Name: Raion Sakana (Lion Fish)
Age: 200 (Looks 22)
Gender: Male
Personality:
The shield needs time to "mature", however, as it does not just become a shield the second it leaves his blade. As it gains distance from Raion, it has time to fully "grow" into its "full size and strength."
The shield is also not self-sustaining. Raion cannot simply fire off a shield to stop an attack and then flash step behind someone and slash them. Like with a normal shield, you can't just set it down and expect it to hold up to someone hitting it while you walk around. He must keep his "battle stance" he was in when he fired it off, meaning his sword must stay extended towards the center of the shield, and the point he is shielding against. The shield also cannot be moved, so if Raion fires one off and completely misses the attack to shield against, he's screwed.[/blockquote]Bankai Description:

History/Background:
Age: 200 (Looks 22)
Gender: Male
Personality:
Raion seems like he's always loathing, or at least deep in thought, and has been so all his life. Happiness is an emotion he has yet to truly enjoy, or even experience, and he is mainly dominated by sadness and emotionlessness.Appearance:
In fact, he rarely shows any emotion at all, his face and voice being conqured by his loathing and emotionless state.
To his underlings, he expresses a little more emotion, although they hate seeing it on him. Usually, they still get the loathesome side, but when they fail him, he shows a sort of bored anger, which he uses to quickly dispatch them.
Other emotions he's been known to show are surprise and sometimes an insane happiness. The rare occasions he shows surprise are only in battles, when the opponent pulls out some unsuspected attack. The insane happiness is simply a laugh he sometimes gives, which makes it seem like he's lost his mind, which he only gives after winning a semi-challenging fight.
Hollow Mask:
Raion is about 6 feet tall, has red eyes, and hair is red, which is close to being a bush on his head. It is unruly, but in a controlled chaos kind of way, and most ladies love it. It extends just past his ears and down his neck, but is raised in the air much more than that, the highest peak easily 5 inches above his scalp.
On his right cheek there is the kanji for fish, (sakana), the symbol for his clan. There is a healed scar over the tattoo, symbolizing his disowning and capturing of his clan (explained in history).
Raion usually wears something that looks like its out of a king's wardrobe, being regal in appearance and essence. They are not orthodox clothes, or those you'd see everyday, but are odd or even weird clothes that would leave you looking, but not in a bad way.
Hollow Powers:
Raion's hollow mask is much like every other mask, other than its unique appearance that will vary from person-to-person anyway, and the special power it gives to him.
It resembles a human's skull, with more "animated" features such as the sharpened cheek bones, jaw, and "ears".
CeroInner Hollow:
Shield Strengthening- When Raion dons his hollow mask, the shield he generates from his shikai and bankai is strengthened, becoming much harder to break, as a hollow mask does for any attack. It will also reduce the time needed for the shields he throws up to "mature" into a fully shielding state.
Zampakuto's name:
Raion's inner hollow is devilish in appearance and personality. It is an oni with long, white hair, knight's armor, and red, piercing eyes. It is about 7 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. It loves nothing but bloodlust, and wishes to do nothing but kill. It becomes rather bored in Raion's Inner World, as he does nothing but loathe.
It is because of such that Raion often spars with his inner hollow when he is bored, to keep his skills in shape. As he is in control of his inner world and has dominance over his inner demon, the hollow has little choice but to comply.
He has a loathing respect for Raion's power, but resents being repressed by it and jumps at chances to defeated his surpressor (i.e. their spars), but is never able to defeat his "master". These defeats drive him deeper into his hatred for Raion, which grows with every match.
Gouon Umino (Roar of Seas)Zampakuto Spirit:
Gouon Umino is a blue lion with a mane of blue fire.Un-released Zampakuto's Appearance:
Gouon Umino seems more like an intellectual zanpakuto than an assault one, seen in its abilities. It prefers to think and observe rather than to fight, and sometimes offers advice to Raion.
