Though her expression would seem to match that of Ulquiorra, she isn't so much emotional as she is simply bored. She is rarely seen enjoying life, or anything. She abides by her orders and fulfills them in full, no matter what. She will cut anything in her path that stands in her way. She is loyal to the Espada and whom ever controls their group at that time. Though it may appear she holds no source of joy or empathy in her, she does seem to have somewhat of a heart at times, though rarely seen in her actions.

Melancolía actually enjoys the endless abyss of sand and permanently darkened skies of Hueco Mundo. She seems to be fairly intelligent, and never involves herself in anything she knows she cannot complete. Still, if she were given the orders, she would rather face death than the consequences of failing her mission.

She does not speak, but communicates with light, barely audible single word responses, through hand gestures, or facial expression replies.

Appearance:

Melancolia is a fairly tall, and very slender/thin woman. Her skin is a very pale peach color, with long flowing blond hair. Within those long strands, there are various tints of pink which seem to show far more under sunlight. That long hair is tied in a variety of spots, into a nicely braided ponytail. Her bangs are parted to the sides of her head, which seem to compliment her features nicely.

Her eyes are a dark red color, with a light color of pink worn for eyeliner. She wears a pair of earrings on both ears, two identical spheres that seem to match the color of her Spiritual Energy Sword. Around her neck is a wired string that holds a slightly larger orb of the same strange color. She has a few tattoos on her body, aside from the number, which is located on her back. Along her right arm, there are two; on her upper arm, two plain black bands, a bit thick in comparison to the one near her wrist, which is a similar fashion double banding, though the two are inter connected with two X's. The same tattoos can be found on her opposing arm as well.

The remains of her hollow mask are on the upper left part of her face and over that ear. The remains are fairly small, and when standing profile, can't even be seen. The white mask reaches slightly across her forehead, though only halfway to her left eye, while a smaller, thinner piece moves down along her jawline, and curving back toward her neck. Another curve reaches up and around her left ear, though most of the mask is hidden by the bangs of her hair. Her Espada tattoo is located on her left shoulder, the number 2 in accordance to her position.

In accordance to clothing, she wears the traditional all white attire, with some black outlining. She wears a skin tight white top that just seems to cover her breast lining and a bit of the upper parts of her stomach, leaving her shoulders, neck, and lower torso bare. Her pants are of the normal fashion, with black socks and white sandals. Just above her pelvis, wraps a long black sash, which is tied in the back in a bow, with the sash extending almost down to the floor.

Arrancar Powers:

Absorción-Lliberar (Absorb-Release) is a technique where she first 'Absorbs' energy. In order to do this, her blade must take a direct hit, or she must use it in a way to parry an attack. She will then mutter Absorción, which will prompt the violet blade to pulse a light, white hue. The attack will slightly disperse as roughly 50% of the attack's energy is absorbed into the blade, depending upon the attack itself. This cannot be used to fully neglect a powerful attack. However, she can use it to absorb the force of a physical attack, i.e., while she is parrying a blade. However, it would take several parries (roughly 20 from Captain Level) for the measuring gauge of this attack to reach its maximum point. The actual point of this attack is to use energy that is being used by her enemy, throughout the battle, against them. When the blade reaches its maximum absorption of energy, the sword will begin pulsing uncontrollably, indicating its need to release the energy. She then mutters the phrase 'Liberar' to release the energy. Unlike her dark violet Cero, this technique does not take any energy out of her, and is simply the condensed energy she absorbs in battle. Its color is a pure white hue, with a dark violet outline. She can prematurely release the energy she has collected, though for obvious reasons, it will not be as powerful as a full powered release, and the energy blast will not be white, with a dark purple outline, but instead, violet, like her Cero.

Proyectil Morado (Violet Projectile) is a technique in which Melancolia pulls her sword back as it gathers violet spiritual energy within the hollow portion of her blade and launches it as an attack, similar to a cannon, towards her opponent, in the form of an energy blade projectile. She has also demonstrated the ability to keep the gathered energy concentrated within the hollowed out portion of the blade and unleash it in the form of a ribbon when attacking. The power of the attack is considerable as it can provide a highly lethal wound if it were actually make contact with a target.

