Ethical Rules
1. Rules
a. No one is above them. Especially by the Staff and Admins. Rules can be broken by staff members in very rare special conditions.
b. Everyone needs to obey these rules as they are the guidelines that keep role-playing fun. Play it nice, keep to the rules.
2. Harassment
a. Discrimination will not be tolerated in any way and is seen as a serious offense. Discrimination does not include refusing to RP with someone because you don't like them or the way they write. We're talking gender, race, etc,... here people.
b. Racism will not be tolerated and is also seen as a serious violation.
c. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated either and is a serious offense.
d. Flaming has to be kept to a minimum, try giving an educated argument instead of shouting vulgarity.
3. Respect
a. In order to stop people from harassing other people you'll have to respect all the other individuals on the site. I'm not asking for you to hug everyone and be best friends with everyone, but you yourself can decide to tolerate another person (If not, try to walk away instead of starting something). Might there be any issues, be sure to PM a staff member about it. Be sure not to be disrespectful to anyone however.
b. Don't bother the staff incessantly to grade your material, it's quite rude as we already do what we can to get things done as fast as possible.
4. Multiple accounts
a. Refrain from using multiple accounts, regardless of reasons. One person should have one account in order for us to keep in check that everyone has the same limitations, and to make activity checks easier. If you and your sibling share a computer, an exception will be made. If you are caught with multiple accounts, one of the accounts will be deleted. We'll flip a coin/roll a die for it.
5. Content
a. Do not post links to adult content (Pictures, movies or sites). To elaborate on the term 'adult Content'; Porn, hentai or any of that kind of content. These can be posted in the mature board. This rule also goes for the xat.
b. Refrain from advertising other sites in any other place than the Advertisement board. Also, if you are advertising CoL, then please do it in the other forums Advert Board.
6. Language
a. Try to keep chat speak to a minimum. This board is based on an English Speaking Website, and as such, we expect English to be spoken. Some Japanese references and so forth is fine, but the general language preferred is Americanized English
b. Don't go overboard with vulgarity.
c. Do not go around spamming, especially if it's in combination with advertisement. It's plainly retarded or/and annoying.
d. Understand and abide by the Xat Chat Rules.
Application Rules
1. Canon Characters
a. As stated below, Canon Characters are limited to 2 Canon Characters per player. Players with canons must post with their said character(s) at least one post per week. If this is not upheld, they may be forced to forfeit their canon character, unless otherwise noted in a Leave of Absence Thread, or otherwise discussed with Staff.
b. If an active member is able to post frequently with their 2 Canon Characters for an entire month, a third additional character may be applied for. Like previously, if they are still able to consecutively post with all three characters, at least one post for each character a week, after a second month, they may apply for a fourth. However, four canon characters is the absolute limit for any player on the board, excluding Non Playable Characters.
c. Only one applicant per Canon Character in the Applications Section of the board. Please make certain that your canon character is not already be applied for before making your own application. The first initial application will be reviewed first, while the other is archived.
2. Applications In General
a. As one of the new rules now, it is required to read over the Applications FAQ thread, which can be located on the main applications page. Review it and follow the directions on how to properly fill out an adequate application.
b. As stated below, please do not pester the reviewing staff in looking over your application. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Post a reply in your application, stating that it is complete and awaiting review only after the initial review; that will inform the staff that the application is ready to be processed. If it was originally a Work in Progress, simply delete the 'WIP' from your application and replace it with 'Complete.' Do NOT PM the staff, or mention your application in Xat. It will only delay the process and annoy the staff members.
c. Do not post in the application threads of others. Your post will be deleted, and you will receive a warning via PM. Applications are to be held between the applicant and the staff member or members reviewing the application. It is simply common sense; don't do it.
d. Once a player has either a replied post by a staff reviewer, or is currently working on an application stated as WIP or similar, the applicant has one full week (seven days) to make the proper edits needed. If the proper edits have not been made within one week's time, then the application will be moved to archives. This is to help some canon characters from simply sitting in limbo, and to help promote more story lines.
e. Use our application template or your application will be denied.
f. Please refrain from using the board/xat name of someone else for your character.
