General Information
--------------------
Name: Maiko Ryuu
Age: 150
Gender: Female
Appearance
Maiko’s hair is a strikingly beautiful shade of mahogany, though it is rather short. If she let her hair down, it would reach to her bottom of her shoulder blades. However, she takes the majority of it, and lays it over her right shoulder to lay on her bosom. Her eyebrows are thin and delicate, plucked as soon as a new hair grows out of place. Her eyes are an alluring amber, almost to the point that they appear golden. Her nose, lips, and eyes are all rather small. Her ears are free, rather than attached.
She has a pasty skin complexion, despite her numerous tanning sessions. Maiko bears a natural blush that is highlighted due to her skin tone. Her smile is a rare occurrence, as she usually just shrugs away. As for the attire she wears; it consists of a red kimono with a black dragon that wraps around her shoulders and settles at her bosom. She wears a sash around her waist that is white, with a lotus flower on the front.
Personality
Maiko’s number one trait is her extreme loyalty. She will do whatever, whenever, for those that she has pledged herself to. Those people would be her “family”, those who share her house, and close friends. No matter what they do, well or bad, she shall remain by their side until they physically hurt her. Mental abuse from her friends, or superiors, is something that she doesn’t register. It’s not that she is stupid, her conscious just blocks against it as a form of defense.
She is obsessed with beauty, and also the lack thereof. When out in the Rukon, she will often comment on the appearances of people, places, or things. Maiko isn’t the type to consider multiple things “ugly”, and she does concede to the beauty of others if she sees fit. She isn’t vain either, and doesn’t consider herself the epitome of attraction. In fact, she feels as if she is just average compared to others.
Obsession is the common theme with her, and the last one she has is with vengeance. She has no reasons to avenge anything, or anyone, at the moment. However, when she feels the need to avenge then she becomes a bloodthirsty killer. Her sights only on completing her vengeance, she becomes mindless. No amount of talking, soothing, or comprimising can take her out of the state. Of course, that's only when she is in the vicinity of the person that made her need revenge. Without them being near, it is on her mind, however she can control her emotions and actions.
In general, she is a rather sweet woman. She enjoys making new friends, and pleasing others. Taking walks in the forest, throughout her district, just trying to see the silver lining. She hates upsetting others, if they have done her no harm.
History
Maiko was born in Chengdu, China but her birth name was Ma Xing. Times were relatively peaceful all around, and she had a very good childhood. There was not much war going around, which was always good. However, once she got into her teenage years the peace would be finished for her. Her father had slowly begun to lose his morals, and took up drinking and gambling. At first, it was barely noticeable. A knickknack at some points, and some money there was not a problem. He drank too much one night and he bet the freedom of his only daughter.
Deep in anguish, her mother went into action quickly. She began gathering false papers for her to use, as an escape plan. The next day, her mother sent her off to live with her cousin in Japan. Despite her mother’s fervent attempts to save her life, the cruelest act of irony struck as they would be attacked on the way there, and brutally murdered.
Her life as a soul, at first, was not all that different. This was only her fault, as her mind had put up a coping barrier so that she needn’t feel the sadness of death. So she became a recluse and simply sat inside of a house for a few years. Never once moving, never once speaking, she just sat. There did come a day when she finally settled to her life, and ventured out through the city of Japan. She befriended a fellow soul, whose name was Joo. They hung out together for the period of five months, and they had a blast.
”Oi, Joo-Joo have you ever wanted to leave this place? You know, go travelling?” she asked, curiously, as they sat on swings watching the sunset.
”Nah! I have the good life right now! No need for water or drinking, no need to eat, no need for the bathroom. Just fun, and relaxing! he exclaimed with a huge grin. She couldn’t help but smile with him, as the sun went down.
Or, more accurately, the sun was blocked out. Their laughter quickly faded as they looked up and a black beast roared at them. They ran the moment it opened its mouth, and they didn’t take a second look back. They were faster, but the problem was the beast’s size and in a few long strides it had caught up. In a heartbreakingly quick moment, her friend was gone. She dropped to her knees and began lamenting the loss of her only friend. As the bestial entity attempted to devour her next, he was promptly sliced in half. A man who appeared like the grim reaper, and, before she could thank him, he hit her in the head with the pommel of his sword.
She awoke with no recollection of her past life, as if she had been living in the place she was for her whole life. She walked outside of the mundane hut that she shared with a few others, and braced herself for the harsh onslaught of the sun that was sure to ensue. Junrinran was the district in which she would be living for her life. And life was going pretty nicely for her. She had a small job selling fruits, and it helped support her enough.

The sun shining marvelously, not a single cloud in sight. The smaller children of the Rukon were laughing as they played in front of the stores and houses. The air was clear and had a bit of a floral smell to it. Maiko smiled up into the sky, as she took a long inhale. It was days like this that she truly enjoyed her life. Haru, an elderly man who lived many houses down, gave her money as he picked the fruits he wanted.
"The Amantasu and Plum are very ripe at this moment, I'd highly recommend them!" she smiled as she threw out suggestions for the man.
"But I don't have enough money for both..." he frowned, sadly.
She grinned as she took out money from her kimono, and gave it to him. "Yes you do, now take your fruit home to Jii and the children. And have a wonderful day!" her convivial voice chimed out to him.
He thanked her and walked away with a smile. She basked in the feeling of happiness, and pride. She loved helping her friends, and the elderly. She closed up shop, and played ball with a few of the kids there. After about half an hour, she decided that she would take her daily walk through the woods. Her usual path was paved with Azalea flowers, specially planted by her. As she walked, she breathed in the smell of the grass, flowers, and just nature.
She took a seat among a field of flowers. Laying down, she stretched out and stared into the sky.
"The sun is rather atrocious...but the sky makes up for it. It's beauty is as immutable as the power of gods. How lovely!" she softly declared.
As she lay, her thoughts began to cross over all the ugly things in the world. Death, feces, the grotesque houses they live in, the avarice of others, certain fruit. She went on for a little, before she felt like she needed to make a U-turn.
Her thoughts drifted to the more beautiful things of life. She turned to her side, as the pictures of things she thought of drifted throughout her mind. Children, charity, flowers, love, the sky, the elderly. She smiled as the beauty of the world enveloped her in a delightful warmth. She got up and stretched once more, as she slowly walked home enjoying the most beautiful thing of all...
Life.
