Post by felix on Mar 4, 2011 3:44:33 GMT -5
Actual Age: 96
Appearing Age: 18
Felix is brown haired and with amber colored eyes. He stands at 6’5 with a wiry frame, though he appears a skeleton he has some muscle built from a lifetime of working on a farm with his parents. His normal attire consists basic shinigami robes and sandals. His zan is carried upside down and across his back when not in battle with its hilt sticking out on his left side.
He sports many scars from his days as a thief, when asked how he got them Felix usually only replies “Practice.” He is left handed though he fights on a fair ground with his right so most people don’t realize that he is left handed except experienced fighters.
His amber eyes often give him a certain charm that makes him seem older than he really is, this was helpful in his living days when he had to charm his way out of a situation though nowadays he finds he has less patience for charming and more for fighting.
Felix is known to be a man of very little words only speaking when spoken too or if he has something to say. Due to his height and scarred appearance he tends to give off an air of intimidation whenever he goes. When sent on a mission or other shinigami related actions, he follows his orders to the letter though at times when his orders don’t agree with his own morals he will often choose the path that seems right to him, even if the punishment he receives is severe.
Felix doesn’t come to trust people easily, he learned from his years roaming the outer circlers of the Rukongai that trusting the wrong person could get you killed. Because of this Felix has very few people that he calls a friend, and even when paired with another shinigami on an assignment still watches his own back for any sign of treachery or betrayal.
On his down time Felix is often found in a tree asleep or sitting on one of the outer barracks’ roof so that he can see the Rukongai. His mind is always a swirl of different thoughts when he doesn’t have anything to focus on, so when given the time he simply just sits and tries to enjoy the view while trying to organize his own thoughts.
Because of the way he died Felix has an irrational fear of things that touch his neck. He refuses to wear the pendants that a few reapers wear from the Rukongai market. When someone does grab him by the neck Felix panics as if he is about to relive a bad dream over again, all color drains from his face and if it is left too long Felix faints from due to the fear.
Life on the Farm
Felix was born on a small farm in Texas around 1915 as he grew so did his family; he had a large family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters, to which he was the oldest and expected to take care of his younger siblings. During the day he worked in the field helping with the crops and what little livestock they had.
During the 1930’s hard times befell Felix and his family, with the dust bowl in full swing there was barely enough food to get by, to relieve some of the stress from his parents by bringing in some extra cash and food from his “job” in the city. In reality his “job” consisted of thievery, muggings and threats.
Being taller than most Felix frightened most people just because of his sheer size, so thievery came easily and he found that he enjoyed the thrill, he was good at what he did; in fact, some tried to recruit him for bigger jobs. He always told them no because, with the bigger jobs came the bigger chance that he might seriously injure someone. Felix enjoyed being free of anyone because he chose who would be his next target.
It was a dry windy day, and Felix stood there on the side of the street as he watched people go by most shied away from him those who didn’t quickened their pace to get away. Felix used to be mad when people would cross the street just to avoid him but, he knew they had good reason to fear him; he wasn’t proud of what he’d become but, it fed his family.
As Felix stood there eyes closed he listened to the mesh of voices, this is how he would pick his next target; the voice that sounded above the others was usually that of those who thought themselves better. They were the ones who deserved to get robbed.
“Felix!!! There you are, why are you just standing there, quick mom is in trouble, you got to help…” An ecstatic voice broke his concentration. Opening his eyes he saw a small blonde headed girl in a dress and bonnet running toward fear evident on her face. As she ran Felix could see strand of hair coming out from under her bonnet.
Eyes snapping open surprise took over Felix calm face as he took a knee so he could look her in the eye,
“Jamie calm down…now tell me; what happened…where is mom…are you okay?”
Jamie choked back a sob, “They grabbed me and mom off the street, and said that if you didn’t accept their ‘generous’ offer this time they would kill us. I managed to bite one of them and get away, I was coming to get you at your work but, you’re here. What do those men want with you anyway?”
Felix looked at his sister; she had a small cut on her right brow; seeing this anger surged through him. “Listen, I am going to take care of this, don’t worry mom will be home in time for dinner. I want you to go over there tell them Pyre said you were to hide in the back…” he pointed to a small building across the street and pulled his knife from his pocket. “…if they give you any trouble about ask for George and show him this.” He said placing the knife in her small hands.
