With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
That morning had been kind of quiet, the awkwardness... wasn't really there. However, he kind of felt that he owed it to her. Still, he wasn't going to walk up in a suit with a bocay of flowers. That just wasn't his style.
When he had confided in Yumichika about this, since he knew the most about girls. He said this, "You should be your beautiful natural self." And then the man had looked at Kenpachi again and retracted everything he said.
Still, he had some sort of point, in his own, twisted way. Kenpachi had to be himself. It was hard to be anything else when he felt so... comfortable around her.
He had checked her house for any signs of her, he found out that she was not there, he later check the headquarters of the 10th and was met by a wave of squealing and giggling fangirls. Damn, now he owed her a barrel of Sake.
He finally found her back in his own division training grounds, having destroyed a couple of target dummies. It made him feel stupid, his own division should have been the first place to look.
Sighing, and in the view of some of the members of his squad, the tall captain walked up behind Aoide, with only the sound of his bells to warn her before he wrapped his large arms about her petite form. The couple squad members that did see fell over and promptly fainted.
"Oi, Gaki." He whispered into her ear teasingingly, taking in the scent that was purely Aoide.
Aoide smacked her forehead for the second time that day, really these Squad 11 guys were stubborn, "Yes, I know it's easier to just run up and stab the targets. But you do that everyday and is your solution to everything. You can't always rely on slice everything," she let out a sigh again, "Now try it again, you guys did this in the Academy, so just hit the targets....Fine I'll do it again," Aoide sighed putting her palm up, a yellow light flickered at her palm before it grew into a ball and was released, it slammed into the target, mangling it quite well, "There now try again, this is the last time I take an order from Captain Baba to help train another s..." Aoide had been so distracted she didn't even hear the bells as a pair of huge, muscular arm, wrapped around her waist and picked her up.
Aoide's fought the urge to attack the person with his arms around her, she didn't like to be surprised, she had been jumped from behind too many times to not be wary. But she knew these arms as well as her own, and the fact they had wrapped around her so gently. Kenpachi's breath blew against her ear making her shiver a little, goosebumps pricking her skin. "Baka! I could have accidently blown you up!" she complained struggling against his grip before being able to slid to the ground. She then promptly glared at the number of men who were staring at the two of them, "What the fuck are you looking at? Never seen two people dating before," she snapped, "Go one back to work, if you're not able to hit those target I swear I will send you back to the Academy!" she yelled at them, not realizing that standing in front of Kenpachi, her hands on her hip, looking rather flustered, was making the entire situtaion kind of comical. She then turned and looked at Kenpachi, her hands on her hips still and a slight pout on her lips, "Sorry, Captain Baba-chan asked me to teach basic Kido to your guys, you weren't around so I had to start without asking," she said running a hand through her bangs before allowing her eyes gaze at Kenpachi, and maybe a little at the musckes he let be exposed by his robes. She grinned cheekily, "Did you get lost trying to find me?"
He laughed at her antics and decided to sit back as she berated his subordinates. Not that he really minded, the boys needed someone other then him to keep them in line, and Aoide was doing a fine job.
Despite her huffed show, he could tell that the girl was actually quite flustered with the situation. Kenpachi Zaraki shot the men a single look, and they all ran off to find some other dummies to practice on.
"Sorry, Captain Baba-chan asked me to teach basic Kido to your guys, you weren't around so I had to start without asking."
"Che... Kido." He scoffed, obviously not finding any use in the skill. Afterall, Kenpachi himself didn't have the slightest idea in how to use Kido in the first place. "Is the lil' maggot tryin' to corrupt my men now?"
"Meh, but whatever. My men could use some change." "Did you get lost trying to find me?"
He scowled and looked away, of course she would have to bring up his poor sense of direction. It's not like he ever needed that... skill in the Zaraki district anyways. It was just fight and kill over there. Directions? What were directions?
