Name: Toushiro Hitsugaya
Gender: Male
Rank:
*Division: 10th Division
*Seat: Captain
Personality: What can be said about Captain Hitsugaya aside from the fact he is stern and he follows the rules. Job and mission always comes first in his mind before the affairs of others. Dispite his careless Vice-Captain, Hitsugaya remains one of the most repected Captains of Soul Society and the Gotei 13. He is often quiet and when his opinion is needed he will deliver it. When meetings are made he is one of the first to arrive and attends with the most respect and honor.
To Hitsugaya Work comes frist. Matsumoto loves to drink and party, but when she is caught Hitsugaya scolds her and informs her to attend in the paperwork or he will be one angry Captain. Matsumoto usually listens untill she can get away from him again. Momo Hinamori which is a very close person to him always talks down to him as "Shiro-Chan" (Or Lil Shiro for you Dub watchers...). Momo may look as if she is not important to Hitsugaya on the outside, but if a drop of blood is ever spilt from her body, then Hitsugaya is the first to retaliate. Hitsugaya vows to protect her with all that he is and it pains him to see her in pain.
After Aizen's betrayl Hitsugaya would watch Momo as she recovered from her latest injury with pain. On his Mission to Earth to wait for the Arrancar Momo and him talked with smiles on their faces. But when Momo begged Hitsugaya to not hurt Aizen and that he's just being "Controlled" Hitsugaya couldn't help but frown to see her still protecting the man that stabbed her.
Hitsugaya's strength is one to be aware of, for is he has a suitable amount of hydration in the area, he can use his Ban-Kai for a longer period of time. His Shikai's strength alone has so much force and PSI it can tear a man apart, not including the ice. Overall Hitsugaya is a good Captain and fights for what he thinks is right. Even in the Rebellion he led Soul Society back to safety after solving the mystery of his former friend Sojiro and with the help of Ichigo, making peace once again.
Appearance:
Zanpakutō Spirit: Hyorinmaru
Sealed Zanpakutō: Hitsugaya's zanpakuto is Hyorinmaru. When sealed, Hyorinmaru looks almost exactly like a normal zanpakuto with the exception of the guard, which is in the shape of a four-pointed star. The hilt is light-blue while the sheath is a deep blue. Hyorinmaru is the strongest of all ice element zanpakuto in Soul Society. Hyorinmaru is one of the three zanpakuto spirits that have been seen, the others being Zangetsu and Zabimaru. Hyorinmaru's spirit is a large, winged, Japanese dragon.
Shikai Description: In its shikai, Hyorinmaru itself remains the same, but gains a crescent-shaped blade attached to the hilt by a chain. Hyorinmaru allows Hitsugaya to control water and ice. The slashes created by Hyorinmaru gives off an immense amount of spirit power which overflows from the tip of the blade, creating a flow of ice vaguely shaped like Hyorinmaru's dragon spirit. The dragon flies at opponents and instantly freezes anything it touches. The chain-blade also freezes anything Hitsugaya traps with it.
Release: "Soten Ni Zase" or "Soar from the Frozen Heavens"
Bankai: Daiguren Hy¨rinmaru (´ó¼tÉ šê݆Íè, Great Crimson Lotus Ice Ring, Grand Crimson Lotus Ice Ring): causes ice to flow from Hy¨rinmaru onto Hitsugaya, forming into a long tail, two large wings which enable him to fly, and his 4-pointed star hilt changes into an 8 star one. Ice also forms into a dragon's head around his sword hand, encasing it up to the hilt; which is in the shape of an eight-pointed star. His left arm is covered completely by ice from his shoulders and his hand ends in claws, with his fingers encased inside. Hitsugaya's feet are encased in ice in a similar manner to his left arm. His shoulders are also partly encased in ice and sprouting from his back are wings.
Bankai Special Ability: Hy¨rinmaru's Bankai has several special techniques.
Daiguren Hy¨rinmaru, T¨shir¨ Hitsugaya's BankaiRy¨±senka (¸oö±»¨, Dragon Hail Flower): When Hitsugaya stabs his opponents, a huge burst of ice erupts from the point of contact between Hy¨rinmaru and the opponents, encasing and freezing them. Hitsugaya can then proceed to shatter the ice and his opponent with it.
