With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Konan Shirosaki was a Quincy. Or so she had just found out the day before, from her soon-to-be teacher, Roy Dylandy. He had informed her of the many things in the life of a Quincy, and had agreed to teach her.
At his request, she was at the high school waiting for him. She had heard, from the gossiping women at her work, that Mr. Dylandy was quite the ladies man, and that he was a teacher at the school. That certainly would explain why she was supposed to wait there.
She stood at her car, leaning on the door, in the parking lot. She was dressed in her usual attire of a long red dress, with long black boots. She had gotten her nails done a week ago, and thankfully it wasn't sooner. She was sure that they'd easily be destroyed during the training.
She kicked a stone, as she wondered how intense the training would be. Would he take it easy on her, because of her gender? Or rather, be tougher on her, just to push her to the limit.
She took out her Quincy cross from the confines of her dress and admired it. It truly was spectacular, how it shone in the light. The pentagram on the cross, and it radiated with power.
"My hidden power..." she thought to herself.
She had no idea where that thought could've came from, but deep in her soul, she knew it was true in her soul.
She put the cross back, and took out her next piece of jewelry. It was a beautiful teardrop necklace, given to her by her lover, Nagase. It truly was beautiful, and fit her wonderfully. She sunk it back in her shirt, and waited, as she grew impatient.
Once again, Roy had neglected his paperwork. The only difference this time, he had a good reason. With the baby on the way, Roy's mind had been else where, especially with Makana on leave. He had to think about work and forced himself finish. Looking at the clock, he realized that his new 'student' would certainly be here.
Giving Toshioni the day off, surly the boy needed it after the military grade training Roy put him through, he headed down stairs, and out the door. There she was, in a red dress and high black boots. Not his choice for training clothes, but to each their own. The elder Quincy wore an untocked blue dress shirt, sleeves unbutton, and the top button loose. His kaki pants matched well with the shirt as he carried his leather jacket over his shoulder.
"Oi, Konan-san." He waved at her as he walked over to greet her. As he approached her, he noticed what looked like a second chain around her neck. It may just be his imagination.
Roy finally made it to her, conveniently she parked near his Harley. "Let me get something from a saddlebag and we'll head to the training area." With that, he headed to his bike to get some things from the saddlebag. Pulling out two of his Seele Schneiders, Roy headed back to Konan as he put them in his belt loop.
Konan was seriously losing her patience now. The man had told her to come to the High School, yet he wasn't there yet. She could've planned it better than he did.
With a sigh, she looked up into the sky and began to think about the hollow Nagase and her had defeated. She hadn't done that bad, but she really needed improvement.
Finally, the man called her name. She smiled and waved at the man. She knew that he'd be questioning her attire, but it was flexible. She'd be able to move quicker than she could in anything else.
He went and grabbed somethings from his bag, as he had said he would, and then walked back to her.
"So, where is exactly that we're going? And the type of training?" she inquired, with her curious nature popping out.
"So, where is exactly that we're going? And the type of training?"
Her curiosity would lead to an answer shortly, but as she suspected, Roy did question her attire. "Firstly, are you really sure that's what you're wearing?" He motioned to the dress, the boots he can deal with. If she wanted to wear it, that's fine by him. "I mean, whatever you're comfortable in, but I'm not buying you a new dress."
Roy laughed under his breath as he leisurly walked away toward the school. He was sure that Konan wasn't ready for his forest training, so he got the janitor to allow him to use the gym.
After he held the door for her, Roy entered the school, and led her down the halls. The school was empty, but some after school clubs were having meetings. He could smell the cooking class from here. With a cringed nose and a face of horror, Roy could tell that Yue was making something new for the club. Luckily he wasn't in charge of that club or he would have to try some of her 'latest master piece'.
After a few turns, he headed down the stairs the led to the gyms. He knew that the basketball team didn't train today and the other teams were out for a game. "Ok, I set up a little obstacle course for you." As he said that, he opened the gym doors and revealed what he called a 'little' obstacle course.
