Personality:
Skill Level: Swordsmanship: Advanced
Skill Level: Shunpou: Intermediate
Skill Level: Hand-to-hand: Intermediate
History/Background:
Age: 350
Gender: Male
Personality:
Hikaru is a friendly, confident, sarcastic, womanizer. He is highly intelligent, despite rarely showing it. He is in fact the complete opposite of his sister.Appearance:
As a child, he was often chastised by other children in the Rukongai for having a "charity case" of a family.
The constant teasing gave him a sharp tongue, able to come back with sarcastic and witty remarks in most situations.
Outwardly, he appears to be a lazy jerk. Those that have made it past his emotional walls will find that he is actually a kind, caring man.
His personality tends to be at odds with his peers, and gets him in trouble more times than not.
In combat, he tends to play with his opponents, much like Kenpachi. Once he gets a feel for how strong they are, his entire attitude changes. He becomes cold and calculating, pointing out the flaws in an opponents defenses, and ruthlessly takes advantage of every opening.
His attacks become much less whimsical and wild, and become extremely accurate.
He does this so he can correctly judge the right amount of force to apply in order to defeat an opponent, lulling them into a false sense of security with his behavior before truly entering the fight.
Hikaru stands at 5'10", and wears the standard shinigami attire.Zanpakuto Spirit:
He has a fairly muscular build, seeing as how he works out just enough to stay in shape.
He has bright blue eyes, the shade changing with the amount of reitsu being released.
His hair is short and tousled, and is dyed jet black. His true hair color is blonde (like his sisters), but nobody else knows that.
Fushichou is an elegant Phoenix. Her color changes depending on her emotional state, ranging from a blood red, to a sky blue. She can change her form to resemble a human woman. Her clothes in human form tend to be expensive dresses, the colors changing with her mood.Sealed Zanpakuto:
In human form, her hair color and eyes also change with her mood. She has a thin and lithe body, seeming to glide when she walks.
Her personality is very snarky and uppity, often refusing to talk to Hikaru unless he performs inane tasks for her.
She resides in an elegant mansion on a hilltop, overlooking a massive city. The people in the city all represent fractions of Hikaru's soul.
Fushichou is a normal sized katana. The blade looks to be made of pure silver, and has a permanent reflective shine.Shikai Description:
The guard is round, and has the appearance of golden flames expanding outward.
The hilt is made of solid gold, and wrapped in black nylon. A small gold tassel extends from the golden pommel of the zanpakutou.
Moeagaru, Fushichou! (Flare up, Phoenix!)Shikai Abilities:
The blade of Fushichou flashes brightly for a moment, blinding everyone in the area save Hikaru for a moment. The flash is caused by the blade of Fushichou changing from silver, to glistening gold.
The guard of the zanpakutou changes to become a golden phoenix, the wings extending to further protect Hikaru's hands, and the blade extending from the mouth.
Extreme heat: Fushichou sits at a constant searing temperature, able to dissolve low level water and ice based attacks. This also has the effect of cauterizing any wounds the blade makes, or any inflicted on Hikaru. The heat of the blade, also allows Hikaru to ignite plants, dry wood, etc,. Essentially things prone to fire.Bankai Description:
Plasma: Hikaru can increase the heat of his zanpakutou enough to ionize the oxygen around the blade, and turn it to plasma. Hikaru can keep the substance on his blade to augument his attacks, or launch it in bolts, waves, arcs, etc,... Hikaru can not control the trajectory of a plasma attack once its been fired.
Eruption: Hikaru can charge massive amounts of plasma on his blade, and fire it in a massive beam. The attack takes a little under 30 seconds to reach full power, but can be fired before it reaches its maximum potential.
Sesshiyakuwan Fushichou (Indignant Phoenix)Bankai Abilities:
Hikaru holds Fushichou above his head and calls out his Bankai. The blade disappears in a tornado of flame, a soothing melody echoing from the center. A large phoenix forms from the flames, and then crashes down into the center of the vortex, finishing the transformation.
Hikaru's chest, shoulders, arms, and legs, are encased in an extremely hard glass like substance. This armor protects him from average strength physical and reitsu based attacks.
From his back, twin birds wings of plasma stretch out.
His zanpakutou disappears, and a pool of plasma sits at his feet.
