He is appears to be a tall (6 foot 3), somewhat long-limbed young man in his early twenties, with an athletic build but little muscle tone. His hair is raven-black and shaggy, his bangs falling just above his eyes. He has a cowlick near the back of his head, making a few strands of hair perpetually stick up, which makes him look hilarious when he doesn't smooth them down. His eyebrows are of medium thickness and taper slightly on the end pointing away from the center of his face. His eyes are a mix of green and blue, with a thin ring of hazel around the pupils. They are very expressive, and you can tell what he's thinking easily by looking into them. His nose is of a medium size and the tip of it curves upwards slightly. He is rather thin-lipped, with his bottom lip protruding slightly. He has a slight overbite and his teeth show signs of expensive dental work. His chin is somewhat pronounced, not quite receding but definitely not a jutting chin. His skin is fair, and without any notable blemishes.
He has a somewhat thin neck, leading down to sloping shoulders which sit atop a moderately thin torso, not showing much muscle tone at all. His arms and fingers are long, and show more signs of muscle than his torso or legs. His legs are long and make up a lot of his height, making him look kind of like a giraffe. Overall he is considered quite attractive, though his somewhat off putting personality makes relationships difficult.
His taste in clothing is focused on formal and semi-formal wear, his wardrobe consisting of custom tailored button-up shirts and ties of various colors, slightly-too-large suit jackets (To make him look broader) and slacks, which are slightly loose at the crotch, (To make his torso look a little bit longer) and dress shoes. He does have some regular t-shirts, jeans, khakis, sneakers and the like, as well. He has a favorite leather motorcycle jacket which is black and white and features a two-headed dragon motif on the back.
Personality
Johnny is a polite, quiet, hardworking guy. He doesn't talk much and is pretty introverted, but doesn't seem particularly shy, as he will not hesitate to socialize if the need arises, but is slow to display any emotion. Part of this is social awkwardness. When he does show emotion, it is passionate but subtle and those who don't know him might not notice the difference. When someone manages to move him to anger, by that point he is very, very angry. He is rather frightening when he's like this, with a piercing stare and a certain set of the jaw that makes people uneasy and quick to apologize. He is normally very determined and headstrong in achieving his goals, but recent events have made him tired and he has begun to start just giving up at times.
He has a particular hatred of hollows, though he is unaware of what they are or why they follow him, as they have pretty much consumed his life. He seems surprisingly confident and knowledgeable for someone of 'his age'. (As he appears quite a bit younger than he really is) He has a desire to get into relationships and friendships, but lacks the social skills to do so. The only thing that seems to make him open up and show real happiness is when he plays his saxophone or when he runs.
He has a very cold, nearly monotone way of speaking that makes people think he is unsociable. Added to that is the fact that he never seems to have time to go out and socialize, which makes him hard to befriend. And he has a way of keeping his friends at arms length, partly out of fear that they may be harmed because of him and partly because he's afraid that if they find out about his abilities (and the problems that come with them) they may leave him. He is fluent in both the English and Japanese languages, though English is his first language.
He has a very graceful, self-assured way of walking that makes him stand out in the crowd almost as much as his height and (comparatively) light skin. Whereas some people with longer limbs would seem awkward in their movements, he takes advantage of them and it shows. He often walks with a slight slouch, and appears to stare off into the distance, avoiding peoples' eyes unless there is something specific he wants to look at. His fighting style is a mixture of conventional boxing and dirty tricks, such as targeting the throat or eyes, throwing things as distractions, and running away only to ambush the enemy as they give chase. When enraged, he becomes truly terrifying, brutal and ruthless with no inhibitions.
History
He was born to 48-year-old police commissioner Nathaniel Grimm, and his wife, 45 year old Jean Hernandez-Grimm. The Grimm family was quite wealthy, and lived in a large, spacious home in the central coast area of California, (In the USA) just outside of the small town of Alma. Nathaniel was a stern but kindly man who valued humility and dedication despite his wealthy background, and Jean was a former party girl who was always ready to dispense a kind word or advice to those in need. They were a happy trio, and though Johnny seemed to grow a little slowly, it didn't really seem like a big deal. Eventually it came time to send little Johnny off to school, and unfortunately he was not a big hit with the other children. He was small and scrawny compared to all his peers, and tended to be bullied and pushed around because of it. This coupled with his natural introversion led him to have a difficult time making friends. Despite this, he learned fast and was well-behaved, so there weren't any real glaring problems. Every kid had encounters with bullying.
