Raven's powers rely on his emotional state, therefore he must always be calm and collected to accurately control them. Because of this emotional restraint he appears very secretive and anti-social. He wants to have friends, true friends, but he knows that if he lets them in his powers may harm them. For this reason Raven is often alone, found either mediating, training, or reading. He speaks in monotone, reflecting the lack of emotion he puts out, and often doesn't speak at all unless spoken to. Though he seems cold and distant on the outside he is actually very lonely, and badly wishes for friendship. The more intense his emotions become the more power is released and the more uncontrollable it becomes. He is very intelligent, having a photographic memory, and with this intelligence has been able to memorize several thousand books. He is able to call upon this memory for almost any purpose. The subject that is most commonly found in his library of knowledge is on Hollows and their behavior. With this amount of knowledge Raven is known to give out sage like advice when the time calls for it. Raven is often able to predict the movements of his opponent by watching the subtle movements of their body. It's not to say he cannot be surprised by his opponent though. In battle Raven is cold and calculating, preferring to end battles quickly rather than draw them out. If he can help it he will end his opponent in one foul swoop.Appearance:
Raven is a deep and complicated person, wishing to become close to others, but having to force himself to be distant for their safety. He is in a constant battle for control with his inner hollow, again, adding to the emotional distress he must attempt to control. This is the reason Raven must meditate so often, in order to keep his emotions in check. Sometimes during meditation Raven must attempt to stop his inner Hollow from surfacing. This is often done through telepathic battle, considering he and his inner Hollow both use telepathy. Raven is able to use telepathy to read the minds of others, and subtly influence them. This is dependent on the strength of the receiver's mind however.
Raven's favorite food is calamari and his favorite drink green tea. In reality he will eat nearly anything, but for some reason green tea and calamari sooth his nerves and help him relax.
He has a very dry sense of humor, and a sarcastic wit. He does not speak often, and jokes even less, but when he does you can expect a sarcastic comment to come. He does not intend for the comments to be hurtful or insulting, but as some would say "he calls them as he sees them". This may also attribute to the outside opinion of him as a cold and emotionless man, though he is far from that description.
His favorite hobbies are reading, meditating, and training, as stated previously. Training takes place either in the real world, far away from any civilization, or within the confines of Raven's inner world. The training is often intense, destroying most of the landscape within the training ground. For this reason Raven never trains close to towns or cities. This is obviously to avoid any innocent people's injury.
Raven is on the taller side, having originally been born in the United States. He is 6'00'' and weighs 175 pounds. Despite having been born nearly a Millennia Raven looks to be in his mid twenties. He has shoulder length black hair, luminous lavender eyes and skin as pale as the moon. His build is that of a lean muscular man about his age, showing off his life of training. He does not really care too much about his appearance, but does care about bathing regularly.Hollow Mask:
He wears a black tunic, under which he wears a black long sleeved shirt. On the shoulders of the tunic are two steel pads about two inches wide. They are sewed into the fabric and sit on Raven's shoulders. Further down, on each of the black long sleeved shirt's forearms sits another metal plate. This plate covers the entire top of his forearm, starting a few inches short of the elbow and ending a few inches short of the wrist. The belt at the waist keeping the tunic held together is made of black fabric. The bottom of the tunic extends to about mid thigh and is split below the belt in the front, allowing for better movement.. Under which he has black pants leading down into his black leather boots. The pants end at the top of his foot, but the boots cover this up. They extend upward, ending about 6 inches from his knee. Topping the entire outfit off Raven wears a large black cloak (cape and hood). The cloak often folds in the correct way that it covers the rest of his body and when the hood is up obscures his face, other than his mouth.
