Vizard Application

--------------------
General Information
--------------------
Name: Chie Yamanaka
Actual Age: 239
Appearing Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance
Chie is a tall woman standing in at 5'10" and weighing in at 160 pounds. She has been described as having a voluptuous chest and a physically in shape body. Her body has some semblance of muscle to see as the fruits of her training and exercise. Her face has great violet eyes and long flowing red hair.
Chie generally wears a simple t-shirt with a jacket and some jeans but will change into her shinigami uniform if she is headed for a trying battle. She has a modified shinigami outfit, however, which has no sleeves and places her zanpakutō on her right side because she starts a fight using her left though she is ambidextrous. Chie wears a golden bracelet given to her by Yuuichi and she looks at it as a reminder of the loss she suffered at her friend’s death and the ensuing process of becoming a Vizard.
Personality
Chie is a woman who has lost her way. She was once a firm believer in Soul Society and its values but she has recently found some reason to doubt. Her unshakable faith is wavering and this has placed her in an odd position. She still works for and respects the Second Division but is becoming much more jaded and cynical. She once found joy and purpose in rooting out her foes but she has become more cold and distant questioning her motives.
That is not to say that Chie is a cold woman. Her personality could be summed up with that word: Aggressive. Chie is more than willing to get in someone’s face and tell them the error of their ways or point out a fact overlooked. Chie is the type of woman who pulls those around her into her own brand of rambunctious tomboy behavior. She is prone to showing her affection and happiness physically which basically means you can easily read her mood among friends by looking at her face and body language.
In combat or on a mission one would think a switch was flipped and Chie turns into a stoic fighter wholly dedicated to fighting or her goal. Her mind calms as she begins to get in the underlying rhythm of battle and her stances. She becomes increasingly happy as the challenge gets tougher since she enjoys testing her skill. She does, however, straddle a line in battle as the hollow within brings her lust for chaos and murder to the forefront of her mind. Underneath the calm and happy exterior of a fighting Chie is a beast barely held in check who threatens to tear down everything she has worked to gain thanks to the efforts of her inner hollow Chini.
In the realm opposite yet similar to fighting of romance Chie is usually the aggressor. If Chie has an attraction to someone she is more than willing to bring it up whether through flirting or teasing. Chie generally aims for women, seeing women as more graceful and beautiful, though she does not hold any great dislike for men. She is, strangely enough, a romantic at heart who still somehow holds on to the idea of a soul mate though she wonders who would be psychotic enough to settle down with a shinigami-hollow hybrid assassin.
History
Chie Yamanaka was born to a simple family. Chie was an only child who was raised with the intent to carry on the family business of cooking and running a store. She was brought up for years learning to cook but was ill suited to the act as a lifestyle. Chie quickly discovered she much preferred to be outside in the parks brawling and playing with the other boys.
Her parents, who eventually became resigned to their daughter’s wishes, began to get her mentors for her various hobbies in hopes she would discover her calling. She quickly found an affinity for the blade. She trained with numerous mentors over the course of years and learned sword styles from many of them.
Chie applied for the shinigami academy upon learning that the highest masters of the sword were captains in the Gotei 13 who guarded Soul Society. She succeeded on her second attempt to enter the academy. Once she was accepted she swiftly reached the top of her class in swordsmanship.
In her time at the academy she became enamored with the second division of the Gotei 13. She saw the silent shinigami as the pinnacle of fighting as opposed to the brute strength she felt the eleventh division personified in general. She trained with the goal of becoming one of the recruits who would join the ranks of the division of their choice.
She developed an aptitude for Hohō that, combined with her skill with a sword, made her a swift and deadly combatant. She began to mash together the style of her differing sword mentors both past and present into her own style of fighting which she dubbed gogyou no mai, or Dance of the Five Elements. This style of fighting utilized five different stances to react to different situations (Fire for concentrated offense, Wind for a constant unwavering assault, Water for a fluid changing defense, Earth for a unmoving wall of defense, and Void for a jack-of-all-trades role).
After graduation during her standard post-practice meditation she encountered her zanpakutō spirit. The conversation was short and could be summed up as a meeting between two skilled warriors agreeing to watch each other’s backs. The spirit refused to reveal her name until such a time as Chie proved herself worthy.