Time went on, and eventually Johnny left gradeschool for middleschool. He was still smaller than all of his peers, and with hormones raging the bullying intensified. It was around this time he discovered his thus-far hidden anger issues. One day, he simply got fed up and beat the everloving shit out of his tormentor. He was not exactly skilled with combat (He had never done so before, after all) but his pumping adrenaline and instinct won it for him. By the end of it, the bully had a concussion and was bleeding profusely from the arm. (Johnny had bitten a chunk out of it.) Obviously, this went over poorly with the staff, and both students were suspended for a week. (And the only reason that Johnny got of so lightly was that there were several witnesses that backed up the claim that it was in self defense. It wasn't, really, but everyone hated the bully.) After this, the bullying stopped completely. Johnny was honestly shocked that he hadn't thought of it before. The rest of middleschool was fairly uninteresting, though.
Then, Johnny moved on to high school. Many of his friends had transferred to a different school in a nearby town, so Johnny joined a club or two so he wouldn't be on his own. He had recently had a massive growth spurt, (Making him nearly the size he is now!) and considered joining a sport. He ended up with the boxing club and the track team. He enjoyed both clubs immensely and formed fast friendships within. He was most involved with track, as running had become very enjoyable for him. Eventually, he heard of a sport called Parkour that sounded interesting. He gave it a try, and found it a load of fun. His long limbs made it a little difficult to vault over things, but with practice he became actually rather graceful. The boxing club was interesting, as he was an outboxer, staying on the outside, but he was exceptionally durable and nearly impossible to put down, giving even far more powerful punchers a lot of trouble. He specialized in using his endurance to sit back and analyze the opponent as well as wait for them to tire out, then hitting them with a barrage of blows back where they couldn't touch him. (Even then his limbs were unusually long.) His footwork was exceptional as well, and he was very difficult to put off-balance.
At some point during the latter years of his highschool career, his powers began to truly awaken and he was visited by a pair of hollows. (Detailed below) the encounter put him in the hospital, and wrecked his car. It was a few weeks before he encountered another one, which he managed to defeat. He made the decision then to practice with his newfound powers so he could better defend himself from the creatures he kept encountering. Eventually though, the attacks became more frequent, and it began cutting into his personal life. He started being attacked at all times of the day, sometimes as close to his home as his backyard. He had figured out that nobody else could see these things, and that they mostly ignored them. This revelation was partly a relief, but also worrying, as it meant he was truly alone in this. He became quite worried that his battles with the monsters would end in his friends or family getting caught in the crossfire, and chose to move away.
He was looking to study abroad anyways, and eventually decided on Japan. He continued his education there. Eventually during this time, his parents passed away. He returned home for the funeral. It was devastating, (of course) but they had lived a good life. From this, he inherited a massive sum of money, enough for him to live on for a long time. He moved back to Japan, and eventually settled in a town called Karakura, playing his saxophone in bars for pocket money. (Not that he needed it all that much, but it was good to have a little bit of income, as well as the fact that he immensely enjoyed it.) He has saved the majority of his money and lives mostly on the cash he gains from this job. His living arrangements are comfortable, but not expensive, a medium-sized, tidy apartment. He has begun encountering the beasts from his highschool days here in Karakura as well, much to his distress, but at least he has more time in the day to deal with it now..

Spiritual Awakening
His abilities only started truly awakening once he was sixteen, and went largely unnoticed until he met his first hollow(s). (The few ghosts he saw were largely the freshly-dead and he overlooked them as normal people.) Until that point he was just thought of as a late bloomer, as he was always shorter and younger-looking than his peers in school (Though not nearly to the degree that he is now.)
Discovery of Powers
The night his powers truly awoke was a very exciting and traumatic experience for Johnny. He was 17, and on the way back from his summer job, when a hollow, alerted to his presence by his unusual amount of reiatsu, (Gee I hope that's the right one) leaped in front of his car. Johnny panicked and slammed down on the gas (He was going for the brake but messed up, which turned out to be a good thing.) slamming into the hollow at like 90 miles an hour and cutting the thing in half. (It was only slightly larger than human-sized, a weak one) His car was damaged but still working somehow, and he was largely uninjured, though he had opened up a cut above his left eye from slamming into the steering wheel.
