General Information
--------------------
Name: Masashi Hiko
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Appearance
Baby-faced, and fairly short, Hiko is a young-looking man who could almost pass for being a teenager. Almost. He stands at about 5'7, making him shorter than most men his age, and he finds that the only way that he looks older is if he allows his facial hair to grow out, however, he finds that inconvenient. Hiko's eyes are a bright brown, like his sister's are naturally, and his hair is an extremely dark brown, draping around his face in an almost scraggly fashion. He is very pale, and has a very lanky build, almost looking like a cancer patient before the hair loss.
Hiko has terrible eyesight, and an annoying reflex that causes him to blink whenever something comes within an inch of his eye, no matter what it is. Because of this, he wears a thin-framed set of glasses, which correct his near-sighted gaze.
Hiko has a tendency to wear basic polo shirts and t-shirts, along with a pair of dark jeans. He is OCD about wearing lighter colors on top, for a reason even Hiko doesn't understand. His Quincy cross is on his left hand, as he shoots right-handed.
Personality
Hiko is a calm and quiet man, often soft-spoken. He doesn't grow angered easily, but he does enjoy teasing Makana on occassion. His teasing ranges from insulting her aim to insulting her lack of control, and even bringing up her lack of consistency when it comes to her hair and eye color. Often times, this will lead to Makana hitting him, and Hiko complaining about it.
Hiko has a low pain threshold, in fact, he is exceedingly intolerant to his own pain to the point where if he so much as pricks his finger he will be searching for aspirin. Because of this, he is exceedingly nervous about visiting his sister at any given time, and will almost begin shaking when he even thinks of visiting his sister.
Hiko is very intelligent, in an almost frightening manner. His IQ ranges well above genius, at almost 200, and reflects upon his ability as a Quincy. However, Hiko is extremely frail, and has many small quirks that seem to hinder his liftstyle, be it in battle or at home.
He despises to see people hurt, and has a strange fear of the death of others. In fact, Hiko is so terrified of watching those he cares for dying, that he will flee if he is certain that a battle cannot be won. Even if he is uncertain, he will not stay to watch a person die, but, rather, he will flee.
Hiko is extremely OCD about keeping things tidy and neat, and he has his own little world of organization. Everything that he owns is kept organized alphabetically, by color, or by the type of store he bought it in. He is irritated by inconsistencies of any kind, especially those within his family. It isn't his style to drop in for unexpected visits, unless there is a special occasion (and even then it's painful for him).
Hiko utterly despises Hollow with a passion, and, despite being frail, will not hesitate to kill them so long as he knows he possesses the ability. He holds a resentment for shinigami, mainly because he feels all the hollow are left for him to deal with, especially after living in San Diego for so long.
History
Unlike his sister, Hiko was actually born in the hospital. When he arrived, a great reception was made, and his three siblings began to crowd around him to sneak a peek. From the very beginning, Hiko was tiny, yet brilliant. Even without words, Hiko seemed to be the golden child of the group. Later on, this would prove to be more true than Makana would appreciate.
From when he was three, Hiko had a fairly weak immune system, reacting to the presence of hollows by sneezing and coughing, almost as if he had allergies to the creatures. By the time he was four, he could see spirits easily. At this same time, his brothers, particuarly Yoshi, pushed him to learn, and learn quickly at that. Keita seemed to think of Hiko as more of a rival than Makana did, and that was saying something. From when he was little, Hiko pushed himself to learn so that he could catch up with his brothers and leave Makana in the dust.
Sure enough, Hiko learned, and learned quickly. He was already firing arrows by the time Makana had been able to see spirits. He felt accomplished, having beaten one of his older siblings, be it a girl or not.
Hiko excelled in school, in the classroom he was unbeatable. He was given the option to skip a grade, but, Hiko, deciding it was better to wait, convinced his parents not to make him. Hiko had other things in mind, for instance, holding himself back so that he could have straight A's through high school. The kid was smarter than people took him for, and they took him for a pretty smart kid.
However, when Hiko was eleven, he came down with a severe illness that was not identified quickly enough. Hiko had developed a small, non-cancerous tumor on the outer tissue of his lungs. This was mistaken for asthma, and then for tuberculosis. However, it was eventually diagnosed, but not quickly enough to prevent him from suffering permanent damage. Hiko has suffered from a shortness of breath ever since.
