Have anyone else noticed that the characters who really have a lot of potential to maybe be as strong as, if not stronger than, Ichigo never reveal their bankai. I always thought that Urahara was possibly the strongest character on the show (consider me naive if you must) and I thought it was just coincidence, but I noticed that Shinji also never uses his bankai. His fight with Aizen is interrupted and he never got the chance.
Maybe this is just lack of fight time, but I mean against some of the opponents they've fought, you'd think they'd at least go all out with it...
(Anyone else have an opinion on this? )

Yeah me and a friend noticed that a while ago, and over all i always hated ichigo. Even in the beginning if you can believe that. Honestly (and most everyone knows this about me) I just want Ichigo killed off, sure Hichigo might die in the process, but really? Ichigo is still gonna be the main character even if he loses his power? Oh wait, he can gain it back? Oh happy days. (Sarcasm) Sorry I'm getting a little off topic. The face is, yes they did do that and all it was, was so Ichigo could have his save the day moment. But then its taken away from him by Kisuke and that made me laugh. It was kind of a middle finger to ichigo, so i liked it XP. Sorry if i rambled....

Well, I watched an English subbed version of the Shinji-Aizen fight. And, Shinji was winning, yeah, Aizen cut him (once) but that was it. I'm sure his bankai is even crazier with so other optical illusion going on. (I actually have no clue about his bankai, because, thanks to Ichigo no-one got to see it -.-) And, I get what you mean, a lot is done in Bleach just so Ichigo can keep the heroics going. That's why I kind liked the first fight in Hueco Mundo when Chad and Uryu pretty much told him to calm it and let someone else fight for once. (I giggled actually.)

Ogi, you don't trade off main characters unless you're making a spin-off series.