His Hollow mask is rounded, almost like a skull, fitting his entire face. Two rounded eye holes are visible, but they are always black and empty. The nose hole is left completely empty as well, always black. Facing downward there is no mouth of the mask, only another darkness, this however only happens when the hood of Raven's cloak is up. If it is down when he summons the Hollow mask you are able to see his mouth. There is no bottom to the nose hole, it extends to the bottom, seemingly cutting the mask in two. This is not so, as a silver decoration holds the two pieces of the mask together. This decoration extends to the top of the mask.Hollow Powers:

Oscuro Cero: This is an alternate form of Cero that Raven is able to use when his Hollow mask is summoned. The Cero that is forms feeds off of the dark energy within Raven. This forms a black and purple energy ball with red energy sparking off of it. Once fired the attack will destroy nearly anything in it's path, and then result in a large explosion.Inner Hollow:
High Speed Regeneration: While his Hollow mask is summoned Raven is able to regenerate amounts of damage that he would not be able to heal from otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to lost limbs. He is only able to regenerate 25% of his body. His Inner Hollow makes use of this ability frequently, forcing the summon of Raven's Hollow mask to save his life.
Terror incarnate. This is the phrase that comes to mind when someone would think of Tinieblas. When he was still free, he was a poweful Vasto Lorde, able to fight on par with 3 Captain level Shinigami. He himself was able to kill 2 Captains of the Gotei 13 during his march on Soul Society. He feeds on darkness and wants nothing but destruction .Tinieblas is silent, rarely speaking, but this only adds to his terror. A silent killer is more fearsome than one who speaks to you. His Hollow hole cannot be seen unless he would take off his cloak, then it would be visible in his chest. Beneath said cloak he wears black leather armor, hiding his true features. His skin can never be seen, even when his armor is torn, nothing is seen but darkness, then the armor heals and becomes whole again. Tinieblas' power was undeniable, and only when he was force ably fused with Raven did his reign of terror end... on the outside. He realizes that he is unable to kill Raven or allow him to be killed, less he himself be killed. Instead he helps his host body, until he can take over and continue his reign. Tinieblas speaks telepathically and is able to completely decimate someone with a "lesser mind" by destroying their mind.Zampakuto's name:

Ankoku appears in the form of a Black Raven with 4 glowing red eyes. He is very silent, preferring to lead and make Raven figure things out for himself rather than speak. He can speak, he prefers not to. Though Ankoku does not speak to Raven he does care for him as if Raven were a brother. While meditating, Ankoku often projects himself into our world and enjoys the fresh air and freedom he gains from not being cooped up in Raven's Inner World. He especially likes the berries of the real world. Like Raven, Ankoku keeps mostly to himself, but still longs to be social to all those he comes in contact with. Whenever Raven makes a connection with a person, Ankoku will attempt to as well via Raven's telepathy or projecting itself into our world.

Inner World: Raven's inner world appears as though it would be in space. The entirety of the space surrounded by the night sky, riddled with stars. The space is far from empty however. Pieces of rock dot the space, almost as if they were floating platforms. All one has to do is will a platform to rise, and it will. These platforms of rock vary from miles long, to as small as a pebble. The dimension does not seem to follow the laws of our world's space and time. In sections gravity can be heavier, then you walk out of it and suddenly it feels as though you are on the moon. Some sections of the rock platforms are lush and green, with running streams and others are baron and dead. Ankoku is the only animal to inhabit this area.