“What are you going to do Felix, don’t be stupid they had guns, they will kill you. You don’t even know where they are or who they were, do you?” Jamie wasn’t about to leave her brother’s side but, she could see by the look in his eye that she had no choice. Reluctantly she turned and walked to the shop the knife clutched in her small hands.
Walking through the streets, Felix worse fear had come and reared its ugly head. Walking straight to James’ door he didn’t even knock instead he slammed the door open taking out someone behind the door. Felix stopped as three men had guns level with his chest, he didn’t look away as he spoke to the gunmen “Let me speak with your boss, James, he recently came across something that I must get back.” Felix spit out the words as if they were poison. He heard a scream escape as someone opened a door in the back, making his pulse quicken and his fists clenched even tighter as a voice so menacing spoke to him.
“Ah, Pyre so nice of you to join me, or do you prefer Felix?” James greeted him with a sarcastic tone “Your mother has told us so much about you…Felix…but, if you want to see her you will do exactly as I ask, if not you will be lynched and your mother…well let’s just say we’ll have some fun before we kill her as well.” James walked to him his face so calm and collecting that Felix had to fight the urge to run as the man walked closer. At the peak of his height James maybe stood 5’4 and as thus only came up to Felix stomach. “Now, I assume that our escapee got to you but, oh well I guess one will have to do and we do know where you live. It would be such a shame if your home burned with your whole family trapped inside.”
At this last statement Felix could no longer control his anger and rage he grabbed the shorter man by the neck and brought him up to eye level. Struggling to keep his voice calm Felix spoke very low “Tell them to put their guns away and to bring my mother out here. For you sake I hope she isn’t hurt ‘cause for every injury she has you will too…”
“You heard him; you idiots get her out here and put down the damn guns.” He choked, as the door to the back was opened and an older woman with disheveled covering the black eye and numerous cuts on her face.
Felix spoke to her very sure of his words “Mom, get out of here, Jamie is waiting for you at the general store off main street. You need to go get her and go straight home; I promise I will tell you and pa everything when I get home.” Felix watched as his mother limped out the door, as he continued to hold James by the neck
“…if I come home I—.” He was cut off as the person he’d knocked out with the door slid a rope over his neck, forcing him to let go of James. The rest of the thugs ganged up on him forcing him to the ground. From outside Felix heard an engine start, slowly he realized what was about to happen. Then James came into his field of vision once more an evil grin spread across his face.
“I told you, you would be sorry to cross me, and now you will be an example to everyone in this town. I know I said I’d kill your family first but, I can make an exception; just know that they will die afterwards so you won’t be alone for too long.” Punching him in the mouth James got up and walked to the door signaling the truck to go.
The last thing Felix saw before all went black was James’ evil grin and bruised neck. The sun was high as Felix was dragged through the city behind the truck but, Felix felt no pain he was gone before he even got dragged out of the house.
“What happened to me, I remember dying but, I can still see and hear.” Felix thought as he looked at a mangled body in the street. “Who is that? Wait is that…me? There was something I was supposed to stop but, I…I can’t remember.” he closed his eyes trying to clear his head but, that didn’t help any. A horrible high pitch humming in his head, made his thoughts even more jumbled than they already were.
It was the smell of smoke that finally brought him out of own personal purgatory, looking west he saw smoke rising high and then from somewhere in the back of his mind he remembered an evil voice saying “…It would be such a shame if your home burned with your whole family trapped inside.” Running and yelling for help Felix ran all the way to the city limits and looked behind him, no one seemed to notice him, or the smoke.
Felix made it to the house just as the flames were rising to the roof, he could hear the cries of children as the temperature in the house rises, “No…why don’t they try to escape?” then he saw the problem, someone had barricaded the doors by parking an old farm truck in front of the door. “Why should I care, do I know these people…No, it’s not right they should have a chance, at the least.” Placing both his hands on the front of the truck he tried to push it out of the way. It didn’t move, “No…I can’t let them die…I don’t know why but, my gut tells me they are important somehow.”
Placing his hands once again on the front of the truck he pushed with all his mind, heart and strength. Felix was so intent with what must be done he didn’t notice the blue light radiating from his hands suddenly the truck flew forward, as if it had been thrown like a baseball. “Whoa…What was that?
The door to the house flew open and seven children and two adults flooded out coughing their faces covered with smoke. None saw him save for the youngest girl. “Felix…Mom Felix saved us, Felix is alive see! Felix is alive!” She pointed right at him but, the others didn’t even look at him.
