With the Captains suffering casualties and heavy injuries on their side, all hope seemed to be lost... until Shinji Hirako appeared, along with the rest of the former Shinigami. Though the aid of the Vizards certainly helped to draw the battle in their favor, it seemed Aizen's power alone proved too much for them.
Ryu growls as his attack misses. This guy was powerful, too powerful. He managed to dodge that lightning bolt, which in and of itself is an incredible feat. The Arrancar sonidos away and begins to speak.
"I don't think so! I'm not going to let you do any such thing" Ryu yells, anger in his voice, and fire in his eyes. Suddenly, the evil being sonido's behind Ryu, slashing with his seemingly random attack. Ryu turns and attempts to block as many as he can, spinning his scythe and blocking with the staff and blade. As the two Zanpakuto's collide, electricity sparks from the blades. Each time the Arrancar's blade hits Ryu's Scythe, a jolt of electricity travels down it's body. Another slash crosses Ryu's path, this time slashing his other shoulder. Blood spurts from his wound as Ryu groans in pain. The Arrancar then vanishes and fires his bala. Looking up Ryu points a hand forward.
"Bakudo 39: Enkosen!" he announces. The bala collides with a glowing yellow shield of reiatsu, resulting in an explosion. This blast pushed Ryu back a few feet. He stand, bloodied and panting. As the Arrancar moved around the room Ryu calls out to him.
"Why are you doing this? Why can't you just allow the people of both worlds to live in peace. What comes from all this destruction ?!" Ryu yells out. He keeps his Scythe up, attempting not to let an opening show. This monster had these horrible plans. Ryu couldn't allow them to come to fruition, he just couldn't. He couldn't die here, he had to stop him.
Ryu grits his teeth, his anger rising still, and energy slowly seeping from his body. Yellow-gold energy rises from his body as he seems to get more and more powerful. Ryu's eyes dart from surface to surface. It was getting easier to see the Arrancar's movements. Ryu shifts his weight to his right foot. He could see the Arrancar's movements, he could follow him.
Flash stepping himself Ryu would attempt to meet the evil being midair. Spinning his staff Ryu assaults the Arrankar with a flurry of electrically enhanced slashes. Once one hits, Ryu would take that opportunity to slash downward onto the Arrancar's shoulder. While distracted he would them leap upward, stopping a few meters above the Arrancar. Pointing his hand forward Ryu would then announce his attack.
"Had 4; Byakurai; Byakurai!" 2 bolts of white and blue lightning blast from Ryu's palm. He then uses both of his hands and concentrates, using his ability to manipulate electricity to move the bolts. The two bolts separate and turn in opposite directions, then turning inward, speeding toward the Arrancar to his left and right.

Zarrith back steps swinging his blade back and forth to block Ryu's attack each time gritting with pain as the electric energy surged down his weapon. The last slash scraped across the Zarrith's chest dropping his gaurd for a second he howled in pain as Ryu's scythe dug into his shoulder. The electric bolts followed soon after slamming into him and sending him spiraling down to the plateau. Zarrith stood bloodied and panting, he spoke with determination and anger in his voice.
”So you think you’ve won do you, you think you have beaten the great Zarrith… think again you arrogant fool. Buzz, Shingetzu”
Zarrith’s blade glows then changes to green in color, he develops large insect like wings and plate armor with small holes all over it. The opening that reveals his mouth seals over into two clacking pincers and he gains a large scorpion like tail with a wicked looking curved blade on the end. He then screams making no noise besides a high pitch squealing sound, a swarm of flies crawl out of his body charging towards Ryu, once they get close to Ryu they will glow red and then each will explode with a small blast like a scatter bomb.
