With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
He had had enough. The newly renamed officer of Squad Three walked through the infirmary. He knew who could help him. The captain of Squad Four would be able to reattach his arm. Given, he would need a new one but that wouldn't be nearly as complicated. What was complicated was finding someone able, and willing, to reattach it.
Izaya had asked around and was pointed in the right direction of her office. Everyone thought he would ask for Kin. A few people had pointed him in her direction before he asked for the location of their captain's office. It seemed to take them by surprise. He even heard someone mumble under their breath that he was "trading up." However, he didn't allow these comments to wear on him; he knew where and to whom he belonged. Motivation in mind, he was more than able to find his way to her office eventually.
His tattered and torn jacket covered his body as he had zipped it up. His shoes remained untied and his hakama were all but rags. However, this had only shaken his confidence a little. What had really hurt him was being disowned by his clan. The pain of that still resonated every time someone called him by his old name. The fourth seat hid it well but it was tearing him apart. Accompany that with the fact that Kin had rejected him in a certain manner and he was a wreck. The bags under his eyes were little testaments to that.
With one small rap on her door, Izaya had asked for entry. However, she wasn't Kin and he would need to state his name and the like.
"Yukishiro-taichou, it's Kogi Izaya of Squad Three. May I come in?"
Her brows furrowed in concentration, the white-haired woman glanced down at the report on her desk, her eyes scanning through each word, her mind pulling out every bit of information she could glean from it. It was a document detailing a new type of herb found in one of Rukongai's many mountains, and the potential it had for numerous medicinal uses. While it was true that healing kido did exist for a reason, there was no harm in investigating another method of dealing with minor ailments. Reiatsu needn't be wasted on something as insignificant as superficial incisions or epidermal lacerations.
A quiet knock on her door briefly shook the captain out of her concentration, but she regained it quickly as the guest on the other side identified himself. Kogi Izaya? Yes, that name was familiar, although she was certain the surname had been different. If she recalled correctly, he was still under their care after an encounter with an arrancar that resulted in numerous injuries, including broken ribs and a shoulder disarticulation on the right arm. The name had also been floating around the Division for a few days, usually paired with one Sasaki Kin. Suzuka was not one for gossip, but it did help to know what was going around her Division.
Medicinal herbs would have to wait. Patients with missing limbs were much higher on her list of priorities.
"Please enter, Izaya-san," she called out, placing the report off to the side.
Taking a deep breath, he opened the door. This was it. He had prepared for this. He had to ask her what he needed. He couldn't go on with one arm. Izaya sincerely hoped getting his arm back would fix his reiastu. If not, at least he could be a well-rounded commoner. Two armed commoners were better laborers. It was sad how he was already convinced that he was about to be discharged and forced to live out eternity as a commoner.
Walking in, he felt a little sheepish. Frankly, he was nervous. He didn't know the Captain that well and felt that this was kind of a big thing to ask of someone who you were, at most, barely acquainted with. However, there was some good evidence to show that she would. She was, after all, the captain of the squad who fucking healed people. And he was...in a way...kind of...sort of...involved with one of her subordinates. Izaya assumed that had to count for something.
Izaya looked around the room and saw the captain working. She was at her desk and she had apparently been working on something quite hard. Frowning a little, he figured this might be a bad time for the captain. Maybe he could come back if need be.
"Yukishiro-taichou, is this a bad time? I can come back if need be. You seem to be in the middle of something."
"Yukishiro-taichou, is this a bad time? I can come back if need be. You seem to be in the middle of something."
The captain smiled softly and shook her head, unearthing a folder from a rather large stack on one side of her desk. Marked with the words "Kogi Izaya", the folder contained the medical reports and documents of the aforementioned patient, including charts and other data pertaining to his injuries, including a sketch of the bones that made up what was left of his shoulder. She set the folder down and motioned to a seat in front of her desk, inviting him to take it.
"Please, sit down, Izaya-san. Would you like a cup of tea? I understand the digestion of solid foods is difficult right now, otherwise I would've offered something pleasant to eat."
She looked at the young man, attempting to determine his state of health. He didn't seem to be having too much difficulty walking, and while there was some stumbling around, it was expected with the type of injuries he sustained. There was no expression of pain on his face, which was always a good sign, and for having just lost a full limb it didn't appear to be hindering his overall movement.
Of course, she hadn't been the one to examine him medically, so perhaps there was something more that she missed.
He watched Suzuka as she pulled a folder out from the rather large stack and looked through it for a while. Naturally assuming it was his, Izaya wasn't too concerned about what was in it. He knew it probably included his ribs, arm, and dislocations. That was no news to him. However, what her records didn't show was his konpaku was completely messed up. Her records didn't show that he could in no way manipulate his reiastu. Her records didn't show that Izaya's days as a Shinigami were numbered indefinitely. But he knew all of the above.
He sat down and listened to her offer him tea. It would actually be nice to have something to do with his hands. Ermmm...hand. He had to get used to that. However, did he really want to delay this any more than he had to? Wanting nothing more than to end this quickly, Izaya found a conflict. He really didn't want to seem rude to the captain. After all, he did want her to reattach his arm if need be. The fourth seat decided that he would accept her generosity. No need to upset the captain.
"I would love some tea, Suzuka-taichou. And you're quite correct ma'am, solid food is most uncomfortable. Luckily, I've always liked soup." With that notion he gave a small laugh and smiled at the captain. His joke was small and he hoped that Suzuka-taichou wouldn't think less of him for it. Actually, he really didn't care. Maybe she would find the fact that he could laugh in his situation a form of strength. Certainly, he felt that it took some strength to not fall apart.