“Um…you can see me? You know me, who are you? Who am I? Where am I?” For some reason his gut said he could trust her but, his head didn’t even know who she was…
“Jamie, my name is Jamie…your little sister, you told me to go and hide earlier today, remember?” She fished around in her pockets and pulled out something. “You gave your knife don’t you remember, the knife you’ve carried for over 17 years.” She held out the knife for him to take then, looking behind him fear replaced the joyous look on her face. “Who are you?”
Turning around Felix saw a man dressed in a black robe a serious look on his face and a…Sword on his hip? Stepping in front of Jamie, Felix stood tall and prepared to fight, if he was looking for a fight he would get it. “And just who are you and what do you want with them?”
“Normal never suited me I don’t think, I don’t know what a shinigami is but, it sounds like a challenge and…”Felix looked back at the little girl ash raining down on her hair and clothes as she stared through tear stained eyes. “But I feel as if I want to give normal a shot this time around if that is okay with you.” As Felix started to walk off with the shinigami he turned and looked at Jamie, the tears flowing from her eyes as she cried. Seeing this he walked to her and took a knee placing both of his hands on her shoulders. “You…stay out of trouble because if you ever, get into trouble I’ll be back and you don’t want that.” She looked up at him wiping the tears from her eyes as she nodded saying nothing as he continued his goodbye.
“You take care of that knife too, and watch over everyone okay, I’m going to leave now but, I’ll be watching.” Hugging her Felix kissed her on the forehead and rejoined the shinigami once more. “Sorry I had to say my goodbye, to my little sister but, I am ready to leave now."
“Good then close your eyes, this will probably be the last time you see this world.” The man slowly drew his sword and with the pommel stamped his forehead. The only thing Felix felt was relaxing warmth swirling around him and then a comforting Darkness as he fell into a deep sleep.
Years in the Shinigami Academy
Felix spent the next twenty years simply roaming around the Rukongai’s outer districts feeling sorry for himself and wallowing in his loneliness. He found out four things about himself in those years, the first being that he had a love of fighting that bordered on insane. The second being that he was much stronger than he had once thought, able to run faster and longer and hit harder than just about anyone he had run into in the outer regions. The third thing he discovered about himself was that whenever he did fight afterwards he was consumed by ravenous hunger; so much so that occasionally he would black out. Finally and probably the most vexing of all is that aside from waking up in the middle of a wooded clearing he had no memory of his life before roaming the outer circles.
It was during one of these black outs that Felix was found by a patrolling shinigami. When he awoke to the sight of a short brown haired shinigami standing over him, Felix was ready to fight for his escape and on his feet in an instant. Though his hunger threatened to overcome him Felix still managed to struggle to his feet.”I don’t know why you are here, but in my experience waking in the presence of a shinigami never ends well. This time you’re going to have to kill me because I am not going back to that prison.” Felix spoke as he raised his arms to fight the shinigami clenching his fists so tight that the knuckles turned white.
“I don’t plan on harming you, just settle down before I have to restrain you.” The shinigami spoke with a calm voice trying to calm Felix before he did anything that he would regret. “I found you out here in one of the outer districts passed out; I was wondering if you could tell me why you were in such a condition.” The reaper smiled gently with both hands hidden in his sleeves and his brown sheathed zanpakuto in tucked into the belt at his waist.
Felix just stared blankly at the shinigami as he tried to think of a way out that didn’t involve fighting the shinigami or being injured himself trying to fight the shinigami off. Just as he had decided to bolt his stomache growled as the pain of hunger hit Felix in a fresh wave of agony. As he collapsed back to the floor Felix growled in anger as he heard the shinigami laughing at him, “What’s so funny, if I wasn’t in so much pain right now you would be a dead man.”
The reaper squatted down beside Felix as he pulled out a rice cake from his sleeve and offered it to him, “Here eat this it will help with the pain.” Felix snatched it away and quickly devoured it as food was a rare delicacy that the outer circles of the Rukongai rarely ever saw.
“How is that supposed to help with the pain, I am dead the dead do not need to eat.” Felix asked a little surprised that the pain had already started to fade.
“Normal Spirits don’t get hungry, however those with a higher-than-normal level of power do develop hunger and they tend to either die of starvation or they attend the Academy to Shinigami.” The brown haired shinigami spoke with an edged voice and his next question changed Felix’s life forever “So what will it be do you wish to starve and die or do you want to learn to use that power for the lawful side?”