The Zanpakuto, like many others, is in the shape of a Katana. The weapon is 40 inches long, the wrapping on the hilt is black and the scabbard is also black. The guard is black and engraved on it several black birds flying amongst clouds. The sword is hidden under Raven's cloak, with the nylon wrapping tied to his belt. Raven is a master of Iaidō. He is able to quickly draw his blade, strike his opponent, clear blood from the blade and return it to it's scabbard in less then a second. This is, of course, dependant on the level of power and speed of his opponent.Shikai Release phrase::

Raven's Zanpakuto does not take another shape, it stays the same. Instead, Raven's kidou ability and speed increase dramatically. He is still able to wield his blade with pin point accuracy and deadly precision, but is more reliant on the powers his Shikai form grants. The power he gains in this form is heavily reliant on Raven's emotional state. If he is calm and collected, he has perfect control of his powers. The more intense emotions he feels, the more powerful his powers become, but at the same time, the more uncontrollable they become. Any feelings of doubt or hesitation will have adverse effects on his ability to use his powers. Raven must keep his concentration in order to use his powers as well. If distracted he may lose what ever control he has on his powers at the time.Shikai Abilities::
Kage Toriatsukai: Through this ability Raven is able to mimic telekinesis. He is able to shroud any physical object in dark energy and manipulate it to his will. He is able to manipulate any object (s) as long as they do not exceed 700 pounds and are within 150 meters of him. He is able to manipulate a maximum of 7 objects at once as long as they do not exceed the weight limit. Raven is only able to keep control of the object as long as he is able to concentrate on it. If he loses concentration, the dark energy will vanish and the object will no longer be under Raven's control. Though, he is able to re-establish contact with it by regaining concentration. When Raven uses his abilities, he unconsciously places a small portion of is soul within the dark energy used, this allows him better control of his powers. If he attempts to manipulate something that has a soul, his power will be negated. This is not to say though, that he cannot use other forces to manipulate an object with a soul, for instance; he could use his powers to gain control of the clothing a person wears, rather than the person themselves. He is able to direct the energy and control the objects with just his mind, but by using his hands he is able to increase his accuracy and control of this power by nearly ten times. The objects under the influence of this ability retain their normal properties, the dark energy does not protect them. In other words, if Raven manipulates a bolder, that bolder can still be broken. Depending on how it is broken, it may or may not be enough to break Raven's hold on the remains of said bolder.Bankai Description:
Kage Bouei: Raven is able to erect a barrier of dark energy. This barrier repels what ever touches it and can be nearly any shape Raven wills it to be, most often it is rounded. Creating this shield is as simple as Raven waving his hand in front of him, and the barrier generating. It is possible to break the shield if enough energy is put into an attack, or it is struck repeatedly with significant force. Like his other abilities Raven must keep his concentration in order to keep the shield up. He is able to multi task, but the shield will be weaker than if it had his full attention.
Kage Chikara: Raven concentrates the dark energy through his body then blasts it from his hands in the form of a concussive blast. This blast does not result in an explosion, but can tear through most targets. This is the only purely offense power Raven has while in his Shikai state. The blast can vary in strength, from simply push to a destructive blast tearing through seemingly anything.
Kurayami AnkokuBankai Abilities:
This is the name of Raven's bankai, and like it's name says "Demonic Darkness", this form reveals the Dark inner self Raven tries so hard to keep concealed. Not only does Raven change physically, his power also dramatically increases by 10 fold. His eyes glow red and a second pair form above his eyes, creating 4 glowing red eyes, reflecting his Zanpakuto spirit's most notable feature. Dark energy swirls around him, absorbing his cloak as it does, it outlines his body, about 2 inches from the skin being dark energy, then 2 large bat-like wings form on his back, below which a 6'00'' prehensile tail forms. All of his powers from Shikai state are greatly enhanced, and he is able to control his powers to much greater extent. As for Raven's Zanpakuto, it's blade is shrouded in the dark energy, transforming into a black blade. Through concentration when he slashes with the blade Raven is able to blast a form of his Kage Chikara. Instead of being a concussive blast, it becomes an slicing blast of dark energy, that can cut through most objects like a knife through warm butter.
Kage Toriatsukai: This is the ability that is enhanced the most. The weight limit of how much he is able to lift with this ability is now two tons, and he is able to manipulate any number of objects he wishes as long as their combined weight does not exceed 2 tons. His range has also been increased to 250 meters.Skill Level: Kidou: Advanced
An Ki: This is a unique ability that Raven uses to transport himself when in dire situations. First, he shrouds himself in dark energy, manipulating the smallest amount of Reishi that makes up his form. Raven is then able to "phase" through solid objects by shifting his own reishi through the reishi making up the object. He is able to hold this form for 15 seconds, after which he risks accidentally melding with the surrounding reishi permanently. While in this form he is unable to use any of his other abilities, except telepathy, and is unable to do physical harm to anything. The amount of times he is able to perform this technique is dependent on the amount of reiatsu he has at the time. It takes quite a bit of energy to use this ability, and as such he is able to use it 3 times, then must wait 10 minutes before he is able to perform it again.
