With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.

Aki wasn't sure if he caught sight of her blushing as she turned away, but he knew bashful when he seen it. He didn't say anything, though, as her flinch showed how nervous she was. Or at least, uncomfortable. When she took her hand back, he folded his arms.
At the mention of not calling her "Sugar lumps" he feigned a pout and nodded. "Alright, fine...how abo--" but she cut him off by stating what he could call her. He unfolded his arms and rubbed the back of his neck as his free arm dropped to the side. "Rin it is then. But I don't think you'd be hard to forget--I never forget a beautiful woman." He threw a wink and a grin in at the end of this, and when she questioned his mission, his mood visibly darkened as he became serious.
"My mission wa--is, to kill a large Hollow. It's been terrorizing the people here, and the forces in the area were too tied up with other things to deal with it. I got sent here to deal with it real quick. I ran into some...complications. I haven't been able to go back yet." He stated this, as vaguely as he could. He admitted, that maybe he should say something to her--but that wouldn't end well. He knew, more or less, he wouldn't be able to go back to Seireitei--unless it was for a formal exile. He wasn't too sure on the Seireitei's stand on the Vizards anymore. He heard rumors they had helped in the Winter War, but he didn't know anything else really.
Well aside from the "Hollow powers are bad!" he got in the Academy. Taboo, one could say.
He shrugged at this point, trying to deflect interest. "What about you? Kinda deserted for you to be wandering around here looking for Hollows....so was your mission something else?"
A mission to kill a large hollow? Was that ever a mission? Rin thought hard about the stacks of papers that she had helped her captain complete. She couldn't remember straight any details, but a large hollow mission? I feel like he's leaving a lot of details out. Especially since he's supposed to get rid of a large hollow... And on his own?
"So what large hollow are you talking about? I've been here for some time and I've only seen the regular minor ones. She knew for a fact that she hadn't been in contact with any large hollows in Karakura. Even if there was, such a threat would've been placed on her mission's statement for something to look out after.
"Well, I'm not on a search for hollows. If I do happen to run across them, then I won't hesitate to get rid of them. My job here is keep patroling Karakura for the time being-" She cut herself off wondering if she should allow him to know the true objective of her mission. She figured it wouldn't hurt anyone since Aki was in her squad anyways. "But I'm not just on your regular patrol. I'm searching for the missing, the wanderers, the exiled. Those kinds of people. I know Kyra made a list on who's gone missing and proclaimed dead, but I've forgotten to read it. Besides that, I read all the papers for the past who knows how long missions. And for some reason, I feel like your name was one of those reports." It shouldn't be bad to just outright tell and ask him, right?

At the question of the Hollow, Akihiko waved his hand as if dismissing it. "Just large as in big. Wasn't that strong." He left it at that, but if Rin caught it--he spoke of the Hollow in past tense.
He folded his arms and listened to her, raising a brow as she spoke of her mission. The lost and missing....well, he thanked his lucky Hell Butterflies she forgot to read those papers. The Hollow was dispatched rather easily--at least after he berserked on it. His Hollow form, from what he gathered, mopped it up easily--as well as the area around him. Regardless, he pushed those thoughts back into the darkest depths from his mind, even as his Hollow was cackling with delight.
He couldn't help but wonder though...was he proclaimed dead? Missing? Rogue? He frowned somewhat at this, though quickly pushed it off just as it was forming. At the mention of the reports, Akihiko shrugged.
"Not possible. I haven't sent a report back yet...job isn't finished. Maybe I was being considered for promotion, and that's where you seen it?" He feigned to be thinking deeply, but truthfully he was considering ending the conversation as quickly as possible and bailing.
"Well...anyway, I suppose it doesn't matter. I've gotta mission, as do you...so I guess I'll be on my way. Maybe we can have some drinks some time, eh?" He moved to step by her, rather quickly. He needed to get out of dodge, fast, before she began getting nosy again.
Looks like I'll just have to call in on this one. Though I'm sure I did read a report with his name in it- "Hey Aki-" Rin turned around to ask Aki something, but when she turned where he would be standing, he was gone. "Rrrgh, Aki! Where the hell did you go?!" She looked from side to side but there was no trace left of him. She would follow his spiritual pressure, but the urge to check things out came first. "Fine, I guess I'll just investigate on you on my own."
Turning around to the general direction she was heading, Rin eyed the little pill that she had been hanging onto the whole time. Popping it in her mouth, Rin detached herself from the gigai. Appearing in her normal shinigami attire with Amatsutori visibly hanging on her side, she gave the konpako orders to return to Urahara's shop as for now. Leaping through the air and higher places, Rin lands on top of a telephone poll and pulls out her cell. The phone dial goes until someone picks up, "This is Rin Hinote, third seat of 5th squad. I'm currently stationed in the world of the living. I'd like to request reports on the recent activity of Shinigami Akihiko Nakamura." The voice on the other line gave her a quick and short response. Her eyes widened at the reply and she quickly hung up right after. Standing straight there she stood, looking down at Karakura as the wind blew her long hair. Akihiko Nakamura...