Kaito stands in the field his movements seem slow and exagerated as if gravity was stronger here spinning around in a circle he recognises the place as his spirit's world cupping his hand together he screams towards the top of the tower. "Drazzel whats going on here? Why have you brought me I must go back and help Ryu"
A fireball launches out of the top of the tower sprouting wing's it reveals it's self as Drazzel the phoenix incarnation of Kaito's zanpakuto. Flapping his wings the giant flaming bird lands near Kaito the heat from his body drenching Kaito in sweat. "Kaito the time has come for you to understand the true nature of my power, we must discuss Bankai. As warrior you have seen that your training thus far has been in adequate and because you have yet to fully understand my power but worry not for I shall show you the way.” Drazzel swings his flaming wing across the wall of his tower causing the jewel binding the door to glow and then shatter…

A swarm of the insects had gotten too close to Ryu. The blast was powerful and sent him sprawling across the cavern floor. Smoke rose from his burnt clothing, Ryu winced in pain. That was a strong attack, and he took it head on. Suddenly, another swarm came at him. Ryu quickly jumped to his feet and flash stepped away, the swarm exploding on the impact of the ground. As Ryu stops, he notices another swarm coming his way. Growling slightly Ryu flash steps away, attempting to avoid another detonation. Flash Stepping several times Ryu finally stops, raises his hand, and announces: Number 33; Sokatsui!" A torrent of blue energy erupts from Ryu hand, in an attempt to incinerate as many of the insects as possible.
Glancing back at the water Ryu begins to think. "I have to get to Kaito, he won't be able to survive down there... Dammit... hold on... please". Ryu tries to keep the attack up until he cannot anymore, then would jump away and point a hand through the smoke toward where he thinks Zarrith is.
"Ten Kaminari" Ryu yells out, and from his hand bursts a large blast of yellow lightning, hopefully heading for the arrancar.
The bolt of lightning slams into Zarrith's shoulder flinging him back and to the ground. He grumbles as he stands making a buzzing sound under his breath as he stands and turns towards Ryu clicking the pincers that make his mouth together a swarm of insects surround him. The insects swarm around Zarrith blocking Ryu’s view of the arrancar, who then sonidos behind Ryu slashing with his blade towards Ryu’s back. As soon as the blow lands the swarm of insects charge towards Ryu’s exploding as they got close to him. Zarrith then sonidos to the far side of the room insects swarming around him gathering in thicker and thicker quantities.
”I suppose I’ll need to keep you preserved, they say the poison has various effects on everyone. But I would say your goodbye’s to reality now”
Zarrith releases the swarm of flies to bite Ryu each of their mouth’s teaming with hallucinogenic poison. As the flies head to Ryu, Zarrith charges a cero in his mouth energy swirling between his pincers and then surging forward towards Ryu, trying to hit him while he is distracted by the flies.
Kaito watches as the red crystal shatters, each of the fragments bursting into flames as it drops to the ground. The silver wings rise revealing a large metal doorway, the iron door is dark, thick, and grey. Reaching out Kaito wraps his hand around the doors handle a large metal ring. Pulling his hand back from the scalding hot metal Kaito has a moment of confusion before Drazzel speaks;
”No Kaito, you must embrace the heat feel it flow through your body like blood, make the fire your own. Do not fear it, for it will burn you, do not try to conquer it for you will be burned. Become the fire Kaito, you must become one with the searing winds.”
Zarrith sonidos behind Ryu, and slash at his back. The pain of his flesh being slashed causes Ryu to shout, in both pain and surprise. As the attack hits, the insects detonate, the explosion sending Ryu through the air. He manages to turn over, and land on his feet, but falls to his knees. He breaths heavily, and his body aches all over.
"Damn... he's so much faster now... and those insects... if they come anywhere near me they blow up. I have to keep moving, or he's going to get too close again" Ryu says, attempting to stand. His body feels so heavy, and he feels so lightheaded. There was something wrong, that attack shouldn't have had this much of an effect on him. He was stronger than that, and has taken much worse beatings.
Ryu suddenly feels a series of pains on his arm, stinging. Looking down he notices several tiny fly like creatures on his arm, bitting him. His eyes open wide. That was why he is being effected like this, and that's what Zarrith meant by the poison. Ryu's vision was beginning to blur.
"No.... I can't let him do this.... " Ryu says to himself. He shakes his head, attempting to rid the fogginess from himself. He clenches his fists, his body becoming tense. "I... won't let this monster succeed" Ryu states, several angry growls slipping from his clenched mouth.
He begins to stand slowly, using his Zanpakuto to help pull him up. Ryu stumbles a bit, his body felt like it weighed a ton. His eyes narrow as he can feel his hatred for the Arrancar rising. Electricity sparks from his body, and his reiatsu rises again.
