With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Standing on top of a mountain and looking down at the world below, a figure that appeared to be around three feet tall blocked out some of the light from the setting sun, casting a long shadow... Maybe it wasn't that long of a shadow. Actually, the mountain was the main source of the shadow, and it cast a rather long and powerful one that engulfed a forest and a lake below. It must have been getting late or else this wouldn't be happening the way it was. Fuego didn't even seem signifigant in the shadow.
As he stood on the mountain, looking over the world below, his normal placid and emotionless expression sat plain on his face. A slight breeze blew some of his navy blue hair around, and revealed his white bandage of a mask that wrapped halfway around little Fuego's head. He stared over the land below looking very much like a robot as he didn't even blink at it, not so much as a little joy in his eyes. It became even more apparent when Fuego jumped off of the rock he was perched on and looked at an incoming source of reiatsu.
"And you are?" He asked with his voice, void of all emotion.
"Eh?" The kid looked up, to see an even smaller child glaring in his direction. "I'm nobody! Just another hiker on this wonderful mountain range!"
He smiled and sighed contently, turning away from the tiny boy and looking out towards the horizon, it was truly a beautiful sight to behold. But to be honest, he knew he couldn't really enjoy it for that long. Originally, the young boy had wanted to hike as a time of solitude, seeking refuge where there were no humans about.
In general, he would come here to train, honing his skills to make sure that time would not dull his blade and his receptiveness to his Zanpakutou.
His dark brown eyes blinked and took in the sunset as it cascaded a glorious variety of colors against the sloping hills as far as the eye could see. His blue hair also drifted with the wind, blowing about his face wherever the wind took it.
However, even with his relaxed face and smile, he knew that he could not take this toddler lightly, as he generated an enormous amount of reiastu. It was funny that the boy could even sense him while he was in his faux body, but that was okay.
"Hey shorty," He turned gave the kid a small smile, "what's your name huh?"
Remer Ather himself was not a very tall boy, but even at his height of five-foot-two'ish, he towered over this boy. He giggled a wobbled about, a smile still playing on his face as he waited for shorty to answer.
Fuego's face remained emotionless as he looked at the boy. This child was an odd one. Not only did he have a high amount of reiatsu but he also had an aura that was both similar to that of a hollow's and that of a shinigami's.
The wind blew another amount of Fuego's hair away and his red eyes carried a slight, but present glow. Then he heard something else that shook the placid and empty expression from Fuego's face.
"Hey Shorty," The boy said... "Short..." Fuego clenched his fist for a moment and another of his psychotic grins that indicated his anger spread across his face. "Short..." A moment of silence followed, but it was quickly shattered as Fuego jumped upward with his body facing horizontally as he was about to slam his feet into this newcomer's face. His legs were folded behind him, although they wouldn't be for long. In a split second they were snapped out at the boy's face and Fuego flipped backwards to land, glaring at this... This thing.
"Monstruo tonto del gigante!" Fuego yelled at the newcomer pointing at him.
"Nani?" He cocked an eyebrow as the kid started to shake with anger. "Did I say something wrong?"
As a enraged smile grew over shorty's face, a look of confusion swept over his. What was going on?
"What's wrong short--...? Nngh!" Remer was immediately cut off by a pair of feet implanting themselves into his face at breakneck speed, throwing him backwards several feet before crashing into the ground. The young boy had swirly dazed eyes for a moment and a red shoe imprint on his face.
After a few minutes, Remer got up to his knees, nose bleeding freely. "Owie! That really hurt! Y'know you're pretty strong for such a shorty!"
He winced and touched his nose... it was probably broken or something. What the hell, he had already needed to patch this gigai up several times this week alone!
"Monstruo tonto del gigante!"
"What was that?" Remer questioned, having finally stopped the bleeding. "Speak Japanese shorty, I can't understand mini-speak."
He smiled good-naturedly and rolled his neck, he hadn't really expected a kick to the face before proper introductions.
Yet another demonic smile swept over Fuego's face when he heard that word again.
"What's that? Speak Japanese shorty I can't understand mini-speak," The boy foolishly said again.
Fuego lowered his hands and slipped them into his jacket pockets. "I see... So that's how it is monstruo tonto del gigante." Without another word, Fuego's chibi rage engulfed him again as he jumped up and got ready to slam a powerful punch packed with reiatsu into the boy's head.
"Call me little will you!?" Fuego half demanded half screamed as he camed crashing down at the boy, but at the last minute landed next to him, rolling, and leaving two handprints packed with reiatsu on the ground next to the boy. "Do you think it is wise to insult an arrancar in such a manner?" Fuego asked as he stood up, back turned to this stranger.
He was slowly regaining his calm and emotionless composure, although he was finding it rather difficult to do so. Being called short, no, just being looked down upon, was something Fuego didn't tolerate. His expression slowly became one that was calm and void of emotion, although there was a little part of him that wanted to punch that child in the head.
