With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
"You can always go for a nap, so of course it sounds great," Aina said playfully watching his fingers stroke her arm, her cheeks reddening a little from the soft touch. Her skin broke out into goosebumps, her heartbeat sped up and was so loud in her ears, she almost half wondered if Shinji could hear it as well. This was so completely different, such a strange feeling, yet it felt so right. They had known and been friends to one another for hundreds of years, thay had their fair share of playing around, teasing, and fights, but nothing like this. Deep down Aina sort of knew that they had both felt this way, yet keeping their distance for one reason or another. From Shinji being kicked out of his family, her constantly arguing with Shinji about being a Shinigami, to the differences from him being a Captain and her a lowly Shinigami. She half wondered what else they would fight about just to try to keep that small crack of distance to keep themselves from being hurt. But from what?
Aina knew, she knew that someday one of them would die, most Shinigami weren't as lucky to be as old as Shinji and Aina. She forced that thought from her head and instead slowly scooted over so her forehead was resting against Shinji's chest, her arm casually around his middle leaving barely any room between them.
Shinji kissed the top of her head as he moved, lifting his hand to begin running his fingers through her hair. He was wondering, rather glumly, how long he had put this off. And how long she felt the same, and how much time he'd wasted by prolonging the apparently inevitable. Of course, part of that reason was the sheer inconvenience of having a relationship. Though, he wasn't finding this inconvenient, yet...
His eyes were closed, nearly slipping off into dreams, but he was almost certain she'd say or do something ridiculously annoying to prevent his rest. He needed this rest to stay pretty. It was important to his appearance as a captain.

She was tempted, oh so tempted, to ruin the mood, to make sure that Shinji didn't get his self proclaimed, 'beauty sleep.' But she knew he expected her to interrupt his slumber, and she hated doing things that were expected, where was the fun in the surprise? Her arms around him tightened slightly, so this was it. after so long of the two of them teasing and pushing one another away they had finally, conciously given in to that nagging voice in the back of their minds. Though, Aina couldn't complain, a lot of the nagging voice was their mothers, but that was another annoyance they could ignore to an extent.
She had just fell into a light doze, the warmth of their two body lulling her into security, when there was a knock at the door. "Bet it's Aizen," she murmured sleepily rubbing her eyes.
Shinji sat up quickly, looking at the door, and yelled; "Aizen, if that's you, ya got five seconds ta explain yourself, and get the hell out, or I'm gonna destroy ya!"
Shinji panted, he was upset that he was woken up. He'd never get back to sleep now. All because of stupid Aizen and his stupid incessant assaulting of Shinji. It never ended, day and night the guy could find him and rag on him. Who does that? Aizen, of course. Nobody else's lieutenant, except maybe Kensei's, gave them that much trouble. This was just obnoxious.

"Hirako-Taichou, they've called an emergency meeting," A muffed voice from the outside of the door in such a tone it made Aina sit up as well. It was pretty rare that an emergency meeting was called, it seemed like most Captains and Vice Captain had meetings of some sort everyday. She chewed the inside of her cheek as her hand settled on Shinji's shoulder to calm him down a bit.
"It might be about Kensei-san and his squad, didn't they go into the forest to check out those disappearance?" she said trying to be somewhat helpful, though the messenger sounded slightly frazzeled, she hoped that it wasn't bad news. Even if she had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Shinji's face flashed solemn, if only for a moment, his eyes narrowed. The speaker wasn't Aizen. Was Aizen finally up to something? Like anyone would believe him. "I'll be back as soon as it's over, Aina," Shinji said, not a hint of a joke in his tone or expression. Something had happened. Something bad. They didn't call emergency meetings for nothing. Shinji rushed to the doorway, hoping things weren't as bad as it seemed they were.

Aina drew her knees to her chest as she watched Shinji leave. worry lines appeared around her mouth as she chewed on the side of her cheek in worry. This was one of the only things she hated about Shinji being a Captain, so many things he couldn't tell her, things that could put him in harms way. Though, he usually told her as much as he could, she knew that something was happening in forest, people were coming up missing. And, that Squad 9 members had been sent, Captain and Vice Captain.
If something happened to them, they would probably send a larger more powerful group. Which probably meant Shinji. Aina rocked back and forth, her face buried in her knees. She could stand by waiting, doing nothing, for Shinji. Throwing the blanket off, Aina left Shinji's quarters, heading towards her glass shop. Stepping inside, she let out a sigh, loving as she heat from the furances warmed her to her bones. She had hired a few children from the districts to keep the fires going at all time.
She got to work, taking a slug of molten glass and she began to create something, putting all of her worry and fustration into the piece.
