Hideaki paced back and forth between the gates. His hands in his pockets, his head turn to the ground, he looked like a worried old man. He started to pick up speed, his movements becoming a blur as he absent mindedly began to flash step back and forth. He realized what he was doing, and stopped immediately. As the dust cleared, he looked around himself, once again taking in his surroundings.
Bleak… he thought to himself. This place sure could use a woman's touch. It's so filthy and run down looking. It truly is a shame. “You really shouldn't talk that way about these homes, Hideaki.” Hayai chided Hideaki in his mind.
“But really Hayai, look at this place. It's a dump. Why doesn't someone come fix it up? I bet the Rukongai inhabitants would be much nicer if they weren't living in such poor conditions.”
“Still Hideaki, it isn't kind. How would you feel if a shinigami were to say that while you still lived here?” Hideaki began to open his mouth in response, but was quickly cut off by Hayai's voice in his head. “You would be upset and you know it. Don't give me any of that “I wouldn't care” stuff.”
“Fine Hayai, I'm sorry ok? I wont mention it anymore.” Hideaki gave a large sigh, beginning to feel impatient again. “When is someone gona come through Hayai? I need to fight a seated member to try out for a position. Im sick of being “just another shinigami.” I get no respect from the Rukongai citizens when I have no seat. It's such a pain.”
“Soon enough, Hideaki. Soon enough.” Hayai's calming voice, almost motherly, helped to calm Hideaki's nerves a little bit. But he still felt on edge, waiting here for someone. It almost felt wrong…almost. He needed a chance to prove his abilities. And this seemed the only way he’d get a chance. He just had to hope someone would come through soon. And hopefully it was someone not from the 2nd or 4th squads. He doesn't know how to heal, and he's not much of a stealth fighter. Hideaki began to pace again, impatiently waiting for someone to walk through the gates, or approach them so he could show his abilities.
