With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Down the hall she walked towards the medical ward. The smell of iron filled the air which probably came from the abundant amount of fresh blood that they always see. Various members of squad four sweeping, moping, running around; whatever they did whether it involved cleaning their area to making errands for the ones healing. "This place reaks, havn't they heard of chlorox bleach? Rin mumbled to herself and looked around the area.
Rin, what are you doing here? You're usually not interested in injured people. Planning to transfer to fourth squad or something? Amatsutori, a bright light in a poorly lit room would forever shine with his burning flames. As her zanpakuto spirit, he perched on her left shoulder and spoke to her softly. What does it look like I'm doing? Snooping around for some free sake? She thought spoke kind of snobishly even though she was more on the sarcastic side of things.
Looking onward as she moved forward, she glimpsed inside each room with a side glance. Everyone seemed to be there for some injury of some sort. Looks like she's been missing out on a lot while she had been gone. She even overheard a rumor that the new captain was there with injuries himself. Curious on who this new higher up would be, she wondered around squad four's territory.
"This is going to take forever, and I'm already getting annoyed. Why are there so many rooms? And what's with the injured people? You'd think were in a constant war or something." She grumbled and crossed her arms as she unpleasantly passed by each room. Then there it was, a captain's jacket visibly hung on a chair from a cracked food's view. "Bingo." Rin creeped up by the entrance of the room and like someone snooping around, she peaked in. The light from the room shined on her face as she looked in, but with a slight push from her hand, the door opened for a better look.
After the events in Naruki City, Ningai had been put on bed rest. He had several bandages wrapped around his arms and legs due to several muscle tears. He had been here for a few days now, he would have been restless if it weren't for his constant need to be calm. If he were calm, everyone else would be calm.
His reiastu became so unstable that Ningai had to be here for a week or so, doctor's orders. One of the nurses had finished checking him for the day before Rin even showed up. Ningai just wanted to get some paperwork done, but Suzuka-Taicho was very insistent on this and so Hinata had to take up the task. Yeah, like that is going to happen.
He had a room with a window, so the sun shined in embracing the room with its warmth. Ningai closed his eyes but heard the door move, and let out a sigh. "Enter." He said to the one trying to peek in behind the door. If it were a medical squad member, they would have knocked. It must have been someone curious as to was in the room, or maybe looking for someone in particular that happened to be in the area.
Either way, Ningai didn't mind, as long as it wasn't someone who was rather affectionate at those who got injured. He was far too injured for any sort of embrace other than the sun's at the moment.
Allowing herself in the room, Rin was expecting to see a new captain and a new face. But what she saw when she walked in was the old man from some time ago. This made her smile since it was someone familiar, and without batting an eye; her mood cheered up drastically.
A wide smile across her face, Rin lifted her hand up kind of like Hitler and his Nazis, but more of a motionless wave. "Hey old man! Long time no see! Whatcha doin here all beat up? I see you're still chasing after girls you old pervert you." she winked at the perverted part remembering the time they met. "Looks like you've really outdone yourself now. Ya know, you shouldn't get too close to the vicious ones!" Rin's sarcasm levels were higher than usual today, but that's what happens when she finally sees a familiar face.
Walking up besides his resting place, she bared her teeth in a big smile. Calmly getting closer and closer. Wanting to give a good ol greeting to this good ol friend. She went straight to give him a big ol crushing little girl hug. She remembered his inability to show much emotion. So maybe this'll do something.
Ningai turned his gaze when a familiar face came in, loud as usual. Rin's sarcastic comments were as usual, a way to get him riled up. It wouldn't work though, he was beyond things like that. When she came in close, only one thing came to his mind - hug. "I'd rather you did--" Too late, her girl hug sent a pain up and down his spin from the burns he received.
His face clinched in pain, if not all focused in his eyes. Rin really needed to learn about a thing called personal space. "It's nice to see you again, Rin-san, but do you mind letting me go?" Talking with a hint of discomfort, Ningai tried to get her off with words.
It had been some time since he had seen Rin, but her mannerisms have not changed all that much. There was something off about her, something in her smell, but he could be imagining it. Is that sake? The thought crossed his mind but he was sure she hadn't picked up on that habit.
All he needed was another drunken girl kissing him or hitting him, or both. Tsukuyo really left an impression on him and he would avoid telling Rin that story. Rin would certainly use it against him in some rather unfair means to get favors.
With a smug grin on her face, Rin pulled away from the old timer. She was surprised to see him there, especially all bandaged up. It took a good deal of restraint to keep herself from patting him hard on the back. She was looking at Ningai, but to anyone looking at her, her eyes were probably moving around a bit much. Her face had a touch of pink at the cheeks and maybe her breath smelled a bit. If she hadn't had any sake that day, she probably wouldn't even have had hugged Ningai like that. Her moods as of late have been more down and uncaring.
At the moment, Rin felt great. The sake was finally starting to kick in her blood system and she started to feel a bit hot. Her heart was pumping harder than usual, but no one would know that unless they literally checked. She just stood there all happy go lucky. "Soooo, Ningai what have you been up to lately? Did you get attacked by some random broad again?" She sorta giggled but not really. At this point in time, it would be natural for a drunk to pull out a bottle out of no where and start sipping again. The sake was a great stress reliever for her. Everything wrong seemed to evaporate right out of her body. She almost felt as if she were a heater, especially since things really did feel hot. No wonders people start stripping when they drink. They don't want to suffocate in their own body heat.
"Close," Hinata remarked smoothly, entering the room. She stood, enabled by crutches, and looked to the other vizard with a smirk. She hobbled a little, and then leaned against the wall. Her bad foot was wrapped tightly, and in a cast. It didn't hurt as much anymore, but the nurses told her she had to wait to get it taken off. "Nah, we got attacked by a gay guy. Really flamboyant gay guy. That or he was some kind of bisexual pedophile. Really creepy."
She looked to Rin and tilted her head. She didn't recognize the girl, but she seemed familiar with Ningai. She decided she didn't have to dwell on it - they'd be introduced and the problem would be solved. "Mitani Hinata, third seat of the thirteenth division. I'd offer to shake your hand but they're a little busy right now."
Though she seemed much calmer about the incident with that arrancar, she was concerned about Ningai. She hadn't really seen him since her return, and though she'd filed her report, she'd kept it as brief as possible. It wasn't every day that one found themselves targeted by a man who brought a syringe to a knife fight.
"How're your burns, Ningai?"
Character List "Let's eat, Grandma!" "Let's eat Grandma!" Commas save lives.
Before Ningai could answer and if on cue, Hinata came in on her crutches. Yes, the story about the flamboyant arrancar was true, but did she have to say all that? She did, she really did. Rin would take it in some weird way and try once again to make him get emotional.
"In a matter of speaking, I suppose." He commented on Hinata's report on why he was injured.
He sighed slightly, before he addressed the question. He had not been this injured in some time and he hoped that it would be the last. Iagnin had been forced to run wild in his body did a number to his system. He owes Komamura and Hinata a debt of gratitude.
"Better, though I am to stay here for another week before I can return to duty." Bad news indeed, he wished he could train at the very least, but even that was a no go. He hadn't talked to Kitsune since the event. It was an unnatural silence.
Ningai looked at Hinata's own injury, which was bad in its own right. He had learned of the doll's voodoo like properties while reading reports. She was lucky that the man wanted her alive or he could have done much worse.