Chie joined the second division as soon as she possibly could and began, like many before her, in the position of a carrier. Her talent for flash stepping and her natural speed made her promising and she quickly rose from promising to proficient. She was tasked with defeating hollows who had been discovered before they could cause damage. Her talent with a blade and her ability to quickly finish hollows made her an optimal choice.
Once she had defeated a small number of hollows she was asked to spar with one of her fellow squad mates named Yuuichi. The fight was rather balanced at the start but Yuuichi unleashed his Shikai and took the upper hand. Chie fought valiantly but was slowly losing the battle before the voice of the spirit who would later be called Hime spoke.
"My name is shinku shoku no purinsesu and I would have you, Chie Yamanaka, wield a piece of my might since you have proven yourself worthy of the honor" the voice spoke within Chie. She was confused momentarily but she quickly regained her senses before she was struck by Yuuichi's sword. Chie held the name in her mind to dedicate it to memory before she called out the phrase that she felt, no knew, would awaken her Shikai.
"Sensou no honoo ni hi o tsukeru, shinku shoku no purinsesu" she yelled to the few gathered shinigami "Behold the might of the Crimson Princess." Chie's reiatsu surged as Hime's power and hers combined to create a new blade that was tempered in the heat of battle and still radiated with the consuming fires of combat.
Chie gained the upper hand with her superior knowledge and speed and gained not only her Shikai but a new friend in Yuuichi. They became close after the fight sparring regularly and saw each other as rivals. This friendly rivalry is what spurred Chie onward to higher ranks and missions but, indirectly, led to her downfall.
On a mission to exterminate a rogue shinigami who had been supposedly conducting experiments on the effects of hollowification alongside Yuuichi something went wrong. The shinigami they were hunting was not a shinigami at all but an arrancar. They had been set up to be used as guinea pigs. Yuuichi fought with vigor but was killed for his effort.
Chie was enraged at the death of Yuuichi and the knowledge that the squad had, in that moment, failed to provide her with the knowledge to escape the hell she saw before her as an Arrancars plaything. Hime could offer no more support than she already had and the reiatsu that Chie did have was mostly used. She reached deep within herself from something, some reserve of strength to rely upon in this desperate time.
As her eyesight faded under the repeated blows from the laughing arrancar Chie felt something snap. She heard a new voice that had always been there yet was always held at bay. The voice identified itself only as Chini and then promptly took control. Chie blacked out but from what she had been told later her inner hollow had mercilessly disarmed the arrancar and killed him slowly as he begged for mercy. The hollow had laughed as the arrancar died.
When Chie awoke and the mask shattered, she was standing with a blood covered blade next to the mutilated remains of the arrancar just as two squad mates arrived as back up. She had turned to them with mask shards still on her face in the process of falling off. They recoiled.
Chie was taken back to the fourth division for healing and she remained out of commission from a week as she recovered. When she was able to receive visitors she was met by a shinigami she did not recognize who informed her she was a new breed of shinigami hybrid called a Vizard, one with an inner hollow who was able to use the power of hollows to fight them. Chie was in denial despite the voice of Chini in her head telling not only was it real but that Chini would take control again and the bloodbath would be gorgeous.
Chie undertook a month of training and meditation in order to control her inner hollow. During this time she was watched over by one or two friends from her squad to ensure she did not cause any trouble. She fought battle after battle in her mind to keep Chini at bay and eventually she gained the first piece of control: Ensuring that Chini would no longer be able to take full control of her body.
This time was the first look at the other side of some shinigami. Chie had been well liked by many before her hollowification and yet after she became a Vizard she was treated differently by those who knew. Even those who were her friends still acted as if there was a chance Chie would go berserk at any moment. This side of Soul Society, the side that scorned those who were different, placed the seed of doubt in Chie's mind.
It was after gaining control over Chini that Chie was approached by a fellow member of Squad Two who offered a mission. This mission was to be secret and would require Chie’s full dedication. Chie had listened intently and quickly accepted it since it would put her in a state of isolation away from the shinigami who looked on her with disgust due to the hollow within.
