Located at the bottom of the main page, and any profile view page, you will notice a Chat, provided by XAT. If you are unfamiliar on how this chat works, you may read the guide below. In either case, we do expect all players of the board to abide by the rules of the forum, as well as the chat, so please read the rules listed below as well.
Rules of XAT
1. You must be registered with Xat in order to join the chat.
- Due to recent problems with Guest members in Xat, all members are now required to register with Xat.com in order to join the chat. It is a fairly simple process, and takes less than five minutes of your time to complete.
2. Respect the Players and Staff Members
- It is expected that all players respect one another. Joking around is one thing, but should an argument escalate, a staff member will step in, should they feel the need to do so.
- All decisions made by the staff are final. Please respect the Staff, whether they be moderators or administrators. If you feel you are being treated unfairly by any of the staff, please inform the Administrator of the Board (myself), and I will give the final say on the situation.
3. No Advertisements
- Advertisements have their own location on the board. Please refrain from advertising in the chat itself.
4. Maturity
- It is expected due to the board's own rating, that all players of the board uphold a certain level of maturity. Still, there are times when you are free to act immature, but please refrain from immature behavior, such as arguing and name calling. As stated above, joking around with one another is fine, but should an argument escalate, a staff member will step in.
5. Sexual Harassment
- Joking around is fine, as the staff of this board are a fairly laid back group. However, should comments escalate to sexual harassment, a staff member will step in to nullify the situation to the best of their ability. Should you feel you are being harassed in anyway, sexual or nonsexual, please inform a staff member or administrator.
6. Profanity
- As stated above, this board contains mature players. Use of 'some' profanity is allowed, though if directed toward another player of the board, or towards a staff member, such actions will not be tolerated and will result in immediate action by the staff. Of course, some words are just simply not respected in any chat room. These words should be common sense, and if they are spoken in the chat, the speaker will be banned from the chat.
7. Forbidden words/subjects!!
- Naruto, Politics, Religion, being Bored, your applications beyond being done (And mention this in the presence of staff ONCE and only ONCE or your app will not be touched for a long time!), unless someone else mentions it first, or a staff member wants to talk about it.
8. ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA!!
For the sake of clarity:
Spoilering the show is okay ONLY if it retreads the manga.
Please refrain from alking about the manga issues until the day after release at the earliest.
We can, and will ban over this. This, we take seriously.
XAT Guide
The XAT Chat is designed for players to speak with one another, or to interact with the staff without the need to PM. Of course, there are certain conversations that should be kept to PM. If a staff member redirects you to Private Messaging through the board, please follow their advice.
1. Signing In.
When you first come onto the home page of the website, you are automatically signed in. If you do not have your own personal account, and if this is your first time on a XAT Chat room, then an automatic name will be given to you (strange names). You will have to become a member of the board in order to view the chat. In order to do so, we recommend going to www.xat.com and signing up for an account. It's free and takes less than five minutes to do. All members are now required to sign up for Xat.
2. Changing your Name.
To change your name, you simply need to make sure that you are signed in, then on the top right, where the list of names are, click on the top-most name (that will always be your name). From there, a secondary screen will appear. There will be a place to replace the name that you have artificially been given. We recommend sticking with a name that you either go by on the board, a character in which you play, or a nickname that you can be recognized as; switching your name is fine at any time, but we recommend keeping things simple to avoid confusion. Once you have created a name, a moderator (someone with an orange or white symbol next to their name) will make you a member. If you have not yet been made a member after some time, you may PC (private chat) one of the staff members.
3. PC (Private Chat).
In order to speak with someone privately, you can click on that members name. Another side screen will pop up with several options. One is private message, which will send a message that only they will be able to see, and the other is private chat. In clicking Private Chat, a secondary chat window will appear (indicated by a tab just underneath the chat box window), and you will be able to privately chat with a fellow member of the XAT board.
4. Personal Icons.
Similar to how one would change their name, to create your own personal icon (one is normally automatically given to you), you simply click on your name in the XAT Member List, and that familiar screen will appear. Underneath your listed name will be a place to insert a URL of an icon image. Remember that the size is fairly small, but the image itself will be automatically re-sized. XAT also has a preset list of its own Icons, so if you want to spend time going through them all, feel free to do so.
If you have any questions regarding the Chat itself, or how to create an account, you may visit www.xat.com or ask a staff member if you need any help.