Extreme heat v2: Hikaru's entire body radiates enough heat to form plasma on his hands, feet, chest, mouth etc,...Skill Level: Kidou: Advanced
Zanpakutou formation: Hikaru can form plasma into a sword, and then change it into a shikai look alike. The sword itself has no abilities. The sword can be thrown, and can be turned back into plasma to act as a quick attack.
Eruption: Hikaru can charge and fire Eruption from his hands.
Plasma manipulation: Hikaru can control the trajectories of his plasma, using his mind, much like Byakuya Kuchiki's Bankai.
BANKAI FINAL FORM: Mochuu Fushichou (Mourning Phoenix)
Hikaru loses all of his Bankai's abilities, and resumes the shikai appearance of his sword. All of Hikaru's reitsu, and as much plasma as the reitsu will allow him to form, combines to create a massive phoenix in the air above him.
Hikaru is extremely vulnerable while channeling this attack, as it takes several minutes to form the attack. Hikaru can not use the phoenix until it is fully charged.
Beautiful Phoenix: Hikaru can use the massive avatar to attack his opponent, creating a massive explosion.
Hikaru dies after using the final form of his Bankai. He can not go back from releasing its final form. Essentially being an attack of last resort.
Phoenix Heart: Hikaru's body is completely destroyed after using his final attack. His soul is stored in the blade of Fushichou, and the blade remains intact. Anyone who picks up the blade after will be capable of using it, but does not have access to the final form of Bankai, should they learn the Bankai at all.

History/Background:
Hikaru was born in the upper Rukongai, along with his sister. His father was an abusive drunk, and would often beat his sweet and loving mother.RP Sample:
One day, around Hikaru's 5th Birthday, his father dragged his mother outside and began to savagely beat her. A shinigami had been in the area at the time, and stopped the drunken man from continuing. However, when his father tried to kill the shinigami for interfering, the man killed him.
The shinigami offered his mother, sister, and himself a new home in the lower districts. He said he was of minor nobility, and his family was very kind.
Eager to leave the decrepit 68th district, they graciously accepted the offer, moving into a nice home in the 6th District, South.
Since that day, Hikaru and his Sister were enthralled by the shinigami and constantly aspired to become one.
It was no surprise that their mother married him eventually, granting them a father they could look up to.
But, even though they had escaped the brutal streets of the upper Rukongai, the twins still had to deal with bullies. They called them the children of a whore, charity case, and other horrible things.
Their new step-father had taught them to fight with their words, before using their swords. This was a lesson Hikaru took to heart, rather than his sister, whom he was forced to restrain multiple times.
He quickly gained a reputation for being a smart ass, and the bullies eventually stopped verbally abusing him. Instead they attempted to physically beat him, but being trained somewhat by his step-father in self defense, he was able to protect himself in most circumstances.
Once the twins came of age, the leaders of the house requested that they be sent to the Shinigami Academy, so they could bring pride to the minor house.
Setting off at once, seeking to fulfill their dream of being Shinigami, the duo entered the academy.
Hikaru excelled at swordsmanship, and Kidou, while his sister was the opposite.
By the end of their time in the Academy, they were both considered average Shinigami, Hikaru showing a slightly above average knack for swordsmanship.
He entered the Divisions immediately after graduation, splitting from his sister for the first time in decades.
He was given a cushy unseated position, which he grew accustomed to, and took full advantage of. For hundreds of years he held the same position, training in secret and accumulating far more power than an unseated officer should have been capable of.
For a long time, nobody paid any heed to it, and it wasn't discovered that he was anything but a simple shinigami until the Winter War, when he let loose the full extent of his abilities.
Having achieved Bankai at some point during his centuries as a Dojo cleaner, he had plenty of time to master the powerful form before the War.
Much like how Ikkaku hid his Bankai, Hikaru also his full power when training with his fellow low seated friends
"Hmmmm not enough."
Hikaru's right eye visibly twitched as he stared up at human form of Fushichou. She had sent him down into the town about two hours ago to fetch her water, and had forbidden him to fly.
Why she couldn't get herself, Hikaru didn't know.
"Why the hell do you even need water, you're a bird made of fire!" he all but yelled, at the whimsical woman in front of him.
The beautiful womans hair flashed red for a moment, before returning to a cool white, her eyes not even glancing at her partner.
"You wanted your Bankai, I told you to get me water. You didn't get enough." she said simply, filing her already perfect nails.