"I'll never allow you to get away with this...." Ryu says, pointing his hand forward. "Number 33; Sokatsui.... DIE YOU BASTARD!" Ryu yells out, the yellow form of his reiatus briefly exploding with power, rapidly surging upward around Ryu, as if it were an aura. An enormous blast of Blue and white energy erupts from Ryu's hand, surging forward, in an attempt to hit the arrancar and his insects.
When the blast ends, Ryu falls to his knees, straining against the apparent weight of his body. "damn.... come on... I need more... I need more power to defeat this.... this monster" Ryu thinks to himself.
Zarrith laughed, his chuckles swirled with an annoying buzzing sound and the clack of his pincer like jaws. The Kido blast fired out of Ryu's hand blasting past the arrancar as the creature erupts in to belly shaking laughter over his apparent victory, buzzing while he speaks his voice is giddy and he fidgets in anticipation as he speaks.
”Perfect, you have lost shinigami. You will die a quick and painful death. Your petrified friend however woln’t be so lucky ill feed him to my pets, so they can absorb his very soul and grow. All this time I was thinking how can I get my hands on a shinigami with enough reiatsu to stabilize my pets and here you two just dropped into my lap. Say good bye shinigami.”
Zarrith opens his jaws energy swirling around the pincer’s as a massive and deadly cero charges in his mouth the powerful blast firing out singing the very air around it as it charges towards the weakened and disoriented Ryu.
Kaito steps into the raging inferno within Drazzel’s tower screaming in agony in pain as he feels the hungry flames lap away at his now sizzling flesh. Every nerve ending on fire he struggles to maintain his sanity as pain rips at his very mind, his corporal body turns burning hot as it begins to evaporate the water around him. Half crazed with pain Kaito swirls through the fire desperately searching for the exit when a stern but caring voice reaches out to him through the flames.
”Kaito this is the fire of your rage, of your anger, of your guilt. Use the flames that guide your hand in combat, the heart that guides your blade to cool them. Announce to the flame what it is you fight for and watch as it burns away your sins, or consumes you for them. KAITO WHY DO YOU FIGHT?”
The answer came to Kaito almost instantly he screamed with passion and resolve, hoping his answer is acceptable. ”I fight so no one else has to, I fight so the ones I care for will live, will grow old. I fight because someone has to and I can.”
The energy blast closes in on Ryu, it couldn't have been more than a few seconds, but to him it felt like hours. Ryu could feel his heart beating faster and faster, he could feel the sweat pouring down his face, he could feel the heat of the attack getting closer and closer.
"No... I can't let him do this... I can't... I can't let him succeed" Ryu thinks to himself, clenching his fist on the ground. "Why... why didn't I have enough power to stop him" Ryu yells in his head as he closes his eyes, awaiting the attack.
"You don't really want to die here, do you?" Ryu hears Kaminari's voice speak to him.
"Of course not... but what else can I do... he's outclassed me" Ryu replies.
"No, you just aren't trying hard enough" Kaminari says, smirking.
"What!? How can you say that? I was trying my damned hardest" Ryu yells to the yellow hair spirit.
"Liar. You have so much more power than this, it's just buried. Now dig it up" He says.
"What? how? I tried, I can't" Ryu says to the spirit.
"Then I guess all of this was a waste. Let's just sit back and watch your friend die" Kaminari says, resting his hand behind his head. "I guess they don't matter to you"
"No, you're wrong" Ryu says.
"Then prove me wrong" His spirit says turning away. "Unless you're a coward, and a fool. He is going to kill one of your friends, and all you are going to do is sit here and cower? If you ask me it would be better if you just sat back and watched him die, at least then you wouldn't get in the way" Kaminari yells. As the spirit speaks to Ryu the Shinigami's teeth and hands clench, his eyes open wide, his anger finally rising to a boil.
"SHUT UP! YOU'RE WRONG!" Ryu yells, his reiatsu sky rocketing. A yellow aura blasting in all directions from Ryu, electricity sparking all around him. The Cero slams into the outpouring of energy, halting, then exploding. Smoke and dust are swirled around with the Reiatsu from the explosion.
