With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
She smirked and looked away, as if she was bored. Out the corner of her eyes, however, she was watching him with a severe intensity. No way was he going to make her look like a fool.
As he ran toward her, like a savage, she tensed up with her Zanpakuto horizontally in front of her. When she thought he was going to collide with her blade, she heard a swooshing sound and looked up.
Pft, as if that would work.
As he was descending she lifted her sword up in an attempt to parry his sword, and swung her foot out in an attempt to kick him to the side.
"Don't expect me to be an easy opponent!" she cried, in a fury
Aki came down with all of his weight, the tip of his blade slamming into the flat side of hers and her foot came around with relative ease. She would likely see his emeralds glance to it, but he made no intention of seeming to dodge. As she struck him he rolled with the blow to help negate some of the force.
Rolling to her left, his sword came around at the same time, this time intent on cleaving her in two. His fighting style seemed to be brute force, and whether or not he truly cared what happened to him remained to be seen.
Whether or not the slash hit, though, he lunged back in, this time with his free hand shooting out in an attempt to grab hold of her face. From the lunge, it was likely he merely intended to drive her back into the ground.
"C'mon lady! At least gimme your name if you're gonna fight me!"
Veronica staggered as his weight was put into the sword, but thankfully her kick connected and she was able to relieve the force that was there. Maybe she was the one underestimating him.
He rolled to her left and his sword came swinging around. She freaked for a second before she jumped, with the blade connecting with the top of her ankle. She used her Sonido to quickly move out his range, when he tried to slam her into the ground. She cried out in pain and landed on the floor, before she started staring at her blood.
Laughing, she licked it off of her hands and then gripped her sword. Her nodachi held behind her right shoulders with both hands, was swung overhead as she ran to the man. When she got close enough, she also pointed to his sword.
"Bala!" she cried as the hazel burst of energy was shot forward.
"C'mon lady! At least gimme your name if you're gonna fight me!"
She laughed more, and answered after she settled down.
"Veronica Dos-Santos, the last name you will ever hear." she declared with a brilliant smile.
When she leaped back, he noted the trail of blood before she Sonido'd out of reach. He let his hand fall to his side, the blade coming to rest against his shoulder. "Hm. Seems you bleed just as easy as anyone else. Good to know."
When she started running at him, his grin widened. "Yeah, that's right! Let's rock!"
His sword came from his shoulder and he braced himself, but when she stopped and fired a Bala he raised a brow. Of course, that was all he had time to do before it slammed into him, sending him careening backwards and into the wall of the building directly behind him. He grumbled as he pushed himself up right, coughing somewhat. It didn't hurt that bad, but still...he made a mental note. Bala equals fast. It didn't pack as much of a wallop as he imagined her cero did, but it still had enough force to plow him through a wall. Mentally shrugging off wondering how much multiple would hurt he listened to her name.
"Veronica...Veronica...," he mumbled her name as he got to his feet. As he hoped out of the entrance way he made with his body, he rubbed the back of his neck. He didn't look too roughed up, but the bala showed. His black leather jacket was white with the dust from the rock of the building and drywall. His white shirt was cut in several places from the explosion. His right temple was red from her kick, but he grinned nonetheless.
"That was dirty V," he replied before he raised his blade directly up. A faint sheen shown on the blade before it brightened--and quickly.
"LENS FLARE," he roared, causing the bright light to intensify immensely, with the intent on leaving her blind. It wouldn't last long, but it'd suffice for what he intended. He waited only a second, to see if she would sonido before he shunpo'd to her. When he appeared it was with an abrupt stop, his foot whipping around with all his force and the inertia of the shunpo in an attempt to kick her square in the stomach. If it connected, it would have been with his shin, the basic intent to send her hurling away as she had him.
"Ugh, shut up. That shot was pure luck, and you know that as well as I do!" she growled at the cocky man.
As her bala crashed into him and sent him flying, she couldn't help but release a giggle. The crunch of his body against the building, the intake of air as he felt the impact of her blast.
It was all to die for! However, like she knew, he got back up as if nothing had happen. She was hoping for some tears, maybe a little blood. Oh well.
As he stepped out from the rubble, he called her name twice and nicknamed her V. Who the hell did the man think he was, to talk to her like that? Frowning she watched as he rubbed his neck, and assessed his body. Pretty good lucking, but she imagined it looked even better being pulled apart. The frown went away, as quickly as it came, and her routine smile was back into place.
For that brief moment, at least.
"LENS FLARE," was all she heard before everything went black.
Well, not literally. The light cascaded off of everything, she was blinded and stumbling about.
Curse y-" she called out, before she was interrupted.