Its personality is also seen in Raion's inner world, as it is a giant chessboard, complete with the pieces. Raion and his world's inhabitants seem to be able to control to pieces telepathically, playing monstrous games of chess, and the pieces themselves come to life when moved, brutally slaying any other pieces in their way.
It resembles more of a medieval claymore than a katana. The handle can easily be held with two hands and still have a lot of slack, and had a red diamond on the end. The "tsuba" is thin, almost line-like, and is easily the length of two fists on each side of the hilt.Shikai Release phrase::
"Blaze Blue, Gouon Umino!"Shikai Appearance::
Shikai Abilities::
^(Except Blue)^
Gouon Umino is a blue, roman gladiator sword. Its blade is blue, and its hilt is a darker blue. It is about 2 feet in length, 18 inches of that is the blade. The blue blade is due to there being blue fire sealed onto the blade.
Gouon Umino is a defensive-type zanpakuto, possessing little attack power.[/u] By pointing Gouon Umino's blade toward whatever Raion wants to be shielded against, the blue fire sealed onto the blade will errupt into a shield of fire, about 6 feet in diameter. Its capable of shielding against most attacks, especially fire-based ones, but is weak against water-based attacks, for obvious reasons. The fire from the blade is treated just like normal fire, as it will burn to the touch and be put out by water (although its hotter than normal fire, being blue, and may evaporate it). It is able to easily withstand attacks from lower-tier fighters, hold its own against same-tier attacks (albeit this is where the type advantages has the biggest effect), but will ultimately fail against an attack from a stronger tier, although it may be able to shield against attacks from an unreleased zanpakuto of a tier higher.
Buru Shirudo (Blue Shield)-
The shield needs time to "mature", however, as it does not just become a shield the second it leaves his blade.
Bankai Abilities:
^(Except Blue)^
The sword is just like his shikai sword, being entirely blue, but when bankai is initiated it is placed in the sheath in the shield (which is also blue). He then draws it to activated the bankai.
The sword is no different from its shikai counterpart, but the shield is a new addition. It is about the size of Raion's forearm, being rather small and almost redundant to be used as a shield.
Shield- The shield has an ability almost identical to the shikai's. By pointing the face towards what he wants to block, it will fire off a shield of blue fire, about 12 feet in diameter, twice the size of his shikai shield. It is able to completely block any attack from a lower-tier, hold its own against attack from the same-tier as his, and, when combined with his hollow mask, can possibly withstand an attack from a tier above him.Skill Level: Kidou: Intermediate
However, the bankai shield has the same drawbacks as the shikai shield, and as it is twice as big, will do twice the damage if it is imploded before it can "fully mature." But as it is a true shield making the shield in his bankai, its slightly more natural and comfortable for him to sustain the stance for it, rather than holding a sword out.
Sword- By itself, the sword has no abilities whatsoever. However, by banging it against the shield, the sword will draw power, indicated by the sword glowing with something akin to a "charged" aura. By striking something with the charged sword, it will cause an explosion. While Raion is caught in the blast, it won't harm him as much as his opponent as it is his reishi exploding. However, he will still be hurt. This can severely harm any lower-tiered warrior, while only harming Raion slightly. If against a warrior of the same-tier, the blast will do equal damage to the both of them. If against a warrior of a higher tier, it will do more damage to him than to the warrior, the more difference in tier the more difference there is in the damage caused.

History/Background:
Raion was the oldest and first born child of the head family of the great Sakana Clan, a powerful and feared clan of vizards.RP Sample:
Being the oldest child, the eldest of four others, he was charged with taking care of them while their father attended to clan affairs and their mother relaxed in luxury.
Since he had to practically raise his siblings on his own, except for those weeks their parents actually decided to pay attention to them, which his siblings seemed to relish far more than their time with him, he developed an intense loathing hatred for those who gave birth to him, hating them for all but abandoning their children, those who were suppose to rule in their place one day.