He groggily shook himself back to consciousness and checked himself for any broken bones, then exited the car to figure out just what he had hit, but there was no sign of the thing. Just then, another one lumbered out onto the road and roared at him. Still dazed from the crash and his ears ringing, he had barely noticed the thing barreling at him before is crashed into him with all its weight. (This one was a little larger than the other one, and vaguely canine-shaped) It got on top of him after barreling him over, and he struggled to hold the creature back as its jaws snapped at him, inches from his face, and his hands sizzled and burned from its acid touch. But just when his strength started to fail, he felt an energy rising within him and, in a fury, managed to get ahold of both of its jaws and rip them savagely open, unhinging the beast's bottom mask-jaw-thing. It jumped back coughing blood and screeching curses at him. (In spanish, he realized later) As it lunged at him again, he held out his palm and felt the energy rise within him once more. A roughly melon-sized ball of luminescent energy materialized in his palm and began rotating, and the monster ran face-first into it. The ball exploded outwards violently, smashing the hollow's mask and breaking a few of Johnny's fingers. The creature suddenly stopped, and in the rather dim light a darkly tanned human face could be seen. It shrank back, whispering confusedly (still in spanish) and then fled back into the darkness at the side of the road.
Johnny managed to drag himself back into his car and drove to the nearest hospital. (His phone was smashed in the ordeal and he was too delirious from blood loss and shock to check anyway) Luckily, the wrecked car managed to make it there before chugging its last, never to be started again. (Sob sob, sniff) He staggered weakly to the door of the emergency room and placed his hand on the door, leaning on it and slumping to the ground, leaving an ominous bloody streak going down the door. Quickly, people noticed and he was cared for. He never forgot this encounter once he recovered, nor the subsequent encounters that would happen afterwards.
Abilities Description
His spiritual abilities are focused mainly on concussive force and piercing, rather than burning or cutting. His techniques are simple but highly destructive, though if he's not careful they can backfire and injure him.
Other Specialty Items
Saxophone - His saxophone. Has a lot of precious memories associated with it, as it was a gift from his mother when he was a child.
Car - His car, specifically a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang painted black with white racing stripes. He is still upset about the loss of his previous car. (Though this one is much nicer)
The Dissuader - A wooden nightstick that was an heirloom from his father. An effective bludgeon, though he is not really trained in its use and keeps it mounted on his wall anyways.

Abilities, First Stage

Spiritual Infusion
- Description of Attack - About a third of his spiritual energy is being fed into his body, affecting his healing. He doesn't heal any faster, really, but he does heal better. Due to this, he is much less prone to permanent damage or scarring than your average person. As a strange side effect, it has dramatically slowed his aging as well. He is largely unaware of this ability's existence.
- Type - Passive
- Range - N/A
- Limitation - Since this ability improves his healing, his muscles now often simply return to the state they were before use instead of knitting back together stronger. As such, he has to exercise twice as much to gain half the muscle. Also, he is unable to turn it off, and it cuts the amount of energy he has available for use by a third, giving him limited use of his abilities.
Bang
- Description of Attack - This attack creates a ball of fast-rotating spiritual energy in Johnny's hand that will smash through everything in its path until it loses momentum, at which point it will explode violently outwards in all directions. The ball is roughly baseball-sized. It reacts violently to other constructs of spiritual energy, exploding upon contact with them rather than plowing through. (This includes spiritual beings like hollows and shinigami)
Tier Chart: -2 Tiers Below: This attack is very damaging and opponents should definitely take hits sparingly, lest they suffer severe injury.
1 Tier Below: This attack is quite damaging and will likely knock the breath out of an enemy, and potentially cause some fractures, but is unlikely to be fatal without repeated, direct hits.
Equal Tiers: The attack is dangerous but not particularly so, enough to wind an opponent momentarily or if a direct hit is made to the head, a minor concussion, stunning the opponent. Enough repeated impacts could be more dangerous, however.