Yami Kouchiku: Taking his power to manipulate dark energy even further Raven is able to create simple object out of the dark energy. Raven is able to extend a portion of the dark energy outward, then shift it into nearly any simply construct he wishes. For instance, he is able to create a large hammer out of dark energy, or his favorite construct, a pair of large claws to constrict his opponent. These objects can be broken or disrupted with significant force.

History/Background:
Raven was brought to the Soul Society when he was only 10 years old. He did not remember anything from his past life, only the single memory of being hunted down by a monstrous being with a white mask, then being saved by a man wielding sword and wearing black clothing. When he awoke in the strange place his head throbbed constantly. The first thing he noticed was a Raven sitting on top of a sign near a building, it's 4 red eyes staring at Raven. It seemed to give him the strength to stand, even though it felt awkward. This town was so unfamiliar to him, it frightened him, right down to his core. It didn't help that Raven would soon encounter the hard truth of Soul Society. Two boys found him, and attempted to mug him. Out of fear Raven tapped into power he did not know he possessed. This dark energy poured from his form and knocked the two boys unconscious, and would have probably done worse had he not been stopped by another Shinigami, named Yamamoto. The shinigami offered Raven a home, and a name. He took the offer, and become the Surrogate son of one of the most powerful Shinigami to ever exist.RP Sample:
For the next 20 years Yamamoto offered Raven private training lessons, wanting to teach the young boy how to control his powers more efficiently before enrolling him to the Shinigami Academy. During his training Raven showed a great talent for Kidou, which Yamamoto attributed to Raven's clearly kidou based powers. It was then that Raven learned his emotions were what influenced his abilities. He learned that in order to contain his powers, he must meditate and train every day. Yamamoto's training was not easy, but Raven knew that if he was to control his powers and make Yamamoto proud he would have to endure.
20 years after his arrival in the Soul Society Raven was enrolled in the Shinigami Academy. The other students saw him as antisocial and distant, but he was easily at the top of his class. Raven made two friends while at the academy, and only two. Yukisku and Shirtomi, both of which would later accompany Raven to Captain seats in the Gotei 13.
When it came to Kidou training Raven was easily the best in his class, learning spells nearly 20 ranks higher than spells his classmates where learning. He attributed this partially to the fact he was being privately trained by Yamamoto, but he knew that his natural abilities played a large part in it. Yukisku was the top classmate in terms of swordsmanship, and Shirtomi was the top of their class in hand to hand combat. Together, the three of them held the top ranks of their class in nearly every subject. What Raven lacked in muscle mass, he made up for with his high intelligence, his amazing speed, and his undeniably great proficiency with kidou. No other students aside from his friends knew about his developing ability to read other's minds. It came in flashes, and was not always concentrated, but he was able to distinguish some of the voiced, and this would often allow him to more accurately predict his opponent's movements.
In 6 years all of their hard work paid off. Raven, Yukisku, and Shirtomi graduated with honors from the academy. Raven chose to join the Kidou corps, Yukisku chose to join the 13th division, and Shirtomi chose to join the 8th division. During his time with the corps Raven was able to completely learn the list of 99 Kidou and Bakudo, something which his higher ups never believed possible. It was around this time he began to have nightmares, dreaming of a small boy being attacked by a monstrous being with a white mask, which he now knew was a hollow. Raven did not understand what these dreams meant. He asked Yamamoto for help, but his surrogate father told him he needed to search himself for the answer. So Raven did just that. He found it was a memory, a fragment of a memory. He could not recall the full form of the memory, but he did remember what the Hollow looked like.
Raven spent the next several years studying Hollow's and their behavior. He wanted to figure out who this Hollow that attacked him was, and he wanted to kill him. He found out that the shinigami who sent him to the Soul Society that day while he was unconscious was killed by that Hollow, and now, decades later, that Hollow had dropped off the radar, a report never coming in of it's death. Raven was determined to kill this Hollow, to put his own mind to rest, but did not know where to search for him.
