Skill Level: Swordsmanship: Advanced
Skill Level: Shunpou: Intermediate
Skill Level: Hand-to-hand: Advanced
History/Background:
Age: Looks 18
Gender: Male
Personality:
Asaki takes after both of his parents in certain aspects. He can be foolhardy, overconfident, and lazy. He does though, share some traits with his aunt Akane and has a few personality quirks.Appearance:
Behind closed doors Asaki is a loud, smiling, laughing, fool. He has a firm belief that he is invincible and that he can take on the world. Which is only encouraged by his overly zealous mother. Much to his aunts dismay. He often neglects doing housework to do things he would prefer doing. Such as studying things about the living world. Although his mother and aunt call it laziness, he calls it "better time management".
He has a fascination with Earth and often gives his mother of all his savings when she ventures there for missions.
Growing up without a father and a Lieutenant for a mother taught Asaki to fend for himself at an early age. Although his Aunt and "uncles" attempted to help Matsumoto raise the poor boy.
When out in public, he is very different from both of his parents, likened more to his Aunt Akane. He is very quiet and reserved, often perceived as cold by others. This is because while growing up he had to deal with being bullied because of his fathers "betrayal". This caused him to view the rest of the world coldly and with cynicism.
He's not a very trusting individual and often finds it hard to make new friends.
He is "the quiet kid" in his classes.
He tries his best not to attract too much attention to himself, as it often ends up with insults or hushed whispers behind his back.
He works extremely hard at things that interest him. He has a lot of potential, but if a subject doesn't interest him, then he only does enough to get by. This causes him to get mixed reviews from his teachers. Ranging from Prodigy to Obscenely Average.
One would wonder why he would join the Shinigami Academy, if it's a seething cesspool of hate for young Asaki. The truth is, he hates his deceased father. Even though he knows the story behind it, he's still bitter and angry over what he feels was "the easy way out". He joined the Academy to show everyone else that just because he's his son, that doesn't mean he's like him.
In combat Asaki is more of a defensive fighter. He stays calm, cool, and collected, even when back up against a wall. He prefers to sit on the defensive and learn the opponents attack style, and then counter-attack mercilessly.
Asaki is 5'10" and weighs 150lbs. He wears the standard shinigami academy uniform. He has fair skin, and very much resembles his father. He has the same strawberry blonde hair as his mother, which usually sits in an ordered mess on his head.Zanpakuto Spirit:
He has the typical blue eyes of his Aunt and father.
Anatema is a very rude, prideful spirit. It refuses to speak to Asaki unless he feels Asaki deserves to be spoken to. Which is not often. He has a very "higher than thou" attitude about him, and often becomes bitter about Asaki's failings. He seems himself as the king of Asaki's world, although he lives in a poverty stricken hut. Anatema wears tattered white robes, with faded holy symbols. He has long jet black hair and eyes that are completely black. No pupils can be discerned from them. Asaki's inner world is reminiscent of a medieval kingdom, with a large castle and a massive church adorning the hillside. Both buildings overlook the sprawling village below. Anatema resides in a broken down, decrepit shack within a poverty stricken region.Sealed Zanpakuto:
Anatema is a katana that has a regular colored blade. The guard is shaped into a lower case "t" with each end sporting a rather wicked looking white horn. The cross itself is black. The swords hilt is made of black wood, and is wrapped in soft white silk. The weapons sheath is a mix of black and white, the colors melding together to become a seamless transition.Shikai Description:
Release Phrase: Vindicate, Anatema! (Anathema)Shikai Abilities:
Anatema radiates a soft white glow upon being released.
Anatema's powers respond to Asaki's emotions and reason for fighting. Upon initial release his power goes up very little, and remains in that state until Anatema is satisfied with his reason for releasing him. When fighting for revenge, pride, vindication, etc,... Anatema glows brighter as the fight drags on, increasing in intensity every time Asaki lands a hit on his opponent. As the light increases, as does the damage Anatema causes. Whereas in the beginning of a fight, the blade hits only slightly harder than a regular sword, it gradually escalates. It becomes able to create craters by just hitting the ground once it reaches its full power. However, the sword also becomes harder to control, and if wielded too long in its full power state, will backlash against Asaki, causing serious harm. This forces Asaki to either end a fight quickly or use the swords other special ability.Bankai Description:
Discharge: Asaki can discharge the stored up energy in Anatema, firing out a jagged white beam with a black center.
Backlash: Results from the build up of too much power, causing mild to severe physical harm to Asaki. The only way to prevent this is by using the discharge ability regularly.
It should be emphasized that Asaki can not control the escalation to full power yet. As it is he remains below his tier until the sword reaches full strength, which then puts him at his given tier.

History/Background:
Asaki's father was Captain Hikaru Aurora whom defected during what was later called "The Sword Wars". His father gave his life to ensure that the Sword of Air would make it out of Aizen's clutches.RP Sample:
His mother is Rangiku Matsumoto, who had to raise the poor child with help from her friends. She never allowed her son to see the inner turmoil of dealing with two people she loved turning their backs on her.
Asaki grew up in the home of his father and aunt. He often had visits from his mothers Shinigami friends, and his Aunt. Despite what they told him about his father, he couldn't help but hate the man for making his mothers life so hard. Even though he never saw Rangiku visibly upset, its well known that a child can feel when their mother is upset.
While growing up he was often teased and bullied by the other children for being the son of a traitor, and his mother was the subject of many insults. He quickly grew a thick skin and slowly became detached from the world. Never taking pity on himself, but vowing to prove everyone else wrong.
At the age of 18, he requested to be sent to the Shinigami Academy, which was happily granted.
He quickly excelled in his classes, determined not to let his fathers name deter him. He set a goal of early graduation and completed it, joining a division shortly after graduation.
Asaki walked slowly into his dorm room, blue eyes glancing all about. His mother and aunt had come with him to help him move into what would be his home for the next 6-8 years of his life, but he had gone ahead to check out his room. He had a roommate, most academy students did. That bothered him a little. He didn't really think being insulted for his heritage was conducive to a learning environment.
The first thing he noticed was that his roomie had moved in, but was absent for now. That was good. Would let him get settled, and hopefully the kid would move out when he discovered who he had to live with.
It wasn't long before he heard his mother and aunt walking down the hall, saying very unlady like things as they dragged and carried the heavier things. Asaki had offered to do it, but his mother had insisted on him checking out his room first.
Upon getting through the doorway, the two women dropped the luggage unceremoniously onto the floor, letting out a loud sigh.
It wasn't long before his mother embraced him in a hug, and began to look around the room like a child in a candy store.
"Wow these are so much better than what we had, you're so lucky Asa!"
"Yeah, it'll do nicely mom."
"Stop trying to act so cool all the time, you're just like your father!" came Akane's swift reply from the doorway.
"Maybe. But I don't turn my back on people." Asaki snapped back.
The room went silent for a moment, Akane's eyes cast shamefully to the floor, Asaki's averted towards the window, and his mothers doing their best to hold in tears.
Cupping her sons face in her palm, she turned his head to face hers.
"I hope one day you'll forgive him. But for now, just do your best. I'm so proud of you. I love you hun."
"Love you too Mom."
And with that the pair left, leaving Asaki alone in his dorm room.