1 Tier Above: The attack isn't particularly threatening to the opponent, about equivalent to a long-range punch in the face, though they are still potent enough to stun an enemy enough to cause an opening for escape, or a more powerful attack.
2+ Tiers Above: The technique is almost completely ineffective, and serves as little more than a distraction. Numerous repeated impacts directly to the head could be damaging to a degree, but no more than any other conventional attack would be, and it would also require being able to land them.- Type - Offensive
- Range - about 10 meters, the explosion is about half a meter in diameter.
- Limitation - While fairly powerful, he can only fire about 10 of them in succession before becoming exhausted. It also has a 'wind up' period of about 2 seconds while it begins rotating in his hand. If anything were to interrupt his concentration during this period, it would explode, possibly injuring his hand.
- He has not developed this ability as of yet.

Johnny awoke to the sun on his face. His eyes opened halfway and he turned onto his side, his blurred vision clearing to reveal the open blinds. He groggily got out of bed and shambled to the bathroom, preparing for a shower. He showered, then shaved and combed his hair. He went to his closet and dressed in a white t-shirt, his favorite black-and-white leather motorcycle jacket, and black jeans. Yawning loudly, he made his way to the fridge and prepared a breakfast of leftovers from the night before. Johnny looked lazily out the window to a disturbing sight. On the rooftop of the building opposite him, he sighted one of those monsters. It was too early for this. It noticed that it had been seen, and teleported or something, fleeing. "Christ, I guess I'll have to deal with that later then." he said in English. He sighed and cleaned up his half-eaten breakfast, deciding to go for a walk. He put on his shoes and stepped outside, walking nonchalantly down to the street and down the sidewalk. While he appeared calm and even a little distracted as he stared blankly in front of him, he was alert and waiting for any indication that his 'secret admirer' had returned. Strangely enough, it seemed to be keeping its distance. Usually they just attacked him immediately. Did that mean that some of them were more intelligent than the others? That was a disturbing thought.
As he reached a small park, he took a seat on a bench and took stock of his surroundings. The place was mostly empty, the bench that he currently sat upon was sheltered by a huge, probably ancient tree, gnarled with age and the remains of different drawings and messages carved into it over the years. Over on the other side of the park, a few kids were playing with a ball in the grass. That wouldn't do. Johnny decided that it would be unwise to linger here very long, if he was attacked here the children could be put in harm's way.
Johnny got up from the bench and continued on his walk, and he got thinking about some things. He had noticed the occasional person that would stare at him when he walked by in the past, and every time he had gotten a strange feeling from them. The first conclusion he had come to was that it was just a coincidence. He had thought about it, though, and wondered that maybe they were people like him. It would certainly explain why there were so many of the monsters here, even more than back home. If one person like him could attract that many, then how many could ten draw here? He would have moved away a long time ago, but he felt like that would be wrong somehow, like he was just running away from his problems. Anyway the creatures seemed to follow him no matter where he went, so there wouldn't be much point. A few minutes in, he stumbled upon a friend from a bar Johnny often performed at. "Hey, Johnny! How have you been?" Johnny snapped out of his deep thought and greeted his acquaintance. "Jirou, it is good to see you." he said in his usual monotone voice. Jirou was a good friend, he never seemed bothered by Johnny's way of speaking or his mannerisms. "You haven't been to the bar lately, we've all been wondering where you went off to." Jirou said, some concern in his voice. "Are you okay?" Johnny gave a shallow nod and replied, "I'm fine Jirou, really. I've just been really busy with some matters from back home." Johnny felt a twinge of guilt for lying to his friend like this, but if he answered honestly he doubted it would go well. Jirou nodded understandingly and said "I see. Well, I really must be going, just try not to be such a stranger, Johnny." Johnny grunted to the affirmative and continued on his way. All this secrecy had really taken a toll on his social life. Johnny idly hoped that one day he'd be rid of the creatures that stalked him from the shadows, but that was probably a pipe dream.
Johnny eventually noticed that he was back home, he had gone in a complete circle. Well, that was surprising. He hadn't been attacked. Maybe his theory was correct and there were other people around with powers, and one of them had taken care of it? Well, he didn't really have anything else to do today, so Johnny decided to just keep wandering about until something interesting showed up..