The years went by, and Raven quickly climbed the ranks in the Kidou corps, becoming Lieutenant of the corps. He continued his studies, learning more about Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the Human World. He wanted to learn more about the world that he seemed to forget. During his studies he found out that Hollow's given enough time, had the ability to evolve into higher forms. This sparked an idea, perhaps he could not find the Hollow that had attacked him because it had retreated into Hueco Mundo to evolve. It made sense, but Raven had no way of gaining access to the Hollow's home land. He had hit a dead end, and had no way to get around it. Raven felt disappointment in this turn of events, but in light of the news, decided he needed to continue advancing his skills.
It wasn't long after that Raven was requested by Head Captain Yamamoto to be transfered to Squad 5 of the Gotei 13, as the new Captain. Raven's friends were elated when he accepted, the trio was now back together. Yukisku and Shirtomi helped Raven train, catching him up in swordsmanship and hand to hand combat, which he had gotten rusty with due to his extended amount of time with his nose in books.
It was around this time that the attack happened. A Garganta opened in the sky, and from it floated down 1 individual. It's black cloak covered it's body, and it's mask signified it was a Hollow. It said nothing as it began it's reign of terror. The being seemed to know of the barrier around the Seireitei and instead began destroying the Rukongai, one sector at a time. It's Ceros were powerful enough to destroy blocks at a time, and anyone who dared challenge it was obliterated in an instant.
Head Captain Yamamoto realized this threat. He announced to the Squad Captains that he believes a Vasto Lorde, the most powerful of hollow, has infiltrated the Soul Society. He assigned 3 squads to attempt to stop the being. Squad 5, Squad 8, and Squad 13 were sent to attempt to defeat the monstrous being. As the squads neared the scene where the battle would be had, the Vasto Lorde turned to face it's opponents. It seemed to be waiting for them. Raven immediately noticed something about this being. It's mask was familiar, it brought back memories... from his past.
"Tinieblas" Raven heard a menacing voice say in his head.
The battle began, and it wasn't long before the Shinigami realized they were outclassed. The Vasto Lorde picked them off, one by one, killing the lower ranks with one burst of lighting from it's palm. The higher ranked Shinigami were able to block or dodge the attack, but now their numbers were cut by 3/4. Each of the captains transformed into bankai and attempted to attack the Hollow at once. Yukisku was the first to fall victim to the being's onslaught. Raven fought as hard as he could, but to no avail, the Hollow was fighting at full power, as were the 2 remaining captains, but neither budged. The Hollow managed to isolate the Lieutenants and with a bust of lightning from it's palm was able to kill them. Only Raven and Shirtomi remianed, the Hollow closed in on the two remaining captains. Raven then fired off Hado #88, in an attempt to finish off the Vasto Lorde. He managed to hit it, but only the it's arm was gone. Shirtomi took this opportunity to close in, in an attempt to make the kill, however, he was surprised to see the Hollow quickly regenerate, then extend it's arm, stretching and gripping Shirtomi's throat. After which, is fired a cero, killing Raven's friend in a large explosion of black and red energy.
Raven watched in horror as these events transpired.
"Now finally, your turn" He heard the voice in his head again. The Hollow walked toward Raven, it's menacing presences causing Raven to shake. It was then he knew what he had to do. Raven had come across a forbidden Kidou in his studies, and now, he had nothing else to lose. He stood, and recited the incantation, then rushed at the Hollow. Once in the required amount of space, Raven calls out the name of the technique, the area around the two glowing green. Suddenly, a force pulls the two together, slamming their bodies into on another. Both glowed green, then combined. An explosion of energy then erupts, obliterating the landscape around the center of the blast. As the bright light from the blast dies down, Raven lay in the center of a large crater. Getting up slowly, Raven stumbles, he didn't understand. That Kidou was supposed to tether his opponent's soul to his body. Then he would be able to kill himself, while also killing the opponent. It didn't make sense, he must have done the technique wrong. But, if he had, what happened to the Hollow?