Sennen Hy¨r¨ (ǧÄêšêÀÎ, Thousand Years' Ice Prison): Hitsugaya creates many ice pillars which encircle him and his enemy. At his command (when he turns his sword 90 degrees counter-clockwise), these pillars then move towards the enemy, enveloping and crushing it. Though this technique is very powerful, Hitsugaya speculates that it takes a considerable amount of time to prepare, and therefore the distraction of his enemy is crucial in successfully completing this attack.
Shield of Ice Wings: Hitsugaya is capable of wrapping his wings around himself like a sphere protecting him from any attacks.
Daiguren Hy¨rinmaru Ice Dragon: Hitsugaya can release a more powerful form of his Shikai attack during Bankai. Instead of creating just a dragon's head attached to a long serpentine tail of ice, Hitsugaya can create a full-fledged dragon with wings matching his own, which can fly independently and encircle his opponents, constricting and crushing before biting them.
Bankai Regeneration: During earlier appearances of his Bankai, three flowers of ice used to form floating behind him, each consisted of four purple petals shaped like diamonds. These petals melted away petal by petal as Hitsugaya's battle with the Arrancar Shawlong K¨±fang progressed, leading his opponent to speculate that Hitsugaya's Bankai will fade when all twelve petals disappear, assuming that the captain's Bankai was incomplete due to his young age. But he has since surpassed this "stage" as shown during his battle with Luppi (the sixth Espada for a time), where he states that as long as there is water in the surrounding area or atmosphere, his Bankai can regenerate itself indefinitely It should be noted that in his most recent battle with Harribel that the petals have returned with only two petals of one flower gone.
Ice Clone: Once per activation of his Bankai, T¨shir¨ is able to create and shape a large amount of ice into his exact likeness. It is very life-like as it can appear to bleed. It has yet to be revealed the exact circumstances that limit the use of this ability to one use.
Guncho Tsurara: T¨shir¨ fires an array of ice daggers.
Hyoten Hyakkaso: T¨shir¨ is able to control the clouds and use it as his weapon.
History/Background: General History: Hitsugaya's early life was spent in Junrinan, District 1 of Rukongai. There he lived with his grandmother and Momo Hinamori. He was also a friend of Jidanbo, the West Gate Keeper, whom he taught the "city rules."
Hitsugaya meets Hyorinmaru for the first time.As a child, Hitsugaya had an icy demeanor that estranged himself from others, with the exception of his grandmother and Hinamori. She would call him "Shiro-chan" (Lil' Shiro in the English dub) and he would retort by calling her "Bed-wetter Momo." The three were very close, and Hitsugaya was irritated when Hinamori left to join the Soul Reaper academy. Throughout his childhood, he was always aware of what seemed to be an icy presence within himself and had continuous dreams about a plain of ice. He claims or believes he died on that plain. Five years after Hinamori's departure, Hitsugaya encountered Rangiku Matsumoto, then a normal Soul Reaper, in a marketplace, when she stood up to a merchant who left his change on the counter, rather than handing it to him. The two got into an argument, and Rangiku noticed Hitsugaya's enormous latent spiritual power.
That night, Hitsugaya dreamt again of the icy plain and finally met Hyorinmaru for the first time, though he could not hear the spirit's name. He woke up to find Rangiku admonishing him for not being able to control his power, which had been freezing his grandmother. She convinced him that power like his needed to be controlled, and convinced him to become a Soul Reaper. With Hitsugaya's natural talent, he entered the Soul Reaper academy in spite of his age and became known as a prodigy, quickly ascending to captain of the 10th Division, ironically making him Rangiku's superior.
Hinamori has continued to call Hitsugaya "Shiro-chan" out of habit, and still feels protective of him. Because of a promise she had made, she only began to call him by name after he had achieved his zanpakuto's shikai and was recognized as a Soul Reaper. Highly capable and knowledgeable, he remains the youngest of the captains within the Gotei 13.
