With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Heath walked into the empty lot where Haru said he would meet him for their duel. A lot had happened since the final battle, and the ranks were in disorder. Heath and Haru were good friends and he had once served under Haru, but now found himself with a higher rank than his former Captain. This duel was supposed to decide who really deserved the higher seat here.
Heath leaned against a wall, holding his overly long spear in his hands. He stared up into the vast sky, it was a really quite and peaceful day. If Haru took any longer getting here, Heath might have decided to take a nap.

It had been a normal week for Haru, all with the work and the orders. Haru had never really expected that he would have to challenge his former ally to a duel for a higher spot...this was a little disturbing for the former captain. If he lost everything...could he not regain it. Slowly Haru would start to climb the mountain which he once was on top. Now he had to start at the bottom once more and slowly climb further ahead to achive his goals. Today would be the checkpoint.
As Haru grabbed his zanpaktou and had headed out, he was greeted by a warm welcome from the sun. He smiled as the sun glittered in the sky and had selflessy gave Haru the warmth. This was a good sign to Haru. He merely chuckled and had moved on. He was around the 4th division area when he had decided to to pay a visit to the fellow shinigami. He decided not to but just merely nod to the shinigami and had continued his way to Heath.
He had JUST finally reached his destination when he already found Heath, patiently waiting for Haru. Heath seemed to be a little annoyed in Haru's eyes...maybe it was because he was late. "Hello there Heath...how are you?" Haru asked politely as he had now placed his zanpaktou in his sash. "Anything new?" Haru had smiled as he already could see that Heath was holding that spear of his. "I never really understood why you have a spear instead of a sword...maybe I should have gotten to know you better..." He sighed as he withdrew his own weapon. "I'll let you make the first move."
Haru eyed Heath as he had just allowed Heath to start. Knowing Heath he would fight with honor and dignity. wasn't suh qualitites fitting for a knight? Haru knew that Heath's shikai form was a lightning based weapon and that would fare difficult would it not to go up against it. Haru placed himself in the stance that was so familiar to himself that it became an instinct more that a thought. His sword was twisted and he grabbed the handle and moved the blade foward to have his blade face sideways. This was a very unusual stance as Heath would have already seen it many times by now. This battle would be interesting.
Heath turned to face his former captain. "Hello Capt...I mean, Haru" Heath replied, accidentally referring to Haru by his former title out of habit and respect. "I'm glad you finally made it" he said politely.
Heath brushed his long green and silver out of his face, he was starting to feel a bit excited over the fact that he was going to be able to duel his former captain. "Yes, my spear is different from most Shinigami, and its not even a foot lance, but a riding lance." Heath began to answer Haru's question. "But I suppose that is because this weapon is similar to the lance I used in my days as a knight" Heath said this while he looked at his zanpaktou.
"Now lets begin" Heath stated as his zanpaktou transformed in a surge of electricity. The lance grew to nearly seven feet long and the spear head became dynamic in shape. "I won't go easy on you" Heath mentioned to the former captain, and then he charged with his lance thrusted outward, aiming for Haru's shoulder.