The tires from the soccer team and hurdles were set up along the indoor track area. He had help from some students setting up the twelve foot monkey bars in front of the rock wall for a none stop exercise. Roy brought in some of his old archery equipment as well, having placed them near where he had the targets set up. The targets varied in size, some being as large as a tire while others were as small as an apple.
The smile on his face showed that Roy was proud of his work. Arms on his hips, Roy looked at it like it was a master piece, his very own Arc de Triomphe. "I'd recommend you stretch first." Given Konan a smile while his eyes were closed, he couldn't see what ever face she was making. He was positive she was happy at his work, heaven knows he is.
She laughed, a rather light, yet hearty laugh. He had no idea of what she was capable of, with her dress. She could move way better then most could. She could run, jump, do flips, and even fight with it. It was her ultimate battle attire, but everyone underestimated her for it.
"Haha, you'd be surprise, Dylandy-sama." she answered, with a grin.
He mentioned not buying her a new dress, and she stuck her tongue out at him. She wouldn't need one, but she didn't know that. The dress was a present from her parents, who had enfused their reiatsu into it.
She walked quietly with him, to the gym. In a proud tone, he mentioned how this was her obstacle course. She grinned, she had envisioned some grueling stuff, and that was not it. She began stretching, and yawning a little.
"Let's get rollin'!" she said, happily, but mostly to herself.
She took off on the tires first, making sure to hit everyone, before she ran to the hurdles. Man she hoped that she didn't fall!
She was going to wear the dress?! So long as other people don't think he was doing this to just watch, he was fine. Makana was informed about his students, he never kept a thing like that away from her. If she found out any other way, he'd be dead by night fall no doubt. No, she would keep him alive, just so she can milk all the child support from his veins.
"Let's get rollin'!"
His attention was brought back to Konan now, she was done stretching.
Roy watched as Konan started her training, she started off pretty good. The obstacle course was just the beginning though, once she got through the course once, she'll have to run it again with weights. Some good old fashion endurance training never hurt anyone.
When she reached the hurdles, he had pulled out a stop watch to time her. She was making decent time, but it would be better if she picked it up. "Pick up the pace, we don't have all day." He shouted out to her as he observed her movements. To someone else, it might appear that he was checking her out, but he was looking for something hidden.
Signs where she will need to work on, such as speed or accuracy. He'll improve where ever she lack so she can preform better down the road. He did have to admit, that dress wasn't hindering her as he thought it would.
She knew he'd mention something about the damn tires, but she was trying not to fall straight on her face by moving too fast through them. He mentioned not having all day, and she sighed. She ran and jumped over the hurdles, only hitting the tops of two of them. She stopped for a few seconds at the monkey bars.
"Fuck!" she cursed, to herself. She had little to no upper arm strength.
Despite this, she jumped up, and began crossing. Halfway through, her strength gave out, and she began to plummet. Landing on her feet would cause serious problems, but so would anwhere else. She had ittle options, so she tucked her body in, and rolled. It was successful, but rugged.
She went to the start, and this time, she went across alternating between her legs, and her hands. Flipping the whole way through, she made it to the rock wall and stopped.
"You want my to go up, or down?" she yelled, confused?
He didn't even give her any directions for this god damned jungle gym, yet he expected her to just go through like she knew everything, and had done it all before. She shot him an irritated look, as she waited, impatient.
She would do it multiple times, she needed to get stronger, faster, better. She looked around, and finally noticed the archery equipment. She took a deep breath, that would be the area where she had the most trouble.
She had terrible aim, and the only times she had killed a hollow where when it made her mad enough to send a volley of arrows. Precision was her weak spot, and he'd learn that soon enough.
