With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

Chie stood on the streets of Karakura. She had no clear destination though she likely would need to get food before she went home. It had been another mindbogglingly dull day at work, just how did humans manage to do such mundane things without going mad? It didn't matter since she received her money and she could keep an eye open for the young spiritually aware students she could tell were there.
She began to move down the street in the direction of a store that she had gotten her food from before. Her red hair fluttered with the breeze and she brushed it out of her eyes as she adjusted her jacket. There was a slight chill in the air she noticed but thought nothing of it.
She sensed something faint in the distance. A Hollow? It was possible if unlikely she thought. Changing directions to meet the source of this energy she walked with purpose. Who knew what she would find at her destination. She had been told to observe the spiritually aware of the town by her superiors and perhaps she could converse with who or whatever was in possession of the power she sensed in the distance.

It had been some time since that night in the woods, but Samyeru needed to get some much needed cash to fix his broken home. Too bad that he could only fix the physical damage and not the emotional. He could almost still hear Lilith's words every time he finds another article of clothing or toy she had insisted on owning. The charred remains of his former life with her were all he really had of her.
That wasn't true, he still had the memories of their time together. He will always cherish those. But now he was here, in a gigai that barely contained his spiritual signature. To any normal person, he appeared as a tall, silver haired man with sunglasses, and a black bowling shirt with an ivory stripe down the middle. It was opened to show a plain black shirt under neath.A hammer necklace with Nordic details fell just below the collar bone. The straight, boot cut jeans fell down to his sandled feet.
He had received an order to find a missing bird, but not any old cockatoo. He was looking for a rare blue-headed macaw. These things were highly intelligent and this one was said to be more crafty then your run of the mill bird. This job would give him much needed money and a little boy would get his pet back.
He had tracked it down here, but it would be much easier if he could actually look for the girl. Being blind really did suck.

As Chie continued her walk she noticed someone. This person was nothing out of the ordinary with their sunglasses and nice clothes but something was off she felt. She focused on sensing those with power and the man was indeed the person she had sensed before. She didn’t know if he was a shinigami in a Gigai or perhaps a human with powers. Either way she moved to intercept him.
As she drew closer she attempted to discern what exactly the man in front of her was. She could discount Hollow but that still left a great number of possibilities. She would put human on that list but there were a few humans with great power so that was still possible if less plausible. She finally got close enough to speak to him.
She was debating what to say. Did she simply walk up and tell them that she sense power within them? Was that a good idea if they turned out to be hostile? Chie looked at the surrounding area as she kept up with the man though with a small distance between them. As she observed him and thought she noticed that something beyond his power seemed off though she could not put a finger on it.
“Excuse me” Chie finally spoke “I am sorry to bother you but do I know you?” Chie figured that the old “Do I know you” line would start a conversation better than “Are you a Hollow or a Shinigami”. She put a quizzical look on her face and prepared numerous responses depending on the man’s answer to her question. She knew where her gikongan was if things got ugly.

Samyeru picked up on a scent Chie the moment the breeze blew by. She smelled of cleaning supplies but with a hint of flower, so he came to the conclusion that she must be a house wife. But something else was in the air around her as she started to walk toward him. Yeah, she wasn't human. She smelled like a hollow but mostly shinigami, so he came with the conclusion that she was a Vizard.
He focused on her footsteps as she started to approach him. The vibrations of her steps echoed to his ears to give him a basic understanding of her size. Though he couldn't see her, he could tell that she was in a gigai by not being able to sense her zanpakuto.
When she made it to him, he didn't her way. What was the point, being blind prevent him from admiring anything beautiful. It almost sounded like a cheesy pick up line, so he smirked before he answered. It was too easy to make fun of her, but she might be useful down the line.
Tapping his chin lightly and making a thinking face. "Nope, I don't recognize the voice miss..." He trailed off to get her to introduce herself, a classic move in response to such a question.

“Oh, I’m sorry, my name is Hagimura Yukiko” Chie said using her false identity. She had gotten used to referring to herself as someone else. She moved to be in front of him and looked at him and knew he was in a Gigai but she couldn’t tell what he was under it. She looked at his eyes or, more accurately, his sunglasses.
“Might I ask for your name now that you know mine?” if he wanted her name she was going to get his. A glance around the street revealed that they were mostly alone and the few people around seemed to be ignoring them. This Gigai was well built, at least physically, and would look similar to the man using it. From that knowledge Chie supposed that this man would likely be physically imposing in his natural form.
She tried sensing his reiatsu to see if he was a shinigami or hollow or something else entirely. She caught feint wisps of both shinigami and hollow. A fellow Vizard? Maybe an Arrancar though. She’d find out soon enough. Chini seemed absolutely ecstatic at the idea of killing a Vizard or Arrancar.
“A worthy challenge, a worthy challenge!” the inner hollow repeated like a mantra. Chie closed her eyes and struggled to keep control. Not today she hoped, not today.