Ryu yells loudly as the cave begins to shake, the energy emanating from Ryu causing massive breaks in the ground, upturning it and causing it to rise. Electricity sparks violently, blasting randomly, striking the surfaces of the cave, causing sering strike marks. Ryu continues to yell as his power keep rising, his hair briefly glowing yellow, then returning to it's normal color. Finally, Ryu arches back, and lets out another shout. He glows brightly, and explodes with energy, lighting the entire cave in a bright light. When the light subsides, Ryu stands, the ground around him completely destroyed, a yellow aura racing around him as if it were a raging river. Electricity is constantly sparking off of him in the form of white bolts, every so often a bolt of lightning randomly blasting from his body. His eyes had changed. They now held nothing but rage, and the desire for vengeance.
"It's over..." Ryu says coldly, locking eyes with the arrancar
Zarrith stares as the energy swirls around Ryu the lightning like energy destroying the cave around him. Buzzing with anger, the arrancar charges towards Ryu a storm of black exploding flies leading the way. As he charges Zarrith whips his sword out the green gooey blade seems to ooze within itself as he screams at Ryu half in anger, half in curiosity.
”So shinigami it seems you think your strong and have been holding back. We’ll ill tear you into pieces like the scum you are. You useless excuse for warrior, you couldn’t even save your friend who has surely drowned by now”
As Kaito finished calling out why he fought, the flames surged down his mouth, through his eyes, ears, and up his nose. He could barely scream as he felt the fire devour his organs, his lungs and stomach his very insides churning with fire. And then nothing he felt no pain no anguish a simple calm and peaceful serenity that washed through his body. Looking at his hand it is bathed in a very dark blue fire swirling with black winds. Looking at his arm and legs he see’s his entire body made of the swirling fire and winds. Rising in front of him through the normal fire is a black fire version of Drazzel.
”This is my true form, the true fire I wield within my own domain. Now it is your fire to control to wield. I am Drazzel the incarnate of burning wind and you the conduit with which my power can be released upon the world to purge away evil with flames as dark as there heart. This is just the first step my friend you are still to young to wield this fire, but it will purge the darkness within you.”
Zarrith dashed towards Ryu, the black bugs surging behind him. Ryu glared, this Arrancar had pushed his anger to it's limit.
"Good... now use it" He heard Kaminari state in his head. As the Arrancar got closer, suddenly, he felt a pain in his stomach. It felt as though a ton of bricks had slammed into it. The ground shattered beneath him as he looks down. He sees Ryu crouched down, his fist pressed against his stomach after delivering the powerful punch. Electricity courses through Zarrith's body and Ryu looks up, his cold eyes staring back into Zarrith's. Suddenly he vanishes, and reappears 10 feet behind the Arrancar.
Blood spurts from Zarrith's shoulders, two deep gashes now present. Ryu's scythe drips with blood. "I told you it was over, didn't I". Ryu stats, his cold voice echoing in the cave. The aura Ryu has never dies down, it is constantly raging, constantly sparking. Ryu walks slowly to the ledge where Kaito had fallen. He points a hand forward.
"Hado 58; Tenran" Ryu announces. As he does so, a blast of wind in the shape of a tornado descends to the water, clearing as much of it as it can. Ryu levitates down to the bottom, the wind still blowing the water away. He noticed Kaito's body, lying unconscious on the floor of the lake bed. Picking him up, Ryu flash steps back to the surface, and lays him down. He then turns his attention back to Zarrith.
Zarrith stutters and spurts clutching his stomach from the pain a bit of blood drools out of his mouth as his Zanpakuto seals leaving him in his original form. Dropping to his knee's his vision blurs as red drops of blood hit the ground, Zarrith looking up at Ryu, his voice buzzing and chuckling.
”You think you’ve won, but you woln’t even make it out of here alive. Let alone defeat them.”
Zarrith falls over to the ground his body fading away as the very room begins to tremble. The wall by the platform cracks then shatters as a large worm like hollow exactly like the one before but larger burst through. The creature whips it’s head back and forth and dives down swallowing Kaito and a chunk of the platform before swirling towards Ryu.
Kaito feels the dark flames surge through his body a small warning echoing through his mind as he regains consciousness. ”This is going to hurt, Kaito” As soon as he gained an ounce of consciousness his head felt like it would split open and every nerve ending on his body stung, Roaring winds and fire poured out of his body surrounding it in a globe of energy, there sound only surpassed by Kaito’s screams.