Chie had recently become a Vizard and had been treated with some disdain by members of the Gotei 13 who were less tolerant of the hybrids. This made her a prime candidate for someone who would leave Soul Society and work for someone else. This put Chie, who was still loyal to her squad, in a unique position for intelligence gathering. Her mission was to go into Karakura town and gather information on the many active forces that seemed to gravitate to the area.
Chie was given a small apartment in the world of the living and was given a Gigai to move among the living. Her new identity had a job as a janitor at Karakura High, which possess a number of spiritually aware humans. And thus Chie Yamanaka became a citizen of Karakura under the pseudonym Yukiko Hagimura.

Zanpakutō

Name: sensou no megami
Translation Goddess of War
Unreleased Appearance
The blade is a long 60 cm katana whose blade kept at a shine. The hilt of the blade is gold and black intertwined with a black circular cross guard. The sheath is a standard black with no distinguishing features. Currently the blade is kept in its sheath and is left in Chie’s apartment whenever she is not actively hunting hollows or training.
--------------------
Zanpakutō Spirit
--------------------
Name: shinku shoku no purinsesu - Lit. Crimson Princess
Gender: Female
Spirit Appearance
Hime, as she is called by her master, is a tall woman with a mane of red hair that flows down her back. Hime has brilliant blue eyes to counter the red of her hair and the light tan of her skin. Her body is hidden behind shining plate armor alongside her great sword though underneath the armor she is just as good looking as Chie herself.
Personality
Hime is the personification of Chie’s joy in battle. She is ever ready for a challenge and is extremely prideful. Hime holds herself as the best swordswoman to ever grace a blade with her hands. Her arrogance transfers to her general attitude and she will actively throw herself in battle for even the slightest poke at her honor.
Relationship to Master
Hime is willing to impart her skill with a blade upon Chie who she is on good terms with. Chie respects Hime’s skill and the both hold each other’s talent in high esteem. This creates the basis for their unity in combat. When Shikai is activated Hime and Chie become in sync and, as a result, they have a deep understanding unique to those bonds made in the heart of battle.
Inner World
The world inhabited by Hime is a castle of vast proportions with a battlefield still blazing just outside its gates. It features a wide courtyard full of practice swords and numerous training dummies. The castle’s inside is sparsely decorated and looks as if no one has lived there for years. The practice blades in the courtyard vary in size, shape, and even general designs to encompass almost every known sword style. Hime is nearly always found in the courtyard practicing her combat skills and it is there that Chie appears when she enters the world though on occasion they meet on the walls of the castle overlooking the war zone just outside.
--------------------
Inner Hollow
--------------------
Name: chi ni - Lit. Bloodlust
Gender: Female
Appearance
Chini is a being shrouded in a dark mist punctuated by glowing red eyes. Her form is exactly like Chie's except seems to be insubstantial and made of mist. Chini's mouth appears as a slash of red light in a psychotic grin most of the time. If the mist goes down or Chini chooses to manifest in clothes she wears a suit of black so deep in reflects no light.
Personality
If Hime is the representative of Chie's desire for combat then Chini is that desire taken to the extreme. Chini exists purely as an engine of war and chaos. She wishes to kill all of her foes and utterly destroy the confidence of every warrior she faces. She is arrogant and extremely condescending believing not only is she the best but the blood of her enemies that stains her blade proves it.
Relationship to Master
Chini, as stated, believes herself far and away better than her host and will attempt to wrest control from Chie in the middle of battle. There is open hostility between the two who currently sit in a state of equilibrium. Chini does not have the power to get full control but Chie can barely hold Chini in check enough to don her mask without losing control.

Hollow Abilities
--------------------
Mask Appearance and Summoning
To summon her mask Chie places her zanpakutō directly in front of her face in between her eyes. She then swings the blade in a half circle and the mask appears as the sword swings in front of her face then covers the face completely. The mask itself is an oval that covers the face. It features narrowed eye slits so that Chie can see and a psychotic grin where the mouth should be. The mask is colored black and gold with jagged stripes of red appearing on it with no pattern discernible. Chie can only maintain the mask for twenty seconds at present due to her inexperience.
Hollow Abilities
Cero
- Description of Attack - Focusing her reiatsu into her left palm Chie can fire a crimson beam that inflicts intense damage to those caught in its path.