He blinked a couple times as the small boy flew through the air, moving at inhumane speeds, especially of his small stature. Still, he expression didn't seem to change as the kid came crashing down towards the earth at him, there was only the same, generic look of confusion as Remer made no attempt to move.
He didn't even seem shocked as the boy changed his course of action and hit the dirt beside him, leaving a crater next to Remer's feet. The former Shinigami simply smiled and the kid attempted to intimidate him with his back turned.
"Oooohh... Arrancar is it?" His mouth made a small 'o' as his interest seemed to perk up, a smile still playing at his lips. "I'm not insulting you kid! Really, I'm just being friendly!"
"Arrancars DO know how to be friendly, right?" He smiled and ruffled the shorty's hair and jumping back before the Arrancar could take a swing at him. "Tch. I guess we can't be friends then? That's too bad."
Landing on an outcrop of rocks a good distance off, the former Shinigami shot the boy a wide smile. "I've always wanted to be friends with a midget!"
He giggled and slipped out of his gigai, the faux body falling lifelessly behind him. With a wide grin, the boy cocked his head to his side, reiastu immediately flaring.
There was a slight change in clothes, but not by much. Since he now hated Shinigami, Remer had decided to long ago don the uniform and simply wear human clothes. He wore a blue vest and light blue singlet, easily matching the color of his hair. Remer also had a pair of dark blue jeans on that were torn a bit, such was the style right?
The young boy smiled at the midget with a blue flame starting the burn about him, allowing it to flare for a couple moments longer before willing it down.
"Arrancar..." He sighed and smiled again. "I really don't have any business with you, so why don't we just go our seperate ways huh?"
He smiled heartily at the boy, knowing full well that the Arrancar was not going to back down, after all, they were bred to fight, to be soldiers. Still, he could try, couldn't he?
Not knowing that this boy's words were like bait, or rather, not caring, Fuego turned his head with another demonic smile that showed nothing but rage. He was getting his fighting spirit into him, and he glared at the... was that even a shinigami? Fuego couldn't tell anymore but he didn't care either.
"I don't know what's up with that reiatsu of your's giant, but you're asking for a fight calling me a midget... No, you're asking to get killed." The psychotic look engulfed Fuego's face as he smiled a bone-chiling ear-to-ear grin at this... Thing.
"And getting out of that gigai of your's only confirms it... You're asking for a fight aren't you?" Fuego asked as he let loose a quick but sharp burst of reiatsu. His red eyes were striking, like they were each firing ceros. Well, at least one of them would should they actually fight, but that would be saved for later as a surprise.
He sighed, this was going to be a pain, but he wasn't about to let himself get depressed about it, no, that wouldn't do at all. He just giggled at pointed at the tiny Arrancar. "You're a strange one, you know that?"
"...And really insecure." He added in afterthought, after thinking for a moment. "Reeeaaaallllyyy insecure if you care so much about people commenting on your height. I mean, how can someone not comment on your height? You're what... a foot tall?"
He knew the kid wasn't a foot tall, but... details, details! The point was that the kid was short, really short. "Oh goodness me, fight?! Of course not, this is just for self-defense y'know? You've already attacked me twice for just talking. I mean, what did poor little me ever do to you?"
He paused for a moment... "I take that back. Big me, if we're comparing sizes right now."
He gave the kid a lop-sided grin before jumping about the short rock outcrops on one foot, as if he was playing hop-skotch. He seemed to even have taken his complete attention off the hot-headed Arrancar, as if he needed to focus on balancing.
He giggled and lost his balancing, landing roughly on his rear, causing him to giggle more. He turned back to the kid, eyes filled with child-like wonder as he cocked his head.
"So little man," Remer started, scratching his head. "Friends?"
So many times Fuego heard the word little being directed at him. So many times he was called short. As the shinigami -or so he assumed it was- started to hop down the rocks, Fuego closed his left eye. This wouldn't end well for this newcomer.
"So little man... Friends?"
"Dream on monstruo tonto del gigante," Fuego said as a cero blasted from his right eye and right at the shinigami's abdomen. Fuego's cero was much smaller than most other ceros, which was nessacary in order for him to fire one at all.
He sighed mentally as a Cero was fired in his direction, it was small, the most he could expect from one who's reiastu had not matured yet. However, even though it was small, he couldn't underestimate it.
The Cero detonated, seeming to hit the young blue-headed boy, but the was no true. With a short blur, the former Shinigami reappeared several feet behind the boy, shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Temper temper..." He sighed, now in a standing position, due to his use of his advanced flash-step. Remer, like most other Shinigami, loved the use of this supposedly secret technique. It allowed him to move at speeds incomprehendable by the naked eye, and he took pride in advancing in that area. "You shouldn't be so short--- errr quick to anger!"
He smirked and flash-stepped away, reappearing a couple feet in front of the midget, who apparently wanted to remain unnamed. Sighing, he pulled his Zanpakutou from the sheathe that was strapped to his back, revealing it's purely white blade.
