With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

He realized too late that those ankle weights weren't helping in this fight, they were for training, but in an actual fight they only slowed him down. His knee grabbed and shoved out of the way he spun a little, but found himself still face to face with the arrancar as she sonidoed before him. Then she grabbed his arm and tossed him, and Mikhail had a slight case of deja vu, being thrown across the park like that. He hit the ground and rolled pushing up on his arms to another crouching position this time he reached down feigning a hurt leg and undid the ankle weights from around his leg.
There was a small grunt as he got them off as inconspicuously as possible before he nodded and said.
"I'll show you how good he is."
He looked like he was getting up but from a sprinters starting position charged the arrancar. A slight bit faster but still human. depending on how observant Smuii was she might see the two black straps of ankle weights laid out on the grass as he charged. Mikhail got close enough and lept and kicked out with his left foot, then right in a quick motion.

Samuii's eyebrows raised ever so slightly as Mikhail suddenly became faster. Not fast enough as she was, obviously, but faster, for a human. That was an improvement, but what did he do to get more speed? As far as she knew, humans had no form of sonido or shunpo to make them faster.
She sidestepped to avoid the left kick, and held her right arm out so that the other kick would hit her forearm. Her hierro was strong enough that the impact of the kick was greatly reduced, but she did notice something else.
"You're lighter," she remarked, flinging her arm out. She figured out by now that Mikhail was lighter due to some sort of weights, or rather, the lack of it. But before the leg could get too far, she reached out and grabbed it with her right arm, pulling it, along with the rest of his body, towards her. With her free hand, she aimed a straight punch to the gut. If she had put her full strength behind the punch, she was sure that a hole would me made if it hit. But she didn't want to end the fight so soon; she was having a frigging blast.

He kicked out with both feet, and even faster they were dodged and blocked. His grin quickly vanishing as she grabbed his right foot in midair and he was roughly yanked towards her. He probably would've remarked on her comment, except that as she pulled him forward she punched into his stomach. Doubling over as he flew back and hit the ground, he let out a whoosh of air and coughed once or twice tasting a little blood.
He stood up slowly with one hand on his covering where he was hit, rising up and into a fighting stance again. It appeared that he was done with the jokes and looked quite serious and focused after that hit. A cold wind whipped through the air and tussled his hair as he raised his fists again. Suddenly the smallest spike in spiritual energy around him, beginning as the grass under his feet and for a few inches around them started to develop a frost across the blades of grass.
This had just started happening recently, and he wasn't even really aware he was doing it. His breathing normalized again and he rushed her once more. This time came a quick right jab and was followed by a left uppercut and a faster right, side kick. Even dodged, blocked, or caught it was apparent that there was a just the smallest amount of power behind them but it was unfocused, he had some kind of power but was unable to really control it. Instead, each strike had a kind of chilly aura, dodged it would feel like a cold breeze rushed past, blocked or caught he was cold to the touch, but there was no extra damage aside from the blow itself if they hit.

When Mikhail got up from the punch, Samuii narrowed her eyes. Something was wrong. His reiatsu was rising. Looking at his feet ever so slightly, she noticed that the grass looked stiff, as if it was frozen. But it was in the middle of spring. That means the cold was coming from him.
Good. Looks like he was going to take this serious. She should too. But she hated the cold.
He rushed towards her, and when he did so, she noticed another slight spike in reiatsu. As she tilted her head to avoid the jab, her cheek felt a cool spot in the air. She stepped back and doged the uppercut, feeling the same cold feeling on her face. She hadn't felt coldness in such a long time that the sensation distracted her enough that the kick had slipped past and made contact with the side of her stomach.
She stumbled to the side a little, her hierro taking the brunt of the attack. But her mind wasn't concerned about the kick.
It was cold. His foot was cold to the touch.
"Looks like you landed a hit," she said, straightening, "You won't be that lucky next time. Didn't I tell you that I hate cold?"
To prove her point, Samuii opened her mouth, charged and blasted a teal cero.

His punches missed with a whooshing pass but the kick landed and actually budged her, but the satisfaction of landing a hit was short lived. Mikhail had never seen a cero before now, all he knew was that as Samuii's mouth opened energy gathered that seemed to suck the light and energy away before blasting forth in a teal colored beam. Barely seconds to react at the ominous charging, his hands lifted in the same way they had reacted to Lilith's incoming Zanpakuto with palms facing out. He dove to the side and as he did his mind focused and teeth clenched in concentration as the blast passed over him.
When it cleared he was laying on the ground, gasping, singed, and burnt in many places. Clothing in tatters around his shoulders and lower legs and what was left of a half melted disk-like shield of ice laying on the ground in front of him that took the blunt of the blast even as he tried to get out of the way. With a grunt of pain his fingers twitched and eyes opened palm digging into the scorched grass and dirt to push himself up to glare at Samuii.
He was scratched up, bleeding, and burnt, but you had to admit the kid was tough as all hell to even start to pick himself up after taking a cero at that range. Even all his years of getting into fights with others was little preparation for that. He didn't look good at all and his movements were slower.
Come on Mikhail, get up! He repeated in his mind but everything hurt so much.
He coughed again as the blast felt like it sucked away all the air around him.
"Why,... attack people?" He finally asked Samuii, as he managed to drag himself up to one knee.