Haru smiled as Heath charged with his lance. This move was too basic and a simple lunge was a little too predictable when your foe is using a spear-like weapon. Haru side stepped and jumped to Haeth's left side and had slashed with his zanpaktou. Before Haru's hit landed, he withdrew the attack and had slid beneath Heath to appear behind him. Then he would kick Heath's right shoulder and slash his right hip.
All of Haru's actions had one purpose...to disable. The kick to the shoulder would only make it sore but with the accuracy of his kick, Haru had aimed for the more important nerves. As the for the hips this would basicly disable many of Heath's movements at such an early stage of the battle that all would be in Haru's favor. It was critical to keep a balanced combo and to think before you acted.
After Haru had made his moves and had attempted to disable most of Heath's movements...Haru jumped back with his zanpaktou in hand. It was no use to release his zanpaktou so early is the battle. He would save tht for later. As for Heath it would appear that he had already released his shikai. The lance was already sizzling with electricity and it would have appeared to frighten most foes.....the keyword was MOST.
Haru had stayed calm and collected as Heath had lunged and pf course went with the suprise slash only to stop before it hit and suprise Heath by not attacking but adjusting Haru's position to make a better cause for his blade to strike. Yes all of this was critical to Haru's fightning style and at the same time it was a bit amusing.
"Heath...I'll have you know that I have weakened since my old state. No longer do I have the abillity of bankai so I want you to remember this," Haru had said with a serious but relaxed tone, "I will still win even without bankai." Haru finished as he began to think for the next set of action that Haru should take. He already had many ideas forming in his head but he would have to see which to use.
Heath spun around quickly so that most of Haru's attacks didn't hit their exact marks, and Heath's armor protected him from any major damage. "I see.." Heath replied simply to Haru's statement about his bankai. "Since I've fallen below the rank of Vice Captain, I feel that I have weakened some as well, and I don't doubt that you will win"
Heath twirled his spear around and released a massive bolt of lighting heading straight for Haru's. Right after, Heath jumped forward, bringing his spear down on Haru's like a fighting staff, charging it with electricity to increase the damage of his attack. Though he could have just resigned his position as 3rd seat, there was little honor in that.

Haru blocked the lightning bolt with his blade and was left with nothing but a little sting from the blast. What Haru need to pay attention to was the fact that Heath was above Haru and coming down to slam his lance onto Haru with an electric boost. The downside to Heath's attack was that while in mid-air you are vulnerable to stay in midair with reduced speed. If it was the human world or Hueco Mundo this would be no problem at all. Too bad it wasn't.
Haru chanted in a low voice so that Heath couldn't hear and had cast a spell. "Hadou number 54! WASTE FLAME!" Haru shot a blast of fire which soon began to burn monsterously around the floor where Heath would everntually land. The Haru jumped away quickly before the flames would burn himself. "Heh..." Haru then cast another speel and had directed it at Heath. "Bakudou number 9! HIT!" There was a red light as it shot at Heath to paralyize him so that he may fall in the flames. "Hope he doesn't get too hurt..."
Heath was taken by surprise with the sudden change in tactics. Heath had no way of dodging the burning ground under him, and the sudden kido spell that hit him and damaged his armor didn't help either. Heath fell into the flames but quickly jumped out. His armor was on fire, and he could feel the flames burning away at it, reaching his flesh. Heath tore off his armor, throwing it on the ground, and watched it burn to ash. Under Heath's armor were simple undergarments that knights usually wore under their armour. "Very clever Haru" Heath commented as he looked at the burns on his arms. "You are as quick-witted as always.
Heath pointed his spear at Haru, lightning began to dance across Heath's body, giving him the appearance that he was being electrocuted, however, he felt no pain. "Once more" Heath shouted, and he shot seven bolts of lightning from the tip of his lance to where Haru was standing, sending debris everywhere.