Felix spent the next few decades attending the classes of the Spirit Academy and learning the ways of the shinigami, though he excelled at his hakudo and zanjutsu classes Felix sevearly lacked the concentration or control that called for when it came to kido able to only use basic spells. Thanks to his years of experience running from shinigami in the Rukongai Felix was easily able to hold his own when faced with the hoho portion of his classes.
It was during his time at the academy that Felix truly felt that he “belonged” for once. He actually found himself eager to attend classes and spar knowing that if he failed to beat one of his opponents that it wouldn’t end with him on the end of a sword like it would have back in his Rukongai roaming days. Felix was, for loss of better words, happy for the first time since he died.
That all changed after he gained and discovered the name of his zanpakuto, after that his entire being changed into what most people see of him today. His classmates often described him as having a taint of madness from the battle for control with his zanpakuto’s spirit, others say he actually lost the battle of with his zan and it is actually that spirit walking around and that Felix is the one sealed within the sword. The Truth was however the images that he was forced to see when on the quest for his sword left him shattered inside. His sword had made him look inside of himself and showed him a possible future if he were to wield his blade for his own gain rather than the protection of others.
Though scarred, Felix still managed to graduate the Academy to become a shinigami. Now he simply waits for a squad to accept him as a new graduate of the academy.

Name: Gin ôkami
Translation – Silver Wolf
Felix carries this massive 5ft Chinese broadsword slung upside down on his back, with the hilt towards his left hand. He normally relies on his hand to hand skills in a fight; he won’t even draw his sword unless he absolutely has too. When he does draw his sword normally most people are surprised that he only uses one hand when fighting with his massive sword.
Name: SilverFang QuickClaw (Or just Fang for short)
Fang takes the form of a old silver furred wolf with armor similar to that of a samurai. His back legs are wrapped like a warrior before they put on the shin guards. He is carries himself with pride never showing any shame whatsoever when it comes to his many scars. Though he is a veteran of many battles Fang is still very muscular, due to the active life style he choose to live. When standing on all fours he is able to look Felix in the eyes
Fang is an easy going wolf, though he has a battle scarred and blood soaked past, he chooses now to live the life of a lone wolf. He is active always found running the forest of Felix’s inner world. Fang is a proud wolf always preaching to Felix how the moral high ground isn’t always the easiest path to walk, but it pays off in the long run.
Relationship to Master
Fang looks at Felix as a new pup to the pack, and has taken it upon himself to teach him the ways of being a wolf. Though he was reluctant to accept Felix as his new wielder at first Fang has come to see the potential that lies dormant with his young partner. He is always supportive of Felix when he fights for the good fight and is the first to bite him if he chooses a less moral path to walk. Felix values Fang’s advice and asks for it during most situations; though at times he views Fang as arrogant and stuck up when he starts bragging about his many kills and scars.
Felix’s inner world takes the form of a large forest with trees of all kinds. In the center of his world is a Large clearing with an great ancient rowan tree with a hollowed out trunk, though it appears to still be alive. Inside of this tree Fang has made his den complete with a stoned in fire pit that always seems to have a nice inviting fire burning warmly in it; though there is no evidence that it ever burns the wood in the pit.
Call Out Phrase: Bare your Fangs! Gin ôkami!
Translation – Bare your Fangs! Silver Wolf!
Gin ôkami takes the form of a kusarigama with a round metal weight attached to one end of a twelve foot chain and a curved sickle on the other. When first summoned the excess length of chain wraps around Felix’s waist while the sickle is firmly in one hand and the weight dangling about 3 feet from his other hand. (Roughly 3 feet is wrapped around his waist at first if I did my math right.) When fighting Felix fights very fluidly alternating from slinging the weight on one end to sling the sickle on the other, wrapping parts of his body with the chain to aim it with a sort of haphazard method.
- Description of Attack – Felix will start by swinging the bladed-end of his kusarigama parallel to himself so fast that in will appear to be a solid ring of silver, that just barely misses the ground as it swings, once the spinning reaches this stage he starts to siphon his own spiritual energy into the blade so that it starts to form a ring of energy in the wake of the blade path as it spins. Once he is ready to attack Felix launched the blade at his target, causing the ring of energy to surge forward in the same path as the blade. It will continue to travel in a straight line until it runs out of steam or hits a target.
