Ureshi's expression changed from her usual carefree smile to a straight and serious face. She took a step in front of Bethany, holding out her own hands, which were now producing rose petals that started to gather and glow white at her hands. "That's revenge, and it's a useless thing..." A large, basketball sized beam was fired from her hands, blasting into where she sensed the hollow. Some water spread upwards and she watched to see if anything else would happen. It looked as if the hollow had at least retreated, if not it was hit. That's what Ureshi thought anyways.
She turned back to Bethany, opening her mouth to speak, quoting a play she had seen on a vacation. "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'. 'Great. That way the whole world can be blind and toothless."
Her expression was a slightly saddened one. She and Bethany might not see eye to eye on this kind of subject. She was starting to pick up what was going on in this world that had stayed mostly hidden from her. A shinigami... That translated into death god or something. They must've been the ones with the swords, and a quincy was clearly an archer. She shrugged at Bethany.
I just don't want to know that people are actually dying because of revenge...

"It is not revenge." she said calmly firing a stream of three arrows to make sure the hollow was destroyed completely. "Revenge is where they have directly affected you and you strike back at them." She replied. "We merely punish them for their sins." She stated calmly. "That is not vengeance it is judgement." She turned to face Ureshi dispelling her bow and slipping her quincy cross benath her blue wrist band.
"Why should Hollow's be forgiven for killing humans and devouring their souls?" she said quietly. "The only vengeance we hold is a hatred for shinigami because they wiped out most of my people."

Ureshi shrugged. "Completely anihliating something for past actions isn't much better. Even if they didn't directly attack you, that's avengement, which is directly related to revenge. And what you're saying about your people... Quicies right? Well... Not every shinigami killed a quincy I'm sure. And that's the same as what you're talking about with hollows. If you punish someone with utter anihliation, then how are they supposed to repent? Or feel sorry? Those hollows... If they're purified -or whatever it is you called it, then that means that they were human right?"
She smiled a weak smile. "So if they come back as humans, or at least think like humans again, then doesn't that mean that they'd be sorry? Maybe even if just a little?"
She looked back over the water which was beginning to calm down. I'm not going to get her to see eye-to-eye with me... She doesn't consider it wrong now... And she might be too stubborn to change.

"Once purified they have no knowledge of what they did as a hollow." she replied looking at her. "The current shinigami may not have killed my people, but the shinigami have never even so much as apologised even after we suggested that we would merely hold off the hollow's till they got there." she sat down on the floor and began to meditate. "Many of the remaining quincy were wiped out whilst trying to hold off the most powerful hollow because that was all the shinigami would deal with." She sighed deeply. "Only a few of us remain."

"But what's the point in just hating an entire group just because of someone else's past mistakes?" She stopped, spinning back around and falling back into the sand, staring upwards.
"Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't seem like a good way to think of others." She started to count the few clouds that were passing by as she laid on the ground, both of her hands shifting sand around with her hands.

"I heard the blue sun corporation have tried speaking to the shinigami to try and establish peace." she replied quietly. "But so far nothing has come of it. The shinigami refuse to communicate with us and so we try to research new methods of battlling hollows." She sighed deeply. "When we destroy large numbers of hollows we upset the balance between the spirit world and this, but we have no other way to defeat hollows other then destroying them. The shinigami have their zanpakutoh which send the spirits of hollows for purification, but we just have our bows and a few other devices." She looked up at Ureshi. "All of which destroy hollows not purify. Even if we wanted to purify hollows, which some do, we cannot because we have no way to and we cannot stop fighting hollows. It was what we were trained for." She chuckled at thoughts of the hatred for shinigami. "Some of the shinigami alive are some of those who attacked my people and wiped out all but a small amount. Those I hate. The others I merely dislike because they condemn us for our methods yet don't help us to develop new ones." She turned to Ureshi. "What makes them so high and mighty that they are the only ones who should be able to fight hollows? If we have the power to defeat the hollows and save others..surely we should use it? Yet the shinigami disagree. They think only they have the right to defend the world...people they have never met...whilst we must watch our friends and families die around us because the shinigami will only deal with the strongest hollows." There was a fire behind her eyes that was quite startling. "If they helped us develop new methods in order to purify hollows rather then destroy them then we would use them. Well some of us would and the others would be convinced."

Ureshi quickly stood up and took a step to her right. She looked at the ground, clenching a fist. There was a moment of silence, a very tense and somewhat awkward silence. The carefree and relaxed smile wasn't visible on Ureshi's face. In its place was a solemn and serious expression. After all, what did she know? She had only just learned about all of this. She was never involved with any of this, she had no means of having sympathy towards Bethany. What was she supposed to say? "I'm sorry?"
It took her almost a full minute before she finally spoke to Bethany again. There was a slight hint of sorrow in her usual bright and sunny attitude and in her voice. "I'm sorry. I won't be able to know how you feel, even if I try. But I still don't agree with your thoughts on revenge. Revenge and avengment are the same thing in my book... Or, at least they end in the same thing."
I don't know... I really don't know what I can say about this. It's not like two people who just met are going to see eye to eye with eachother instantly but this... I don't even know what I can really say about it.

"Don't apologise." she said quietly. "You have nothing to apologise for." She thought about the situation. "Although I said hollow's deserve destruction...that isn't really my feelings...that is just what I have been taught." She sighed deeply. There was not much she could say. "I have tried multiple times to try and alter my arrows so as not to destroy the hollow, but thus far I have failed." She thought about this. "Why do our arrows completely destroy hollows? Thats what I need to know. What makes them so different from the zanpakutoh. If i can learn that...then I might be able to find a way."

Nodding, Ureshi still remained standing. Nothing Bethany said made much sense to her. First she said the hollows deserve destruction, and then she said she wants to find out how to kill hollows without destroying them. This was odd to Ureshi. There was the contempt in her voice at first that had backed up her words and making Ureshi feel an awkward moment of not understanding where... HOW this could be felt. Maybe Ureshi was just too trusting, or maybe she was just another dreamer who wanted a perfect world which would never happen. All that ureshi could think to say...
"I'm only apologizing because I'm trying to understand you when I barely understand what I've just learned about the shinigami and about the quincy. I shouldn't be trying to see how you feel if I barely know you and I barely get this." Her usual smile started to slowly reappear and she turned to Bethany again. "That's all."

"I should be the one apologising for getting so angry." she said staring up at the sky. "I let the lessons I have learnt overtake my actual feelings." There wasn't much more to say. "If you have any questions about anything...feel free to ask." A smile had returned to her face. It felt good to tell the truth rather then acting as she had been taught. "With regards to the shinigami I know little, but I can answer questions about the hollow and quincy."
