With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Konan Shirosaki had one of the weirdest days of her life, before. In one whole day, she had met a man that explained to her that she was a Quincy. That very same night a hollow attacked, and a Shinigami came to help her. Later, she would begin to have feelings for the man, Nagase Hisao. He left, for a place called Soul Society, but promised he'd return. To reassure her, he left his precious necklace in her care.
She took out the beautiful teardrop necklace, and admired it for a moment. She continued walking throughout the park, it was a rather quiet day. Book in hand, she was headed toward an apple tree.
When she arrived, she kissed the necklace then put it back in her dress. She flipped open her book, and began reading from where she left out. It was a love story, about star crossed lovers.
She grinned, as she compared her situation to theirs. Then, halfway through the book, she replaced the characters names, with Naga's and hers. It made the book quite interesting, as the male had cheated. In return, the female let out all of his dark secrets.
She sighed, longingly, as she thought about Nagase. It had nearly been a week without the man, and it was truly straining her. Not that she loved him, or anything like that, but she missed his affection. His smile, his hair, his arms around her, etc.
She then looked back down, as she began to finish the book in her hands.

Time was of the essence. Nagase had been waiting for an assignment to pop up and he quickly grabbed at it when it arose. He was to go to the human world and keep watch over Karakura for a two day period. Now he was to go in a Gigai with his good friend Homura who said that she would keep watch and he would provide support as needed. This worked fine for Nagase who, on arrival in the land of the living, rushed to find Konan.
The first place he checked was her house but she had just left he could tell. When he reached out to sense reiryoku he could tell she was at a nearby park. Perfect, he could put something nice together for her if he was fast. Nagase bolted to a close store and gathered up various foods that he figured might be typical picnic items: stuff for sandwiches, some cold drinks, and a healthy dose of fruit. He got some other assorted stuff but wasn’t paying it much mind. He placed it all in a simple basket he found while wandering around the store.
He paid with some money that Homura had managed to get from other shinigami who had been in the world of the living. He reached out and sensed Konan again and walked quickly to her. He weaved down a few roads and some pathways until she came into sight. She had the necklace he had left with her on. It shined brilliantly in the sunlight.
In his Gigai he looked much like he had at the end of their last night together in a simple shirt, slacks, and a jacket as well as his ever present glasses. His hair was unkempt as always, even in a Gigai it refused to cooperate. He took a long route around in order to not disturb her reading. He wanted to surprise her.
As he came up behind where she was he took a step and appeared in front of her, hopefully surprising her. “Now then Miss Shirosaki, is that book any good? I’m a bit of a reader myself you know” Nagase asked as he crouched in front of her. He looked over the book at her beautiful eyes and smiled. "The necklace looks more beautiful on you than I imagined" he said as he looked at her.

So captivated by her book, Konan didn't even feel Naga's presence, and when he appeared in front of her, she almost jumped back. She did gasp, and put her hand to her chest though. You couldn't really blame her, it was a really surprising moment.
She blushed as he mentioned how the necklace looked on her, before putting her book down. Or more like she threw the book, and threw herself into an embrace around the older man. She let a single tear of joy streak down her cheek, before she wiped it away.
"The book doesn't matter. What matters is how I've missed you." she said, with a sigh of happiness.
She sat in his lap is she innocently went through his basket, seeing what he had attempted to get to eat. It was pretty simple stuff, and she grinned. She realized he probably wasn't used to the whole dating thing, which made it all the more enjoyable.
She caressed his cheek, before planting a kiss on it, "Naga-chan, how long are you here, this time?" she asked, with a silly grin on her face.
He really made her smile, and she admired that about him. Her inner self reminded herself not to fall in love, but, with each passing day, it seemed harder, and harder, to stick with that code.

Nagase wrapped his arms around her as she embraced him. She had missed him, perhaps as much as he had her and that made him happy in a way. He sat down where she had just been sitting and she positioned herself on his lap. He placed his arms around her and his head on her shoulder as she went through all of the stuff he had gotten.
“I’ve got two days, I leave at a little after midnight tomorrow” he said in response “So the question is what shall we do with this time?” He put on a brilliant smile. He looked at the scenery around them: The tree hanging over them giving them shade, the sun high in the sky, the grass blowing in the wind, and Shirosaki just was being herself. It was a beautiful day.
“I hope I got the right stuff, I’m not exactly knowledgeable about, uh, dating and picnics” he admitted “But I gave it my best shot for you, so I hope I got something you liked.” He meant it because he really had just gotten things that looked like they would make sense and some things that his friends had suggested.
After she kissed his cheek his face grew red as he remembered all of the kisses they had shared the last time they had been together. He looked away as he got even more red. He was embarrassed at the memory of his own boldness in the heat of the moment and it made him a bit shy for the moment. How did she manage to get him flustered with just a kiss on the cheek?

She blushed as he wrapped his arms around her while she was in his lap. She was actually sufficiently surprised that he had even allowed such a bold move. The man was pretty timid, and it seemed like a stretch for something that he'd do. She grinned though, as he was clearly becoming used to her.
He said that he basically had two days, and she smiled. It was rather bitter sweet news, but it was better than having no time at all. She grabbed his hands, and intertwined them with her as she leaned into his strong frame.
At his mentioning that he had done his best with the picnic, she grinned. She knew that he probably had no dating experience, at all.
"You did good, honey. Pretty standard picnic right here." she grinned as she fished out an apple, and bit into it. She liked it, but noticed his face get hot after her kiss.
Awww, Naga-chan still isn't used...to...this..."she teased as she closed in.
Apple still in hand, she leaned in close. As she finished her last words, their lips were touching. She pushed against his lips again, this time more passionate. She had to get him used to kissing her, or else things would get awkward.
As she finished, she relaxed against his body as she considered his earlier question. "I don't care what we do, even if it's just sitting at home. It doesn't matter, as long as I'm with you." she said, lovingly to the man.