3. Event Characters
a. Event characters can only be applied for story lines in which the general idea for both the story and the character have been approved by a staff member.
b. Event characters will be processed in the same manner as normal applications and will follow the same format.
c. Some leniency will be given to Event Characters due to their short appearance, and in order to help with the storyline he/she is being used for.
d. Event characters can only be used for specified stories, and as stated above, must receive permission to be used for the specified story. Additional permission must be received if the character will be appearing in more than one storyline.
e. Event characters may be exempt from Sample Posts. This will be on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the importance of the Event character in question.
Posting Rules
1. Role-playing
a. Do not God-mode, you can't control someone elses characters, meaning you can't control their actions and neither inflict damage on him or her directly. Wrong Example: "He pierced her chest." Good Example: "He attempted to pierce her chest, thrusting his sword towards her chest."
b. Do not Meta-game, this means that your characters knows things he or she couldn't possibly have known. I.E Someone that's never fought Ichigo before, instantly knowing how his Zanpakuto works.
c. Do not Power-post, this means that you're constantly posting before your turn or to bump up your thread. It is acceptable to skip someones turn if it is taking them literally days to reply.
d. Third person Role-play, you should always Role-play in third person on this forum, as we do not support first person role-playing.
e. Personal issues towards someone need to be put aside while RPing, and outside of RPing. We don't like having to get involved in arguments, so please don't make us.
f. Stay in character, meaning OOC posts go in the OOC board.
g. Keep any and all RPing out of the xat.
2. Profiles
a. Do not Role-play before your profile has been approved by an official Staff member.
b. As stated above, please refrain from posting in another members profile, only staff may post a review or helpful hint in them. We're sorry if this cramps any member's will to help, but it's a general politeness factor.
3. Language
a. Sexual intercourse will not be allowed, if you wanna do it, do it via Instant Messaging or in the Mature board.
4. Limitations
a. In order to be fairer to all members, you are allowed only a max of 2 canons starting off, however, you may have as many OC's as you desire.
6. Posting Frequency
a. All members are required to post at least ONCE every week, unless you are on a temp leave which must be posted in the Temporary Leave Section. Failure to do so means you forfeit your character which may or may not be given back at the Mod's discretion.
b. Monthly activity checks will be done and you will be expected to reply to them in a timely fashion. This helps us have a better idea with who's active and who's fallen off the face of the planet.
c. If someone is waiting on your canon in a topic, you must post within three days of the persons post in order to keep your CANON character. Failure to do so will result in your canon being revoked.
d. Members that do not have any characters or those that have recently had characters revoked, have one week (7 days) to reclaim them, or create a new character. Members that do not will have their accounts deleted or banned.
Common Sense Stuff
This should be pretty much common sense, but apparently, we've been getting a lot of applications recently with people either neglecting the Application FAQ, or the Powers FAQ. As such, this has been placed in BOTH sections since it is of great importance.
-Strength-
No single application will determine their own power. No application will state that it is stronger than a Captain, Lieutenant or the like. The Moderator reviewing the application will determine the strength Tier of the application, end of story.
-Hierarchy-
No application will state in its history what Seat they currently hold, or if they are a Captain, or Espada number unless otherwise determined or discussed with a Staff Member.
-Canon Interaction-
No application will hold any reference to a Canon Character, specifically any sort of history involvement, or force a Canon Character player to acknowledge the history of an Original Character.
-Canon Siblings/Family-
No application will hold any blood relation to a Canon Character unless specifically determined by a staff member for storyline purposes only, and even still, it would be VERY VERY slim for such an occurrence to happen.
-Application Process-
a: Do not bump your application, or mention in the Xat that your application is finished. The staff have lives outside of the internet. A constant flow of applications arrive each day, and we handle them with oldest to newest. Thus, bumping your application will only force it to be looked at later. Mentioning it in the Xat chat will force us to neglect your application as punishment for being impatient.
b. Once more, use our template our your application will be denied immediately.
-Editing and Revisions-
Post a Reply to your Application when you have made the proper Editing required/asked for by the Moderator. That will inform us that you have finished your editing, and are ready for a secondary review.
-FAQs-
READ THEM ALL; that's pretty much common sense! Check them for updates, as they are updated every now and then.
