Tier Ranking System
Here on Chain of Life we use a system that gives certain ranks/levels to a character. It's separated into five tiers from Beginner to Almighty, these five categories are all separated in three levels from weak to strong. A stronger rank defeats a weaker rank unless the weaker ranked person really plays well. This is to avoid powerplayers, as members of the staff can interrupt and END a fight if people who wouldn't normally be able to defeat someone does so through powerplaying or godmodding.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are all the levels with descriptions:
D Tier: (1) - Beginner / (2) - Intermediate / (3) - Advanced [D-1, D-2, D-3]
Examples: Low-Level Humans, Newly born Spirits, Lesser Hollows
All spiritual beings need to have a starting point, and this is it. At this level, humans are able to see spiritual beings, either as light shimmers, or as full blown creatures. At this level's strongest, abilities like Don Kanonji's could be used. This class of character is usually humans with no or very faint spiritual abilities, newly born spirits in Seireitei, or spirits with no abilities, and lesser-Hollows.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
C Tier: (1) - Beginner / (2) - Intermediate / (3) - Advanced [C-1, C-2, C-3]
Examples: Humans with Spiritual Abilities, Academy student Shinigami, Low Level Hollows, Starting Quincy
At this level, characters usually have a limited amount of knowledge in controlling their reiatsu. Most spiritual beings will not be able to use any form of stepping at this level. Shinigami can use low-numbered Kido at most. Humans and Quincy usually start at this level, with spiritual abilities able to be used at this point.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
B Tier: (1) - Beginner / (2) - Intermediate / (3) - Advanced [B-1, B-2, B-3]
Examples: Mid to High Level Hollows, Low Level Arrancar, Shinigami/Vizard with Shikai, Low Level Quincy
This level is the standard starting level for most spiritual beings. At this point, Shinigami and Vizard will have acquired Shikai, and can use up to mid-level Kido with little effort. All spiritual beings with stepping abilities can be used at this level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A Tier: (1) - Beginner / (2) - Intermediate / (3) - Advanced [A-1, A-2, A-3]
Examples: High-number Espada Class, Vice-Captain Class, Low-Level Captains, Low-Level Vizards, High Level Quincy
This is commonly known as the Vice-Captain/Low Captain level. Bankai will usually bring you into this level. A mastery of one's Shikai could also grant you this level, though it's possible to cap at this level without Bankai for Shinigami and Vizards. Some Captains can also be considered in this level. High-Level Kido can be used at this level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
S Tier: (1) - Beginner / (2) - Intermediate / (3) - Advanced [S-1, S-2, S-3]
Examples: Low-number Espada Class, Captain Class, High-Level Vizards, Vizard Mask to Vizard Ress Ichigo Kurosaki Level
This is commonly known as the Captain level, this is a strong level that only strong characters will be graded with, like the members of the Espada and Gotei 13 Captains. It is very rare if anyone other than a Shinigami, vizard, or arrancar is graded this level. Mastery of one's Bankai automatically grants you access to this level. All Kido are now open at this level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
God Tier: 1 - Beginner/2 - Intermediate/3 - Advanced [G-1, G-2, G-3]
Examples: Aizen Sousuke, Yamamoto-Genryƻsai, Espada 1/0, Final Getsuga-Tensho Ichigo Level
This level is extremely rare and will mostly be used for Canon characters and Event NPCs. These characters can compete with two or more captain level characters and have extreme strength, in most cases this strength is built up over thousands of years.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Below is a more specific description of each level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) Beginner:
You're attacks are placed on a weaker end of the spectrum. You hit harder than those a tier below, but you have trouble fighting those above you.
(2) Intermediate:
This is the middle level, that most characters will be placed in. These characters can stand up to those on both ends of their tier. While having more difficulty with Strong characters and much less with weak characters.
(3) Advanced:
This is the strongest class you can reach in one level. You can fight any level below you, and only have some sort of trouble with those ranked at Average.
How you rank up:
Ranking is acquired by posting on the site. Joining in story lines and involving your characters in plots allows your character to develop both in character and power. As a story-driven site, we try to support character development as much as we can, and as such, reward such work by allowing characters to advance in class and tier-class.
All applications for Rank-Ups are to be made in the appropriate sections (refer to the Guides to find out more information).
Note; the higher Tier Level your character is, the harder it will become to level up.
Each Race has their respective Rank caps.
