Appearance
Mayako stands at about 5' 4" tall. She is rather slim, considering her weight of 75kg. She has large, piercing blue eyes, and brown hair that reaches just below her shoulders. She stands, almost graceful in her apperance. Her face is soft and quiet, appearing to always be calm wherever she goes.
On her face are a pair of large round glasses, which she only takes off for bed and baths, and she wears a pair of cross-shaped earrings almost all the time. Her clothes are usually gothic-lolita and moe style, and she cosplays quite often. She has a small tattoo of a hawk on the small of her back, which she keeps hidden as much as she can.
Personality
To those around her, Mayako acts bright and cheerful. She walks with a spring in her step, yet keeps an air of grace around her. She spends a lot of her time smiling and laughing. Aside from that, she is not afraid to speak her own mind, and if she has something to say, she will say it, even if it hurts them. She is also a full-on lesbian, but she won't admit the fact unless asked, or 'hit on'.
Mayako works her absolute hardest to get what she wants. Her schoolwork is up to a pretty high standard, and she spends quite a lot of her spare time after school studying, leaving her weekends free.
When alone, Mayako stays silent. She keeps her head down, and tries not to do anything that may compromise what she is currently attempting.
Mayako is completely afraid of swimming, and will avoid any chances to do so.
History
Mayako was born in the Okinawa Prefecture, an illegitimate birth. Her father was a married tourist from somewhere in Hokkaido, who was having an affair with this young Okinawan woman. When born, she was named Mayako after her grandmother, who also had some form of spiritual power. Up until Mayako turned eight, she and her mother lived quite happily, and were quite rich.
During this time, Mayako could not see any form of spirits, not even basic shapes. She had lived blissfully ignorant throughout this entire time, until she and her mother decided that they were going to move. Their destination was Karakura. On the ferry from Okinawa back to the mainland, Mayako was looking over the edge of the ferry, when she was accidently shunted over the edge and into the ocean below. Her mother ran and jumped over the edge, diving into the water to save her daughter. She managed to get the nearly-dead Mayako to safety on the boat, but just before she could get up herself, a large wave hit Mayako's mother up against the side of the ship. Her already-exhausted body was simply defeated by the force, and she fell unconscious and into the water, never seen again, or so Mayako thought.
It was that day that Mayako began to see them. The spirits were in the air, and she was seeing them, chains and all. In Mayako's eyes, they were in horrible pain. She simply couldn't stand to see them, and began to wear glasses. Her eyesight hadn't changed, but they were created so that the spirits just didn't appear in front of her. Unfortunately, as Mayako's spiritual powers began to grow, the glasses became ineffective, and Mayako was never able to find wherever they were made.
Her dream became to do what her mother had aimed for but never made. She wanted to study to enter Todai, or Tokyo University. She knew that at her current age she was ineligible to enter, but she was going to study all the same. Six years passed, and she was still studying her possible hardest. And that is what she has been doing to this very day.
When she had just turned sixteen, Mayako was simply walking to school when she saw it. The Hollow. It noticed her as well, and tried to attack and eat her. Just as the Hollow was about to reach her, a streak of black came between the and killed the Hollow. When the Shinigami turned around to see who she had saved, Mayako instantly recognised it as her mother, who she thought had died. The sudden emotional 'rebound' brought out the true form of her powers.
Mayako is a lesbian out of choice, because she simply saw men as 'undesirable' and found women more attractive.

Spiritual Awakening
When Mayako had fallen off of the ferry from Okinawa, she was slowly beginning to die. As she neared death, the spirits became clearer and clearer, and the images never left. The sudden death of her own mother put a lot of emotional stress on her that night, and she never lost her spiritual power.
Discovery of Powers
The moment Mayako realised that her mother was not dead and gone forever, and in fact a Shinigami, the great emotions that had fallen upon her mind lifted, and she accepted that she had powers, letting them flow throughout her body.
Abilities Description
Mayako's power indicator appears from a very difficult-to-see point beside her right eye. When activated, a burst of spiritual particles spreads from that point, right by her nose, and outwards, towards her right ear. This appears to be 'flame-like'.

