Will I make it to class on time? Such thoughts filled Rayleigh's mind as he readied himself to fight his way out of this mess.
"You are not ready to hear my name, all that I can tell you is that I am here to make you the king you were destined to be."
"King? What do you mean, tell me who you are!" Rayleigh's shouted in vain as he no longer heard a reply for the voice. Just as soon as Rayleigh began to contemplate it escaped the 'ground' beneath his feet began to shift. The liquid warped and sucked him beneath the surface so suddenly that he had no chance to struggle. The viscous material surrounded him, burning and crushing him with such intensity that the shock nearly killed him. Rayleigh suddenly sat up and yelled at the top of his lungs, his eyes nearly bulging our of his head and his whole body tingled from the force of the shout.
Rayleigh's door was forcefully opened as several students and official shinigami burst through, looking around wildly for the source of the scream. Rayleigh was there on his sleeping mat breathing heavily and sweating profusely. Rayleigh's eyes were bugged out and slightly bloodshot and all his muscles were at their maximum tension. Several attempts were made to talk to Rayleigh but all were in vain as he seemed unable to hear or respond to those around him. Rayleigh was quickly taken to the medical ward where he would stay for a few weeks.
After many hours of counseling and medical treatments to reduce stress, Rayleigh was aloud to go back to the academy. At the time he felt sick and disconnected from the world, his body burned with a furious aura but his eyes were dull and lifeless. It was his own determination that forced his body to attend classes, but he no longer asked other students for help and was even more ostracized then he already was. There was even talk that he may no longer be capable of being a shinigami, but none of the staff approached him on the matter.
Rayleigh wasn't afraid nor was he stressed in fact there wasn't really anything going on in Rayleigh's mind, the shock of his experienced put a huge psychological trauma on his mind and thus it wasn't able to function properly. This is exactly as the spirit intended for it would take an incredible willpower to overcome such trauma, death would only mean one was unworthy but a king could never be as such. It wasn't long before Rayleigh proved to be everything Hakobi expected.
It was late one night as Rayleigh was sitting upright on his sleeping mat, every night was like that as he eerily sat like that for hours on end with lifeless eyes and without a single thought on his mind. Usually Rayleigh would eventually just fall asleep, but that night was different. Something crawled into Rayleigh's consciousness, something that had painfully crawled its way from the depths of his soul clawing and scratching its way out of the dark.
A slight pulse of reiatsu resonated from Rayleigh as his heart began to pound and his blood began to boil. It was from the depths of his own soul that Rayleigh's fighting spirit was trapped, the part of him that overcame diversity and defined his personality. Heat began to emanate from his body as his aura spiked in tension. His spirit was calling out to him, trying to regain control refusing to let things continue like this. Thoughts began entering his mind as slowly his eyes began to show life, thoughts of everything he has done to get this far, but more importantly thoughts of how much more he intended to do how desperately he wanted to unite and bring people around him. The desire to become much larger then himself, a powerful conviction that would not only just elevate him to the next level but to those around him.
Rayleigh wanted to bring himself to his maximum potential an smash through his limits. Many times he would see people around with with talent and potential that far exceeded his own and yet they would give up when they came to an obstacle. He yearned to bring them past that point and to watch them become something so much greater, even if he had to do it by force he was willing to bring out their potential. He would be their leader bringing them up with him, even if he had to become something greater then himself he would surround himself with people who lived up to their potential. This desire, to create a community of strong individuals who were varied and individual and yet loyal, was what made him qualified as a king. Only the mighty who was both cruel and kind strong and gentle could create such a force.
With the energy growing within him Rayleigh's spirit was free from its binds, and as it rushed through him his veins burned with passion and eyes burned with fury. Quickly rising to his feet Rayleigh gave a powerful shout, this one much different then the one before filled with a warriors spirit it was more of a battle cry then a cry of terror. Several students quickly came to Rayleigh's room thinking that he had yet another episode but they stopped at his door. The soul pressure the emanated from behind was from behind was strong and his golden aura leaked from all the cracks. It wasn't until one of the guards arrived that the door was opened, and what everyone saw left them in awe as Rayleigh stood there glowing with his reiatsu and a burning passion in his eyes that moved ones soul.
Rayleigh's soul pressure was nothing that exceeded a normal shinigami's, it was instead the fiery passion and warmth that came with it that made it so awe inspiring. Once Rayleigh began to regain his sense his aura slowly cooled off and the air became calm again. It was at that time that Rayleigh noticed the gawking spectators who were crowed around his door. Embarrassed at the scene he caused he bashfully put his hand behind his head and laughed awkwardly.
Hahaha sorry about that I was just having a very interesting dream, he said with a goofy smile. After getting scolded by the guard everyone returned back to their rooms, but everything did not go back to normal after this point, after that night Rayleigh finally began to truly blossom. In a way Rayleigh returned to the way he was before coming to the academy full of life and strong demeanor that gained the respect of his peers, but now he was even stronger then he was before. Though his confidence did not really change the way he dealt with people did. Rayleigh began to participate more in class while also taking more time between classes to learn and get to know his peers. His presence was much stronger now and he quickly began making friends who listened to the things he said.