He kept these feelings bottled up, however, out of love for his siblings; he didn't want them to suffer the loss of their brother or their parents. As such, he surpressed them, even when his angered spiked due to some comment his siblings or his parents made. This is likely the reason for his loathesome personality, having kept silent and emotionless for so long, out of fear of "going off" on his parents.
He underwent his vizard training, just like any member of the clan would, and succeeded in defeating his inner hollow, although it took a good many tries, much to the chargrin of his father.
He recieved a scolding for this, as it took him more than 10 tries to subdue his demon, which was high, even for the lowest members of the clan, despite the fact that Raion underwent the training 3 years early, at the earth-equivelant age of 10.
Because of this harsh scolding, and being told that he'd disgraced the head house, he forced himself even deeper into his mental solitude.
After training with his mask, he trained to release his shikai, which he did with a little more ease. This gave him his first encounter with his zanpakuto, the being within his conscious, with whom he trained with.
There wasn't much of his shikai to master, and after he did so, he spent most of his time in his inner world, conversing and playing chess with Gouon Umino. He developed a close relationship with the sword, and when the time came for him to train for bankai, as he was to inherit the head of the family and would need to be able to use the second release, he was able to draw out his spirit with more ease than one normal ly would and subdue it in a game of chess, which he had played many times before.
So, at the earth-equivelant age of 20, Raion learned bankai.
However, his unpleasable father was, yet again, displeased with his son, unhappy that his zanpakuto was a defensive type.
Unable to please his father at all, Raion finally forced his opinions upon his parents, only to get into a serious argument that resulted in hollow masks being worn and Raion being banished and disowned.
As he wandered the streets of his clan's stronghold, he met up with some lower-class members who, as it turns out, were very unhappy with their clan leader and how he was running their clan.
After a year of living with them, Raion had risen through their ranks, the scar on his cheek symbolizing his disownment healed by their healers, symbolizing their acceptance of him. He had become an icon for them, as well as their leader, and had planned a well-thought-out rebellion, a coup d'etat of his clan.
Raion set his plan into motion a year after his mastery of the bankai, and stormed the nobles of his clan. As the lowers took on the highers, Raion went directly to the main house, defeating his mother easily and ready to take on his father.
In their ensuing fight, Raion was forced to use both his hollow mask and his bankai against his superior father and, in a turn of events, his four younger siblings entered the room, frightened from the commotion of the coup d'etat.
Shocked at how his father was unchanged by the arrival of his own children, Raion entered a hatred and possibly hollow fueled rage and slew his father right there in front of the four younger sakana.
In the larger fight, with their leader dead, the nobles of the clan lost their will and were either killed or executed, the lowers emerging victorious.
Raion, unable to tame his younger siblings, saw that he couldn't explain what had happened to them and persuade them to his side, didn't want to kill them, so he did the only other thing: disowned them.
They were sent on their way, and Raion went to ruling the clan in his father's place, just like he had been ready to do since birth.
"Rook to Queen Four." The lion said, sitting on its floating pedestal. The large figure that was the rook moved forward a number of steps, drawing an insanely large sword and sending it straight through the chest of a smaller figure, destroying it and taking its stop.
"King to Queen Four." Raion said, also on a floating pedestal, albeit there was a throne on his. The obscenely large figure that was the king moved forward, leaping forward and devouring the rook, taking its spot. "And thats Checkmate, Gouon."
The floating pedestals descended to the ground, the figures on them stepping off. The broken pieces that lay scattered around the board began to reassemble, moving back to their original places. The two competitors moved to the center of the board, the only open space.
"Good game." Gouon said, clearly impressed by Raion. All the vizard did was nod, emotionlessly, as everything began to slowly dissolve. Gouon sighed.
"You're still like this." He said. "You've always been like this."
"I'll always be like this." Raion said, emotionlessly again. Everything had mostly dissolved now, leaving just enough time for Gouon to sigh again before he disappeared with everything else, leaving only a void, like the blackness you see when your eyes are shut.
And Raion opened his eyes, dispelling this darkness, seeing the ever familiar throne room of the Sakana head clan, yet again...