Samuii was both shocked and impressed. Not only did this kid take a cero in such a short distance, but he survived it too. Granted, she knew he wasn't going to be fighting anytime soon, but just surviving her cero was pretty damn impressive.
She began walking towards him as he staggered up to his knee. She saw a glint from the corner of her eye, so she turned her head and glanced down. An ice sheild? This kid had powers? And they were ice-based too. Just lovely.
She heard his question, and couldn't help but chuckle. Why did she hurt people? Well, the long answer was that she didn't really know what else to do. She was an arrancar, former hollow, and that meant her existance was really only to kill. Give her some credit though; she doesn't work for Aizen. In fact, she saved a few shinigami from death in the past. That counts for something, right? But she didn't feel like telling him the long answer, so he'd have to make do with the short one.
"Why do I hurt people?" she asked again, walking towards the kid, "Because I can." she answered, stopping when she was right in front of him. She stepped on the ice sheild, causing whatever remained of it to shatter. "Now, you answer my question," bending down slightly, she gripped the collar of his shirt and hoisted him up to her eye level, "What do you live for? Make it a good answer, because your life now depends on it."

Finally pushed up to one knee, everything ached, more then when he climbed that 100' cliff side, or ran or exercised for hours in order to improve as much as he could each week. Hazel eyes raising slowly as Samuii's shadow fell over him. She had stepped closer and glared down at him, he knew she was stronger but he wouldn't, no, couldn't give up. Mikhail frowned and grimaced at her answer to his question. It figures that Samuii was just another bully, and he hated bullies. He could hear Lilith's words in the back of his mind once again. 'You really think everyone you fight will be as nice as Samyeru...'
A crunch and snap as she stepped on what was left the shield that had barely protected him, then reached down and hoisted him up by his collar, causing a new wave of pain as he seemed to hang there limply. Slightly surprised by the question posed to him. What did he live for? He tilted his head so he could look at Samuii. After an answer like, because I can, could he really be led to believe that she would let him live if he had a good answer, somehow he doubted it but he gave his response anyway.
His answer was broken and pained.
"I live, so I can become, stronger,...in order to protect others, and those I care about,...from people like you."
His eyes changed quickly, for just a second the hazel color shining an icy blue, then back. That pained expression replaced with a defiant stare, as with a slight crisp sound, his right hand tightly grasped the icicle like dagger that had formed there. Brought up to eye level it would be near impossible to have noticed. The dagger striking out with just about every ounce of strength he had left. He couldn't expect those he fought to play nice, so if he had to fight dirty too then so be it!

Samuii said nothing as Mikhail said his answer. It was a predictable response for those feisty humans. She'd heard things along those lines before, and was not the least bit fazed. It was always 'I'm going to kill you' or 'I'm going to protect my friends'...things like that. Seriously, could these humans get any less creative?
But before she could say anything, something flew her way. It was too close to properly block or dodge, so she turned her head as the dagger passed, giving some of her hair a nice, clean trim. Before Mikhail could do something else with the dagger, Samuii took her free hand and grabbed his hand at the wrist.
She had to hand it to him. Kid was persistant.
"Any more tricks up your sleeves?" she asked in a monotone. "Any more ice up there or something? I still haven't decided on whether I should kill you yet or not. You keep distracting me."

Predictable maybe, but Mikhail thought it sounded heroic, he struggled to free his hand to hit Samuii but he couldn't break her grasp. The dagger gleamed in the sun but was already starting to melt It was so draining to create and maintain any shape. His breathing was heavy, still bleeding and burned, and things were starting to get a little blurry, all his strength put behind that last swing and that was effortlessly avoided.
His left hand slowly lifted when she asked if there were any more tricks up his sleeve. It looked like he was gonna swing again but instead, with knuckles turning white he tightly grabbed ahold of Samuii's scarf and wouldn't let go. Speaking of distracting, that was probably downright annoying. With a last sharp, hard, yank he tried to tear a small piece of it away before everything started to go dark. At least this way he would have something to show Samyeru. Probably even more aggravating was that after he did that, he smiled slightly, but it was pretty clear he didn't have anything left, the spike of spiritual energy faded.
He was starting not to make any sense.
"That was fun, ...lets do it again..."

Samuii let him have the scarf, or rather, the piece of it that he managed to rip off. It was a shame though; she liked that scarf. But she decided to let him grab a little trophy of sorts to remember her by. Maybe even push him to get stronger, whatever worked.
"Heh. Fine then. I'll let you live." she said, lowering her arm and dropping him onto the grass, "You're an interesting kid. Next time, get stronger, so I can kick your ass harder."
With another grin, Samuii Verano disappeared in the familiar static of a sonido.