Natural Arrancar Powers:

Sonído (響転 (ソニード), Sonīdo; Spanish for "Sound", Japanese for "Sound Ceremony") is a technique used by Arrancar which allows them to move at extreme speeds, making it highly similar to the Hohō (or Flash Steps as they are called in the English Dub) that Shinigami use. While somewhat similar to Hohō, Sonído appears to be more instinctual than Hohō, requiring no previous knowledge to perform. It also makes a different sound; rather than the swishing or sometimes silent Flash Step of the Shinigami, Sonído makes a booming or static sound.
(Deleting this Ability, as it is useless in comparison to the following one)

Gemelos Sonído (双児響転 (ヘメロス・ソニード), Hemerosu Sonīdo; Spanish for "Sound Twins", Japanese for "Sweeping Sound Ceremony") It it allows her to create clones of herself. Up to five clones can be created using this technique.

Pesquisa (探査回路 （ペスキス）, pesukisa; Spanish for "Inquiry", Japanese for "Probe Circuit") is the Arrancar equivalent of the Shinigami ability to sense Spiritual Pressure. It functions similar to a sonar. Using Pesquisa requires most Espada to enter a meditative state; however, Nnoitra has a variation of this technique that involves placing his fingers to the ground to determine an opponent's approximate location as well as the amount of Spiritual Pressure an opponent has.

Hierro (鋼皮 （イエロ）, iero; Spanish for "Iron", Japanese for "Steel Skin") refers to the hardened skin of the Arrancar, which is a result of their compressed spiritual power. While their skin is strong enough to block even released Zanpakutō bare-handed, it is by no means impenetrable. Stronger Arrancar have proportionally stronger skin. Nnoitra Jiruga claimed his Hierro is toughest amongst the Espada; being of higher rank than Nnoitra, Ulquiorra's Hierro appears to be much tougher.

Zanpakuto's name:

Lágrima (Teardrop)

It appears less as a sword and more like a short rod. It seems to hold no real resemblance to a blade, just a simple rod about six to eight inches in length that is held within her right hand.

Flash Grito (Flash Shriek) is the basic ability she uses to activate her Zanpakuto. Lagrima is awakened with a soft mutter of the phrase and brought to life. Though this is not considered her Resurreccion, her Zanpakuto is a special case. While its appearance is explained below, it is made up of her own spiritual energy, and as such, must activate it before using it.

When activated, the blade takes a rather unique shape. The Zanpakuto manifests itself, not as a normal sword would. Her blade is made up entirely of spiritual energy, which is produced from the rod itself. From both ends of the rod manifests twin trails of energy, curving toward each other to produce an Energy Sword, almost looking like a ridged teardrop; her Lagrima.

Note: While Abilities should not be placed here, it should be noted that this is merely the ability to 'activate' her sword, and actually make it appear. Since she does not have her sword in her Resurreccion, it would be pointless to place this ability there, nor is it a power of her own.

Resurrección Appearance::

Her skin becomes a full gray color, with some parts fading more black. Twin horns grow out from her head, pointing forward, like a bull, and her eyes become one solid color, with pupils nonexistent. Small spikes appear upon her shoulder; parts of her bone sticking out through her skin, as well as protruding out throughout her skull. Her hair is all but lost completely, leaving her in a bald-like appearance. More bony spikes appear at various joints; along her elbows, her knuckles, hips, and knees. Her face, chest, and torso are the most gray; shoulders to her arms, and hips to her thighs a bit darker in tone, while the rest is a solid black color.

She grows a long tail from her lower back, with jagged spikes at the end, coated in a layer of pure black. Her clothes, for the most part, remain in tact. Her Zanpakuto is now formed by a pair of claws that extend out from between each knuckle of both hands, still holding that dark violet hue. The six total claws extend and retract at her command, though the total length she can use it is the full length of each arm. She becomes far more animalistic in this form, and though can walk on her hind legs, normally is seen walking on all fours. Her personality returns to her more primal origin, whereas in her humanoid state, she acts far more different.

Resurrección Abilities::

Hierro (鋼皮 （イエロ）, iero; Spanish for "Iron", Japanese for "Steel Skin") refers to the hardened skin of the Arrancar, which is a result of their compressed spiritual power. While their skin is strong enough to block even released Zanpakutō bare-handed, it is by no means impenetrable. Stronger Arrancar have proportionally stronger skin.
Moved to Natural Powers, i.e., she has this ability without Resurreccion.