Raven reported the turn of events to Head Captain Yamamoto. The captain was greatly disappointed Raven had used a forbidden kidou to stop his enemy, but did not reprimand him. Instead, he told Raven that if he experienced anything strange, to come directly to him. Raven agreed and was on his way. Over the next few years, Raven began to have nightmares again, this time about the Hollow they had fought. Tinieblas was his name, and he was somehow having an adverse effect on Raven. His powers were not working correctly, he could not meditate, and he was slowly losing control of his abilities. Yamamoto explained to him that when he performed the Kidou incorrectly, instead of bonding the Hollow's soul to his body, he bound it to his own soul. The Hollow was a part of Raven now, and Raven had to figure out how to control it.
In order to protect the safety of the Soul Society Raven decided to leave, in self exile, to learn how to control his powers. He left for the world of the living, 600 years before the beginning of the Bleach Series. He has been training to control his now inner Hollow, and though he has been gone for 600 years, Tinieblas is still fighting for control, and while his Hollow Mask is summoned, Raven is only able to access 65% of Tinieblas' power.
His mind was completely blank, he could not remember his name, his parents, nothing but 1 small portion of his past. He remembered a few days after his death a monster trying to kill him. It chased him, it taunted him, it hurt him, but it wouldn't kill him. The young boy feared this monster, it's emotionless white face haunting his every waking moment. One day, the creature appeared, this time, an almost feral look to it. This was the day it decided to kill the young boy. The monster knocked him around, throwing him against the ground, the side of buildings, into the air, and slamming him down with it's enormous paw. He did not know what to expect, how would this end? He was already dead, what would happen now? Finally, the monster slammed the boy against the ground, intent on finishing it's prey off. The boy could feel his vision blurring. Before he blacked out, he saw a man appear, seemingly out of mid air. He wore a Shihakushō, and had a gentle look about his face.
"You're safe" he said, then, everything went dark.
When the boy awoke he was in a place he did not know. It seemed to resemble somewhere in Feudal Japan. His head hurt, it hurt so much. He was having trouble standing on his own, he couldn't concentrate. Looking up the boy notices a Raven perched on a sign above a building. It was unusual, it's four glowing eyes staring at the boy.
"Get up" He hears in his head. He closes his eyes and clenches his hands against his head, which was throbbing yet again. The boy looks back up, the bird is gone. He attempts to stand slowly, stumbling a bit. Getting onto both feet, the boy looks around, he didn't know where he was. He didn't know where he came from. He didn't know who he was. He walks forward, stumbling again, making his way in between two small buildings. He leans his hand against the wall, attempting to stay standing.
"Look what we've got here boys" the boy hears a young man's voice say.
"It's not safe to be wondering around alone" He hears another. The two slowly close in, circling the young boy. "Maybe he has something on him" The second one says again. He grab's the boy's collar.
"leave me alone" the boy mumbles, his head beginning to throb again. One of the older boys laughs.
"What was that?" one of the boys says mockingly. "I didn't quite catch that"
"I said leave me alone" the boy says a little louder. The boys chuckle again and reels back.
"I don't think so you little brat" he cackles.
"I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!" the boy shouts hysterically, the pain in his head erupting. Black energy pours from the boy's form, slamming the two boys against the walls of the buildings around them. the boy cries out, the energy too much for him to handle. The energy swarms the two boys, slowly pressing down on them. Tears stream down the boy's face as he cries out, the energy overwhelming him.
"Thats enough" A gruff voice calls out. the boy looks upward and sees a tall old bald man, with a long beard. He jumps down from the top of the building, and thats when the boy noticed, he was wearing a familiar Shihakushō. He did not know why it seemed familiar to him. Walking toward the young boy the man holds out his hand. Instantly, the dark energy begins to recede back to the boy. The two boys were unconscious, and the old man walks by the boy. He checks their pulses, then walks back to the boy.
"I do not know what that was, but it was quite impressive" he says. "How would you like to come live with me. I could show you how to control that power of yours. My name is Yamamoto, yours is?" The old mans asks.
"I... I don't know" The boy says, looking down.
"Hm... well then, can't let you not have a name. How about I call you Raven. Your hair reminded me of it" Yamamoto suggest. The boy nods.
"Raven... I like that name"