Rayleigh would soon accelerate through his classes and graduate as a full fledged shingami with the respect of his peers and confidence of his teachers. Rayleigh would soon come to understand that the event that catapulted him to his potential, the dream he had that night, was the work of the spirit of his Zanpakuto calling out to him. As soon as he became an official shinigami and received his zanpakuto it changed with the Kanji for 'King' forming on his sheathe and the kanji 'Conviction' etched along the blade. The dream was a test from his zanpakuto's spirit, whom he learned the name of, a trial that would test his spirit and willpower. Ouho Hakobishu was the spirits name, a being that appeared as an otherworldly version of Rayleigh with silver hair and red eyes. Hakobi kneeled before Rayleigh at their meeting and addressed him as the king, and at first Rayleigh rejected the idea of such formality but the power and force that emanated from his spirit made Rayleigh realize that he was far outmatched and thus submitted to the spirit's whim.
Rayleigh did not know what to expect form becoming a shinigami, in fact it was something he never really put much thought into when he was at the academy. He was the kind of person who took things one day at a time which would soon become the burden of whichever team he was to be put into. Rayleigh had no idea what squad he wanted to be in, but he did know one thing for sure he would find many strong people to be friends with and he would make it his duty to bring them all within his influence to help them reach their highest limits. Failure was not an option, he will become the king he was destined to be and he knew it was a destiny that will require a lot of hardship and risk on his part. It wasn't going to be easy, but for Rayleigh taking things on step at a time and always moving forward would be his creed.

Zanpakutō
--------------------
Name: Ouho Hakobi-shu
Translation - Bringer of the King
Unreleased Appearance
Rayleigh's zanpakuto is a standard gendaito katana with "King" written in gold kanji up the outward facing side of the sheathe. The wrappings on his handle are black but the handle beneath seems to be made of gold or is gold plated. Rayleigh's zanpakuto's crossguard is an abnormally bright gold with a square cut. He wears it on his left hip and has the habit of resting his left hand on the hilt even as he walks around the Seireitei. The blade has conviction etched in kanji along the blade though the cut is shallow enough to prevent too much blood from pooling up in it. As per the style, the blade is 25.6 inches in length and thickness of 8.3 millimeters with a handle around 12.4 inches. Rayleigh predominately fights in the standard akido sword style when the sword is in its unreleased state.

Zanpakutō Spirit
--------------------
Name: Ouho Hakobi-shu
Gender: Male
Spirit Appearance
A near identical image to Rayleigh except his hair is silver and his eyes are red, Hakobi as Rayleigh calls him, constantly is surrounded in a golden aura. The energy causes Hakobi's hair to float as if suspended in liquid as well as the rest of his body. Hakobi very little clothing, just a folded cloth that his tied around his waist and drapes down to his knees. Hakobi's complexion is much more fine then Rayleigh's with a tone closer to alabaster which makes it difficult to so how cut and toned his body really is.
Personality
Hakobi's personality is much cooler and more refined then Rayleigh's though at times he can be more mysterious and vague unlike his master. Hakobi acts in many ways like a counselor to Rayleigh, giving words of advice while showing his utmost respect to his master. Hakobi can act a bit fanatical at times, claiming his master to be the supreme being and not capable of failure, but at times it can make Hakobi demanding like a doting parent.
Relationship to Master
Hakobi is very loyal and respectful of his master, speaking with high honorifics and gestures of fealty. Hakobi believes Rayleigh has the potential to master any skill and overcome any obstacle and thus talks his master up as often as possible. The one thing Hakobi doesn't respect is his masters independence as Rayleigh can rarely do anything without Hakobi either counseling him or trying to motivate him.
Inner World
Hakobi's inner world is an entire plane of shimmering water illuminated by a golden sun the covers that majority of the sky. Upon entering into the realm Rayleigh walks upon the waters surface as if it were ground with slight ripples emanating from each of their steps. Though uncommon, becoming submerged beneath the surface gives an overwhelming sensation of heat and pressure like being at the core of a planet.

Zanpakutō Shikai
--------------------
Call Out Phrase: We Rise, Ouho Hakobi-shu
Shikai Appearance
Once called Hakobi becomes a pair of tight fitting golden plate mail gauntlets with deep red kanji written across them. Each line of kanji describes the quality a king should have and glow bright when Rayleigh uses his abilities. The palms of the Gauntlets have the Kanji "weapon" written on them and the reitsu that comes from the gauntlets are red. The gauntlets are segmented in plates and allow for high dexterous movements and the palms are covered leather and a very fine steel mesh.
Shikai Abilities
Armament
- Description of Attack - To protect his king, Ouho Hakobi-shu has taken a form that would always give the king a way to defend himself. A king must never go without a weapon and so Ouho Hakobi-shu has etched the sigils for "weapon" into its palms that can conjure blades of reiatsu. Only one weapon may be conjured at a time and they often take the form of a katana but may be smaller if Rayleigh wishes. The blades may be held like a standard weapon or may extend directly from the palm, using both hands together, Rayleigh can maintain the blade. All blades conjured do the same damage as a normal zanpakuto. The weapons property can change between cutting, impact and piercing allowing Rayleigh to adapt to his opponents defenses.
