walking (or not) on the beach

Ureshi shook her head. "I'd prefer if we just move on for now. I don't want to talk about it if we're going to end up fighting over it." She shrugged and smiled again. She saw something out of the corner of her eye: a conch shell that had washed up on the beach. She couldn't help but say, "Oh," as she picked it up and shook the sand off of it.

"Did you know that when you put a conch to your ear, you actually hear the echoing of your own bloodstream? It's really interesting isn't it?" Ureshi had started one of her rants again. This could take a while. "It really makes you wonder just how loud your bloodstream actually is, I mean we can't hear it without this, but when we listen to it we mistake it for an entire ocean! Either these shells amplify the vibrations that much or our bloodstream is loud."

She smiled and looked at the conch shell. She had not known that was what caused the sound people mistook for the sea. How very interesting. She picked up another conch shell and looked at it carefully. "They are very good at amplifying sounds, which is why some people alter them to use as horns." she said as a reply. "They are echo chambers, which echo the chamber multiple times before we hear it so it increases the volume quite a bit, but yeah our blood stream must be louder then we thought."

She picked up the conch shell and threw it in the air and with quick speed created her bow and fired a small arrow. The conch shell shattered and she fired multiple arrows each hitting a piece of the shell. "Hmmm." she said. She had been analysing the structure of it. "It seems that it echoes the sound more then i thought judging by the shape of the shards and the direction they went when hit."

Ureshi sighed mentally. Did she really have to destroy that shell? Probably not, but it didn't really matter too much. Ureshi pulled her bag from her back and slipped the conch into it before pulling out a large book. Oh, not again... This was a world record book. She sat cross legged as she began to skim through the book, and -thankfully- realized she had already memorized all the interesting parts and tucked it back into her bag before jumping to her feet and spinning on her heel so she was facing Bethany.

"Did you take archery before you knew you had powers? Your timing was excellent... Or maybe you took physics or something?" Ureshi spoke in her usual sunny tone, despite her disapproval of her first actions being to draw a bow and fire arrows at a shell until it went flying in peices.

"My uncle discovered I had powers when i was really young and trained me." she said with a smile. "I've always preffered archery to the other quincy abilities though I prefer boarding more." She added indicating her skateboard. "That and playing the drums." She chuckled. "I was privately tutored by my uncle and physics was one of the more useful lessons." then she added msugly. "I'm better then my uncle at marskmanship now."

Ureshi nodded as a melodious ringing sound came from the dark and endless abyss known as her backpack. Suddenly her eyes widened and she hurridly snatched up her backpack, reaching in and digging through it to see that her mother was calling her and was none too happy about her not being home by this time. She looked at the time, it was much later than it had been when she had gotten here and she quickly shoved her phone into her pocket as she started to run off in a hurry. "Sorry! I gotta run, my life depends on it!"

The sadest thing about that sentence, even though it was said jokingly, she really, really meant it. Her life was as good as over if she wasn't home by eight, and she lived awfully far away. "See ya!"

She smiled and dashed over to her and grabbed her by the arm. Using the quincy equivalent of shunpo, she vanished and appeared further ahead. "Tell me where you live and i'll get you there much faster." she said with a smile. "I don't want you to get in trouble."

When Bethany grabbed Ureshi's arm, she had a very undancerish moment and stumbled forward. She suddenly appeared further on and she laughed slightly, "No, no it's fine, I just have to catch a bus."

Despite what she said, she was more concerned about what her overprotective and parinoid mother would say about her suddenly coming home with someone who was clearly not in her age group. She shrugged with her usual bright and carefree smile and she pulled away, waving as she ran. "See ya some other time I guess!"

She was slightly dissapointed about not getting to show off her skill withthat particular ability, but shrugged. "Ok well i'll see ya aroudn. I'm usually at the skatepark...or the site of any major hollow activity."