- Type - Offensive
- Range - 10 meters
- Limitation - The spiritual energy needed to use the attack is about 10% of Felix’s total reservoir of energy. Though lower tiers may find it difficult to block it with their sword; those of a higher tier could probably block this maneuver with their bare hands. This technique is one of the simplest that Felix knows as such is only takes him a matter of seconds to charge and fire. While preparing this attack Felix maintains his ability to move, until he decides to fire the technique at which point he must stand in one spot to avoid harming himself or his zanpakuto by getting caught in the backside of his own energy ring. Felix is unable to use this ability consecutively as it takes him a minute or two to gather the focus in order to shape his spiritual energy into the ring (one post cool down)
Gauntlets of the Armored Wolf
- Description of Attack – This technique is one that Felix invented after he watching some gangsters movies in the living world when he snuck off when on a trip with the rest of his class. He wraps the chains around his forearms and then uses it to block an opponent’s blade. He can also wrap the chains around the knuckles of his right hand to punch an opponent and use the sickle as the weapon it is.
- Type - Defensive/Offensive
- Range - Self
- Limitation - This tech uses no spiritual pressure as it is mainly used in physical combat, though when defending the chains do little to cushion the impact of blow they will in most cases prevent Felix from getting his arms all cut to hell. When using this technique Felix can only use the sickle to attack as one would normally use such a weapon (i.e. no slinging it by the chain just a simple slash, hack or stab) and the weight is completely useless. The excess chain that isn’t wrapped around his arms is left loose behind his back and gives him just enough slack to put both arms straight out in front of him. Because this ability is purely physical in nature it has many weaknesses, first it cannot be used to deflect the range attacks and is utterly useless against an energy/elemental assault. Second when used as an offense Felix is as vulnerable as anyone else is when fighting hand to hand against a weapon such as a sword or a spear. Third When fighting a group of opponents Felix has to constantly watch his back for if one of the opponents was to get behind him and grab the slack in the chain they would basically immobilize his arms until they give him enough slack to unwrap himself, because like a Chinese finger trap the tighter the chains are pulled the tighter they get on his arms.

Felix’s First Day
As the sun rose at his back Felix looked at gate that symbolize the first good change in his life since he awoke twenty years ago in a clearing in one of the outermost circles of the Rukongai. I must be crazy to do this with a second thought. Here I have spent close to two decades avoiding the shinigami and those like them that enforce the law and now I am going to a school to learn to be like them. A hard sigh crossed his lips as he picked up the patched together sack that held everything he owned and threw it over his shoulder with his right arm.
As he looked down at the threshold that marked the entrance to the academy Felix started to have thoughts of turning and leaving but the brown haired shinigami’s words were hung heavy in his mind, Not like that reaper gave me much of a choice, become a reaper or die from the pain of starvation. Taking his last breath as a free man Felix held his breath as he stepped over the threshold and officially entered the academy grounds.
Looking down at the scrap of paper the reaper had given him Felix frowned as all the paper had on it were numbers. Felix frowned in frustration, What kind of person give another person numbers as direction and hopes him to find his way on that?
Felix thoughts were storming when he say a student running along the outside corridors obviously in a hurry to get somewhere. Chasing after the student Felix caught up to them and placing a hand on their shoulder stopped them to ask directions.
The female student was smaller than Felix only about 5ft tall and blonde haired with blue-green eyes. Unlike most people who upon first meeting shrunk away from Felix due to his appearance this girl stood her ground. Her high pitched voice was steady when she spoke to him, “Residents of the Rukongai aren’t permitted to wander around inside the academy.”
“Well, I am not a resident or actually I guess I still am, but I was given this by a shinigami and he told me to come here, but I can’t figure out what these numbers mean.” He held the paper out to the student as he examined her and the way she was dressed. So students wear robes of white with a symbol on the chests I guess that indicates their level of training. It smells as though they are expected to bathe regularly as well, if anything else that is a plus from what I am used to…maybe this won’t be so bad after all.
“This is a room and building number, The room number is the first three and the building is the fourth and the floor is the fifth number. The building you want is right down that way the one next to the wall.” The girl pointed in the opposite direction than where she was headed and then with a quick look at him she added, “You will get assigned a dorm and given a uniform as well so you don’t look like a begger.” With that the girl turned and started running to wherever she had to go.
BEGGAR? Felix frowned a little as he looked at his clothes, they weren’t much but at least they were clean. Still compared to her he did look like a street urchin. Turning to the way the girl pointed Felix put his hands behind his head and smiled. “Maybe it won’t be so bad after all.”