She hit the hurdles, noting that her jumping was alright, but needed work. Then she stopped, cursed, and started cross the monkey bars. Yeah, the bars were hard for those who lacked upper body strength, but she'll have to get through it somehow. He sighed under his breath as she fell to the ground, noting this for further training practice. She should be lucky he didn't give her the weights.
Roy was a bit surprised at her display of creativity. Flipping through the monkey bars like, well, a real monkey. He couldn't help but smirk at this display of athleticism. But she stopped at the wall and looked confused.
He didn't think he'd have to explain what to do with a rock wall, but sometimes you just had to. "Up of course. Then down. Once you're done, run it again." He'll have her run it a few more times, just so her body would understand what was going to happen in these coming training sessions.
It would be some time before she finished enough laps around the course before they hit the archery range. She was lucky Roy was teaching her this, he excelled at accuracy. His Father trained him in the bow and arrow, making Roy think that he was training him to fight Hollows. If only he could have the chance to ask him, but it was too late for that. After wards, the army trained him to be the best sniper around and that would come into play as well.
She smirked as he instructed her how to complete the rock wall. Climbing wasn't a problem, she could rely on her lower body strength to get her where she needed. She began climbing slowly, careful not to fall for a second time, before she went faster. She reached the top within a few minutes, before she began scurrying down.
She didn't look at him to realize that she needed to go again. So she ran, and headed straight for the tires. Going through them faster was going to be a major problem, but she managed the best that she could while still rushing through. The hurdles had become easier, and she merely adjusted her height as she jumped. This time around, she only clipped the top of one.
She screamed fuck, as she stared the monkey bars down. This was her biggest problem. Her innovation was fine, and dandy, however she needed to work on her upper arm strength.
"Although technically, the alternation is still working my arms..." she thought to herself, before getting onto it again.
Again, she started with her hands, and then brought her legs up to the bars. She then swung, and grabbed the next one. Through this process of swinging, she finished it faster. And this time, with no plummet. She reached the rock wall, and, over zealous, began to speed to the top. She nearly slipped, but got a tight grip at the last second.
Exhaling with a sigh of relief, she started her descend to the bottom. She looked to Roy, to see if her time had improved any, for her second time.
She certainly did not like the monkey bars, but she had her own way of doing them. Not his way, but to each their own. Roy observed how she managed to complete it faster this time around, that would do for now. He waved her to come over, a smirk across his face.
As she approached, he put his hands on his hips before he started to talk. "You did good. I can tell where we'll need to focus on in the weeks to come, but all in all, great job." He patted her on the shoulder once she got close to him.
Next was the archery part of the training and waved to her to follow him to the range he set up. Once there, he picked up a bow and placed a quiver of arrows by his leg. "Archery, the basic understanding of shooting a target from a distance. It's an ancient art form developed in many cultures." He started to explain as he drew an arrow from the quiver.
Placing the arrow in the string of the bow, he drew it back while pointing down to avoid accidents. He really didn't need to worry about that from his own drawing, but he wanted Konan to follow this why until she was comfortable drawing straight. "The shaft of the arrow must always be straight, so you can get a good aim at your target." He brought up the bow, the very end of the arrow right next to his nose. The muscles in his arms were flexed, evident of how many times he has done this.
"You must remain completely calm, no matter the situation when you are aiming. If you need to move," In a swift and fluidic motion, Roy squatted to one knee, rolled to the right, and came back to one knee with the arrow drawn once more. "Then do so without losing your target." Releasing his fingers, the arrow sprung to life as it shot at incredible speed toward the smallest target, but he missed. Or at least, that's what the untrained eye would think.
Walking over, he pulled the arrow from the large target. On the very tip was a horse fly, pierced by the Roy's arrow. "As a Quincy, accuracy is keen. If you stick to it, you'll get as good as me." He handed the bow to Konan and allowed her to take her first shot. He would watch carefully this one time to get an idea of how she may draw her 'bow'. After this, he'll give her pointers on how to better aim and shoot.