By the time the tumor nonsense had ended, Hiko was moving on to high school. He remembered that he was bored for most of those years, and knew that his sister had developed several strange relationships, including one with a boy named, "Ichirou." Hiko mostly ignored that relationship, paying more attention to his father and brothers. Unfortunately, Hiko had seen it with his very own eyes: out training with Yoshi, his twenty-two-year-old brother, Hiko had thought nothing could possibly go wrong, until it did. He watched as a hollow carved apart his brother, helplessly as he broke down into a fit of coughing. He was saved by his father, and by Keita, but Hiko was traumatized.
Years passed, Makana had even gone as far as to run away from home, temporarily, and then return about two months later.
However, while she had been gone, much had changed. Hiko had been broken on a mental level, having allowed cowardice to consume him as he watched his father allow himself to die at the hands of a hollow. Hiko merely watched in disbelief as the scene unfurled before him, blood spraying, screams resounding through the air, slicing through his veil of shock. He watched helplessly as his father and brother surcame to the hollow, losing themselves and killing off their mother. Hiko had to kill them; there was no other way.
When Makana returned, the two shared a moment that would leave a mark on the pair's life forever."Hiko?" She murmured, entering the house. "Hiko, where's Keita? Where's Otou-san? Oka-chan?"
The boy shook his head; he was unable to answer any of her questions. Otou-san was a happy memory, as were Keita and Oka-chan. What was he supposed to say to his sister? That she had left her father in a depression so deep that he let a hollow consume him? That that hollow devoured Keita? That Keita slayed their mother and he was forced to demolish their own blood?
"I see..."
Hiko frowned, clenching his jaw. "I'm sorry, Makana."
"Baka," murmured the girl. "It's my fault, not yours."
Hiko and Makana began to support themselves from then on, each finding a job and pulling their own weight until they could head off to their own college. Hiko had been so scarred that he intentionally searched to go to the United States, where he figured he would be safer from hollow, and from watching Makana's inevitable death. He went into studying medicine, and hasn't visited his sister until recently.
Recently, he has decided to move back to Karakura town, where he has a job waiting for him at the hospital, as a diagnostics expert.

Origin of Powers
Hiko comes from a family of Quincy; both of his brothers and his sister were quincy, and he also inherited the gene. When Hiko discovered his powers, it was more from his father and brothers pushing him to achieve it than anything else.
Once he obtained his power, his father and brothers helped to train him. Being intelligent, Hiko absorbed the knowledge far faster than his other siblings had, especially Makana.
After his father died, he moved to the states, where he continued his training in a safer environment. At the same time, he also studied to become a doctor.
Quincy Cross
Hiko's cross is on a small golden chain, and is more like a star than a cross. The star has small, circular indentations on it and an intricate design. A small, ruby-red gem rests in the center.
Quincy Bow
Hiko's bow is very simple, a small, light blue bow. It is only about three feet in length, and wraps around his hand and spreads out. When summoning his bow, Hiko holds out his hand before him, palm facing the ground, and swiftly turns his hand upwards, reiatsu gathering and shooting out from each side. Instead of firing his arrows from his bow when it is vertical, Hiko holds his hand out, palm facing the air, and will shoot his arrows from a horizontal bow.
Other Quincy Items
Ginto Tubes - Hiko carries exactly seven on him at any given moment, keeping them all in a small, blue tote bag.
Seele Schneider - Hiko carries precisely five at any given moment, also keeping them in the same bag as his Ginto tubes.

Abilities
--------------------
Richtungspfeil - Arrows
- Description of Attack - Very simply put, these are the arrows that Hiko fires. He will reach forward with his right hand and pull out an arrow of reiatsu, raise his hand to take aim, and fire. Hiko can fire as many as twenty arrows in a second, all within three feet of his target
- Type - Offensive
- Range - 30-40 meters
- Limitation - Fairly little, Hiko must fire his sets of arrows, which last for exactly one second, eight seconds apart. Each arrow fired drains a fraction of that recharging time, so if he were to fire one instead of a set, he would need a twentieth of eight seconds in order to fire it again.
Sprenger
- Description of Attack - This technique uses five Seele Schneiders to create a pentagon-shaped seal, which when activated causes a massive explosion within its borders. When an object or a person stands within the middle of the Pentagon can the placement of the fifth Seele Schneider trap them by wrapping and binding their legs to the ground with dense spirit particles. The Seele Schneiders function as accumulators, gathering the necessary amount of spirit particles to create the explosion. The liquid inside a silver tube acts as the
- Type - Offensive
- Range - Unknown
- Limitation - The preparations for the technique combined with the charging time for the Seele Schneiders make its use in battle impractical unless the user has a partner that can stall to buy time. Hiko can only preform this technique once, as it drains much of his energy moving from place to place so quickly.