Samyeru felt her eyes on him as her light footsteps moved in front of him. She was examining him like a photo or maybe like a piece of meat. He was going to have some fun with this now. "Does your husband know you like staring at blind men?" Sure, he figured she was some kind of Vizard and most likely not married. Marriage among the living would a futile endeavor do to the fact they age differently.
When she asked his name, that was an obviously going to happen. Smiling, he knew his name had no reputation among Soul Society and the few vizards that knew him were solitary creatures and would never talk about him. The only ones that would even know about his first name would be anyone who happened to read the report that Ikkaku and Kimiko had to write from the incident a few weeks ago.
"Me?" He pointed at himself with a false face of stupidity. Playing the fool was fun indeed. "My name is Samyeru Fenrir. Professional Retriever." With a flick of his fingers, he produced a business card for her. It had a Nordic wolf head in it as an insignia with his name and number on it.
Certainly this would bring up further questions, but that would another subject. His sharp earring heard a bird call not from this region. He cocked his head to the side to get a better listening angle but he needed to be sure it was his target. "Hey, do you see this bird over there?" He held up a picture and pointed to the left, high on a nearby roof. The picture however, had its back to Chie, so seeing it would be difficult.

Chie looked dumbfounded. Did her husband know she looked at blind men? She wasn’t married! Why did this guy think she was? Irritation almost got the better of her before she held it in. She let out a sigh.
“I am most decidedly not married” she said with a frown on her face. Then he told her his name. It meant nothing to her so she still had no idea who he was really other than a Personal Retriever. That sounded like he was some kind of odd jobs type of guy. Regardless if he wasn’t hurting anyone then she didn’t expressly care what he did.
He mentioned a bird and pointed in the direction she had heard some bird call. He lifted a picture that she could only see the back of. She walked around to see it and then looked up at the bird. It sure looked similar from this distance. “Yeah, I think it is” she said.
“Wait, you are blind and you find things? How exactly does that work?” she asked as curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to know. It just seemed so, so ironic, that a blind man would professionally find things. She suppressed a laugh and apologized for her laughter.

Her reaction could have been better, funnier in fact. He expected her to blow up in embarrassment, denying any husband. He could imagine her face, though he had no idea what she really looked like. But no, she sighed and had a simple reaction. Such a boring response, no way that would lighten his mood.
His head lowered in depressed shame as Chie's footsteps indicated she walked behind him. "The picture it backwards, isn't it?" Damn that girl, making him this way. His retrieving business has suffered slightly, but he was still able to certain things. He was able to find people, pets, and stuff, but only if he got the scent.
Before he started to walk off, he looked toward where he pointed. "I wasn't always blind and I'm just lucky my other senses compensate." He started to walk toward the bird or at least the building that it was perched on. If only he could find a fire escape or something.
That something certainly was found when he hit his head and knock himself on his ass. Rubbing his forehead, Samyeru got back up to figure out what hit him.

The man walked toward the building where the bird he was looking for was perched. He collided with a fire escape and fell backwards. Chie offered a hand to help the man back up as she looked up toward where the bird was. It was perched on the corner of the nearby building.
“You could take this fire escape up to the roof I suppose” she said as she looked upward with her hand still out for the man to take if he needed it. She knew that he couldn’t see it now but she still offered it out of habit if nothing else. The walk up the stairs would be easy for her and she assumed that, since the man had walked easily enough, he would not be in any danger of falling off the escape.
“How do you plan on capturing the bird Fenrir” she asked. She didn’t see a cage or anything that would be used to hold the animal. The bird also could simply fly away and she would have no way to follow it without leaving her gigai.

Fire escape? That must have been what he walked into. Good thing it didn't hurt, but the embarrassment shall never go away. Brushing off his pants, not realizing that Chie had offered her hand in assistance. Then she asked an interesting question.
“How do you plan on capturing the bird Fenrir?”
He blankly stared toward her, as two and two were put together. Slapping his hand against the side of his head, he started to panic. "CRAP!! I left the cage at the house." Now, face in hand as the realization takes over completely. Even if he managed to get to the bird, he had no cage. This was not his day.
Sighing, Samyeru let out a breath as he calmed down. Nothing left to do now, seeing that he can't capture the bird. "I'll have to mark this off as a free day. Can't charge for my mistake." He said aloud but to himself as he stretched his arms a bit.
For a moment, a silence came over him. He had no idea what to do now, he had planned to get this bird, but without a cage he couldn't. He could always go home and try again later, but then again he could go get some food. Rubbing his stomach, Samyeru looked where Chie was standing. "Well this day won't have to be a complete waste. You hungry? I'm buying." He asked, pointing toward the direction of the food district.