Gran Rey Cero (王虚の閃光 (グラン・レイ・セロ), guran rei sero; Spanish for "Grand King Zero", Japanese for "Royal Hollow Flash") is a particular, very strong Cero. To perform this potent variation of the Cero, the Arrancar first draws blood from the Cero-generating appendage using his or her Zanpakutō, then charges the Cero while mixing the blood with it. The result is a Cero with a much greater attack power and speed, as well as a change of color unique to the Espada.

Absorción-Lliberar (Absorb-Release) Melancolia retains this ability, through the use of her claws.

Uña Lágrimas (Tearful Claw) - Her strongest attack; her claws glow a bright white hue with a violet outline, and then makes a slashing motion that creates giant "claws" of solidified energy, each about half a kilometer long, from the end of each finger. The attacks act as a ranged claw attack, which she controls like her regular claw attacks, by using slashing motions.

History/Background:

Like most Arrancar, Melancolía holds no real memories of her human life. She only vaguely remembers her life as a Hollow, but in mere bits and pieces. Like all the others, however, she eventually evolved into a Menos level Hollow, and from there, a Gillian. Though she does not remember much, she does know that her time as a Gillian was quite short in comparison to most stories she has heard over the years, though to reasons unknown to her.

As an Adjuchas, she had evolved into a four legged creature, which seemed to be the mix of a black panther, and some sort of Tiger. Unlike Grimmjow, however, her outer shell was a bit different; two faded colors of black and gray, and a bit smaller than he in appearance. She rarely spoke to others of her rank, and it seemed, was shunned away when a new force entered Hueco Mundo, and created Las Noches. She sought to become a Vasto Lorde, for reasons unknown to herself, in order to overthrow the man who had taken over a part of her world. A primal instinct? Perhaps...

She was close... she knew she was; she could feel it. However, after learning of the newly evolved Arrancar level, she stopped devouring lower class hollows, and instead, removed her mask. It was a natural transformation, unlike some of the other Arrancar. Still, she felt it was not enough to over throw Aizen and his artificially created Arrancar army.

Eventually, she had become apart of a Fraccion, which eventually led her to the room where the Hogyoku was said to be held. It, however, was merely an artificial remnant, and thus, was not the source of power she had been looking for. Still, the power within was able to bond with her, creating a more natural Shinigamification process, and thus, obtained a more humanoid appearance. With that, however, her personality seemed to change. Her animal instincts seemed to dither away almost completely, and instead, found herself as more of a loyal servant to the new hierarchy than anything else.

Currently, she stands as the Second Espada, though without a current Primera, finds herself as the temporary leader. Along with her two Fraccion, Jooyoku and Kaiko, who had lost her previous position as an Espada due to a power depletion, she continues to work with her fellow Espada and other Arrancar in order to devise a plot worthy enough to rid the world of Shinigami.

Her long blond hair was tied almost perfectly it seemed, while the light from the ever present moon forced the fuchsia tint to flourish brightly. That pale skin was as soft as the smoothest silk, which also seemed to hold a glow while it reflected the light from outside. Parting those thick bangs, the tall woman adjusted her blood red eyes toward the doorway, where she heard the steps, as well as sensed the ever familiar reiatsu, of the current number Seven made her appearance at her door.

"Melancolía," her voice was as annoying as ever as she half-sung, half spoke her name with almost a purr. That thin yellow brow twitched ever so slightly as she adjusted her field of view to recognize the obviously higher ranked woman. She had yet to be officially part of a Fraccion, though with the newly opened spots... perhaps she could stop taking orders herself.

"Why do you always look so sad?" Kaiko put on a pout as she pranced her way to the chair the blond had been sitting upon. "C'mon, lemme see you smile!"

The woman let out a 'hmph,' indicating her disinterest as she turned her head back toward the window. A grin expressed upon the Seventh's features, however, as her eyes flattened rather deviously.

"I can always sing for youuuuu," Kaiko suggested, singing and extending the last part of her suggestion. Melancolía's eye twitched as she let out a silent, 'eep,' knowing full well the effects of the woman's voice. There were silent spouts of protest from the blonde before she finally threw up a very forced smirk. "That's... not really a smile..."

A single shoulder shrugged before she cocked her head back to the window, obviously finding the endless sands to be more entertaining than the overly zealous woman standing before her. Eventually, much to Melancolía's fortune, the Seventh got board and left, leaving the woman alone with her thoughts.