- Limitation - The Cero takes three seconds to fully charge and then must be aimed. The Cero is effective to a maximum range of 60 feet though it is optimal in a 30 foot range (In 30-60 foot range the opponent is treated as if they are one tier above normal).
2 Tiers Below: The Cero will inflict great wounds that may potentially cause lasting damage beyond scars if they happen to hit a vital spot or joint though this is unlikely. This level of damage will cause the foe to be stunned for around a half a second.
1 Tier Below: The Cero will inflict decent wounds that may cause some post-healing scars if Chie gets a lucky shot. This will leave a foe dazed for a small period of time averaging two seconds or less.
Equal: The Cero will inflict wounds that are not lasting but will cause pain until healed. A foe will likely be momentarily dazed just after being hit.
1 Tier Above: The Cero will inflict some wounds though none will be more than a source of annoyance. A foe may be dazed for a moment after impact but this will pass too quickly for a full attack to take place.
2 Tiers Above: The Cero will inflict shallow wounds that will do almost nothing in the long run. The Cero will not daze at all and will leave the foe more than likely unfazed.
The cost of the Cero is 35% of Chie's reiatsu.
riyuu no nayami no tane - Lit. Bane of Reason
- Description of Attack - Much like the seirei no joou no odori stance used by Chie in Shikai, riyuu no nayami no tane calls on the knowledge and prowess of Chini who grants it alongside temporary insanity. This style of fighting must be invoked by Chie before this state is granted. Riyuu no nayami no tane makes Chie ignore pain as well as make her moves completely different. While under the influence of Chini Chie's combat style shifts from disciplined and controlled to erratic and unpredictable lending Chie a hand against foes that focuses on reading their opponent to win. Chie will also become surrounded by dark mist seemingly just above the skin making her appearance closer to Chini's.
- Limitation - This style lasts only as long as the mask is on after being actively invoked by calling out the techniques name. The mask's eyes and mouth will glow red when this technique is active to tip the foe off that this is in use. Chie cannot use any techniques that require focus or thought (i.e. Kido, Shikai abilities, etc. with the exception of Cero). Other than the unpredictability, this technique is similar to seirei no joou no odori except Chie effectively becomes a berserker instead of a pillar of stoic might.
After Chie loses her mask and this technique ends she becomes utterly drained since this style of combat pushes her body to its full limits. Chie will be unable to manifest Shikai and will only be able to fight at half strength.
--------------------
Zanpakutō Shikai
--------------------
Call Out Phrase: sensou no honoo ni hi o tsukeru, shinku shoku no purinsesu
Translation Ignite the Flames of War, Crimson Princess
Shikai Appearance
Chie's blade glows with a brilliant light and the blade itself turns into a nodachi that is 70 cm long. The hilt expands and inverts the color scheme making the hilt more gold than black. The blade itself becomes a source of intense heat that causes the air to ripple like a mirage. The sword itself shimmers as if permanently polished to a perfect shine.
Shikai Abilities
tenka - Lit. Ignition
- Description of Attack - Drawing on the power of the Crimson Princess Chie channels the heat of her blade and creates a burst of flames that detonates on impact. The flames come in the form of a flaming sheath for the Shikai.
- Type - Offensive
- Range - Melee
- Limitation - This burst of flames is limited to an area in front of Chie in the path the blade was swung. If it hits something in that arc the flaming sheath erupts in an explosive blast. If nothing is hit the blade remains covered in flame though it costs reiatsu to keep active. This blast can knock a foe back and does damage depending on the tier of the opponent.
2 Tiers Below: The erupting flames will cause painful burns. These burns will cause pain on movement that will slow a foe by a minor degree or, at best, may cause an arm or leg to have a restricted range of motion in addition to the small knock back that the eruption of flames will do.
1 Tier Below: The flames will cause somewhat painful burns alongside a knock back cause from the burst of flames.
Equal: The flames will burn the foe to a degree that will cause some pain on movement, though nothing that will inhibit movement unless the foe has an abnormally low threshold for pain, and will knock the foe off balance.
1 Tier Above: The flames will possibly cause minor burns but with no knock back or unbalancing.
2 Tiers Above: The flames will, at best, cause extremely minor burns or clothing damage and, at worst, simply warm them up.
