With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
The moment Sayuri dug into her food, he had to resist staring with his jaw unhinged. It was an drastic change in character and not one he could say he was... at all used to. Still, her own reasoning behind it seemed to be legitimate. He forcefully shut his jaw and turned his attention back to his food.
He was about two pieces of sushi into his food when their ideas fully registered in his head.
A match? A match that included him?
He drew back and slowed down, almost choking on his sushi as he did so. Beating his chest, a couple times he was able to clear his wind pipe rather effectively.
"This serva--... I mean, I-I am... -ahem- rather humbled by the idea," he started, bowing his head slightly. "However, I do not believe a retain enough skill to even give Sayuri-san a proper work out."
"But..." He said after a moment. "If it is your wish, Soifon-sama, I would be more then happy to oblige."
He mentally cursed himself. Did he have a death wish or something? There was no way that he would be able to last more then five seconds in the ring pitted against the fifth seat of his entire squad. He wasn't even seated in the second-hundred! It was like walking into a pit of sharks with the smell of blood on oneself.
But then again, he knew better then to turn down the captain's offer. Turning anything down from her would mean the immediate death gaze, if not worse.
Inwardly he died a little bit. He was going to get himself beaten into a bloody pulp before the petite girl beside him even broke a sweat. Sighing, he picked up his cup and sipped the tea again before moving on to his rice.

"There's no need to change your dining habits, Sayuri," she said calmly as she noticed the woman put on airs again, "But I have no plans on putting you two on a mission for a while, so you can enjoy your meal more, " she added.
Her calm dining experience was shattered as Kamair choked, and made a scene which had her turn her head towards him. She wondered how this man could be so clumsy outside of a mission. "I believe that you underestimate yourself, Kamair, but the only way to find out is to have you train with Sayuri," she said in a neutral tone, then took another piece of sushi into her mouth.
She chewed it thoughtfully, "It's settled, then. You two will have a match tomorrow morning at nine. For now, you two should relax," she said in what passed for her being relaxed when she was in a serious mode which wasn't very relaxed.
She thought about it tonight, but too soon, and they'd simply tense up, and be a wreck when the time came, and it'd mess with dinner for certain.
Soifon attempted to put on a good example as she dined casually on her meal, and tried to relax.
Sayuri blinked a little bit in surprise in response to Soifon's compliment of Kamair's ability, which lead her to look Kamair straight in the eye with a confidence of her own, "If Soi-sama believes you have the skill and talent, then it must be so - she wouldn't say that about just anyone, Kamair-sama."
Looking back up to Soifon when she declared the time when the sparring match would begin, she nodded compliantly, "Yes, Soi-sama.", somewhat gingerly almost looking a little bit like a typical teenage kid she went back to eating her meal.
"I believe that you underestimate yourself, Kamair, but the only way to find out is to have you train with Sayuri."
He bowed his head and flushed in embarrasement. "You are too kind, miss... I mean, Soifon-sama."
The new idea of dropping rank and title was really getting to Kamair, who had obviously not grown accustomed to it yet. Inwardly he soared at such a compliment, but he still highly doubted himself. No, no, if he doubted himself, that also meant that he doubted Soifon's words, which coincidentally meant that he doubted her directly.
And he didn't doubt Soifon in the least bit.
Bah, to keep up with that train of thought was irritating.
"If Soi-sama believes you have the skill and talent, then it must be so - she wouldn't say that about just anyone, Kamair-sama."
He looked between the both of them, both seeming to put a lot more faith in him than he deserved. He only hoped that he could hold to their standards. Still, it was going to be incredibly hard to face off with a woman that seemed to be close to Soifon.
And when one was close to the captain, there had to be a reason.
Scratching the back of his head, he smiled and laughed nervously. "I guess you're right, Sayuri-san."
"It's settled, then. You two will have a match tomorrow morning at nine. For now, you two should relax."
He froze... tommorow?! That was really soon. He figured that he would have had at least a week to close all his fairs and write a final letter to the people in his life. Which... weren't very many people but that was besides the point. Mentally, he pictured himself as a tiny chibi with daggars flying through his form and a chibi Sayuri laughing over his mutilated form. That is, until Nason started to yell at him.
"You fool! Pay attention when nice lady talk to you ah!"
Nani? He questioned, before snapping out of it. Oh!
"Y-yes, Soifon-sama." He finally responded, nodding his head in response as well before going back to his food.
He should savor the meal, as it might as well be his last. Inner chibi begins crying now.