Hikaru's mouth shut and closed for what must have been five minutes, before he let out a frustrated growl and stormed out, back towards the town below the massive manse.
He took no chances this time, his frustration at the spirit of his zanpakutou causing him to buy several cases of water, which he couldn't exactly carry up the massive hill.
Of course he didn't realize that until he was at the foot of the hill, staring up at the massive house at its top.
Growling in frustration he slowly began his trek up the hill, only to come face to face with Fushichou after only 100 yards.
"Hm, this will do." she sighed with dissapointment, tut-tutting her partner for lack of foresight in carrying the water back.
Before Hikaru could yell at her again (he swore she was the only thing that could rile him up), she snapped her fingers, a zanpakutou forming in her hand.
"Now I will teach you your Bankai."
The rant on the tip of Hikaru's tongue fell to the wayside, and he became deathly serious, listening for his swords instructions.
"You've used me in training with your friends. So you know my destructive potential." he nodded in confirmation.
"You've always used me wildly, either to go easy on your friends, or simply because you lack the discipline or skill to be precise."
He winced at the insinuation, but remained silent, wanting to hear more.
"In order to achieve your bankai, you will have to defeat me above the town, without harming a single soul fragment within."
Hikaru let out a small cough of surprise. She was right, he never really cared to be precise with her attacks. He usually just slung plasma at whomever he was sparring until they gave up. It was about time he taught himself control.
"I accept."
She was gone in a blur, Hikaru barely had any time to block the strike, which sent him flying off of the hill and into the skys above the town.
He felt a gust of wind at his back, and turned just in time to deflect a bolt of plasma away and into the open air...Only to have it turn and fly back at him. Activating his shikai, he fired a similar bolt at the attack, and nullified it in a brilliant explosion.
Fushichou gave him no time to breath however, her own blade dancing in and out of his guard, inflicting several minor wounds, before she finished with an Eruption that charged up entirely too quickly.
Hikaru fell from the explosion like a meteor, his body spinning as he fell. The top half of his uniform had been completely destroyed, horrible burns crossing his chest.
It was by sheer willpower alone, that he slowed his momentum, and sent his own attack back at Fushichou.
Hikaru was not a dumb man. He knew he couldn't hit her, he couldn't gain the skill needed to be as precise as she was, on such short notice.
Which was why he needed to use his brain and think of a plan.
As his attack passed by its target, the woman transformed into her bird form and launched hundreds of smaller plasma streams from her body, each one homing in on Hikaru.
Hikaru dodged several of the blasts, but each time they came flying back at him. Quickly seeing the trap the flying plasma was attempting to make, he Shunpoed down to the ground, ducking in and out of alleys, the plasma following him.
Fushichou herself landed in the middle of the town, the plasma she had created still following her partner all throughout. While the beams were separated from her, she couldn't tell exactly where they were. Transforming into her human form, she drew her zanpakutou, eyes scanning for her opponent.
Hikaru himself had mad a huge circle, eventually forcing all of the plasma into a large ball that was trailing him a little too close.
Cursing under his breath, he hoped to whatever God there was that his plan would work. Deactivating his shikai, he prepared to put the gambit into effect.
Coming around the corner, into the town square, he spotted Fushichou . Grinning, he flashed up behind her, taking a swing at the spirit, only to be blocked swiftly by her own blade.
"C'mon Hiki, you're better than that." she mocked, her smile vicious.
"You're right." he replied a little too confidently, his zanpakutou flashing a blinding light as it transformed into its shikai state.
The light caused Fushichou to stumble backwards, just as the homing ball of plasma reached the pair, unable to turn away fast enough, the attack slammed into her back.
She screamed in pain, and was flung into a grinning Hikaru. Who stopped grinning once he realized the blasts momentum would hit him as well.
Shutting his eyes against the inevitable pain, he waited. Moments passed and all he could feel was a gentle warming feeling throughout his entire body.
"Clever. You weren't skilled enough to win alone, so you used my own attacks against me. I said you had to defeat me without harming the other fragments of your soul. I will keep my promise."
With those words, Hikaru was flung out of his own inner world, surrounded by the form of his Bankai and the burning Dojo he was supposed to be cleaning.
Cursing under his breath he recalled his Bankai, and went to find help.
He would have to be more careful now.