- Type - Weapon
- Range - Melee
- Limitation - Armament is somewhat connected to Rayleigh's and thus when his reitsu begins to run low the conjured blades will become smaller or may even fail to conjure if his reiatsu is less then 3%. The blades may never leave his grasp and thus cannot be thrown. Since Armament is based on reaitsu, those of a significantly higher tier of power may penetrate the reiatsu causing the weapons to break. Unless Rayleigh uses both hands the conjured weapon will immediately disappear. Unlike fighting with a normal weapon, Armament requires a small amount of reiatsu to conjure. If the maintained weapon is broken it will need to be recreated thus having to constantly recreate weapons would quickly diminish Rayleigh's reitsu. Initially creating weapons and recreating broken weapons expends about 7% reitsu.
Dominion
- Description of Attack - Dominion is the manifestation of Rayleigh's determination to keep moving forward despite being in the face of adversity. By taking a brief moment to "claim" a small area, Ouho Hakobi-shu creates a ring of golden aura that fills the area with a benevolent energy. This energy fortifies Rayleigh's defenses temporarily causing Rayleigh to take reduced damage. While within the ring Rayleigh takes 10% less damage from those of an equal tier, 20% from a lower tier and 5% or less from a higher tier.
- Type - Support
- Range - 2m Radius, Static
- Limitation - Dominion is limited by time and its static area as it only lasts 5 seconds and cannot be moved until the previous ring has expired. Dominion expends 20% of Rayleigh's reiatsu to activate each time. Those of a higher tier can ignore most or all of the damage reduction as their reiatsu blows away the golden ring.

Rayleigh entered the training grounds with no real reason other then boredom and the possibility to find someone full of potential there. He yawned waving his hand over his mouth and blinked dully, he was taking a nap earlier but then he got yelled at for napping in the meditation hall. Rayleigh was never really good at meditation, he already knew himself better then anyone so spending time on self discovery was pointless.
"It's not my fault those mediation pillows were so soft, anyone would fall asleep doing something boring like that," he muttered to himself between yawns.
Looking across the yard he saw various shinigami training in all matters of things including; kidou, weapon techniques, and endurance runs. Rayleigh grimaced at the kidou practice, his current skill was not much better then that of an academy students and it was easy for him to forget the chants. If he walked over there someone would ask him if he knew something or other and then his following blank stare would make them all think he was an idiot. He nonchalantly spun on his heel and began heading towards the running track.
Endurance was one of the traits Rayleigh most admired since it was not just about physical strength but mental strength. Scanning the track Rayleigh honed in on a younger shinigami who looked about ready to keel over. He examined the young girl closely, judging from the breathing and sweat she must have at least have been running for a few minutes, but something seemed off. She looked incredibly healthy and full of energy, not quite at the point of deaths door and yet she looked ready to give up.
Rayleigh got a wicked look on his face as he moved towards the young shinigami. "Hey you," Rayleigh said with a tone of unwarranted authority as he approached the young girl. Confused she stopped running and looked at him while panting heavily. "Hey!" He said sharply. "Who said you could stop running?"
"What?" she said with a look of utter confusion as she began to look around to see if he was talking to anyone else.
Rayleigh had a cold look in his eyes as he walked up to her, his body language oozing with malice and malcontent. Rayleigh walked straight up to the poor girl until he was looming directly over her with a dark gleam in his eyes. "Run," he said quietly at first though the words still sent a chill down her spine.
"What?!" She said look slightly afraid and unable to processing what was happening.
"I said RUN!!" Rayleigh shouted in the girls face causing her to jump. His face darkened and his bloodlust began to seep around him. "Or I will kill you," his tone was quite again but filled with malice. Rayleigh spiked his reitsu and this cause the girl to stumble and panic as she quickly turned and began to run. Rayleigh got another wicked smile with a look of amusement on his face. "She can easily run another six miles," he said amused as a he got into a readied stance.
With a sudden tension of his muscles Rayleigh broke out into a full sprint after the girl, with his sights dead on her he gained quite quickly. The girl who was still very confused and scared turned back to see what had happened to the strange man who approached her. There was a moment in time where everything seemed to stop for her as she saw Rayleigh approaching her in a mad dash. Her brain couldn't even comprehend the situation at first, but it wasn't long before her face became as pale as a ghosts. As time began to move again she turned slowly and then she inhaled a huge gulp of air.
The girl screamed as she picked up the pace and began running for her life. Rayleigh, amused at all this, began threatening her as he followed. If she could scream like that then she surely could run another 10 miles. The scene that ensued was rather comedic as Rayleigh chased the poor girl all over the track as she screamed at the top of her lungs. No one came to help the girl because it was obvious by Rayleigh's expression that he meant no harm. In fact Rayleigh looked like he was having a lot of fun as he had a hard time not laughing between his no silly threats, some of which included sticking the girls head in lime jello or stuffing her pillow full of cheese.