"... Maybe." He growled under his breath, hell be damned if he would admit such a fact. "Anyways, I'm takin' you out, so let's go."
He couldn't give a crap about the white maggot's orders, especially when he was trying to get the 11th to learn... Kido, of all things. He sighed and slipped an arm around her waist before almost directing her towards the exit.
"Nah, he's only trying to corrupt the ones that suck, so when they do get in a fight they have an ace up their sleeve," Aoide said putting her hands behind her head and grinning, "I think he's still pissed about being kept up almost all night and couldn't stand to look at me another second so ordered me away. The vein in his forehead was pretty big," she said casually.
OF course she knew he had gotten lost, it was almost to be expected, in fact she was pretty sure that he had found the Squad 10 headquarters by accident the night before. Maybe she should put up some colored flags, a trail, or maybe some of those human...glowsticks is that what they were called. She was pretty sure that would only irritate him even more though, seemed that his sense of direction was a sensitive subject.
"Taking me out?" Aoide asked blinking a few times before she let out a yelp as she was practically lifted up by one of Kenpachi's arms and carried to the door, "But it's like seven in the morning, where could we possibly be going! I'm wearing sweaty, training robes, I can't go anywhere looking like this!" she complained but didn't struggle against Kenpachi's grip, "You didn't even ask nicely!" she added.
"I think he's still pissed about being kept up almost all night and couldn't stand to look at me another second so ordered me away. The vein in his forehead was pretty big."
"Hn..." He muttered while they walked, a smile splitting across his face. "Well, it's too bad we kept the lil' baby from getting his beauty sleep."
"But it's like seven in the morning, where could we possibly be going! I'm wearing sweaty, training robes, I can't go anywhere looking like this! You didn't even ask nicely!"
He scowled, but allowed it to fade in no time. "To breakfast. 'Nd I know ya would say yes so there's no need to ask niceleh'."
He smiled at the fact that even though she complained, she did nothing to stop him. It was a little obvious that she liked their position far too much to compromise it.
"Ya sleep well?" Kenpachi gave her a sidelong glance as they walked on the streets towards the general direction of where he thought the exit to Soul Society was. He knew that he would have problems making it to Rukongai, but he wasn't about to ask her for help. "Would hate it if ya were also kept for yer beauty sleep."
He grinned and brushed a couple stray hairs from her face, tucking them behind her ear.
"Heh, yeah well enough, I was too tired to even wake up from your monsterous snoring," Aoide said poking fun at Kenpachi, "But you make a nice heater on cold nights," she added wrapping her arms around his and pulling him a little to guide him the right way to the gates of the Soul Society. "Psh," she grinned leaning against Kenpachi, actually chuckling at the odd looks they were recieving, "Don't worry one night of sleeplessness will not affect someone as beautiful as me," she said mimicking Yumichika's voice to the point it sounded so like him it was creepy. True, she had been practicing trying to at least mimick the sounds of people voices, but it wasn't a skill that you could use in battle, so Aoide didn't use it that often.
Aoide's cheeks flushed as Kenpachi brushed a few rebellious hairs from her face, she then smiled shyly looking up at with a look of almost awe. How in the world did she get the attention of Kenpachi Zaraki, let alone, who knew that there was an actualy layer of gentleness. Aoide shook her head, relieving the burning to her face, "So, what's for breakfast, seeing as I don't have a choice in the matter?"
"Heh, yeah well enough, I was too tired to even wake up from your monsterous snoring."
"I do not!" He growled, not realizing that his comment was almost child-like. Funny, Yachiru had said the same thing for the longest time. The thought of it just caused him to upturn his nose.
There were a couple people that gave them odd looks as they walked don't the streets of Seretei, but it wasn't something that he wasn't used to. Generally, people would stare at him in fear and bewilderment for being so scarey-looking and yet have a little girl on his shoulder.
Today wasn't that different. The only difference was a couple of swooning and fainting fangirls, watching as their lives fell apart before them. "I guess I owe ya a barrel..." He grumbled.