This technique costs 10% of her reiatsu per burst of flames or for every fifteen seconds the sword is fully covered in fire.
seirei no joou no odori- Lit. Dance of the Elemental Queen
- Description of Attack - Calling upon the knowledge and power of the Crimson Princess Chie enters a state of harmony with her zanpakutō spirit. This state allows Chie to shrug off the pain of blows and fight on despite wounds that might otherwise debilitate her as well as granting her such knowledge that she becomes able to switch between the various fighting styles she was trained in during her youth making her very unpredictable since she no longer is using just her personal gagyou no mai. She knows around three other styles beyond her own gagyou no mai with the theoretical potential to add more if she had the time/mentor to teach her a new one.
The three styles of combat that she knows are as follows:
kage no te (Hand of Shadows) - A sword style that uses the blade in a reverse grip, that is to say holds the blade against the arm with the edged side facing away from the arm. This style focuses mostly on unpredictability thanks to the positioning of the sword being radically different from most other styles of combat.
ichi sen katto (One Thousand Cuts) - This style is focused on agile and acrobatic movement to deliver constant pressure to a foe. Chie will use her speed to flip and slash from every possible angle as fast as possible in order to inflict as many wounds letting the enemy die from repeated strikes rather than decisive blows, thus the name One Thousand Cuts.
kettou eregansu (Duelists Elegance) - This style holds the blade much like a fencer would hold a sabre. This style is focused on thrusts and parries and uses Chie's speed and prowess to move past her foes defenses and land a decisive strike.- Type - Stance/Style
- Range - Self
- Limitation - This state of focus essentially grants Chie access to more of Hime's talent and knowledge. This grants her a state of focus that allows her to persevere through pain that would otherwise incapacitate her (though this does NOT mean she can use an arm that is disabled/broken for example) and also allows her to effortlessly switch into totally different styles of sword based combat. She loses the ability to do any Kido at all in this state though she rarely uses Kido other than some simple fire based kidō. This costs her 10% of her reiatsu per half minute due to the strain of keeping such intense focus and a deep connection to her zanpakutō spirit.

Chie stood at the corner of two streets in Karakura. The wind blew and ruffled her hair as she waited to cross the road. Her mind was sharp despite the faraway look she had positioned across her face. This town was full of spiritually potent beings to meet and she had only lived here for a month so far.
Her day job as a janitor at the high school was so boring compared to her duties as a shinigami she almost cried once. She crossed the street as she headed toward her small home. Working as a janitor though put her in a position to observe the students with impunity. She felt like a few of them were spiritually aware but she was not going to just walk up to them and say “Hey, you don’t know me but you should tell me about how you see spirits and have superpowers.” She arrived at her destination and found someone outside the door to her apartment.
“Good to see you’re doing well” said the woman with no hint of a smile. Chie nodded as she unlocked the door and walked into her home. This woman was here to keep tabs on her and receive her updates on the people of Karakura. Sitting down on the couch in the living room Chie motioned for the other woman to take a seat.
“I suppose doing well is an adequate enough description” Chie grinned. She continued to report on the various individuals she suspected of being spiritually aware and powerful enough to manifest a power of some sort or another. The woman, whose name Chie had never asked, listened intently and then closed the notebook she had written in before informing her of the basic goings on back in Soul Society.
“This will be our last meeting like this Yamanaka, here” she had a pen in her hand. Seeing Chie’s questioning gaze the woman spoke again “This is a pen will record whatever you write and transfer it to us directly in Soul Society.” There was a look of sadness for only a second before Chie removed it from her face. She had liked knowing of what was going on in Seireitei even if it was only tidbits of knowledge from her handler as it were.
As the door slammed shut behind the only remaining link to Soul Society Chie twirled the pen in her hand. She looked blankly off into space as she thought of the ramifications of her utter freedom. She placed the pen in a drawer and began to cook something to eat. A smile slowly crept onto her face as she realized fully that she was now able to fully throw herself into finding out exactly what being a Vizard meant without the constant threat of Gotei 13 intervention.
“This is going to be a long and interesting journey” Chie said to no one but the spirits in her head.