Haru watched as his plan was set into action. The flames were burning around like kids running around school on the last day before summer. Heath had taken the bait and was struck by his bakudou binding as was parilyzed, unable to avoid the flames. Haru was impressed though, as quickly as Heath fell into the flames he had gotten out. A true knight indeed.
"Well Heath you have certainly been traini..." Before Haru couldn't finish his sentence, a flurry of bolts were shot straight at Haru. Taken aback by the sudden twist of events, Haru quickly raised his blade and had deflected most of the bolts. The problem was that one of the bolts had barely hit Haru straight on and he too began to burn like Heath. Haru quickly took off the upper garment of the kimono and had now been bare-chested. "Heh you caught me off guard Heath...." Haru praised as he had now raised his zanpaktou. "Now it is my turn again...to counter."
Haru had shunpoed to the far end of the room. "Bakudou number 61! SIX RODS PRISON OF LIGHT!" Haru chanted as 6 giant rods of light were now crashing onto the earth outside the barracks (Just saying we are outside the barracks) and were now surrounding Heath. Now usually this bakudou spell was commonly used to slam into the opponent, not on any other surface, but Haru had intentionally placed them to surround Heath and not bind him. Instead he had fired Bakudou number 9 once more to parilyze Heath.
"Heath here is where I'll get serious...SHINE FORTH, HATESHINAI RANPU!" Haru cried as his zanpaktou was now emitting so much light that it wouuld have blinded many people. Haru then directed the light at the six rods and used the rods as mirrors ro reflect the light and blind Heath momentarily. Now if Bakudou 9 HIT had hit Heath, he would have already been parilyzed and with the blinding force of the light he would be very helpless. Now Haru had pointed his finger at the ords and had chanted this time to increase the power of the kidou. "Hadou number 4! WHITE LIGHTNING!" The byakurai had then boomed from Haru's finger and had it the rods who deflected the white lightning to continuously blast a chain of lightning at Heath non-stop until the spell whore off so that the rods would stop reflecting the lightning and cease the damage.
Heath had braced himself to be binded by the six rods of light spell, but was taken by surprise when the rods were placed around him. He wasn't sure why, but he felt trapped, he had to get out of that specific area before.....
Before Heath couldn't even react, Haru had struck him with another paralysis kido spell. Heath's body wouldn't respond correctly once more. As Heath struggled to break free from the effects of the kido spell, Haru had already taken the offensive once again. Judging by the look on his face, he had something planned again. Haru was far to clever, he was always able to string together the most unconventional strategies.
Heath was blinded by the flash of light Haru had caused. Everything was flashed out from sight, he couldn't see anything but white. But he could still hear, and he heard Haru fire a fully powered Byakurai toward Heath. He felt the blast hit him several times. it must have been reflecting off of the light rods. Very clever. This would have been a very effective technique against most opponents, but Heath was an exception.
The Byakurai continued to hit Heath like Haru had planned, but it was growing weaker every time in came in contact with Heath's body, and eventually disappeared. Heath's sight was slowly returning to him. He could see Haru directly in front of him, in easy range. Heath pointed his spear right toward Haru and fired a massive bolt of lightning straight at him, this one was much more powerful. This was because Heath had absorbed the lightning charge of the byakurai, and combined it with his own energy to fire right back at its original caster. "You should know better than that, to use lightning based attacks on an opponent that primarily uses lightning attacks." Heath informed his former captain

Haru watched as Heath had taken the bait. Yes it was true that Heath was a lightning type user and the byakurai would have been an awful choice to make when up against such a foe, but Haru was that thick. "Heath I know that a lightning type user like yourself could have eaisily absorbed my attack, but that was my aim." Haru had said as he was in the process of creating another light rod and deflect the attack and to add fire capabillities to further enhance the strength of the attack. Even Heath could absord the lightning fast enough to not get seriously injured. It was HARU'S mistake.
Haru had caluclated the speed and momentum of the lightning in mistake and the speed was much greater than Hariu had worked out in his head. The bladt was bulleting straight at Haru befire the kidou was finished and Harui had no choice but to dodge. He made another mistake. He had jumped in the air and the blast was still in range. His own plan was back-firing. The mistake he had pointed out on Heath when he had used his fire kidou was now on his toll.
Haru immediately raised his zanpaktou and has release, "SAIGYOKU NIJIGASUMI!" Haru yelled as the light mist orb of rainbows were already forming. It was too late. The blast was indeed lost in the orb but it was incomplete with the fact that the blast was inches away. Haru raised his blade and the orb took most of the damage the rest had hit Haru's blade and had burned his skin slightly. "Owww..." Haru muttered as he landed on this feet a little weirdly.
"That was my mistake..." Haru muttered as he had been chanting once more. "Bakudou number 75! QUINTET OF 1 KAN IRON PILLARS!", Hadou number 54! WASTE FLAME!, Bakudou number 61! SIX RODS PRISON OF LIGHT!" Haru chanted as the Iron Pillars were slamming towards Heath. Then the Waste Flame would burn away the metal (Haru intentionally made the iron pillars easy to burn) and to melt onto Heath. Then the 6 rods prison of light would slam into Heath also and Haru would deliver his final blow with Saigyoku Nijigami. The orb would trap Heath inside and then Haru would send a flurry of light slashes. "Heh"