Soifon could read the panic on this man... she's seen it so many times... "The match won't be lethal, it will be to show how proficient you are," she reassured him in hopes that he wouldn't lose his damn mind all of a sudden.
She dined steadily now, unsure of when the next interruption might be. She wanted to savor her meal thoroughly in respect to the people that made it. It really was good.
She started to enjoy spending time with a relaxed group. No wonder she ignored her squad so much as they were always so tense around her, mistaking stress for discipline. Perhaps change was needed more than she thought... but that comes later. She has her own project in loosening up these two into more productive units.
Sayuri only blinked a bit in response to Kamair, and nodded with Soifon in what she informed, before Sayuri mentioned herself, "I won't be fighting at full reiatsu. We'll leave the maiming one another to the mindless sword banging neanderthals of 11th Division, their 'training' methods make no sense to me... I can't count how often I've seen them being carried off to 4th Division infirmary over mere training exercises."
With no mission coming up and Soifon having told her earlier to drop the pretenses with her eating habits, Sayuri lowered her enough to just go at her food. Munching and chomping away, not necessarily like the ravenous wolf she appeared like at the start, nor the refined, proper decorum she reverted back into when she caught herself being a little bit out of control. It was more just simple indulgence for her favorite food. Though, from time to time, when she could as they ate would steal a subtle side-glance at Soifon.
"The match won't be lethal, it will be to show how proficient you are."
He let out an involuntary breath, sighing a breath of relief. So he wasn't going to die, that was good news. He was just going to be humiliated. Well, that he could deal with.
Besides, what was life without a bit of humiliation?
"I won't be fighting at full reiatsu. We'll leave the maiming one another to the mindless sword banging neanderthals of 11th Division, their 'training' methods make no sense to me... I can't count how often I've seen them being carried off to 4th Division infirmary over mere training exercises."
He breathed out again and smiled again, "A-Arigato... for this chance."
Kamair returned to his eating, chewing thoughtfully and seeming to be a little bit happier. When he was done with his sushi platter, he went on to start his rice.
"So, Sayuri-san..." Kamair started, surprised with himself for starting a conversation. "How is it that you know this place? Do you come to Rukongai often?"

Soifon let the two talk as she dined casually, interested to see if they could do anything to make them a more cohesive team. Something she believed that would better the squad.
She dared to smile a little as they seemed to get along which was a step up from the usual for her group.
She took a sip of tea, and set blended some into the background some to observe more than take part in the conversation.
"Hm?", she responded quietly when Kamair said her name, and nodded a little in response to his question before answering, "Yes, usually while on assignment for the Executive Militia of Onmitsukido. Targets on the run for their crimes flee Seireitei proper, and try to hide out here in the Rukongai districts believing with the districts vast population that it will grant them some kind of anonymity. I was hungry after one mission some odd years ago, and this place was nearby, so I begun frequenting it for such occasions. Though, when it's closed, I just go to the western food stand across the street, but... prefer not to..."
She then looked to Kamair asking with a tone of curiosity, "I admit I haven't been in the 2nd Division as long quite a few, but I'm surprised I have not seen you around before - how long have you been part of the 2nd Division?", the girl could not help but feel a bit guilty for this, because he is a member of the same Division as her, but her past isolationist methods have made his existence prier til now unknown to her.
"I admit I haven't been in the 2nd Division as long quite a few, but I'm surprised I have not seen you around before - how long have you been part of the 2nd Division?"
He paused, something flashing over his eyes briefly before hiding it with a smile. "My entire life."
Sticking a piece of shrimp into his mouth, he chewed it rather thoughtfully before continuing. "It's not surprising that you didn't know me, I grew up as a servant to the past mist--... err, leader of the house."
"But that didn't really mean we answered directly to her." Kamair popped a chunk of rice into his mouth. "There were plenty of people that were placed over us, some who were kind and some who weren't. Though we served the lady faithfully, it was clear to us that we would never be noticed as more then shadows. Though, we got used to the fact."
"Our sole purpose was to serve, and that was good enough for us." Kamair finished and turned his attention back to his food before beginning to eat in silence. He was about half-way done with the plate when there seemed to be a bunch of people yelling.
He sensed the reiastu immediately.
"Speaking of Squad 11..." He scoffed, not even bothering to turn.
The group of rowdy people were known to get into the most fights and most injuries for a bunch of nobody's. They were not entirely skilled or profficient in any sense but rather held their power in numbers. Without taking notice of the three shinigami, they took a seat a bit aways and began to pass about the sake.
