With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
While Sayuri never acknowledged the fact herself, but she is in truth even younger than Squad 10's captain, though she looked a dash older than him, and the reality being--she is nearly as powerful as him as well. In fact, she was as strong as a few of Gotei 13's captains. The reality of that did give several of her subordinates in Squad 2, and those of other Squads a bit of pause. Her defeat of Nnoitra during a Hueco Mundo assault upon Seireitei also showed a measure of ability that is among the unique. For these reasonings among others, during a quite active tenure as Vice-Captain, she did manage to gain a fair deal of respect for what she could do and accomplish.
And then she had a mental break down and screwed it all up...
So while the girl possessed certainly impressive amount of ability, she also had an impressive amount of internal issues as well. All of which she tries to mask behind a veil of impassiveness. But of course, as displayed before Soifon, even that falters as well.
The little kunoichi was a bit surprised to hear that her presence was causing some excitement within the Squad 2 barracks. In truth she had always been so obsessively focused on her duties, and thus delegating those duties and assignments to her subordinates accordingly--she never did think about how they viewed her. All she really concerned herself with regards to them if they were well and if they did their job as per ordered. Though Sayuri managed to keep a straight face, she did arch a brow at the realization her sudden presence was causing a stir. Albeit, what kind of excitement her presence caused was the next thing she had to wonder. It could be good or bad.
She planted her hands on the floor turning herself as she remained sitting on her knees in the traditional, proper manner, so now she faced the 3rd seat to address her. Upon resting her hands back in her lap she uttered in turn after Soifon, "Sayuri Sasaki.", offering that simple introduction with a respectful tilt of her head.
She glanced away for a second only moving her eyes, then back at the 3rd Seat, the glance away was but a momentary thought that lead her to inquire, "What sort of excitement?", if she is to lead and delegate her subordinates, she needs to know where they stand if she is to be effective.

Kimiko was glad to be able to come up with some kind of report on short notice, enough to make it look like she wasn't just being one of the lookee-loos that were curious about the returning Sayuri. Her report would've reached Soifon eventually but she had hoped to have a little more information on the stone before she gave it. At least the Captain's affirmative tone and permission to work with squad twelve was positive sounding.
Kimiko listened intently when Captain Soifon said that the ex-vice captain had returned and had been appointed to Fifth seat. It seemed rather lenient for someone who had all but vanished from Seireitei, leaving her post and squad. Kimiko was curious but kept her mouth shut about it. It was hard not to have some reservation about Sayuri's return but the fact that she did return, apparently of her own will, was a good thing. The small girl introduced herself and Kimiko returned her respectful nod.
"My name is Kimiko Kaneko, I look forward to working with you, Sayuri."
Sayuri glanced away and then back with her question.
"What sort of excitement?"
Kimiko allowed herself a slightly relaxed pose and crossed her arms again with a slight smirk, thinking of how the men practically raced from the meeting to see if the rumors were true. It wasn't hard to see that most of them had looked up to her.
"If I had to guess, I'd say they're waiting to see you. You must have had, quite an impact on them..." Kimiko thought a moment and decided to add a small proverb, a comment on Sayuri's leadership. "...Not the cry, but the flight of a wild duck, leads the flock to fly and follow."

She really had no input on the matter at hand, the excitement caused. Even if she did she wasn't going to share it as she'd prolly seem weaker for it.
She silently observed the two talk. It's probably a good thing that they do talk, too. And as she watched she didn't look mad at them, so it should be some hint that she supported them talking to each other.
Soifon debated a moment if she should just dismiss them at this point, but she put it off for a moment to see if they needed anything else. One never knew, and she wouldn't be negligent of the possibility. Of course if they wanted out of here, she wouldn't be mad.
Sayuri canted her head to the right at what the 3rd seat said. A peculiar phrasing of the situation, and with furrowed brow she commented, "So the serpent is a wild duck. If only she had wings, she could more easily take flight to get to her destination."
The little kunoichi for a trice took a moment to herself to think before at last rising to her feet. Very briefly she looked a little pensive whent she was on her feet standing at her full dimunitive hieght. She looked to the door, and turned to walk to the door to take her leave. But after taking a single step, she paused in her tracks.
Her dark eyes narrowed with a gaze of shear determination as she looked back at Soifon, and stated with a firm resolve, "When I first came to Squad 2 from the Onmitsukido Executive Militia, I started in the 5th Seat position. I will not squander this chance you have given me. And the so-called curse will be cracked and shattered to pieces in the palm of my hand once I have prove myself worthy to you again, Soifon-sensei."
She gave another respectful bow of her head to Soifon, and then gave a respectful tilt of her head to the 3rd seat. With that she walked to the door and made her exit. Upon sliding the door closed behind her, she let out a small exhale to relax herself. Though only a few steps outside of the office when she paused. Her eyes narrowed, and suddenly authoratively uttered, "The eight of you hiding in the sakura tree trees, and the four of you behind the walls--get back to your duties! I will not order it again.", it that instant twelve shadowy figures darted off into the night.
Sayuri with a her eyes half-closed in a blase expression crossed her arms under her chest with a non-chalant grunt as she watched the shadowy figures run off...

Sayuri's brow furrowed at Kimiko's words, perhaps she didn't take it the way Kimiko had intended. Sayuri return comment made Kimiko looked at her with maybe a hint of suspicion, then gave a thoughtful hmm and shrug. She watched as Sayuri arose, listening as she decreed that she would defy the curse and prove herself worthy to the captain once more. Sayuri bowed to the captain and nodded to Kimiko before walking outside, Kimiko stuck around for a moment.
She looked back towards Captain Soifon with a questioning glance, looking like she might say something, but then thought better of it. Kimiko bowed respectfully before stepping out just in time to hear Sayuri order the ones who had come to see her back to their duties, so much for any reunion. Kimiko watched the shadowy figures vanish back to their posts.
She watched the men disperse alongside Sayuri and sighed.
"Right to business eh? Not even going to allow yourself or your former comrades a moment for celebrating your return? An end to the curse..."
Kimiko looked kinda wistfully up into the night sky.

“You're dismissed,” she said to Kimiko, kinda irked that Sayuri wandered out without being dismissed. She'll have to work on that some time, but so long as they do what they're supposed to do, it didn't hurt too much.
She decided to go back to work, then, and let the autonomy of her seated officers go back into action.
