Special Abilities and Specialty Items
[Example of Special Ability]
[Example of Specialty Item]
Special abilities would use the general abilities template, normal rules apply but it can be used to denote hoho and hakuda techniques, as well as swordplay techniques. Would need to add a clarification that possession of these techniques often imply expertise or mastery and so I suggest they be available for upgrade but not a first app. It would take a similar place to an arrancar's unreleased ability set.
Specialty items and Special Abilities have been added to the Kido and Abilities Section and may be applied for use by a single characer or by multiple characters. This may be used to denote learned hoho, hand-to-hand, swordplay, sonido, and miscellaneous kido techniques or combinations. Specialty items may also be applied for. The intent of this section is to allow a catalogue of techniques displayed in canon (ex. Byakuya's cicada molt). They have also been added to the applications of Shinigami, Vizard, and Arrancar.
For shinigami and vizard this will closely relate to an arrancar's unreleased ability set. However, it should be noted that such techniques are generally displays of expertise and thus characters must be of reasonable strength (generally A-tier) to preform them. Kido and Hoho techniques will be restricted to characters who either specialize in either kido or hoho or are at least high tier, if not both.
Players may apply for specialty techniques with regular upgrades.
Specialty items may be applied for by characters of any race. They must not violate other game rules, and may not be indestructible or sentient without a plot-based reason. Specialty items, like abilities, must have some way to be stopped, they must have limits to their capabilities, and they must have limited usage. Specialty items may be applied for as needed for storyline purposes but must be approved before appearance in threads if they have any special reiryoku ability. (A first aid kit or a bike would not need to be applied for unless it is a recurring item, or has been in some way modified.)
[Example of Special Ability]
Utsusemi - Cast-off Cicada Shell
- Description of Attack - The practitioner moves at great speed to avoid an attack, leaving an afterimage which can appear to have taken damage. An article of clothing or a carried item is often left behind to complete the illusion, such as a scarf, or a hat. This technique is available to Master Shunpo users. [Known users: Kuchiki Byakuya, Shihoin Yoruichi, Soi Fon. Min Tier, MaLW.]
- Type - Shunpo
- Range - 10-20 meters [?]
- Limitation - As an advanced technique this is difficult to use. It often has no viability after its first use, and is limited by things as mundane as the number of implements the user might be carrying. Uses no more reiatsu than a strong shunpo.
[Example of Specialty Item]
Super Hiyori Walker
- Description - A very plain elliptical machine, made of bare-bones metal, rubber, and plastic. Looks like shit, according to Ichigo. Depletes reiryoku as the user touches it. Also can survive being hurled across the room in anger, twice.
- Type- Spiritual Device [Shitty Diet Machine]
- Limitation - Depletes reiryoku at a steady rate over the course of hours and even days, rather than simply zapping someone dry.
UpgradesUpgrade frequency has been adjusted. A single character may be updated once every four months, but upgrades may be applied for once every month. If an upgrade is denied, you must wait another month before applying again, and a character whose upgrade is denied must wait another three months before attempting an upgrade again. Ability upgrades and Tier upgrades are still considered one in the same.