Abilities, First Stage

Bijonsupia (vision spear)
- Description of Attack - Mayako creates a spear by absorbing the spirit particles through her eye and into her right hand, similar to that of a Quincy. Unlike a Quincy's attack though, it is a spear, rather than an arrow, meaning that Mayako has to throw it to get the required distance. She puts her hand up to her eye, absorbs the spirit particles and draws the spear form our from her eye, creating a metre-long shaft.
- Type - Energy/Ranged
- Range - 50 metres maximum, 15 metres minimum (most effective range is about 35 metres)
- Limitation - The spears can only be maintained as long as Mayako is conciously using her powers. The attacks lose range and power as her throwing arm begins to fatigue.
Matsu Hate Me (Third Eye)
- Description of Attack - This is not an attack. Mayako creates a small ball of energy which is then launched into the air from her right eye. This ball of energy hovers in mid-air, controlled by Mayako's reiatsu, and when she closes her eyes, she can use it to see a 'birds-eye' view of the area. Once Mayako has finished with it, she simply dissolves it into nothing.
- Type - Energy/Non-combat.
- Range - About 20 metres.
- Limitation - Once this ability goes out of it's given range, it dissolves and suddenly shunts Mayako back into her own field of vision. Mayako must have her eyes closed to see with the orb. She can only see with one set of eyes or the other, not both.

Abilities, Second Stage

Bimu Bijon (Beam of Vision)
- Description of Attack - This attack can be produced from either Mayako's own right eye, or the orb from the 'Matsu Hate Me' ability, neither one being more powerful than the other. Mayako gathers up spirit particles from around her, and focusses it into the 'flame' around her eye. A few seconds later, a beam of condensed Reiatsu fires in a fashion similar to a Cero, except not as powerful. The process is the same if from the orb, but the orb is then instantly destroyed, so Mayako must re-create it afterwards.
- Type - Energy/Beam
- Range - 20 from eye, 40 metres max from orb (20 orb + 20 beam).
- Limitation - It takes time to charge up a beam. Once a beam has been fired, Mayako will be unable to gather up Reiatsu in her eye for five minutes, or the orb will be instantly destroyed.

Mayako sat up in her bad, after a good nights sleep. With a yawn and a stretch, she slowly moved her body down from the bed, and her feet touched the cold floor. She squealed, and puleld them back up into the warm bed. She sighed, and put her feet down again, finding her slippers this time. With a small smile, she stood up, shakily, and looked over at the clock, eyes still half-shut.
6:23 am
Mayako blinked and rubbed her eyes. She was up early, wasn't she? She slowly shuffled over towards the door of her room, before realising that her curtains were closed. She went over to them, and thrust them open. It was still early, that was for sure. She couldn't see a thing. She turned around, and managed to make her way down the stairs. It appeared that her flatmate was still asleep. Not surprising, for a hothead, he was pretty lazy.
She yawned, and stopped in her kitchen. The books had been hitting back just as hard as she'd been hitting them lately. That was never a good thing. It meant that she was going to be hell at school today, so she was going to need to freshen up first. She made her way to the bathroom, and did what she had to in there. By the time she was finished, she heard the loud thumping that could only signify one thing. Rain had fallen out of his bed again.
She sighed, and walked out of the bathroom, hearing the shouts of her room-mate as he hobbled down the stairs in pain. Turning to face the man, she simply stared at him, smiling.
"Kasai, please refrain from shouting this early in the morning." She giggled. "It's detracting from the silence. I'm going to leave now..." She turned and walked away gracefully. "I'll see you at school. Make sure that you don't... destroy the apartment before you leave. The last time cost us way too much to repair..." She sighed again, opened the door and left the building, leaving the bandaged man behind her with a sigh and a confused look on his face.