His foot connected with her stomach and with a rather loud "whoosh" a large breath of air left her body. She was flung backwards, as he was only moments ago, and hit the wall of a building with a rather loud smash. As brick and dust fell around her, she clutched her stomach while she got up. She coughed a few times, and resisted the urge to throw up.
Shakily, she grabbed her Zanpakuto and got ready for her counter attack. She was still a bit woozy from the large man's attack, and decided to wait and see if he'd continue the assault before she went on offense.
As he kicked her and she went careening away, Akihiko landed lightly on the ground. He gave a small 'hm" and impaled his sword into the ground next to him.
"Booya bitch," he said lowly, mostly to himself before he rotated his neck a second time. He waited a second as he heard her rummaging around. As he did this, he had raised his left hand and was digging in his ear. Producing his finger he inspected it before flicking it, despite having nothing on it. It was then this same hand was placed out as a yellow orb formed.
"Hado Number 31, Okasen!"
The yellow orb formed an arc of yellow lightning as wide as his palm, rocketing towards her and through the hole she made to strike her. It seemed he had no real worry for the buildings, since it was evening. Nobody should still be at work, after all. Either way, he was sure they'd come up with some random excuse for all this destruction. If he could contain it to just this area it'd make it a lot easier.
After the explosion--unsure if it hit her or not--he let the hand drop and ripped his Zanpaku-to from the ground.
Ugh, well shit. Her hand raised up, the hazel ball formed and she conflicted which form of energy to use. She could fire several bala, or the stronger cero.
"Bala!" she cried out, sending six of the high-speed hazel blasts toward the kido and Akihiko.
As they flew, she cut her arm slightly and let the blood slip down. Amused, she licked her arm to get rid off the excess blood and listened. She heard something heavy moving, which she assumed was his zanpakuto. Crouching low, with her arm and blade behind her back, she waited for the man to get closer to her.
"Oi, V! Ya still alive there? Really lookin' forward to that da--" He was cut off as three of the six Bala rocketed from the smoke of his Okasen and slammed into him, exploding and shredding the street around him. He growled in pain and coughed. Though he remained standing, his jacket was now torn in several places. Grumbling he shrugged it off and let out a grunt of pain.
"Ah, yeah, that's a rib. Prolly shouldn't be where it is though," he grumbled as the leather material hit the ground with a light thump. His shirt was still wearable, but now had several holes revealing the bare flesh beneath. His jeans were also cut in several places. He looked to his boots and sighed.
"Least they're heavy duty."
He couldn't keep sitting here and exchanging long distance attacks with her...but then, Awaisubeta was far too wieldy to be swinging in an office building. So, he guessed he'd rely strictly on his limbs. He shunpo'd once towards the hole, re-appearing only to shunpo again, this time to appear inside with her, his fist driving forward with the intent to slam into her stomach. Oddly, he was avoiding her face. Likely though, knowing him, he just didn't want to mess it up and then have to look at it.
"Oi, V! Ya still alive there? Really lookin' forward to that da--"
She giggled rather loudly, pleased that her bala had crashed into him. She was rather hoping that they'd hit his face and stop him from talking, but body wounds were just as good.
"Heh, don't worry baby. That date won't be half as fun as this," she called out, endearingly.
When he commented about his rib, she looked at his body and smiled. He was getting hurt, and possibly worse than her. Although, the moment she released all of her wounds would simply disappear anyway.
"Aw, poor Aki. I could rearrange your body parts when I drag you back to my lab!" she said, cheerfilly.
She heard the swooshing of the Shunpo, but she couldn't really sense where he was coming from. His fist slammed into her stomach, and some saliva leaked out from the corner of her mouth. As grotesque as it was, she couldn't help it. He kept aiming for the same spot and now she was pissed. She used her Sonido to get to the top of a building and looked at her blade.
The blood was still wet on it, so she smiled. She licked the blood off of her sword and screamed into the sky.
Injuria, Sacerdotisa VudĂș!" she called out the name of her Zanpakuto and a giant cloud of smoke conceals her.
"Heh, don't worry baby. That date won't be half as fun as this."
"Depends on how drunk I get you," he replied with a wide smile. When she mentioned her lab he let out a 'pfft'. "It got a bed?"
After he struck her and she fled he gave chase. Using several shunpo he arrived to the rooftop and took a heavy breath. Moving like that with a broke rib--or a couple--certainly wasn't the best thing to do. He'd have to end this, now. That last bala-barrage hurt like hell.
When he arrived, it was just in time to see her scream skywards.
"Injuria, Sacerdotisa VudĂș!"
As the smoke engulfed her, he felt her reiatsu rising and he blinked. He spread his feet wide, bringing the blade out front of him and holding it with both hands. He wasn't nervous, but he could feel the level of the reiatsu, and the hair on the back of his neck stood up.