Grinning a little as she took the lead, he felt slightly relieved that he did not have to bruise his ego in order to get to the exit. Still, it was nice, and made him feel like he was part of a real barrel.
Well, he was. That's something he would have to get used to.
"Don't worry one night of sleeplessness will not affect someone as beautiful as me."
He scowled and shook his head, refusing to dignify that statement with so much a grunt. She had sounded so much like Yumichika it was uncanny. Then again, Yumichika did sound very girly.
"So, what's for breakfast, seeing as I don't have a choice in the matter?"
"Western." He stated simply, before giving her a sidelong glance and somewhat of a smirk. "Ya'll see. It's what they eat in the human world, in a place called... Um-air-ric-ah."
"Told you, you have fangirls, and you do too snore, but it's kind of cute because you do this kind of whistling thing at the end of each snore," Aoide murmured smirking, guiding Kenpachi to the right. He really did have a bad sense of direction, the way he was going would have taken them to the Squad 4 barracks. Aoide did pout a little, no comment on her fantasic imitation of Yumichika, oh well, she let out a little sigh, it wasn't that impressive of a skill away, well unless she wanted someone else to volunteer to take the blame. She let out a small chuckle before looking at Kenpachi with innocent eyes, no one would ever know.
"It sounds...interesting," Aoide said her eyebrow furrowing, she had never heard of this before. Well she had never really looked into human breakfast before, she had assumed it was pretty much the same boring stuff they had, "What is it exactly?" sh sisn't want to ruin the suprise on what it was but then again she didn't want the surprise of what it was.
"Told you, you have fangirls, and you do too snore, but it's kind of cute because you do this kind of whistling thing at the end of each snore."
"Hn." he grunted in retort, still a little sore about having to buy her a barrel later. "I ain't gonna believe that I snore, evah'."
He was taken off guard when he was pulled to the right, thinking that for sure he was supposed to go straight. Was she trying to get him lost or something? Or was she actually right?
Gah, damn Soul Society! Everything looks the same!
"Aoide..." He gave her a sidewards glance, "You sure you ain't lost or somethin'?"
He wasn't meaning to insult her or anything, but he really didn't know where they were going. Heck, when did he ever know where he was going?
"What is it exactly?"
"Food." He responded dryly, rolling his neck to work out a kink. Apparently, after their... activities the night before, a knot had formed in his neck. It didn't really pain him, but it was unpleasant. "Didn't I tell you that ya would see?"
He smiled down at her to notice that the strands he had recently brushed back had fallen into her face again, something that he immediately corrected, like it was instinct. Gods, her hair was addictive.
"... Ya look nice." He decided, it was a compliment. About as far as any compliment could go coming from the Shinigami known as Kenpachi Zaraki.
"Tsk, let me give you a little insight on how my days are. The early morning I'm allowed to train with Squad 11. Mid to late morning I'm stuck doing paperwork. Then after lunch and after a nap I'm sent all over this fucking place with messages. See, Hell Butterflies are great and all, but rather slow, and seeing as I'm the fastest in my Squad, as well as being pretty darn fast compared to the rest of the Gotei 13, I play messager until dinner," Aoide grinned, "After running up and down these alleys a million times a day because of someone wanting on thing for dinner, then changing their mind, you kind of learn how to get around," Aoide said stopping and sweeping her hand to the front gate as they rounded a corner. "Ta-dah," she said with a cocky smirk.
"I know food baka, bu what t..." Aoide's words trailed off as she looked up at Kenpachi. Had he, did he just say? He said she looked nice, that was the closes thing to a compliment out of bed he had gotten. Aoide rolled her eyes, nice, if he wanted nice he should actually let her put on something nice. "A sweaty training robe and my hair in a mess is nice?" she asked jutting out her chin a little, "Tsk, maybe if you'd give me the chance to pretty up I could show you what nice is."
